NYC Black Friday: Departement Stores

At this point much of Madison Avenue is on presale or full sale. We started wondering, however, if our favorite department stores were offering any exciting Black Friday doorbusters. I guess the answer is that it all depends on the store. Below is a list of department stores and their Thanksgiving weekend promotions. If you see or hear about any additional promotions, let us know in the comment section and we will try to add it to the post.

Barneys:
"We don’t have specials for holidays," a costumer service rep told us on the phone, "but we are having a sale that will be running through the weekend." (How is that different than a holiday sale?! ) Whatever the you call a rose, the discount is 40% off select items.

Bergdorf Goodman:
Black Friday sales? "We don't do Black Friday," an uptight personal shopper spewed. We were also notified that "nothing is on sale." Well, except for "some 5th Floor vendors." Black Friday is just too Walmart for Bergdorf, huh?

Bloomingdales:
The Brown Bag Sale is an additional 30% to 40% off select items. Designer handbags-- Furla, Marc Jacobs, MCM, Tory Burch etc.--are also an additional 30% to 40% off. Also, with each purchase over $100 you can earn a $15 bMony Card.

Saks:
We love Saks because they always know how to run a sale and get shoppers excited for the holidays. From 8am until noon on Friday, shoppers can take an additional 40% off already reduced prices for a total savings of 50% to 60% off. Oh yeah!

Neiman Marcus
Friday from 9am to noon, spend $100 anywhere in the store (except Chanel and Louis Vuitton) and receive a $50.00 gift card towards your next purchase (good thru 12/6).

At Neiman Marcus, shoppers who spend more than $100 between 9am-12pm on 11/27 will get a $50 gift card

Neimans is horrible for sales and it's reflected in their poor earnings. Saks had some Bottegas at 30 off last week so this should be interesting
Barneys started their sale last Thursday.
Yigal started their sale two weeks ago, but it's so picked over
Does anyone know when Dior will be on sale

Dior should be on sale around now.

Saks will be marking down things that were not on sale before friday however they are only going to be 25-35% off. At least that was what I got from the buying office, when we talked the percent was not decided yet. I was just told it's not going to be 40 so between 25 and 35. Don't expect there to be a lot left as Saks either, I have been in stock rooms and they are not that full.

For Bloomingdales is that $15 for every $100, so if I was to buy a $1,000 bag would you get $15 or $150?

Saks is also doing a pre-sale with 40 off some high end designers in addition to the their sale (eg Herrera but no Oscar). Missoni, Calvin and Ralph Lauren were 40off. They had a ton of Escada on sale too. There were lots of good deals, but not a lot of sizes to chose from. The midtown store wasn't crawling with people like I feared so it may be worth your time to check it out. I didn't see much at Barneys on sale. The sales rep said they will mark new items on sale on Dec. 3rd. Most of the brands that I like were not on sale at Barneys. Also, the shoe department had a lot of unwalkable Loubitons (sp) on sale, but no Manolo or Lanvin.
