Sephora End of Season Closeout Sale

Sephora is clearing out brands and certain products as part of their end of season sale. Online and in some stores you will find cosmetics and beauty items reduced up to 70% off. The best part is that many of these sale items were holiday packages, which contain an assortment of playful items.

During a quick browse we found a few items from the famed company Lorac reduced about 40%. Concealer is $21 from $28, pressed powder is $24 from $32, CC Cream is $21 from $28 and mascara is $15 from $20. Moving over to the beauty category, there are several holiday sets of scented soaps and scrubs from Philosophy. The Jolly Jelly Candy Set is $28 from $35. If you're shopping for a tween, you can pair the Hello Kitty fragrance for $10 with a lipgloss/eyeshadow compact for $17 and place them in this adorable pochette for $13.

If you're looking for a serious upgrade for less, we suggest the Laura Mercier compact that's $50 from $75. We have yet to buy an item from this brand that we haven't loved. And then, it's really hard to go wrong with $5 lip glosses or Nails Inc polishes for 5-bucks.

We suggest loading up on whatever you like online and then bring back what you don't like. After all, you need to take the product home and see it in real lighting before you get the true worth of it's value.

Schutz Winter Clearance Sale

Schutz, the Brazilian footwear emporium, has quickly created a reputation for offering customers high fashion shoes at fast fashion prices. The boutique, which is across from Barneys and next door to Brian Atwood, is stocked with fashion forward shoe styles that are all priced very attractively. We like to describe the store as a footwear-only version of Zara.

Most shoes are spiked and studded and are normally priced between $90 and $400 but it's discount season and Schutz shoes are on sale. Right now most items are 50% off. While shoe shopping, we found Celine-like chunky heels for $90 from $180, snake print leather peep toe stripy heels are $150 from $300 and pointy toe pumps are $50 from $100.

The store has undoubtedly made an impact on the Uptown budget shoe market. We just aren't sure if inexpensive shoes will be anything more than inexpensive shoes. Take note, that the brand has an online store but shipping is $20, which seems exorbitant for shoes costing barely $100.

Save the Date: Marni Sample Sale

Marni is one of those designers that we love to love but find it hard to wear. In theory, the looks are great but in reality the fashion isn't always flattering to the female body.

In any event, Marni is hosting their first ever sample sale. The three day "stock sale" will begin on Tuesday, February 4th. The sale will include women's accessories and clothing for men, women and children. The discounts will run up to 80% off.

If waiting until mid-next week is too difficult, you can always shop over at The Outnet. The online discounter has a small assortment of Marni fashion and accessories priced up to 88% off. This silk print dress is about $500 from $1600 and over here is a classic necklace for $195 from $650. Bergdorf Goodman has a small selection of highly reduced Marni too. (Can someone explain why the Neiman Marcus site is more expensive?) A sleeveless black and white top is $172 from $690 and a print poplin dress is $381 from $1090.

If you head over the the Marni boutique on Madison or online here, you can shop the entire winter collection for 50% off. We are keeping our fingers crossed that what's left over from the season here is sent directly to the sample sale. We really wouldn't mind an oversized coat or a minimalism style handbag.

Costco Discounts Chanel 20%

Over the past several weeks we've seen s steady stream of pristine Classic Chanel bags grazing the showcases of Costco, in Harlem. While Costco admits to selling gray market designer merchandise, it's always a bit surprising to see a Jumbo classic not far from your industrial sized Bounty paper towel.

Thie week, Costco's designer showcase held a large size black Classic Flap with gold hardware in caviar leather. The price is $3700 from a retail price of $4400. That's a savings of almost 20%. Last week, at the same Costco, we spotted the prettiest grey lambskin Jumbo Classic Flap with silver hardware for $4000 from a retail value of $4900. Again, that's about a 20% discount.

Some shoppers may turn up their nose from purchasing designer accessories at Costco but we would prefer to save $1000 and forgo the shopping bag. After all, anyone can shop for for Chanel, at Chanel. It's a bit cliche, don't you think?

On the second hand market, Chanel Jumbos seem to sell for about $3000 and the large size normally sells for between $2000 and $2500, depending on the condition. When choosing between the discount price and preowned, we consider the new car smell, um bag, to be worth the premium. The best part is that Cocto's return policy is a lot more customer friendly than Chanel.

Take note, that not all Costco luxury accessories are priced as attractively. A Maxi Veneta from Bottega Veneta is priced at $2000 from a retail price of $2750. Seems like a nice savings but the Bottega outlet sells the same bag for $1800 and often has special discounts of an additional 20% off. Also, Costco priced a Balanciaga City 12  for $1400, while the full retail price is just $1345.

As always, do your research!

Ralph Lauren Clearance 80% Off

Ralph Lauren has started their winter clearance where most merchandise is reduced 70%. Online shoppers can use the code WARMUP20 and save an additional 20%, which brings the total savings to just about 80%.

In most cases, the Ralph Lauren boutique will match the online prices but they may give you a problem trying to get the additional 20% off. In this instance it might just be easier to shop online.

We have been crushing for this black and white leather jacket all season and it's a relative bargain for $860 from the starting price of $3000. It shouldn't be hard channeling the bygone years of Downton Abbey with this beaded v-front gown for $1440 from $5000. These cashmere fingerless gloves are a great find priced at  $71 from $400.

On a more practical note, there's this men's large pony polo is $26 from $110. A cashmere cable knit sweater from the Purple Label is great for both him or her when priced at $287 from $1000. Men's work/all-weater boots (perfect and not too ugly for the snow) are $57 from $179.

The sale also includes kid's clothing and home accessories. Just note, that home goods are only reduced 30%. You should take note that merchandise is selling rather quickly. We suggest not procrastinating on checkout. We had items sell out as they were in our shopping cart. And it's always ironic how much more you "need" an item once you can't have it.

Manolo Blahnik Second Markdown 50% Off

The streets are practically fully plowed and the streets are clear of traffic and congestion. What to do? Head over to Manolo Blahnik boutique's second markdown. The sale started Monday but federal holidays and snow has kept the store quite and the inventory running practically at full stock.

This most recent markdown follows the 33% discount but proceeds the final and best shopping opportunity of the season. The final markdown is always one of our favorite sales and normally occurs the first week of February. Prices range from $195 to $350. Most shoes and low boots-- even highly ornate styles-- are priced at $250.

We took a quick browse through the boutique and fond the store to be rather quiet. There is a full assortment of shoes from the winter collection and many still have full size ranges. We are personally waiting make our major purchases in February! After all, it is the month of love.

Cesare Paciotti 70% Off Friends and Family Sale

There's nothing like a great sale to motivate you to brave the snow drifts and leave your house. Good thing we have the perfect boutique occasion. Sexy French shoe designer, Cesare Paciotti (say: Pa-cho-tee), is hosting a friends and family sale where shoes, bags and accessories will be available at 70% off.

The sale begins Wednesday, January 22 (snow-optimistic) and runs though Friday, January 24. The discount can only be applied when used at the brand's three free-standing boutiques: Beverly Hills, Bal Harbor and Madison Avenue.

Those who are travelly impaired can begin browsing the collection online here. We especially love the cuissard boot that are priced under $450 from $1460 and these ankle boots that are $411 from $1375-- are both classic Paciotti.

Just don't expect to find any rain or snow boots here. The brand's muse Carine Roitfeld never considers practically. After all, if your shoes never touch the pavement, the soles never get scuffed.

DVF Final Markdown with Sample Sale Prices

A season without a Diane von Furstenberg sample sale feels like leaving home without your favorite lipstick. Of course, a substitute will do, but the comforts of familiarity can aren't easily substituted. Unfortunately, there are no upcoming dates to announce but the DVF is hosting a final sale online and prices aren't far off from the iconic sample sale.

Through the end of Monday, shoppers can use the code JANUARY20 and save an extra 20% off already reduced merchandise. The prices at the sample sale usually run $150 for classic wrap dresses, $125 for non-wrap dresses and $80 for sweaters. If you had this way, and use the extra 20% off, you can pay just $130 for this wing print dress. A print wrap dress, which comes in red or pink, comes to $146. The price is the same for this combo print wrap dress. This python print silk dress is $150 and this knit dress is $120.

At the past sample sale, bags and accessories were a huge hit but they were still very pricey. Bags were priced at $285, clutches were $100 and scarves were $75. Online now, you can snag this studded bag (a la Valentino) for just $141 this snake-skin combo tote for $210. Most scarves, like this one, are $80.

The best part of this sale is that there a no lines, no crowded fitting room and purchases are returnable. Unfortunately, we don't usually come across sample sales with the same consumer friendly rules.

Peter Pilotto Markdowns or Target Collab?

Peter Pilotto for Target doesn't hit stores until February 9th but frenzy for the Brit designer's wild prints is starting to begin. The lookbook from the collaboration was just released this week and includes a lot of eye popping printed dresses ranging in price from $30 to $80. The collection also includes lots of skirts, shoes, rash guards, swimwear, bags and accessories. You can see the entire collection here, on Fashionista.

In the meantime, we would highly suggest snagging some Peter Pilotto during this season's last round of markdowns. It might cost you a bit more than Target but at least you're getting the real thing and the real quality. Neiman Marcus has a Peter Pilotto sequined shift dress reduced to $528 from $1500. The Saks Fifth Avenue flagship has practically a full rack of the designer's prints that are reduced about 75%, including additional inshore discounts. On Saks.com there's a reglan sleeve print dress for $435 from $1450. Kirna Zibete, in Soho, has a long sleeve top for $250 from $630 and Farfetch is selling a fine knit print dress for $392 from $785.

We realize that even the marked down prices on Peter Pilotto's colorful designs are considerably more than a Target price point. Take note, however, that resale values for this designer are pretty good. At least you can sell your designer dress for close to these sale prices. The Target values fare as well as the seams.

Hervé Léger Boutique 70% Off

The Hervé Léger boutique, on Madison Avenue, has started the bi-annual clearance sale where winter clothing, shoes and accessories are reduced up to 70% off. The sale is also online but the prices aren't as good as in the store.

Inside the boutique you will find a yellow and black bondage dress reduced to $375 from $1250, an orange/red signature style bondage dress is $315 from $1050 and an essential black a-line skirt is $234 from $780. There is even a classic one-shoulder black dress that's $435 from $1450.

Sizes do tend to sell out quickly. If all else fails you can shop Neiman Marcus, which still a decent selection of sale dresses from the master of bondage.

A Look Inside Barneys Final Markdown

It's now final markdown season and it's so much fun to see how the different department stores are clearing the last of their winter inventory. Earlier this week, we searched through the Consolidation Sale at Saks Fifth Avenue and today we took a tour of Barneys final markdown. The discount there is up to 75% off.

What's left at the chicest Madison Avenue luxury emporium? Lets take a look. (Pictures from our shopping trip are through the jump below.)

Starting on the first floor, you can still find a small selection of bags that are generally reduced 50% to 50% off. A Bottega Veneta spiked hobo is $1689 from $3420, a Chloe Marci bag is $759 from $1950 and a Lanvin messenger style bag is $1149 from $2300. Besides for the larger bags, there is also a small selection of clutches and gloves. We have a feeling, that if you stake out the section long enough, you could catch a really great bag on the way back in via returns.

Heading to the clothing floors of the store. You can still find a great variety of fashion. Most coats are still on the first markdown. A Lanvin died fox coat is $15,899 from $25,495 but a Derek Lam gold skirt is down to $1000 from $3890. A navy ribbed Lanvin sweater dress that's reduced to $339 is a bit more wearable and affordable. If you're looking for a long leather moto vest from Maison Martin Margiela (a.k.a. Mar-geel-ya) there's one left, following three markdowns. The final price is $849 from $3390.

Heading up to shoes, the selection at Barneys rivals what's left at Saks. We couldn't resist thigh high leather Celine boots, which are sure to be even hotter next Winter. The department is also filled with Chanel sneakers galore, priced at $319 from almost $800.  Saint Laurent cap toe Janis heels are $299 from $775. Celine Mary Jane boots are $519 from $1290 and Chanel leather booties are $779 from $1295. You can also find a selection of Louboutins on their third markdown like PVC pumps for $389 from $975 and crystal embellished Daffodiles for $2559 from $6395.

It seems as if Barneys.com has straightened out a lot of their inventory problems during sale season. We can't vouch that you will get all the items from your online shopping cart but you can be comforted by the fact that the online prices are consistent with the store. And that my friends, is a lot more than can be said about J. Crew.

Inside Saks Consolidation Sale

The Saks Consolidation Sale started this past Thursday and we couldn't wait another moment to infiltrate the clearance event. All of the designer clearance merchandise is on the 9th floor. This year, there seems to be a lot more inventory than previous years and, still, more merchandise is expected. The best part is that everything is an additional 25% off.

As you enter the consolidation department, we suggest heading right, near the children's department. (Online shoppers can proceed by clicking here.) There you will find a selection of clouting from designers like Valentino, Oscar de la Renta, Giambattista Valli, Moschino, Etro and Proenza. A black and white Courreges dress dress is $886 from $2215, a Jason Wu leather and wool military jacket is $1110 from $2775, a print Etro dress is $1232 from $3089, a Marni cotton shift dress is just $165 from $236 and a dress from the Row with suede and lace detail is $1240 from $3100. Mind you, these are the sticker prices. Each item is an additional 25% off, which brings the total savings to 80% on some items.

Among our favorite pieces is a Aquilano Rimondi dress for $708 from $1180 or just about $490 with the additional discount. Derek Lam wool pants with a lace overlay come to a total of $720. (You can see a full set of pictures from the sale after the jump.)

If you're looking for bags and shoes, we suggest shopping elsewhere. The selection of reduced bags located near the right elevator bank is dismal. There are barely two dozen styles, most of which are Marc Jacob. The best of the bunch is a Marni tote that's about $500 from $832. (There's no additional discount on the bags.) The selection of discount shoes isn't much better. There areonly six racks of shoes, most of which are generally undesirable.

As we're sure you can take away, the Saks Consolidation sale is rather good for clothing. The sale is especially good if you're fan of bold prints. We suggest shopping the 9th floor several times over the next two weeks. There should be a rather steady flow of new merchandise from other North Eastern Saks stores.

Click below for a full collection of more than 20 pictures from our shopping trip.

Save the Date: Dennis Basso Sample Sale

This has been a Winter of extremes. One day it's 3-degrees and the next day it's 51-degrees. On the bright side,  it keeps your full wardrobe in rotation. For the below zero days we have been yearning to layer ourselves with fur.

A simple fur coat will not do. We are imagining a colorful short horizontal mink with cropped sleeves to show off decadent gloves or stacked bracelets. How about the perfectly elegant dress to go under it too? Dream no more. The Dennis Basso sample sale is scheduled to run from Sunday, January 25 through Wednesday, January 29th. Discounts will go up to 85% off.

In addition to the traditional furs, the sale will also include fur vests, cashmere coats, raincoats, gowns, clothing. The sale will also have a variety of handbags, accessories, fur throws and pillows. That's about all we need for our next trip to Aspen. Just wait, Mr. Basso will add skis to the mix next season.

Barneys Final Markdown 75% Off

Barneys third and final markdown started today. Most ready-to-wear is now 75% off retail. (Even coveted Givenchy clothing is priced at 1/4 of the original retail price.) Shoes and bags are now reduced between 50% and 60% off.

While browsing online, we found this exaggerated houndstooth dress from Mason by Michelle Mason for $150 from about $500, a Lanvin bug print dress is about $469 from $1885 and a Row wrap front coat is $1879 from $3750. We especially like this calf hair Lanvin shoulder bag that's $1059 from $2650.

While the shoes are now 60% off, the selection has been very picked over. Women who wear smaller sizes always fare best. Don’t expect to find any “it” shoes. As a matter of fact, the more popular designer shoes, like Manolo Blahnik, are still just 50%.

Net-a-Porter Clearance 80% Off

The Net-a-Porter clearance sale is winding down and many items have been reduced to 80% off and the site is offering an additional 20% to close out the season. The final days of the sale are usually a shopping frenzy and the best items disappear rather quickly.

While a majority of the clearance merchandise is 70% off there are lots of great items that are discounted 80%. A few of our favorite items are a Jason Wu sweater that's $166 from $830 and these J Brand metallic leather skinny pants are ridiculously hot and reduced to $200 from $1000. We really couldn't resist these Katie Grand x Hogan zebra-print loafers for $125 from $625. (These prices don't include the additional 20% off.)

If you're shopping for an upcoming vacation you can really score. Check out this Beth Richards' graphic camouflage-print bikini that's $52 from $260. All sizes are available and the high waisted bottom couldn't be more on trend for summer 2014. A Vanessa Bruno white blazer is $122 from $610 and a Zimmermann floral-print beach dress is just $59 from $295.

Since this is Net-a-Porter, there is also a great selection of truly awesome fashion. Take this black and white draped Vionnet gown for $1288 from $6440. It's literally breathtaking. How about the L'Wren Scott metallic structured cape for $722 from $3610? Fierce, right? Over here is a great Roland Mouret silk-marocain jumpsuit for $695 from $3475.

We sincerely suggest you hop on the site as soon as humanly possible. Even while creating this post items were disappearing. Don't forget, we just mentioned merchandise at 80% off. There's a huge amount of product that is discounted 70%. Happy shopping and please feel free to share your conquests in the comment section below.

Bergdorf Goodman Handbag Sale

When it gets this cold there's only one thing to do: hunker down in your favorite store. Bergdorf Goodman was the perfect destination to have lunch and browse the day away. The markdown on most designer merchandise is still just 60% off but an additional discount is expected shortly. (It's never too early to browse the next price cut.)

In the meantime, we were quite satisfied with the selection of handbags that are reduced 50%. Among the discounted handbags are Victoria Beckham totes that are about $1300 from $2600 and the designer's shoulder bag with a gold chain is about $1500 from $3000. The popular Fendi 2Jours with fringe is $2500 from $5000, a Proenza Schouler neoprene lunch bag clutch is $925 from $1850 and a PS11 mini camp bag is $822 from $1645.

If you think that most of these bags still seem very pricey, we agree. Usually, final call is 70% off and that's when you can find the real deals. We'll keep you posted. For now, sit back and enjoy browsing the bag atrium without even leaving your chair. Pictures after the jump.

Century 21 Clearance 80%-90% Off

Only one thing is better than an end-of-season markdown-- an end of season markdown at a discount store. This weekend, Century 21 started their clearance sale and a great selection of clothing is discounted an additional 33% to 50% off.

If "retail value" prices are correct, that would bring the total discount to 80% to 90% off. Consider this, Century 21 pays most of their luxury suppliers 10% of the retail price. So these prices may barely allow the discounter to break even on the merchandise.

This weekend, we took a tour of the Downtown flagship and found lots of items worthy of being taken home. The best selection was within the evening wear. We always suggest snagging one of these "great ones" when you can find them this cheap. Storing them in your closet unit the correct affair presents itself is always a wise move. Nothing is worse than paying big bucks for a dress you're barely going to wear twice.

Among these evening frocks is a red carpet worthy Michael Kors dress that is reduced to $2500 from a starting retail price of $19,000. (No, we didn't add too many zeros.) An Emilio Pucci gown with illusion is under $600 from a valued price of $3275. An insane John Gilliano jacket with fur (perhaps fox) collar is about $1000 from $9425. An LBD from Lanvin comes to about $700 from almost $4000 and a jeweled Prada jacket (winter 2012) under $900 from $8335.

Among the less expensive reduced items is a classic Valentino red dress that's $220 from about $740. Missoni knit wool pants are $175 from $1210 and a lovely Ports 1961 dress with a lace back is $200 from a $1190 retail. If you're looking for sunglasses, most designer styles come to about $100 after the additional discount.

Century 21 isn't the best destination for handbag shopping. The store isn't offering any additional discounts and there isn't much that's appealing. The only purse of notable mention is a YSL Betty that's $1200 from a retail of about $1500. That's not much of a bargain.

We would absolutely suggest heading downtown if you're feeling adventurous or need a formal dress. Otherwise you can just go for the fun. Shopping Century is always entertaining. Tourists can sometimes be tremendously funny.

There are 13 more pictures of our shopping trip after the jump.

Chanel Bags at a 60% Markdown

Chanel would leave you believe that their merchandise never goes on sale but we have proof of lots of markdowns. As a matter of fact, many stores still have merchandise left over from the first markdown. Right now. If you're buying Chanel winter merchandise, you should be looking for a discount of about 60% off.

At Saks Fifth Avenue , in NYC, we found a pair of short Chanel work boots for $940 from $2300. Classic loafers in navy are $318 from $795. A sales person from Neiman Marcus, in Scottsdale, says that second markdown start Wednesday and is currently accepting presale. Included in the second markdown are tweed Chanel sneakers for 55% off and green ballet flats discounted to $250. You can several metallic hobos in turquoise, silver and murky green hobo for $1485 from $3300. Another style bag in a suede green is "just" $1080.

The  plat de résistance, from the sale, happens to be a exotic 2.55 reissue (embroidered python). The bag is reduced to $7200 from an original tag of $16,000. There's also a small zip shopping tote with chevron stitching that is about $1600 from $3600.

On all accounts these are some great deals. Serious buyers should consider investigating Chanel departments outside our normal New York distribution centers. Boston, Scottsdale and Chicago are always great for Chanel finds. Generally, Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom are our top picks for bags and clothing.

Saks Consolidation Sale Begins

This morning New Yorkers awoke to a blanket of snow and news that the Saks Fifth Avenue Consolidation Sale for women will begin Thursday, January 9. (The men's sale is currently underway.) That means that the department store's 9th floor has become a virtual bargain basement for the winter 2013 season.

The markdown is up to 70% off but the beginning of this sale usually only consists of leftovers from within the store. The merchandise isn't all that desirable and pretty well picked over. Right now there is assorted merchandise from the likes of Stella McCartney, Temperly, Moschino, Yigal Azrouel, TSE and Donna Karen.

If you wait just 10 days, merchandise from other Saks locations  will start making their way to New York. When this occurs it's more likely to find key items from designers such as Missoni, Pucci, Herve Leger, Dior, Fendi, McQueen and Chanel.

Of course, we will have a full report on Monday. This sale usually runs through the end of the month. At the very end, all prices are slashed by an extra 25%. Our advice is to go early, shop often, but expect the best merchandise in about two weeks.

The Best Snow Day Online Shopping

It looks like we are all snowed in and we couldn't even imagine Uber-ing down to Bergdorfs. This weekend's shopping will absolutely be limited to the clickity version. Below are a few great online sales to satisfy your desire to shop.

Reiss
We usually don't make a point of following the style habits of others, but Kate Middleton is spot on with her love for Reiss. Right now, the British designer has discounted winter merchandise up to 50% off. The fashion is stylish, yet very affordable. Check out this great moto leather jacket that's now $462 from $660, this "royal" blue fit and flare dress that's $283 from $360 and this perfect size croc embossed bag that's $181 from $285.

Tory Burch
It's so much more fun to shop at Tory's store on Madison but there's no way, on a snow day. The designer is currently offering an extra 25% off sale items with the code NEWYEAR. The promotion runs through January 6. This Wren sweater has a front silk panel that seems similar to an Hermes style but this one comes to just $110 from $295. These flats may not be logo-ed but are very pretty and wearable, especially for $131 from $250.

Banana Republic
Sometimes you can find a great staple at Banana Republic and wear it all season long. It's really hit or miss. You can use the code BRGOOD30 to save an extra 30% off sale items, right now. This double-breasted cape should not be worn with a stripped shirt but can be a cute accessory for $70 from $130. These candy jeweled earrings add the perfect amount of playful glamour for about $25 from almost $40.

J. Crew
Shopping J. Crew in Manhattan can be frustrating. We can't figure out why the brand discounts items online and in some boutiques but not others. Making sure you get charged the right amount can be an irritating task. If you don't mind waiting for your purchases, it might be easier to shop online. Sale merchandise is now an extra 40% off if you use the code SHOPHAPPY. This collection purple and blue jeweled sweater is $83 from $248 and this cashmere framed sweater is about $90 from $228. Collection gray flannel jeweled pumps are $180 from $428.

Zara
The high-style fast-fashion staple has continued to reduce winter merchandise. From our last post, when their sale first started, this color block top has shed another $10 to $30 from an irrational price of $70 and this leather bowling bag is also $10 less than it was.
