Amuze Deal of the Day: YSL Metallic Tributes

Our favorite luxury discount site, Amuze, has started hosting daily flash sales with the most unbelievable deals. Check this out: Starting Friday at noon, the site will be selling YSL Tribute shoes for $325 from almost $1,100. That's even less expensive than the YSL sample sale.

After Friday, the deals continue on Amuze. On Monday, the site will feature Valentino crystal lace platform pumps for $240. On Tuesday, there will be Tom Ford calf hair booties for $295 and Wednesday you will be able to snag a Saint Laurent Muse2 messenger bag for just $550. Insane, right?

We have to admit that Amuze's daily deals are addictive. We are hard pressed to find another website with better prices. Shoppers can rest assured, all of Amuze's merchandise is authentic and brand new.

Try a Vintage Varsity Jacket for Spring

This has been a long, cold, dark and hard winter. While the moto jacket may be one of the hottest fashion must-haves, it is starting to feel a bit too dark and heavy of a look for spring. We love the the über-preppy varsity jacket or letterman sweater as an alternative.

The look is light and playful and quite versatile. We especially like a vintage variety or limited edition piece. We found a great selection on eBay. Among our finds was a 1976 girls softball jacket, an Alaska 80s jacket has the cutest patch of a cartoon cheerleader and a vintage Olympic team USA version seems entirely appropriate.

We love the look of a jacket either over sized or hitting the hip. The style looks particularly adorable on kids. We suggest experimenting with the styling of your letterman outerwear. Try it with a short flared skirt, shorts, or jeans (skinny or boyfriend). As far as footwear, dress it up with booties or heels, or keep it casual with slip-on or oxfords.

You can check out my entire eBay collection of preppy outerwear here. While there, also browse my other collections like the most timeless handbags, intoxicating scents and designer slip-on sneakers.

My eBay Collections were curated as part of my collaboration with eBay.

Neiman Marcus Consolidation Goes to Last Call

If you've ever wondered what happens to all that wonderful merchandise at Bergdorf Goodman that nobody purchases, we have the answer. It pops up at the parent brand's discount store, Last Call.

Starting tomorrow, select Neiman Marcus Last Call stores will receive new arrivals direct from Neiman Marcus. (Bergdorf Goodman will be coming in March.) The discount is up to 65% off original retail. Keep your eyes open, just last month shoppers reported racks of Chanel clothing discounted almost 90% off retail. We've also heard that the discounter receives Chanel bags from time to time but doesn't display them. We suggest asking a sales manager if you're on the hunt.

Participating stores include, Austin Brodie Oaks Shopping Center, Arundel Mills, Camarillo Premium Outlets, Fashion Outlets of Chicago, Franklin Mills, Grapevine Mills, Great Lakes Crossing, Gurnee Mills, Katy Mills, Milpitas Great Mall, Potomac Mills, Sawgrass Mills, Sugarloaf Mills, The Outlets at Orange, The Outlet Collection-Jersey Gardens, Livermore Premium Outlets, Arizona Mills, and Woodbury Common Premium Outlets.

Shopbop: Spend More, Save More

Shopbop is hosting a "Tier Sale" where you can save up to 30% off, depending on how much money you spend. The sale starts on Tuesday, at 7am and represents the first real markdown opportunity of the season. The discount can be applied to both full price and sale merchandise. Use the code BIGEVENT14 at checkout to activate your savings.

The discount runs as follows:
Spend $250+ Save 20%
Spend $500+ Save 25%
Spend $1000+ Save 30%

As far as we can see there are no designer restrictions, which means this discount is a lot more valuable than a department store's friends and family sale. While browsing, we came across this playful dress from the increasingly popular designer, Ostwald Helgason. The price is $1,020, so the 30% savings would come to over $300. This Jason Wu jacket is normally $2500 but will come to $1750 with the discount. We absolutely love this Lisa Perry stripped sweater comes to $315 from $395.

If you head to the sale section, you should check out this Ellery sequined dress that will come to $415 from an original price of $1800. This slinky Viktor & Rolf dress Was $1500 and comes to just about $350. A Milly sweater with a dalmation collar is absoutly adorable and totally affordable at about $100 from an original price of $326. There are also J Brand super skinny jeans reduced to about $70 from $185 and Won Hundred jeans are about $90 from $221.

The sale only runs until midnight, Thursday, February 27. We suggest you get shopping now or you'll be waiting until early April. That's when Saks Fifth Avenue hosts their first friends and family sale.

Room sprays dominated the last sale in a variety of scents including Myrrh, Cyprès, Galliano, Thé, Feu de Bois, Pin Sylvestre, Ambre, Patchouli, Santali and Oranger. XL candles were $138, Valentine's Day and Rose Duo candles were $39 and mini holiday candles were just $16. Madewell Coming to Madison Avenue

Over the past several years, J. Crew has created a strong footprint along Madison Avenue with four stores between 66st and 87st. This spring, little sister, Madewell is be jointing the Madison Avenue family with a store located between 84th and 85th Street.

This will be Madewell's third store in Manhattan but its first uptown location. The new space is appropriately situated between Teavana and LuluLemon. It is clear that J. Crew has big expansion plans for Madewell. In the first nine months of 2013, the company opened 13 Madewell stores, bringing the total tally to 65.

Madewell is known for their effortlessly cool and laid back aesthetic. Think, Canadian tuxedo with lots of downtown cool. Jeans are normally priced at $125, a dress is $160, flannels are $80. (You'll also want to know that Madewell offers a college and teacher discount of 15% with a valid I.D.) The brand's biggest competitors are Gap and Urban Outfitters, which are both directly East, on Third Avenue.

We just hope that Madewell doesn't play the same tricky pricing games as the Madison Avenue J. Crew stores. Do we really need to be charged more for the same item because we are shopping on Madison Avenue? Frankly, it seems quite opportunistic and nearly unethical.

Lots of Winter Items on Barneys Warehouse

It's no secret that Barneys famous bi-annual warehouse sales haven't really been great since the time of the checkered cab. Most recently, the Madison Avenue department store practically eliminated their sale and moved most of the discount items online to Barneys Warehouse micro-site.

While searching for this season's marked down Fendi-shoes-that-got-away we found a healthy selection of this winter's sale merchandise at Barneys Warehouse site. The aforementioned shoes with fur trim are $679 from $1700. While the shoe discounts might not be as good as a sample sale, finding seasonal icons at this time of year can be difficult. Most discount stores pull last season's merchandise and warehouse them until next year.

The markdowns are better if you're still looking this season's winter clothing. A jumpsuit from The Row is $1050 from $4190, a Carven wool gazar strapless dress is $270 from $910 and a spring appropriate Prabal Gurung aqua dress is $459 from $1825.

Just take note, that like the Warehouse sale of days past, there are no returns allowed from the online site. All sales are final. This is an absolute deal breaker when shopping online unless we've seen and tried an item.

Alessi Warehouse Sale 75% Off

Sometimes we get a bit obsessed with clothing and accessories. We don't, however, live in a cardboard box. On occasion we need to take the time to nourish our surroundings with beautiful and inspiring design. Alessi's designs are the perfect intersection between whimsy and functionality.

Until the end of the month both Manhattan's Alessi stores are moving out overstock, discontinued items and floor samples at up to 75% off. We took a peak in at the 60th Street location and ended up with a full delivery worth of modern and playful accessories. The haul included an a tempo citrus basket for $20 from %50, the Philippe Starck Joe Cactus ashtray was $30 from $90 and a Michael Graves water pitcher for $90 from over $300.

For the first time, we found the Anna G corkscrew on sale (yellow only) for $46 from $67. We love giving these "gals" as hostess gifts. It's always a great conversation piece. Popular tea kettles are not on sale. We suggest calling ahead if you have something specific in mind.

Final Sale Days at Bergdorf Goodman

The snow hasn't melted but most of our favorite stores have shipped away their winter boots and shearling lined jackets. Since Bergdorf Goodman starts their sale later in the season, it's not surprising that their sale runs later than most. Right now, the Fifth Avenue store is clearing out the last of their winter merchandise and there are some really great items marked more than 75% off.

Inside the Chanel boutique there isn't a lot of selection beyond an assortment of size 50s. We did find a gorgeous hunter green cashmere cardigan with burgundy trim is about $790 from $3145. (That's less expensive than a resale store.)

Heading up to the sixth floor, you will find most sale items consolidated. A Roland Mouret jacket is $637 from $2550, a Peter Pilotto print dress is $373 from $1495 and a DVF body-con dress is $116 from $465. Unfortunately, there aren't any bags that are worthwhile but there are some shoes and accessories that may help you get through these final snowstorms. Maison Martin Margiela long patent leather gloves are $203 from $815, shearling lined Prada moto boots are about $500 from $1100, studded oxfords are $337 from $750 and Saint Laurent riding boots are $740 from $1645.

Although it may seem late to buy winter merchandise, the heard truth is that we likely have at least two more months of cold weather. Perhaps a few new pieces of winter clothing will have you rejoicing from the next snow storm? Of course, that's just wild optimism.

Ralph Lauren Olympic Fever Nearly Sold Out

While we've been joking over the "vibrantly" designed "Christmas Sweaters" that the olympians wore to the opening ceremony, Ralph Lauren has been laughing all the way to the bank. Those patch work sweaters that were the focus of many fashion jokes, are completely sold out along with most of the collection.

If you're considering grabbing bit of Sochi sports memorabilia, we suggest you do so soon. Team USA Ralph Lauren bear is already sold out and so is our favorite pea coat. So what can you buy if you're in need of some Olympics nostalgia? There's the Team USA zip-up jacket for $195, the opening ceremony hat for $95 and team USA crewneck flag sweater for $295. There's also an assortment of tees for both men and women.

After shopping the olympic gear, you should also check out the designer's final sale. All clearance merchandise is an extra 20% off with the code LASTCHANCE20. Most of the best final markdown merchandise is already gone but you might get lucky. Afterwards you can head over to JC Penny and pick up GO USA mittens for $10 from $14. Just be careful when tweeting.

Fashion Week: Pink Wednesdays and Midi-Skirts

Our feet are shot and the novelty of celebrity spotting and free cocktails is wearing off but that doesn't mean our fetish for fashion has fleeted. Today, we continue to call out the biggest trends of the season the moment they emerge.

The Midi-Skirt
This season's midi-skirt take the spotlight from her two older sisters, the miniskirt and the maxi skirt. For fall 2014, almost every designer incorporated this mid-calf length skirt into their line-up. Michael Kors, Reede Krakoff and Proenza Schouler are just a few of the designers who opted to embrace this new skirt length. Take notice of the assortment of shoes. Kors paired the skirt with sandals, Krakoff used low boots and Proenza opted for oxfords. Which styling do you like best?

Pink Wednesdays
Ever read a person's totally absurd bio? Like, so-and-so popularized the use of the term "wasabi," in place of "what's up." Well I've made it my personal mission to popularize Pink Wednesdays. Yes, like in the movie Mean Girls. After all, "On Wednesdays we wear pink." This season, designers are making it easy to blush it up, with a large assortment of pink to choose from. J. Crew showed the prettiest pastel pink coat, Thakoon opted for a hot pink and Delpozo used a petal pink. Now, who is jointing me in Pink Wednesdays?

Fashion Week: Boots and Silver Lame

Fashion week is going strong and we are fully intoxicated with the thrill winter 2014. As the shows continue trends continue to emerge. Here are a few more to inspire your wardrobe.
Blissful Boots
Some women live and die for shoes but we prefer the multi-personalities of a boot. They are sexy, hard and sometimes nuts. This season we see all shapes and sizes of the winter staple. Check out Alexander Wang's mid-calf-mule-boot. The laser-cut leather detailing adds texture and style. Tory Burch footwear was a mashup of heavy wool knee-highs and lace-up pumps. Diesel took a modern take on the cowboy boot with multiple buckles and a metal toe.

Silver Lame Lives
Last season we highlighted the growing popularity of gold lame. This season we see designers turning to the trend's twin sister-- silver lame. Pamella Roland paired textured lame pants with a heavy fur silver fur topper. Libertine used silver lame to create a chessboard textured top and paired it with embellished pants. Vera Wang went with silver lame cropped pants with a transparent blouse and added extra long fur scarf for a texture of luxe.

Sexy Guiseppe Zanotti Sale

Watching fur, gowns and leather stream down the runway all week can really drum up the fashion bug. It's, however, unlikely that we are going to start shopping the full price looks from right off the runway. That's why we were so thrilled to shop, Amuze. The online discounter runs weekly flash sales of some of our favorite designers.

Tonight, the site will be launching a selection of Guiseppe Zanotti shoes all priced at 65% off. A pair of red fringed suede booties are $450 from $1295 and calf hair stilletos are $315 from $895.

Seems good? We agree, but there's even a better deal for you. Madison Avenue Spy readers can use the code "madavespy" at checkout and receive 10% off your purchase. Remember this sale will only be around for a limited time so shop now before it's gone!

Fashion Week: Illusion and Capes Create Magic

We are nearly half way through fashion week and it doesn't take long for trends to emerge. Here are three trends that you can expect to see on the street and in pages of your favorite fashion magazines this coming Winter.

Magical Illusion
Sheer panels give winter's heavy designs a suggestive edge, without revealing too much. These strategically placed pieces of illusion lighten up heavy winter looks with a glimpse of skin. We love how they are paired with heavy velvet, taffeta and heavy layers of fabric. In the looks above, Donna Karan draped a see-threw layer over a band top and mini sort, Dennis Basso lightened a heavy skirt with a bodice of jewel detailing over illusion and Tadashi Shoji lightened heavy embroidered velvet with a deep v-neck of sheer.

The Cape in All Sizes
A cape adds a bit of drama to almost any outfit. For winter, capes come in all shapes and sizes. The only drawback is looking like you are dressing for a duel. Wearing a cape is a grand gesture within itself and should not be over accessorized. Look for versions that are tailored and sleek. Above Monique Lhuillier capes what would otherwise be a normal shift dress, Reem Acra adds drama and tames a silver lame dress with a mid-length cape and The Row added a maxi-cape to the neckline of a basic sweater dress.

ShopBop 70% Off Sale

ShopBop has started their clearance sale where lots of designer clouting, shoes and accessories are discounted 70% off. Since all sales are final it is best if you shop for items that you've tried or seen before.

Rodarte fans will be happily surprised by this final markdown. We are also huge fans of these Maison Martin Margiela snakeskin boots that are about $600 from $2000 and these Alexis Bittar arrow drop earrings are $58 from almost $200.

It's really hard to pass up leather stretch pants from DVF that are now just $300 from $1000 and while you're settling on those leather pants you'll have to go for the Yigal Azrouel leather bustier for $237 from almost $800.

Although the 70% off section offers the best discounts, it's usually a good idea to explore the other markdown sections. Those, at least, offer items that are returnable.

Beware of Marni Sample Sale Hype

Today was the first day of the first-ever Marni sample sale. Since there hasn't been a major sample sale, we weren't surprised with the amount of buzz that surrounded this event. Most blogs have reported that the prices are pretty good and we agree. It's the selection of inventory that disappointed our Marni experts.

Although the space is full with Marni merchandise, much of the inventory is "from year one," our resident Marni expert reported. Most of the dresses are priced at just $195 but many of them are badly damaged and oddly shaped. (Oddly shaped beyond the standard deviation of Marni's unusual silhouette.)

One of the better items she found was a canvas coat, trimmed with fur. The price on this one-off was $1135. A three-quarter sleeve jacket for $355 was a much better deal, but again, there was only one. The sale has lots of pants and skirts along with shoes and lingerie--all of which, were not too popular with fans of the brand. "Who needs a plain sweater for $75 even if it is from Marni?" our expert questions.

The sale includes a very small collection of children's clothing (hot pink silk blouse $45, beige coat $80, cashmere sweater $75) and a bit more for men. We would skip the sale if you're focused on shopping for either category. Addition pictures from the sale are after the jump. Take note, most people who shopped, left empty handed or with very little loot. That's usually a pretty telling sign.

Inside: Day 1 of the Manolo Sale

For most people, the post-Super Bowl snowstorm was another weather disruption as part of a horrible New York winter. For those stranded in New York, flight cancellations just meant the perfect opportunity to shop Manolo Blahnik's final markdown.

Today was the first day of the bi-annual sale. Prices, as expected, run from $195 to about $325. The selection compared to past seasons, however, is much smaller. Usually the sale is comprised of almost everything from outgoing season. This time around, the sale merchandise is void of any basic colors and the normal classics. For instance, a classic boot in maroon is marked down but the black version is still full price. This normally is not the case and was a major disappointment to Manolo sale veterans.

Despite the demise of discount classics, there are still lots of great style shoes from which to shop. There is a full assortment of BB style shoes for $225. there's black and white, green, purple, teal and various textures. There is also an assortment of Hangisi jeweled pumps but they are also in non-classic colors. There is a full color assortment of Srilasca style shoes, which is a low heeled scalloped pump. There are a few styles of smoking slippers and Mary Janes. As usual, there is an assortment of exotic skin shoes but they are still very expensive at 50% off. (Best to buy exotics at the sample sale.)

Note that despite the snow, the boutique was quite crowded. Sizes were beginning to go quickly. This is one of those sales that you should not wait to attend. That being said, this isn't our favorite Manolo sale and we wouldn't suggest going too far out of your way to shop. Take note, the store does close from 2pm to 3pm. Lights go out and shoppers must wait for the store to be reorganized before entering.

Get Your Manolos for 75% Off

We have made it through two markdowns at Manolo Blahnik and the final price cut is finally here. Starting Monday, Manolo will begin their final markdown of the season. This four day sale is the perfect opportunity to stock up on classic and ornate shoes from the winter collection at up to 75% off.

This year, we are told that the saving are "not to be believed!" Styles are from the exclusive boutique collection and include some alligator. Prices are always marked by sticker dots, which usually range from $195 for a red dot up to $375 for a green dot. Most shoes and low boots-- even highly ornate styles-- are priced at $225. Last year, Lisa pumps were a budget friendly $225 and high boots were $325.

The store can get crowded but at least there isn't usually a long line to get in. The sale will only run for four days and styles and sizes run low quickly. If you're looking for a great deal we suggest you switch out of your heels and take a run over to the boutique asap.

Weekend Update: Emily Madison Linens Sale

While the boys are holed up watching the big game you can take some time to sneak away and beautify the boudoir. Premium luxury bedding company, Emily Madison is hosting a sample sale where a large assortment of merchandise is discounted 50%.

Emily Madison is best known for their bright and cheerful prints. The playful mix-and-match bedding are especially popular with teens, tweens and young adults. The brand is sold at some of the highest-end home design stores in the city, including the most well known downtown home good design emporium.

All of Emily Madison products are the highest quality and created by skilled European craftsmen. For example, the down pillows are made of all white Polish and Hungarian geese, which are fed organically and whose feathers are all hand gathered. The linens are 100% fine European cotton.

Quality is great but we especially love the colors of the bedding, that are as sweet as they are sophisticated. The comprehensive collection is complete with duvets, shams, dust skirts, decorative pillows and shower curtains. We suggest attending this sale as its rare that we see such discounts from such a high-end brand of quality and design.
