Barneys Warehouse Spring Sale

The thermometer certainly does not look like Spring but a nice discount can absolutely add sunshine to your day. Right now, Barneys Warehouse is offering an extra 40% off sale merchandise. The additional savings brings the discount up to 80% on some items.

Here's a print Thakoon dress with ruffles that comes to just about $300 from $1150. These white Derek Lam strappy sandals are about $240 from $970 and Stella McCartney sunnies are $70 from $225. The clearance sale may be even better for men. It's really worth sorting through.

The Spring promotions also includes non-clearance items. The discount is 30% and includes a wide assortment of Chloe bags, this Bottega Veneta print coat that comes to $650 from $3500 and Miu Miu rain boots from this past season are $250 from about $900.

This promotion runs until April 5. Be sure to also check out the home items and kids' selections. Shopping online is so much better than the conventional warehouse sale and the prices are just as good.

Henri Bendel Mid-Season Sale

Let's be frank about the prices of handbags--the prices are insane. Despite the insanity it's fun to indulge from time to time. Other times, however, it's fun to buy something new that doesn't result in financial guilt.

Over the course of the past year, Henri Bendel has launched a line of bags that are quite beautiful and affordable. The styling is classic and the colors are quite pretty. The best part is that the mid-spring sale has a large assortment of bags priced 30% to 50% off. There is also an additional 20% off online coupon that brings the discount to 60% on some styles.

Look at this pretty sea foam green cross body bag. The price is $114 from $228 and that's without any additional discounts. Here's a snakeskin clutch that's just $160 from $228 and here's a designer-inspired lizard satchel for $325 from $650.

Beyond the bags, there is also an assortment of jewelry and accessories included in the sale. A pretty pink leather cuff bracelet is $82 from $118 and an iPad Mini clutch case is $68 from $98.

DSW Union Sq: Valentino, Gucci and Fendi

It's conventional wisdom that New York has the best shopping in the world. We have the best sample sales and end-of-season consolidation always calls the Big Apple home. When it comes to deals at discount stores, however, the good stuff is sometimes sent far away. Other times we luck out.

This season, the DSW on Union Square has a great assortment of designer bags that could have you shooting south down Fifth Avenue-- straight past Bergdorf Goodman. A black Valentino Rockstud tote is $1800 from $2345, a conventional Gucci top handle bag is $500 from about $1000 and a two tone Fendi bag is $2000 from $2654. You can see pictures from inside the store right here. A lot of the same style are available online here but the colors differ in stores. Ironically, the shoe selection isn't very good.

Take note that DSW has lots of coupons and promotions. Right now, you can earn $10 back in a DSW Certificate for every $75 you spend. We suggest holding off and waiting for a straight discount code that ranges up to 25% off.

Bergdorf Takes a Final Bow at Last Call

If you've ever wondered what happens to all that wonderful merchandise at Bergdorf Goodman that nobody purchases, we have the answer. It pops up at the parent brand's discount store, Last Call.

Neiman Marcus Last Call stores have received new arrivals direct from Bergdorf Goodman. The discount usually starts at about 65% off original retail. Keep your eyes open, in past years we've spotted Chanel clothing discounted almost 90% off retail. We've also heard that the discounter receives Chanel bags from time to time but doesn't display them. We suggest asking a sales manager if you're on the hunt.

Last Call online also has plenty of good finds. An emerald green Oscar de la Renta coat is $1446 from $3790, J Brand skinny jeans are $64 from $178, a Christopher Kane dress is $214 from over $1000 and a Stella McCartney silk pajama-style top is $241 from $1150.

Participating stores include, Austin Brodie Oaks Shopping Center, Arundel Mills, Camarillo Premium Outlets, Fashion Outlets of Chicago, Franklin Mills, Grapevine Mills, Great Lakes Crossing, Gurnee Mills, Katy Mills, Milpitas Great Mall, Potomac Mills, Sawgrass Mills, Sugarloaf Mills, The Outlets at Orange, The Outlet Collection-Jersey Gardens, Livermore Premium Outlets, Arizona Mills, and Woodbury Common Premium Outlets.

Bloomingdales Friends and Family

The Bloomingdales friends and family sale began online today. Shoppers can save 25% with the code FRIENDS. Those looking for an in-store experience can presale now or being shopping on Wednesday.

Reiss Dress
For this sale, the designer exclusion list isn't as long as usual and includes a great selection-- especially if they are looking for early Spring sales. This season the discounts can be applied to brands like Dolce & Gabbana and Maximilian according to that fine print.

It's hard to keep thinking about coats but we were in love with this Maximilian lamb shearling coat with an oversized fox fur collar. It is very Winter 2015 and it's just about $1000 from $2800. These Paige Denim jeans are under $125 from $158. Right here is a powder blue asymmetrical Whistles top for about $125 from $160. The promotion is also applicable to sale items, which makes sorting through the sale section worth the extra time.

The friends and family sale ends online and in stores on Sunday, March 29. There's also free shopping on all orders over $150, which shouldn't be hard to reach.

Inside the Prada Outlet: In Florence

There are so many things to love about Florence: the food, the art and, ohhh yes, the shopping. As a matter of fact Florence is the birthplace of Italian fashion and couture. In the 1950’s it was the place where all the big Italian fashion houses showed their collections. It wasn't until the 1970’s Milan established itself as the capital or ready-to-wear.

For those who love to shop, there is no shortage of wonderful stores run by true artisans. With the euro back on our side, it's hard not overindulge. If you're looking for the most well known sale in the entire region, then you are going to have to head to the Prada Outlet. It's about a 40-minute train ride from the center of Florence and then a 10 euro cab ride to the designer's factory and outlet. (Make sure to get your taxi driver's card so that you can call him to pick you up once your done shopping.)

Before you walk in, take a number. This number will become your identity as you shop the store and have items kept at the register for you.

This isn't just any ordinary outlet. Space, as it is called, is huge and looks very much like a Prada store with lots of mirrors and "Prada green" walls. Men's and women's collections are divided; men to the left, women to the right. The store contains almost every item category sold at a designer store like, bags, jewelry, leather goods, nylon bags and accessories, clothing and shoes.

All items are discounted different amounts but the sections devoted to "Special Sale," are the best deals. Among the bags was a floral patent doctor bag reduced all the way to €805. The retail was close to $2000. A basic red leather clutch was €208 and most wallets were priced between €250 and €350. A red leather vault bag was €590.

Moving on to shoes, basic pumps raging in color from silver to patent pink were €215 and casual red line high boots were €280. This time around the women's department didn't have a huge selection of Special Sale shoes but the men's section had an abundance of sneakers for €75 to €150. (More pictures are right this way.)

In the clothing department there were lots of items designated "Special Sale," which are essentially samples. We found several skirts priced for €50 and dresses ranging from €50 to €300 with retail values going from $600 to $2500. Unfortunately, there were no more winter coats for women but there were a lot for men. Instead there were lighter weight jackets in a rainbow of colors.

Outside he "Special Sale" selection, prices were 30% to 80% higher. Seems like shoppers would do better just purchasing clothing at the boutique during sale season. Click here to see lots of pictures from our shopping trip.

As with any outlet, Prada's Space can be hit or miss, boon or bust. Just be sure to pack an additional bag to carry your purchases on the way home.

Chanel's Clothing Languishes at Bloomingdales

This season, Chanel took the very bold move and changed their discount policy to only one markdown a season. If you were shopping for clothing, the discount never made it past 40% off. Sales people were insistent that the winter stock was selling so well that further incentives were not needed.

Fast forward to mid-March and Bloomingdales shoppers will find an abundance of Chanel's winter leftovers tucked in the back of the Oscar de la Renta department.

The discount is still just 40% off and when Bloomingdales sales associates are questioned they just shrug their shoulders in confusion. Perhaps this should be a strong message to Chanel and it's customers that there are only so many people willing to pay top dollar-- even in a big city like ours.

Bergdorf Goodman 70% Off

Bergdorf Goodman is hosting an online sale where discounted merchandise is an extra 25% off, for a total savings of up to 70% off. The web-only sale runs through Friday.

The sale primarily consists of F5 labels, or contemporary designers, like DVF, Alice & Olivia and Cut25. There are also some great more fancy designer items in the mix, like this Christopher Kane dress that comes to $300 from more than $1100. Some of our favorite contemporary pieces include a Halston Heritage shift dress that's seemingly basic in front but dramatic from the back. Here are Manolo booties for $336 from almost $900 and these Jimmy Choo cage pumps are $450 from $1200.

The Neiman Marcus website is offering the same 25% off but the total discount is just 60%.

Banana Republic Extra 50% Off Sale

J. Crew's ex-head of woman's wear, Marissa Webb, started her new job redefining Banana Republic just about a year ago. After lots of fanfare and raised eyebrows, shoppers began responding to the changes and shareholders are applauding.

Sincerely Jules
Marissa has taken Banana Republic from workwear basics to everyday wear. The blue and white floral print is quickly becoming the most popular print for Spring. The midi-skirt, particularly combines several of Spring's hottest trends. The athletic-looking collection, on the other hand, is a season too late.

If you take a step back and look at sale merchandise. You will be happy to learn that all reduced items are an extra 50% off through Sunday, March 22. Just use the code BRSPRING at checkout. The sale is in stores and online.

Take note, this navy pullover is $27 from $90. You can start implementing trends for Fall now with this mock turtleneck that's $40 from $90. Wear a piece like this under a sleeveless v-neck dress to ward off early spring chills. Here's a Spring-like midi skirt that reminds us of a print from a recent Marni collection for $45 from $110.

The Best Sample Sales this Week

It may feel early in the season for sample sales but the frenzy is about to begin. This week there are dozens of sample sales scheduled all over the city. Obviously, no sane person could attend them all-- nor should try. Instead, we carefully curated a selection of our favorite sample sales for the week.

Scoop NYC
Tuesday, March 17th through Sunday, March 22nd
Tue 9am—8pm, Wed—Thu 10am—8pm, Fri—Sat 10am—7pm, Sun 10am—3pm
260 Fifth Ave (btwn 28th & 29th)
Usually Scoops big sales are at their Meatpacking store. Having a professionally organized "sample sale" indicates that there is more merchandise than the retailer can handle. We are told that shoppers can expect to save 75% off retail prices. The merchandise will include a selection of designer apparel, accessories, and shoes for men and women. Product examples include, an Alice + Olivia silk blouse for $55 from $220, a Clover Canyon lace dress for $75 from $300 and J. Brand's men's pants for $56 from $225.

Cut25 by Yigal Azrouƫl
Wednesday, March 18th through Friday, March 20th
10am—7pm daily
Chelsea Market, 75 Ninth Ave (btwn 15th & 16th)
The last few Yigal sales have been a bit of a bummer. Prices were too high and there weren't any real samples. We are hesitant to include this selection in our 'best of' list but there is a chance that the brand has a enough inventory to incentisize shoppers with truly good discounts. We are told that the discounts will be up to 80% off retail prices and include womenswear, overstock and samples.

Roger Vivier
Friday, March 20th through Monday, March 23rd
Fri 10am—7pm, Sat—Sun 9am—6:30pm, Mon 9am—5pm
Soiffer Haskin, 317 W 33rd St (btwn 8th & 9th)
The Vivier sample sale has become one of the most popular of the year with shoppers lining up from the day before. At last year's sample sale we found almost all the merchandise was reduced 50% to 60% off retail. Basic black pumps with no signature buckle started at $225 and long and ornate boots are priced up to $2000. Most buckle shoes were $300 to $350. A small assortment of little girl's buckle shoes were $200. Bags start at $525 from a small bag and go up to about $2000 for a more ornate evening clutch.

Frette
Friday, March 20th through Friday, March 27th
Fri Mar 20th 10am—9:30pm, Sat 10am—9pm, Sun 11am—8pm, Mon—Wed 7:45am—9pm, Thu—Fri 7:45am—9:30pm
C21 Edition, 21 Dey St (btwn Broadway & Church)
Century 21 is the newest venue to the sample sale arena. At the last Frette sale we found duvet covers for $195, top sheets for $95 and fitted sheets for $65. Plain bedsets were starting at $100 for full-sized and $249 for queen.

Krakoff Closing Madison Ave--75% Off Winter

Reed Krakoff is suspending design and production of his company and closing his Madison Avenue boutique, accounting to WWD. The uptown store will only be open for a few more weeks but the Soho store, the website and Woodbury outlet will continue operations.

Today's announcement comes as a big surprise as Madison Avenue sales associates were unpacking new spring shipments just last week. The store still had two sections of winter clothing that were all reduced 75% off and a small assortment of bags were 60% off. You can see pictures from our shopping trip last week right here.

If you pop over to the Reed Krakoff website, you will see lots of the clothing reduced 70% off and shoes and handbags are about 60% off. (A bit more pricey than the boutique but the selection is larger.) This circle lace dress is $650 from $2100 and a sweater with leather stripe sleeves is $327 from $1090. Among the bags selection is a classic Boxer for $645 from $1290 and a Soft Atlantique in anaconda and leather skin is $2495 from $4290.

Reed Krakoff will continue to run the company with a skeletal staff until additional investment is found or an alternate plan is made. Management is considering refocusing the company on the "accessible luxury segment of the accessories market," according to a statement given to Fashionista.

Reed Krakoff was the creative director of Coach for 16 years and started his eponymous label in 2010. The designer left Coach and purchased the brand with and investor group for an undisclosed sum of money. We suspect that the separation from Coach in 2014 made production costs skyrocket, which would have shaved profit margins remarkably.

Reed Krakoff is a master of cut, scale and texture and we hate to see the quality of his designs diluted for mass production. Krakoff is down but not out, for now.

The Outnet Clearance Sale 85% Off

Just when you start to dig into The Outnet's new products, the site begins its clearance sale. Right now, you can save up to 85% off a great assortment of fashionable fashion, so to speak.

Unlike many sales that boast big discounts, this sale lives up to it's hype. There are more than 500 items priced at just 15% of their original retail price. A Lanvin gold draped top is $322 from $2150, a Victoria Beckham is $390 from $2600 and a knit Prabal Gurung is $180 from $1200.

Before you check out, be sure to check out the jewelry. It's not often you find discounts steep enough to warrant the purchase of trendy items like these bright and large Shourouk earrings that are just $135 or an Isabel Morant bangle that's just $18.

Take note that items are selling out quickly. We suggest putting anything you like in your cart and not taking too long to check out. Few things are more crushing than proceeding to checkout and find that the items you want are gone.

Morgane Le Fay 80% Off

Morgane Le Fey is one of only a few independent designers who has a boutique on Madison Avenue and in Soho. The brand is able to appeal to both uptown and downtown girls because of its boho sensibility that's equally partnered with premium materials and conscience tailoring.

Last week, the brand started a downtown sample sale where spring and fall '14 merchandise are all reduced between 75% and 80% off. The selection includes lots of bridal gowns and evening gowns but also includes enough ready-to-wear at steep enough discounts to grab our attention.

We found a short-sleeved cotton jersey dress with a draped skirt reduced to $185 from $740, an oversized shirt dress is $210 from $840 and a wool coat with an overlap and closure is $445 from $1780. Head to the jump to see pictures of the items mentioned and more.

Save the Date: David Yurman Sample Sale

We hope you've been stashing cash because the David Yurman sample sale is set to start Thursday, March 26. Discounts normally range from 30% to 60% off retail and 10% of all proceeds on the first day of the sale will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

During the last sale we didn't find many classic Yurman pieces. We did, however, find a lot of Petite Albion items. Rings and earrings with semi-precious stones were 30% and 50% off, depending on the particular item. For example, silver and pearl varieties were 30% off. Most of the jewelry selection was composed of link-type items and a few cable styles. Most of the iconic cable pieces were discontinued just 30% off. The watch selection was quite limited, but all timepieces were 50% off retail.

We are very much in love with the colorful Yurman aluminum bangles ($350) but have never seen one at the sale. There aren't additional markdowns taken throughout the sale, so were suggest going early to get the best selection. The David Yurman outlet is always a good alternative if you can't find time within your day to make it to sample sale.

Intermix Clearance 85% Off

Intermix is hosting an online clearance sale where a very wearable collection of clothing is an extra 30% off. The additional discount brings the total savings over 85% off on some items. With this type of sale it's hard to choose what not to buy.

Take a look: A Jay Ahr casual blush colored sweatshirt dress comes to just $100 from $500, a Barabra Bui cashmere blend cape is $230 from $1500 and Tibi crystal heel wedge slides are $140 from $500. It's really hard to pass up Jean-Michel Cazabat black pumps for just about $100 from $500 and there is also a glitter leopard style for about $180.

While shopping, don't overlook the jewelry. This Missoni cuff is about $180 from $830 and a stack of seven Eddie Borgo rings are $140 from $500.

The sale is online and in stores but the last time we checked Madison Avenue there wasn't a lot left in the clearance racks. You might have better luck Downtown but shopping online seems easier than either!

Save Up to 25% on Shopbop

For a long time department stores have been luring shoppers with extra gift cards as shopping incentives. We'd prefer a straight discount over a gift card that either expires or ends up luring you to spend more than the face value.

Through the weekend, Shopbop is offering a shopping discount incentive that increases with the more you spend. Just use the code BIGEVENT15 at checkout. The discount breakdowns are below. The only restriction is Stuart Weitzman, which is great. You can use the discount on these Aquazerra cage pumps, which are a trending item for summer but not yet on sale anywhere. How great would it be to have a red moto jacket for Spring? This Iro lambskin is making us lust for warmer weather even more.

15% off orders of $250+
20% off orders of $500+
25% off orders of $1000+

You can also use the discount on sale items. These Belstaff moto boots will come to just $255 from $750, this Marcus Lupfer 'Easy Tigar' cotton sweater comes to $230 from $377 and this Rodarte scorpion dress comes to $1500 from $6620. That's about 80% off! That's just about the only type of math we can do.

The It-it: Charlotte Tilbury

The cosmetic line from British celebrity makeup artist, Charlotte Tilbury hit our shores last Fall and the fashion/beauty crowd has been buzzing as if it were the second coming of the Beatles. Naturally, we were skeptical. Did the beauty floor really need another make-up line?

After testing a variety of the products for the last few months, we can answer with a definite --yes!

As a matter of fact we loved the brand so much that we couldn't help from speaking to the legend herself. Charlotte told us, "I wanted to create a makeup range that was like a virtual consultation with one of the world’s leading experts. I simply poured all of my backstage secrets, tips and tricks into an easy-to-use, easy-to-choose format."

To ease the shopping experience, Charlotte divided the line into 10 distinct signature looks. The looks range from The Ingenue, which is designed for the Coachella-type girl who wears "denim cut-offs with the latest 'It bag" to The Glamour Muse, which was inspired by the Studio-54 girls, like Jerry Hall, Marie Helvin, Diane von Furstenberg and Bianca Jagger. They are the life and soul of the party and have the fabulous face (and dancing legs) to prove it," she describes on her website.

"You always channel an Icon or an Archetype (The Dolce Vita, Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Studio 54 etc.) to create a look – I want to help women make the correct color choices through the same approach," Charlotte says.

Although the colors and style may change according to each look, there are some product mainstays that remain constant regardless of the look. Wonderglow, which is a building block of the entire collection is unique as is much lighter than a normal foundation but has great coverage and adds a wonderful youthful glow to your skin. Filmstar Bronze & Glow has become a top contouring kit in beauty because it really is fail poof. The lipsticks have also been huge hits for their lively hues and hydrating properties.

"I won’t launch a product unless it works better and is easier to use than what is already out there. All of my products are treat and transform – it’s makeup with skincare benefits," Charlotte says. To further help women, each online product is accompanied with a youtube video that shows you how to best apply the product.

Charlotte Tilbury cosmetics are available at Bergdorf Goodman, Nordstrom, Net-a-Porter.com, CharlotteTilbury.com and BeautyLish.com. Once you try one or two of the products we know you'll be hooked -- just like us.

Couture Collective Begins Designer Fashion Rentals

We've all become familiar with the idea of fractional plane ownership and condo timeshares. Not so long ago Rent the Runway began offering the ability to borrow a variety of speciality event clothing from a wide range of brands. Now, the borrow option of clothing is becoming a lot more designer and fashionable.

Couture Collective (or Co.Co. for short) is the brainchild of Sallie Giordano.  The company allows members to buy fractional ownerships of high-end designer clothing. This season, the collection includes about 100 pieces from top designers such as Chanel, Valentino, Christian Dior, Stella McCartney and Elle Saab.

Further distinguishing itself from Rent the Runway, is the fact that there isn't a single gown or formal evening dress in the selection. Couture Collection is offers customers a variety of on-trend clothing that can be worn on a variety of occasions. One such item is a cropped Chanel jacket, which could be perfect for lunch at Freds or a board meeting. Other such items for spring is a iconic Dolce floral print dress, a Miu Miu print silk top and a Proenza top. A Roberto Cavalli peasant top is perfect with white jeans at the beach or more structured pants in the city.

Members of Couture Collective pay $250 for a full year of participation. Once you choose your favorite items from the collection you pay just 20% of the retail price which affords you five reservations with the item and unlimited last-minute-wears. Upon returning the item, renters pay for dry cleaning, which is about $45 for most items. There is no charge for pickup and drop off.

When the season is over, renters are given the option to purchase the item for an additional 30%. If you only want to wear an item once, you pay just 10% off retail.

For the next two days, prospective members can scope out and try on Couture Collective's entire spring collection at their bi-annual trunk show. The clothing will be at the Drawing Room, on the Upper East Side though Thursday.

Our only problem, as always with fashion, is that we would never want to give it up!

Couture Collective Trunk Show
Wednesday, March 4 through Thursday, March 5
10am to 6pm
@ The Drawing Room

Catching Last Year's Summer at 80% Off

It's so much fun to look at the clothing coming in from the new spring and summer collections but  there is often eye-bulging sticker shock once you get a glance at the tags. The best way to satisfy the impulse to buy is to head to discounters.

TheOutnet has recently started to post their new items for the season. Last year, we had a major crush on this cartoonish print Vionnet silk crape dress. At 78% off, the $5100 dress becomes a lot more affordable. There is a large amount of Balmain, much of which is reduced 70% off. You can save about a grand on these Alaia sandals that are now $640 from $1660. Not exactly summer, but these Christian Louboutin boots are reduced 60% off. Yes, 60%.

While you're shopping for summer. Don't overlook Iris & Ink collection, the Outnet's in-house brand. Among the best basics for summer are ultra-soft and fine cashmere sweaters for $235. (Yes, we felt them in person and the quality and texture is very nice, especially for the price.) Cropped pants are a must-have for spring and this basic pair for $200 is the perfect way to offset your statement top. If you're tired of the silly Mansur Gavriel waiting lists and rising prices just opt for this basic black tote bag with a red lining for $295.

We are told that TheOutnet will continue to add products throughout the month. Be on the lookout. the site also hosts weekly promotions with additional discounts.
