Gucci's Private Sample Sale Line Update

Gucci is hosting an invitation only sample sale at Soiffer Haskin. The sale, which runs through Sunday includes employees, press and friends and family.

As of 4am this morning there was already a line of more than 50 people standing in the chilly fall rain. Employees who were given early access to shop on Wednesday say that prices are nearly 90% off on many items. "There is an amazing assortment of shoes and loafers," said one sale attendee. The selection of bags is pretty "spectacular" too with prices starting at just $100.

We are told that Gucci employees submitted their invitation lists two weeks ago. So we don't even know if it would help to start harassing your friend's friend who used to work at Gucci.

There are rumors that the sale will open to the public but after the Hermes fiasco, we imagine that organizers will be squeamish about attracting large crowds. We are waiting for confirmation and will update this post as soon as we hear back. You can follow along on Instagram for up-to-the-minute updates.

In the meantime, we hear that shoppers are swarming Barneys for the 10am launch of the newest Yeezy collection. If you had lunch plans at Fred's you might want to consider an alternitive.

Gucci Private Sample Sale
Thursday, October 29th through Sunday, November 1
Thurs-Sat 9am-6:60pm, Sun 10am-2pm
317 W. 33rd St. (Soiffer Haskin)

No and don't bother. We were online since 7am this morning. At 6:00pm we still had not gotten in and security left the line (which bum rushed the door) and went inside to hide. Literally the WORSE sale ever... O and I was with two employees of Gucci who were not able to attend the employee only event. Gucci... FAIL MAJOR FAIL. The security had no control over the line. People were cutting the line and it was a mess. Gucci needs to get it together and take a page out of Louboutin's book because they know how to do a sale.

Thank you so much for the feedback. Sounds like a nightmare. I doubt that Gucci will open the sale considering that invited guests haven't been able to get in. Soiffer Haskin really needs to find a new system.

I was at the sale, got there about 6:30am, & I can't believe that the crowd was invited friends & family of Gucci employees. I have been to dozens of sample sales, this crowd was the WORST! Refused to listen to security when they tried to line them up, cut into line, let friends in w/them ahead of people who had been waiting hours even though security said outright that they couldn't do that! They seemed more like they were Kmart shoppers then Gucci shoppers! Even inside (I was one of the lucky few that got in!)everyone given a hour to shop "so the people in line outside get a chance too" and when the hour was up they refused to get in the checkout line. The organizer from Gucci was going around the room and begging people who were stock piling huge stacks of merchandise to please checkout so that other shoppers get a chance in the room and they were just ignoring her! The whole thing was awful! I have been to sales at SH before and they are usually the best sample sales - no pushing, no chaos, orderly but this crowd turned it into a free for all! Some of our Gucci employees need to get a better class of friends and family!!!!

Sounds like a nightmare? I'm starting to think that all of these people couldn't have been invited. People must have been using others' names and getting sneaky creative. It's not very hard to do!

any update on if there is anything left?

I was at the sale from 9-10:30am this morning. It went slow and dragged all the way to the end of the block, though others supposedly waited on line since 4. I wasn't on the list so I didn't make it in. Though people were stockpiling because prices capped out at $300 for the most expensive item. Shoes were $50.

I went with my cousin who was on the list who then told me what was in there and I told her what I wanted. If you can get on the list, it is worth it. We got there by 7, doors opened at 9 and she was outside by 10. Doubt it will open to the public tomorrow.

I went to the sale Thursday and saw how ridiculous the line was at lunch, and again afterwork. One girl said they had been on line since 4am, and it was 1pm and they still hadn't gotten in. After lunch I saw two women and one told me they were online since 2:30am and finally got in at 11am. ... Since I worked in the area I made an attempt on Friday .. I got lucky.. the Line was very short (maybe 30 people ahead of me) took me about an hour but I made it in. The selection was disappointing .. I guess the first groups that were out there overnight racked up! They were selling items that had sun damage, and other defects I felt like this was a garage sale! I understand the prices were great, but it's like they pulled out stuff that was sitting in the warehouse collecting dust. I did not expect this from a Gucci friends and family event. Reading the one comment above about how the crowd behaved is really disheartening..and shameful!! When I first arrived I thought it was opened to the public there were so many people! So I can only imagine how things got out of hand. The company that helped Gucci do this event needs a better system and Gucci employees and affiliates need to get a handle on who they invite!
