Manolo Blahnik Sample Sale (Say: Moo)

Exactly one year ago today Manolo Blahnik swung open the doors to their sample sale to the general public. We were very excited by the last minute decision because it allowed us to shop for $100 Manolos without the crowds or the wait.

This year, we are doubtful the New York public will be so lucky. That is, unless you're willing to take a road trip. Mark your calendars! On Saturday, November 14, Manolo overstock and samples will be available at UConn’s West Hartford campus. The entire inventory was donated by Blahnik execs, George Malkemus and Anthony Yurgaitis. The money raised will provide financial aid for UConn animal science students interested in dairy production or manufacturing.

We are told that prices will range from $150 to $450 and include an assortment of runway-ready stilettos, slides, slip-ons and boots ranging in size from 4.5 to 13. The sale follows a wildly successful sale in August in Bantam that attracted more than 1,000 shoppers.

We did a bit of research and suggest that you top off your Manolo hay-day with a weekend at Winvian Farm. The property is a five star, Relais & Chateaux resort that includes 18 individually-designed resort cottages, a luxury spa, a five-star farm-to-table restaurant and an extensive wine cellar. For reservations, contact Steele Luxury Travel and receive a free upgrade, complementary breakfast, a spa credit and lots of other special perks.

Here's to sample sale priced Manolos and a beautiful Fall weekend!

Gucci's Private Sample Sale Line Update

Gucci is hosting an invitation only sample sale at Soiffer Haskin. The sale, which runs through Sunday includes employees, press and friends and family.

As of 4am this morning there was already a line of more than 50 people standing in the chilly fall rain. Employees who were given early access to shop on Wednesday say that prices are nearly 90% off on many items. "There is an amazing assortment of shoes and loafers," said one sale attendee. The selection of bags is pretty "spectacular" too with prices starting at just $100.

We are told that Gucci employees submitted their invitation lists two weeks ago. So we don't even know if it would help to start harassing your friend's friend who used to work at Gucci.

There are rumors that the sale will open to the public but after the Hermes fiasco, we imagine that organizers will be squeamish about attracting large crowds. We are waiting for confirmation and will update this post as soon as we hear back. You can follow along on Instagram for up-to-the-minute updates.

In the meantime, we hear that shoppers are swarming Barneys for the 10am launch of the newest Yeezy collection. If you had lunch plans at Fred's you might want to consider an alternitive.

Readying for Balmain-mania With Balmain-Discounts

The Balmain collection for H&M is slated to go live on November 5th and the buzz is huge. We wouldn't be surprised if this launch is akin to the madness of the collaboration launch between Lagerfeld and the mega-store.

Prices of the collection start at $35 for tees and goes all the way up to $550 for a more ornate dress. (You can click here to go to Racked and see the full collection and prices.) Before you consider making a major investment in Balmain-style clothing we thought we would be wise to track down bonafide Balmain that's on sale.

Over on The Outnet there are lots of great Balmain items reduced up to 75% off. Here is an oversized metallic brocade jacket that's $1200 from almost $5000, a tee is $190 from $375 and embellished wedge ankle boots are $670 from $2700.

Over on Yoox we found some Balmain items reduced 80%. This graphic tee is $143 from $716, a blazer is $856 from $1861 and heels are $655 from almost $1200. From the worldwide boutique, FarFetch, there is a chevron pattern skirt that's $500 from $1230 and pants are reduced by half and are now $642.

Even Neiman Marcus has a few Balmain pieces reduced up to 60% off.

If these prices are still too steep for you, pre-owned and vintage is always a good alternative. Remember that not everything on resale sites is used. On TheRealReal we found these jeans that still have the tags and are priced at $200 and this skirt with tags comes to $640 from a retail value of almost $2300.

On eBay Balmain x HM items are already posted at several times their prices. This crystal blazer is priced at $2000 and the iconic mini-dress is $1700. Alternatively, you can side step the HM items and snag these pants from off the runway for $600 from $2800 or a sweater for $200.

We would prefer any of these options rather than go through the trouble of hiring a line-waiter or --heaven forbid-- waiting in line ourselves. After all, isn't one piece of authentic Balmain worth more than several pieces of a designer imposter?

Nordstrom Mid-Season Markdown

Nordstrom has quietly started a slew of mid-season markdowns. Brands like Burberry, Vince and Diane von Furstenberg are reduced from 40% to 60% off.

A wine color Vince leather jacket is reduced to about $600 from almost $1000 and a peacoat with a fur collar is just $500 from $1300. A collarless Burberry Brit shirt is $210 from $350 and this classic DVF wrap dress is near sample sale pricing at just $160 from nearly $400. While browsing, we also found this beautifully tailored Burberry London blazer and must-have classic black shearling jacket.

This sale hasn't been promoted yet. That means it's the perfect time to start cherry picking before the crowds start snapping up everything in your size.

Saks Online Clearance 75% Off

Over the weekend Saks Fifth Avenue started a clearance sale where a selection of reduced merchandise is eligible for an additional 20% off. Most of the selection looks as if it's from this past summer's collection but the discounts top 75% in some instances, making it worth checking out.

Head this way to find men's Brunello Cucinelli shirts that come to $260 from $655. For women there are Givenchy 'Birks" which are about $318 from $995, an Alexander McQueen blouse for $360 from $1125 and this Rebecca Taylor top is $88 from $275.

The prices are reflected as marked. These discounts are available through Monday and then prices go back up. At least, until the next weekend when they run a summer clearance sale.

Skip the Hermes Sample Sale

The Hermes sale opened to the public today and drew the biggest sample sale crowd EVER. Some shoppers waited 8.5 hours and were turned away when sale organizers told them to go home at 5:15pm.

"We were the first people on the line and we got there at 1am," says Robert Samuel, the owner of the line-waiting service Same Old Line Dudes. After three years in the business Samuel agrees that this was the longest shopping line ever. "It was like the iPhone line from hell." In addition to Samuel's video above, he sent us a montage of pictures that can be viewed in the link here.

At one point the queue spanned the equivalent of six blocks-- 33rd Street West to 9th Avenue, across the span of the post office and back around there-quarters of the way to 8th Avenue. Samuel had 12 of his staff waiting in line throughout the day and was on-site keeping track of the situation. He estimated that only 50 people were being admitted at one time and it took about an hour for each group to be let in.

One Madison Avenue Spy reader wrote to tell us that she used one of her four vacation days and waited for over 8 hours. She was heartbroken not to have gotten into the sale. "The people manning the line throughout did not communicate any time expectations or that they would be shutting down early," says the self proclaimed Hermes fanatic.

"I'm a huge Hermes collector and wear a different scarf and bracelet everyday. This requires me to save all my discretionary $$ so the annual sale is something I look forward to all year," she wrote. "My husband had also given me the go ahead to buy my xmas gift and I was hoping to find some great boots and a cashmere and silk sweater."

Samuel says that one woman standing in line admitted to taking her last vacation day of the year to attend the sale. She left the line crying after waiting several hours.

We reached out to Soiffer Haskin, the organizers of the Hermes sale, but didn't receive a reply.

Despite the exorbitant wait times, we are told that the entire process was orderly and emotions were held in check. Shoppers who did get into the sale early in the day report that supplies were already diminished.

Despite rumors to the contrary, we hear reports that there will be no restocking. Samuel says that several of his guys are already booked for tomorrow morning. His plan is to get there at 4am and "swap out" at 7am.

Our advice is to skip the sale. If this event continues to draw huge crowds, organizers are going to have to implement an appointment system. For now though, Hermes lovers are better off planning a trip to Paris. Prices along with the currency conversion will afford you a savings of about 40%.

Before You Go: The Row's Sample Sale

After experiencing orange overload at the Hermes sample sale we headed to The Row's sale. As always the ambiance was considerably more mute and civilized. This afternoon's VIP preview provided a wide assortment of the brand's timeless classics.

Prices are the same as last year. All clothing is discounted 70% off and bags are 60% off. We are happy to report that there are more bags than ever. We found lots of hobos and backpacks, along with clutches and handbags. They had Market Bags and this multi-pocket bag.

Folded on tables were the brand's heavenly sweaters that ranged in price from $285 to $450 after the discount. Over on the hanging clothing we found two to three racks for each size-- zero to 12. As usual, size zero had the smallest selection. This time around we didn't see many leather dresses or pants. There were only a few pieces in each size. Prices for leather goods range from $900 to $1200 from retail prices that span $3000 to $4000.

Among the clothing we spotted this Kenning dress for $180 reduced from $590 and this blouse that came to $237 from $790. We were very excited to snatch this long cashmere coat for about $870 from $2900 and this school boy jacket for $400 from $1325. We also found these polos for $255 from $850 and this Fessing coat that comes to $750 from $2500.

We were sad not to find any sunglasses.

After spending the morning with Hermes fanatics we were happy to be in the civilized company of The Row fans. As usual, this sale is always a welcome reprieve from the frenzy of most sample sales. While you're in the building be sure to check back at Bonpoint's sale. Prices were reduced to 75% off. Head this way to see our full review.

Inside the Hermés Sample Sale

Today was a huge shopping day. Both Hermes and The Row covered VIPs early access to their sample sales. Prices at both sales can make a rich girl poor but those shopping for Hermes or The Row don't suffer easily from sticker shock.

This morning we lined up with Hermes superfans to be the first to score discounted merchandise. Most of the lucky VIP ticket holders qualify by spending more than $100,000 a year with the company. Those spending less can sometimes score an invite from a compassionate sales person but if you're looking to get  a VIP ticket for next year--you should start shopping now.

This season the discount is better than ever. Most everything is reduced 60%. (Last year, the majority of items were marked down just 50%.) As usual, shoppers will find a nice assortment of silk scarves ($270) and ties ($75), twillies ($158), enamel bracelets ($172-$320), men's and women's clothing and  shoes and winter accessories. The sale has no cashmere or extra large scarves, watches, housewares, baby items or fragrances. There are almost no leather goods beside gloves and shoes: no cuffs, wallets, belts or other various accessories.

The shoe selection was fantastic. We were quick to get these tall leather boots. Be careful. We saw plenty of people snatching shoes while they were distracted finding the right size.

Shoppers are asked to check their phones before entering the sale. So getting pictures was difficult. Men's ties come to $75 from $180. Scarves come to $270 from $670. Among the identifiable scarf patterns was Tendresse Feline, Brandenburg, Robinson Chic, Bolides and Galop Chromatique.

Unlike some past seasons, this sale seems to have a nice assortment of clothing for both men and women. The size selection also seems to be better than ever with good options for men and women who wear larger sizes.

The weather forecast is very nice for Thursday, which is good because we expect the lines to extend several hours. If you're not up for standing for hours in midtown we would suggest waiting until the end of the day or waiting until the weekend.

Feel free to follow along and share comments and questions on Instagram.

Bonpoint Sample Sale Overflowing With Merchandise

The Bonpoint sample sale doesn't officially start until tomorrow but we were lucky to get our hands on this mini-sized luxury in advance of the doors opening to the public. As usual, the discount on everything is 60% off retail but this season's sale has more merchandise than we've ever seen.

Might we dare say, this is the best Bonpoint sale we've ever attended. Almost every category of merchandise can be found at this sale. The merchandise is mainly from last winter's collection and contains a full range of sizes from bun-out-of-the-oven to size 12. Some of the biggest gets from this sale are the wonderful baby accessories. We found gorgeous baby blanks, sleep sacks, burp cloths and hats. (An abundance of pictures from the sale are right here.)

There is a full selection of inventory for girls and boys. The most attractive department was the outerwear, winter accessories and boots.  Boy's puffer jackets are normally about $600 and reduced to $240. There are an abundance of girl's cashmere sweaters that come to about $180 from $300 and a cashmere turtle neck sweater that is $114 from $285. A knit hat was $46 from $115 and a scarf came to $66 from $165.

Taking a look at the shoes, there was a great assortment of boots and flats. Glitter ballerina flats come to about $102 from $255, a suede version with starts is $130 from $325 and biker boots are $144 from $360. Tights seem relatively expensive at $34 from almost $80.

For the boys, there are tons of button shirts that are $60 to $84 from $145 to $210. Trousers are about $60 from $200 and jeans are about $60 following the discount.

Lots of today's shoppers were buying on behalf of relatives and friends in addition to their own children's needs. Some people were also clearly stocking up on baby gifts and buying multiple pieces of the same item. Head this way to see pictures from inside the sale.

We expect that the line on Wednesday morning will be very long. We suggest heading over later in the afternoon-- when many shoppers are otherwise distracted with pickup and playdates.

Follow along on Instagram to be the first to get news from inside sample sales.

Inside 3.1 Phillip Lim Sample Sale

The Phillip Lim sample sale starts at noon today and we were lucky enough to scope out the merchandise early. When we arrived at about 9:30am, the line was already growing. We wouldn't be surprised if Wooster Street wasn't completely filled with anxious shoppers by the time doors open to the public.

Those waiting in line will be happy to find the huge, huge assortment of clothing for both men and women. Those looking for bags and shoes will not be as lucky. The selection was small and was going quickly. Prices are about the same as last sale with small bags going for $200 and large totes for $450. Clutches are the most attractively priced at just $150 but in order for a bag to be considered a clutch it can't have any strap or evidence of having a strap.

The shoe sections weren't nearly as popular as you would expect considering that all styles are just $100. There isn't a big stock of sizes but the assortment does contain a few knee and ankle boots along with pumps and flats.

As for the clothing-- there is a lot. Most of the selection is what was in stores last winter. The problem is that the merchandise is still very expensive for a sample sale regular. All leather jackets are $500 and shearling jackets are $650. This black leather jacket with a shearling collar sells on The Outnet for $860 from over $2300. So there is still a savings of about $200. (The full price list is right here.)

On the other hand this leather skirt is priced the same as the The Outnet ($350). The same goes for this sweatshirt that's $150 online and at the sample sale. On the other hand this scuba fabric skirt is priced at $100 at the sale but is over $200 online. Click here to see all of our pictures from our shopping trip.

There were no price reductions at the last Phillip Lim sale and we were told that there aren't any plans for further discounts this time around. We wouldn't make this sale a priority considering how many blockbuster sales are scheduled this week. Take note: the sweatshirts say Cash Only but all traditional forms of payment are accepted.

Sale pictures are on Instagram and below.

Inside Lanvin's Private Showroom Sale

This week is turning out to be a huge week for blockbuster sample sales. Just today we got wind that Lanvin is hosting a very private showroom sale where merchandise is all marked 80% off. Of course, we couldn't resist taking a peak.

As of Sunday afternoon, the door policy was quite lenient. Our mole was given permission to mention an employee's name and she was in. Unfortunately, that's where the excitement ended. The inventory is only one-fifth of what we found at Lanvin's spring sale. As a matter of fact, the merchandise seems as if it's warmed-over leftover's. We suspect that most items are three to four years old.

Among the bag selection there was one backpack and two small bags. The backpack was reduced to $300 from $1500. We found two pairs of sunglasses and just a few jewelry items. Most of the children's clothing is smaller sizes. The shoe selection only consists of about 20 styles. A pair of gold loafers were reduced to about $180 from $890. Most of the dresses were "ugly" and unremarkable, according to our mole. There are some red and black sweaters that don't register on the memorable scale along with small assortment of coats and blazers.

There were no lines and only about 10 shoppers when our spy was shopping. She left the sale empty handed but just spending time in the Lanvin showroom was thrilling. The sale ends Tuesday. We were told that there may be additional markdowns but we doubt there will be any restocking.

Unless you're in the neighborhood, we would suggest taking a pass on this sale based on the door policy and poor merchandise selection. Those looking to get a Lanvin fix can always head to the downtown Century 21, which usually has a pretty nice assortment at about 60% to 70% off.

Feel free to add any additional remarks or details in the comment section below. Head to Instagram to see pictures of what we found at the sale.

Weekend Shopping: Friends & Families and Sample Sales

There are so many reasons to love Fall: the colorful foliage, the clear blue skies and the fantastic shopping opportunities. This weekend is full of several friends and family sales and a few noteworthy sample sales too.

The Jimmy Choo sale kicked off today and be forewarned-- it's a mess! The lines are long and the inventory is all over the place. The attractive prices are the cause of the frenzy. Men's and women's shoes start at $200 for the most basic style for and go up to $375 for boots. A majority of the merchandise is priced at $250. We suggest taking a pass on this sale unless you and a friend are up to a Friday afternoon shopping adventure.

The Sandro sample sale runs through the weekend and there has already been a 20% price reduction since the sale started earlier this week. This sale is not a bad place to pick up an inexpensive pair of pants or a casual sweater. We wouldn't be surprised if there were even more discounts announced this weekend. We suggest hitting the sale on Sunday on your way to get a Dough donut. (Addicted!)

If you're not up for sample sale-ing, there are plenty of more civilized ways to spend your money. Below are a list of friends and family sales that run through the weekend:

Alexis Bittar-- Save 20% off sitewide and in stores. The discount is automatically applied to all fashion and fine jewelry. The promo ends Sunday.

Alice & Olivia-- The Stacey Bendet obsessed can save 25% off everything. The discount is automatically applied. Sale runs through Monday.

Milly- You can save 25% off the entire website. Use the code FALL15FF. Sale ends midnight Sunday.

Rebecca Taylor- Shoppers get 25% off online and in stores. Use the code RTFRIENDS15 at checkout. The sale runs through Monday. Be sure to check out the micro-pleated skirts and ice blue tweed and faux fur coat.

The Row's Private Sale

The Row is known for their mastery of proportion and sophisticated silhouettes. So when a sample sale rolls around, you know there will be throngs of brand fans looking to save a pretty penny on all the things they love.

The three day sale is called 'Private' but is open to the public. At last year's sale all clothing was discounted 70% off and bags are 60% off. Although this sale offers great discounts it can still cost you a pretty penny. The Row's customer doesn't blink an eye when faced with a $7000 price tag for a leather coat. Denim leggings retail for $450. You can do the math.

Every year, sweaters are the first items to go. Bags have always been plentiful but go fast. The assortment usually includes totes, backpacks, shoulder bags and satchels. You can expect to find most of the selection from this season's collection. Even if items are older, the styling of The Row is so classic that you would never know. Sizes run from 0 to 12 but there is only about half a rack of 0s.

The Row has become known for their very civilized sample sale. Dare we say, we enjoy shopping the sale more than Barneys!!

Be sure to follow along on Twitter and Instagram to get live inside information about this sales and more.

The Jimmy Choo sample sale is somewhat of a nightmare. There are lines, waits, hoarding, chaos-- everything we despise about sample sales. The one redeeming quality is the great pricing. We suggest avoiding the sale all together on Thursday and exploring on Friday if you're really that curious.

David Yurman
Thursday, October 15 through Sunday, October 18th

Thursday, October 22nd through Saturday, October 24th
Thrus & Fri 9am-7pm, Sat 9am-6pm
Soffer Haskin: 317 W. 33rd St. (near 8th Ave.)
Don't expect to find any leather goods at this swanky sale. Most other items-- clothing, shoes, scarves, ties, home goods and accessories-- are reduced about 50% off. This sale usually attracts crazy lines but look out for the VIP report to find out if the wait is worth your time.

Friends and Family Sale: Saks & Shopbop

The hugely popular Shopbop friends and family sale kicked off today. Shoppers can use the code INTHEFAM25 and save an additional 25% off most items on the site. Of course, the three day sale includes some designer exclusions but Shopbop's list isn't too bad. You can click here to see the full list of what items to avoid-- MCM, Victoria Beckham and Alexander Wang, Tory Burch are a few.

We always suggest you start your shopping in the 60% off department and work your way back. (Merchandise discounted 70% is final sale, and we tend to avoid online shopping if backsies are not allowed.) A Y-3 track jacket comes to just $100 from $360, shredded boyfriend jeans from Goldsign are about $80 from $280 and Vita Fede hoop earrings are $125 from $300.

Not to be outdone, Saks Fifth Avenue started their friends and family sale online too. The discount promotions begins in stores on Thursday and runs through that weekend. The discount is 25% off clothing, shoes and accessories and 20% off jewelry.

If you remember, last season, the Saks friends and family discount was 30% but that's not the case today. Shoppers can use the code THANKYOU to activate the discount when shopping online. The list of exclusions seems longer than ever. Some brands that are included in the discount are Alice & Olivia, MICHAEL Michael Kors, Milly, Moschino and Vince. The exclusions are so extensive that even Helmut Lang and Rag & Bone aren't participating.

The first big Saks markdown usually happens during the first week of November. We suggest hanging waiting until then if the items you fancy aren't included in today's friends and family.

The IT-it: Trump Trucker Hat

Lets put politics aside for a moment and take a closer look at the ironic trucker hat. In the early 2000's, the trucker hat became a mainstream fashion trend. Ashton Kutcher in particular is credited in helping popularize the fashion during his Punk'd days on MTV.
The trucker hat became the gateway to hipster alternative fashion. Though out the past 15-years the trucker hat has maintained it's place in ironic fashion and street style. It may also be the most iconic fashion statement of the 2016 presidential campaign.

Republican candidate Donald Trump's 'Make America Great Again' trucker hat is quickly becoming New York's must have fashion accessory. They sell out almost as soon as they come into the Trump Store-- located in the lobby of Manhattan's Trump Tower. The $20 hats are available in four different color combinations but red is, of course, the most popular.

When we visited the store early last week, the hats were all in stock but the tees were sold out. Surprisingly, there isn't an abundance of Trump 4 Prez marketing at Trump Tower. The counter traditionally sells golf centric Trump merchandise and now has a small selection of Trump presidential merchandise.

Take note that all candidate merchandise is logged as a campaign contribution. Shoppers are required to register their name, email address, employer and occupation so the campaign can report the info to the Federal Election Commission.

We caught up with Rob Garson who recently purchased the said hat. Garson is the managing partner of GS2Law, an international intellectual property law firm, and says he initially started wearing the hat as performance art. Reactions have ranged from "raised eyebrows by some, knowing nods by others, and smiles from many. I also don't think my doorman is speaking to me anymore," Garson says.

Despite there risk of alienating his doorman, Garson says he will continue to wear his hat until Trump does something so despicable that he can't. "It's so exciting!"

The Best Columbus Day Sales

Celebrating finding America isn't what it used to be. Banks are open and so is the the NYSE. Chances are, if you're not in a union-- you have work. Even so, it is the perfect day to go "sailing." Shopping online is just too easy, especially when online discounts are better than much of what you'll find in stores. Here are a few of our holiday favorites:

Barneys Warehouse
The famous Warehouse (website) is offering shoppers an additional 30% off almost everything on the site and an extra 40% off clearance merchandise. Lanvin python shoes are under $400 from almost $1900 and a small circle fringed cross body bag is $48 from $145. If you're looking to splurge on a big ticket item, take a look at this Proenza Schouler PS11 croc tote that comes to just $8000-ish from $18,500.

The Outnet
A curated collection of merchandise is an extra 25% off select styles. Metallic Nicholas Kirkwood pumps are $225 from $675, a Roland Mouret asymmetric top is about $250 from $800 and a classic black Stella McCartney dress is $500 from $3270. (That's about 85% off!)

Banana Republic
Select merchandise is 50% off and all the rest is discounted 40%. Boyfriend jeans come to $50 from $99, a grey peacoat is $150 from $300 and a faux leather short sleeve top is $42 from $75. We suggest you take advantage of this season's collection if you're a fan of Marissa Webb. She has already stepped down as creative director.

Tibi Online Sample Sale

Tibi's effortlessly cool essentials are available online at up to 80% off during the company's sample sale. The online-only sale runs through the weekend and ends Monday.

Most of the merchandise seems to have come from this past season's summer collection. We would suggest the sale would be more appropriately named a 'clearance sale' as there are no samples. Sale highlights include, a strapless cotton shirt dress that's reduced to $155 from $625, a gorgeous crouched vest is $110 from $550 and a white ribbon midi-skirt is $165 from $550.

Take note, that all sales are final. So be sure that whatever you buy you will want to wear next summer.

Coming Soon: Hermes Sample Sale

This is turning out to be a big month for Hermes lovers. Later this week the Hermes-Apple Watch will be available at big Orange and the Fruit. Those who aren't satisfied with glitzy technology on a strap can hold out for the French retailer's sample sale that will take place later this month.

Peepy and Mother Lee

Last year, the Hermes sale is better than the past several sales but brand veterans were still were not very impressed. Most everything was priced at 50% off retail. Shoppers can expect to find a nice assortment of scarves and enamel bracelets.

The last sale had no leather bags, wallets or small leather items. We also didn't find any leather bracelets or belts. Ties were plentiful as were shoes and boots. The best items, were the Cape Cod watches, gloves and hats. The sale also included a bit of china and clothing.

One thing that was abundant were the limits. For obvious reasons, each shopper could only purchase three scarves, five bracelets and 10 ties. We heard that some sales people will hold scarves so that you can take another pass at the checkout line.

Saks Off Fifth Prices 70% Off

What's better than a department store sale? A sale at the department store's outlet. Right now, Saks Off Fifth is hosting a friends and family sale where discounts have dipped below 70% off.

The best part is some of the highly reduced merchandise is some super fashionable high-end designer merchandise. Granted, most of it was over priced to begin with but these discounts make haute fashion a lot more attainable. A Jason Wu jacket made of fox and mink is reduced to just $2000 from $15,000, an even more stunning summer 2015 leather fringe dress from Giambattista Valli is also $2000 from almost $12,300 and a Lanvin stunner with lace appliqué is $1800 from $7300.

Some more reasonably priced items include a J Brand mini skirt that's $70 from $228, a Wildfox sweatshirt is $55 from $108 and a Yigal Azrouel cape blouse is $175 from almost $700.

There are also a lot of great options if you're looking for cruise, which should be coming into stores any day now. That's a good excuse -- if you needed one.

Kent & Curwen Sample Sale 80% Off

Kent & Curwen is perhaps best known for recently signing a deal with David Beckham to revamp the company'a image. After all, the British heritage brand has not been very successful in crafting a strong identity despite many failed attempts.

As with most designer revamps-- think Gucci-- it's out with the old. In sale terms we can define that as a liquidation sale, or um, a sample sale.

Right now, Kent & Curwen's suiting and sportswear is reduced up to 80% off. Our spies scouted the sale and report the inventory is mainly from the brand's fall 2014 and spring 2015 collections. Suits are priced at $395 from about $2000, shirts range from $50 to $70 and some coats are just $50 from almost $1000. Ties are $15 from $125 and then there is a deal that if you buy three, you get the fourth free.

We are also told that the pricing is flexible, which means that you might be able to get an even more favorable deal if you are buying copious amounts of merchandise. The sale is at the company's Trump Tower showroom and runs through Friday. We would just suggest heading over quickly if you plan to look as good as a Beckham without spending a baller's salary.

Kent and Curwen
Through Friday, October 9
11am to 6pm
725 Fifth Avenue/Trump Tower, 14th Floor

Ferragamo Sample Sale

It's been a long time since there has been a Ferragamo sample sale. If you remember correctly, the 2011 sale, at the company's warehouse, ended in mayhem and needed to be cancelled. There hasn't been a good company sale since.

It's understandable that we were excited to find out that the legendary Italian company will be hosting a sale at C21 -- Century 21's new-ish sample sale space. Details about the sale are very hush-hush but we have an oath that the deals will be incredible.

Only time will tell if this sale lives up to past sale expectations. Those old warehouse sales were legendary for their amazing finds.
