Montblanc Sample Sale

Montblanc's "private" friends and family sale is always a great place to pick up sophisticated gifts without breaking the bank. This sale is usually a reader favorite. You can print out the below image for private sale entré. (We doubt it's necessary, but why not go prepared?)

This season, the sale has made a venue change and prices may not be as discounted as its been in the past. During previous sales we found $600 fountain pens selling for $150, watches for $500 from $1500 and $1,000 leather bags marked down to $250.

The sale is only two days, starting Monday. Usually lots of loyal fans turn out for the is discount opportunity, which can translate to long lines. This year, we expect the crowed control to be a lot better now that the sale has moved to a professional sample sale location. (Some times you have to give a little to get a little-- higher prices/ shorter lines.)

Those planning to majorly stock up should be warned that there there is a maximum of five pieces for each shopper. That should be more than enough for shoppers like you and me but enough limits to keep the reselling hoarders at bay.

Those looking for some more feminine gift items should mark their calanders for the Ippolita sample sale, which is scheduled to start Saturday, October 27nd.

Montblanc "Private" Friends & Family
Monday, October 22nd & Tuesday, October 23rd
Mon 9am~5:30pm, Tues 9am~5pm
260 Fifth Ave. (bet. 28th & 29th St.)

2 hour and 20 min wait. Letting groups of people in every 20 mins and you can only stay for inside for 30 min ( they time you).

I left at at 12:30 empty handed - NO rollerballs or ball point pens left. There were maybe 8 left and they were priced at $400 and up. They will not be restocking.

While there was still table full of bags and cuff links and 1/2 table left of small leather goods - they will probably all be gone by end of day.. After a 2.5 hour wait people are just grabbing something to buy to make their long wait worthwhile.

Thanks for the info. Were the prices also more than usual?

There is long line. I waited about 1 hours to get in. Each person have 30 min to shop. They have jewelries, watches, pens, leather goods. Most of the stuffs are 65% off, but leather goods are 75% off. All the pens are under $300 are gone long times ago. No wallet, no card holder, limited keychain, limited watches are still more $1000. I bought a necklace for my niece as graduation gift which originally cost $760 and now it's only $266. What a deal!!! It's worth time to wait if you have purpose to go.

Need Help.
Is it worth it to drive 10 hours for this sale. I live far from NYC and I am wondering if I should drive tonight to be there for the sale tomorrow. What do you guys think? Is it worth it. Please go easy on your responses. Thanks, Jon

Did anyone see any fountain pens on sale? I am wondering if I can buy them over the phone? I am all the way in Buffalo, NYC. Kind of far ;-( Mike

Hi Mike and Jon,
Since you guys live far away, I really don't suggest you to drive all the way to this sale unless you wanna buy "expensive" pen and watches. Yes, there were fountain pens, but limited quanity. I'm not sure if you still can get it when you arrive tomorrow. Everything at least 65% off. You should consider the gas price as well.

Don't bother driving 10 hours.

I went last year and it was great! Bought quite a few things! This year, the line was long and in the cold; prices were not as good, assortment was bad for belts and pens. I left empty handed after 2.5 hours in line (got there at8:30 am). It was really not worth it!

Were there any cuflinks left as of today? If yes, what were the prices?

Thanks

Cufflinks, yes. Around 10-15 between the 100-350 range.
