Man Repeller's Debut Shoe Line Sells Out

Michael Jorden tried his hand at baseball, The Rock successfully crossed over to acting from pro-wrestling and J. Lo started out as a fly dancer on In Living Color. Sometimes the crossover works and other times it's a epic fail. Trying something new is scary and exhilarating.

For this reason we are so excited to see the amazing success of Leandra Madine's debut collection for Net-A-Porter. The famous blogger's shoe line — which ranges from $350 for lace-up flats to $795 for velvet over-the-knee boots — went live on Friday. Already, several styles are nearly sold out.

The collection consists of only 10 shoe styles but the designs and names make them nearly irresistible. The 'Lol If You Think I'm Walking' sandals are plush velvet platforms embellished with gold stars and studs. The 'I'm Here To Party' are bubble gum ankle high boots that embossed velvet and offset by metallic navy leather trims.

Our favorite style, and not cooinsidentally, the most popular are the 'The Alternative to Bare Feet' loafers that are made of crusted pink velvet. They are both masculine but girly, which is true to the Man Repeller's personal style.

We celebrate Leandra for stepping into new shoes. We don't expect that any of these styles will make it to sale season but you can be sure we will buy more if they do. We can't wait to see what's to follow.

The Lowdown On Shoe Sales: Manolo, Louboutin & Olympia

November is turning out to be the trifecta in shoe sample sales. Manolo, Louboutin and Olypmia have have all planned to unload their overstock this coming month. Like any triathlon these sales will test your endurance and your loyalty to sample sales.

In light of the current onset, we thought we would create an official survival guide. Anyone who is adverse to long lines or crowds is better waiting for a good markdown. Read on if you're willing to take the plunge and play footsie with the big girls.

Doors open to the public at 11am
Warwick Hotel, 65 W 54th St. & 6th Ave, 2nd fl.

Manolo Blanhik is one sale that treats its sample sale customers like, well, customers. Attendees are invited to take a number, in this case letter, and come back in a specified amount of time. Alterntivily, shoppers can wait in the ballroom.

Most shoppers usually start arriving by 7am and watch the VIPs walk away with bags of loot. As you would expect, a morning of editors shopping with Andre Leon Talley can wipe out a lot of merchandise.

Charlotte Olympia

Madison Avenue Boutique
Harlene 347-307-0145

We couldn't be more excited to grab shoes from the quirky Brit. At the last sale, Kitty flats were $250 and more ornate style boots ran up to $600. The best styles get snatched up quickly. If you want the best selection we suggest you don't hesitate-- there isn't any restocking.

We are told that most of the selection will be from this past spring/summer season. There will also be bags and other great accessories.

This sample sale will be quite busy and we expect there will be a bit of a wait. If that's not your style, you can head to the Madison Avenue boutique starting November 7 and pre-saling fall styles priced at 50% off.

Christian Louboutin
Date: TBD
Daily 9am to 5pm
307 W. 38th St.

The Christian Louboutin sale is the most difficult to infultrate. To break into this vault of red soles you're going to have to leave the cyber world and make some real world friends. Lucky we have good friends who pass on the info.

This sale is invitation only and invitees are not even allowed to bring a guest. We suggest that those who are clawing for an invite reach out to anyone they know who has a relationship with the company. That means Louboutin retailers or those at the top ranks of editorial.

Lucky we have good friends who secretly pass along the details. We will be sure to post more information as soon as they become available. The sale usually takes place in November but last year, we were thrown a curveball with the December sale. Unfortunately, we were blacklisted from attending and aren't able to help anyone (including ourselves) get into the sale.

Prices at Louboutin usually start at the $225 mark go up to $550 for boots. There's no restocking and by mid-week most sizes are almost completely sold out. Those who wear a size 6 or below or 9.5 and above usually can take adavantage of the most fuitful selection.

Before You Go: The Row's Sample Sale

After experiencing Hermes,  it's nice to take it down a notch and enjoy the more quite luxury offered by The Row. As always, the ambiance at the VIP preview was considerably more mute and civilized that then anarchy that surrounds Hermes. This annual sample sale offered lots of timeless classics but, this season, there were some spots of disappointment.

As in past years, clothing is discounted 70% and bags, accessories and sunglasses are 60%. This season, exotic items and fur are discounted only 40%. (Disappointment #1)  On the bright side, the sale had lots of bags, including backpacks, giant hobos, market bags and the multi-pouch shoulder bag. Sunglasses are normally priced between $430 and $510 and range from about $150 to $200 after the discount.

There is nothing to be found of the newly launched shoe line. (Disappointment #2) There are also no leather pants. (Disappointment #3)

Most of the accessories and clothing seem to be from last winter's collection. We found a few items that are in stores now, like this shearling lined leather jacket that comes to about $2700 from $5590.  The sale also included lots of sweaters and blouses. The Row's sweaters normally run from $850 to $1100 and blouses are usually priced between $750 and $1100. So prices are almost semi-affordable after you account for the discount.

Despite some disappointments there is still a large enough assortment to keep a fan of the brand satisfied. We are especially looking forward to the new Madison Avenue store's end-of-season sale. We heard that last season, the West Coast store offered discounts of 70% and we hope to we can take advantage of a similar discount opportunity.

The Met Gala Inspired Comme des Garçons

This Spring, the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute will pay homage to Rei Kawakubo, the founder of Comme des Garçons, in an exhibit titled the Art of the In-Between. The exhibit will not be a traditional retrospective. This is the first time since the 80s that the Institute will showcase a living designer.

Comme des Garçons is well known for challenging conventional notions of beauty, good taste, and, ultimately, fashionability. The exhibit will feature about 120 Comme des Garçons womenswear designs by Kawakubo, dating back to the label’s first runway collection in 1981, all the way to her most recent shows.

“Rei Kawakubo is one of the most important and influential designers of the past forty years,” said the Costume Institute’s curator in charge, Andrew Bolton. “By inviting us to rethink fashion as a site of constant creation, recreation, and hybridity, she has defined the aesthetics of our time.”

The exhibit pre-opening party, better known as the Met Gala, always takes place on the first Monday in May. This year, it's May 1. You can bet that the red carpet will be almost entirely dressed in black. After all, the brand’s all-black Paris debut was dubbed “Hiroshima chic”.

With only seven months to prepare, we thought we would begin a running CDG (Comme des Garcons) collection that includes a variety of vintage and new items. We will continue to keep the selection updated and hopefully you will be fully armed and inspired by the time May comes around.

Annabelle Sale is Fur Real

As much as we dream of endless Summer, we would be lying if we didn't admit how much we love the change of season. Dipping temperatures are a wardrobe opportunity. As the mercury slides south we add layers and top it all off with the most amazing fur we can find. The best part is that we  know exactly where to shop for the most fabulous fur.

Starting tomorrow, Annabelle will be hosting its annual three-day fur sale. Prices will be at wholesale and below on a selection of real and faux fur coats, jackets, vests, hats, gloves and other cold winter accessories. There will also be real production samples available at fur-tactic discounts. Prices start at just $50.

Once you're geared-up and looking great, it won't matter if it's cold, cold, freezing.

A Quiet Hermès Sale: Manhasset, NY

If you followed our advice, you made sure to stay far away from the Hermès sale at Soiffer Haskin. At last count, we were told that the line spanned more than 900 people. The worst part is that there wasn't any jewelry or any leather goods.

If you're looking for discounts on Hermes, our friend Jim Shi, says that the Americana Manhasset Hermes boutique has opened a pop-up shop a few miles away . Everything at the Wheatley Plaza store is discounted 50% off retail.

There are no handbags but there are lots of enamel bracelets and a great selection of clothing and shoes from prior seasons. Jim tells us, there are lots of Collier de Chien and Kelly Dog bracelets, cashmere blankets and a great assortment of home goods.

The Manhasset sale is open to the public through Friday, October 28. There are no purchasing limits. This isn't the first time we've uncovered this outside-of-Manhattan sale. Here is our coverage about the of the sale in 2013. It would be great help if anyone attending the sale added details in the comment section below.

Neiman Marcus: Extra 25% Off Clearance

Neiman Marcus started an online promotion where many sale items are reduced an extra 25% off. The big surprise is that the online clearance section was recently updated with a full assortment of amazing designer items.

Upon browsing, we found lots of Derek Lam from this past summer's collection. Here's a print tunic that's reduced close to 80% off and this fur and leather trim coat that rings in under $1500 from $6000. It's is just too good to resist.

Among the clothing, we found lots of Carolina Herrera that comes to about 70% off retail. Check out this dramatic tweed ball skirt that is about $1400 from $5000 and a black and white water-print column gown is $1500 from $6000.  Heading to a  different designer, we found this Emilio Pucci zig-zag leather miniskirt that's a must-have for $480 from $2130.

Among the shoes we found lots of styles priced along the lines of what you would find at a super sample sale. The size options on these Aquazzura wedges are limited but if you're lucky you can take them home for under $150 from $700. Gianvito Rossi velvet pumps are only about $200 from nearly $900. and we are having a hard time resisting these suede Alexandrew Birman low boots that come to $288 from $1280.

In the case you ever questioned the success of the Kendall & Kylie collection, we found lots of items reduced over 90% off. That's before the promotional markdown. This crop top is $75 from nearly $1000. Here's another priced exactly the same. It might be worth buying just for the laughs.

The promotion runs through Tuesday. Neiman Marcus doesn't do these extra 25% off sales very often. We suggest you take advantage while the opportunity presents itself-- or you'll  be sooooorry.

Hermes Sample Sale is a Snoozefest

There is so much excitement and anticipation that goes into sample sale shopping. The thrill of the hunt and finding hidden treasures can get any fashion lover's adrenaline pumping. The Hermes sale once was the centerpiece of the sample sale calendar. This year, however, those attending the VIP press preview report it's a total bore.

As is often the case, there are no leather items-- like bags and wallets. To make matters worse there are no enamel bracelets or any jewelry whatsoever. The discount is also less than previous years with markdowns of just 50% for most items. So what will you find? Silks! The sale is loaded with silk (and cashmere) scarves and a plethora of ties.

Our spies also report a nice assortment of shoes, including boots, sandals, heels and flats. Most people don't come to the Hermes sale for the clothing but there is plenty of ready to wear along with a variety of winter items, like scarves and gloves.

The worst parts about this impending sale are the lines and the wait. Last year, it was a disaster and insiders say that there will be no change to the system of getting into the sale. The only hope is that shoppers will be scared stay away for this sale round. We aren't quite so optimistic.

Below is a recap of brand new Hermes items you can find online. Some items are even priced less than they would be at a sample sale. No wait, no fuss. Not so much thrill either but we can do without the aggravation.

Bonpoint Sample Sale: Winter is Coming

It's hard to believe it's mid-October when temperatures are topping 80-degrees. We wouldn't complain a moment about wearing shorts for Halloween, we all know that this warm streak won't last. Yes, Winter is coming!

The timing of Bonpoint's sample sale couldn't be more, um on point. This year the sale is fully stocked with a large assortment of winter merchandise, including boots, coats, sweaters and winter accessories. As always the discount is a straight 60% off retail but shoes, this year, are discounted 70%. There are a full range of sizes from bun-out-of-the-oven to size 12.

The selection is actual current season merchandise. At the sale we found this cashmere 'fur' vest for $400 from $1000, this boys v-neck sweater is $52 from $175 and is available in a variety of colors as is this cashmere mock turtle neck that's now $120 from $300. Heading over to the girl's merchandise there is this trompe-l’oeil effect bow sweater that's $92 from $320. You can click here to see pictures from inside the sale.

During the press and VIP preview we saw lots of shoppers buying on behalf of relatives and friends in addition to their own children's needs. Some people were also clearly stocking up on baby gifts and buying multiple pieces of the same item. Head this way to see pictures from inside the sale. The coats and jackets were the most impressive selection and obviously the most attractive.

We expect that the line on Wednesday morning will be very long. If you don't have a nanny who doubles as a line waiter, we suggest heading over later in the afternoon. By then most shoppers (ie: moms) have afternoons distracted by school pickup and playdates. If you're brave you can wait until the final day of the sale where discounts on some items go to 80% off retail.

Follow along on Instagram to be the first to get news from inside sample sales.

Beauty Update: NARS Lip Velvet Glide

You're briskly walking and suddenly realize that you have 30 minutes to kill. What do you do? There are always many options but most of them require consuming lots of calories or browsing boutiques which can easily lead gratuitous overspending. We usually find that a nearby Sephora or local makeup counter is the safest entertainment.

The last time I found myself innocently touring a beauty department, I fell upon the brand new NARS Lip Velvet Glide ($26). It was an instant hit. The product is the perfect hybrid between a lipstick and a gloss. I know you've heard that claim dozens of times but Lip Velvet is the real deal.

The formula is high-pigmented and the product simply glides across your lips. The product feels like silk on my lips and I find myself applying it on top of other lipsticks because I simply love the soft velvety feel. I went with a neutral color called Bound because it is perfect for that early morning no-makeup look.

The claims say the gloss is long lasting but it realistically lasts about the same amount of time of any other lipgloss or lipstick. Frankly, that's not a problem because it feels so nice to put on more. I just need to pick out more colors and the timing couldn't be more perfect.

Right now, NARScosmetics.com is offering a complimentary three piece gift when you spend over $50. The gift with purchase includes three mini lip glosses in Orgasm, Baby Doll, and Chelsea Girls. Just use the code GLOSSEDUP at checkout. This promotion runs through October 31.

In the meantime, please share if anyone a more productive (read: less costly) way to spend 30 minutes between school pickups, lunching or coffee or drink meetings.

Coming Soon: Gilt City Warehouse Sale

We aren't historically fans of pay-to-play shopping parties but the Gilt Warehouse Sale could be an exception. The sale starts this Friday, and early access tickets can be purchased here. There are several ticket options that start at $20 for late night access on Friday and range to free access on Sunday. Tickets for first dibs are already sold out but were $25.

The price of the ticket includes free wine and sake, Hostess cupcake and large crowds. The selection will include items from Chloé, Valentino, Derek Lam, Jimmy Choo, Lanvin, Oscar de la Renta and Tom Ford. Prices will be reduced up to 80% off retail.

We were given a little peek at the products that will be included in the sale and were in shock to see a sky blue Saint Laurent Sac de Jour Carryall for $530 from $2650, Charlotte Olympia Kiss Me Betsy boots for $239 from $1195 and a Helmut Lang Leather Jacket for $419 from $2095. We suspect that these items will are variably unicorns that will be sold during the press preview but the inventory will be enough to leave options for everyone.

Expect the shoes and handbags to go fast. We suspect that most of the inventory will be lower-end and contemporary designer merchandise. The clothing racks, on the other hand, will likely be overflowing.

If you're not into overcrowded sample sales there is always the traditional Gilt online shopping. We are in love with the stock at the current Miu Miu sale, which is only reduced about 20% off retail but the selection is really tops. The current coat sale has offerings from Fendi, Prada and Givenchy and most items are discounted 50% off.

Gilt City NY Warehouse Sale

Tickets are here and range from free to $20 depending on shopping session

Shopbop Spend & Save 30%

For a long time department stores have been luring shoppers with extra gift cards as shopping incentives. We'd prefer a straight discount over a gift card that either expires or ends up luring you to spend more than the face value.

Through Friday, Shopbop is offering a shopping discount incentive that increases to an amazing 30% off. Just use the code MAINEVENT16 at checkout. The discount breakdowns are below. You will notice that these discounts are much higher than they have ever been.

There are really very few restrictions, including Canada Goose, Sydney Evan, Veronica Beard and Jonathan Simkhai. We suggest you go straight for the items that are usually excluded from these types of promotions like this popular sticker Anya Hindmarch tote and this Charlotte Olympia lips bag. Check out these Aquazzura over the knee boots and these classic Vara flats from Ferragamo.

How great would it be hide in this powder blue fox stole that accompanies the Prabal Gurung biker jacket? This Cedric Charlier shearling jacket is making us long for cooler weather.

25% off orders under $500+
30% off orders over $500+

You can also use the discount on sale items. These Erickson Beamon earrings will come in under $200 from $525, these LK Bennett OTK suede boots come to about $440 from $725.

It's times like this that we wish that Shopbop carried Gucci too!

The Best Shearling Coats and Jackets

The weather is starting to get nippy and we can't bear the idea of starting a whole new season in the  coats we essentially lived in last Winter. Yes, it's time for a outerwear makeover.

In New York, fashionable outerwear is more important than perhaps anywhere else. We basically walk (when we aren't Ubering) everywhere and besides looking good we need to be warm. New York Winters can be brutal.

This season, shearling is taking over in a huge way. It's warm and less bulky and delicate than fur. We've found that Nordstrom has one of the best selections and includes almost any style you can desire. This Rick Owens shearling jacket is more art than fashion and Marc Jacob's varsity jacket lined in shearling will keep you warm way past the end of baseball season.

Over here is a Chloe jersey and shearling jacket that also incorporates the patchwork trend, which is also a huge trend. This Acne Studios jacket is the perfect color camel and the belted tie adds a bit of shape and femininity. You can't go wrong with this long wool Lowe coat, which is lined with shearling. It's sophisticated, dressy and warm. The perfect combination.

A few less expensive options include this Hide Society classic camel shearling coat that is nipped at the waste and perfectly covers that exposed, um, behind. A white Topshop moto jacket is lined with shearling but will be a beast to keep clean. On the flip side, it will look excellent against the grey New York backdrop.

Some guilt free options include this Ralph Lauren faux shearling coat that  is just as warm feels almost exactly like the real thing. The best part is that it's a fraction of the price of real shearling. A more casual option is this Vince Camuto jacket that has a faux shearling lining and a faux buffalo leather exterior.

As always, online shoppers should take advantage of Nordstrom's great customer service, which features free shipping and free returns. If only all stores were as easy to shop as Nordstrom

The IT-It: Waste Trainers and Corsets

The origins of the corset is unknown but the goal has remained consistent: to lift the breasts and cinch the waist. A tiny middle of just 18-inches has been a mythical goal for centuries and fashion achieving the goal by turning the look inside out.

Slowly, slowly we have seen the resurgence of the corset or, now called, the waist trainer. Kim Kardashian showed off the secret to her hourglass figure this past Summer, which happens to be the inexpensive Ann Chery Waist Trainer. Supposedly, the latex core garment is supposed to redistribute fat cells but we are more realistic and would be satisfied with the cosmetic outcome.

Coming this Spring, corsets and waist trainers are destined to become a outer garment as well as an undergarment. On the most recently runways collection, designers ranging from Versace to Balmain, spotlighted the nipped middle. They are sown worn over dresses, as dramatic belts and lace-up blouses.

Knowing how strong this trend will be, we started looking at what we can find in stores now. Alaia is known for putting emphasis on the waist with shapely belts, this season's Prada corset belts were one of the most photographed items throughout 'Fashion Month." Alexander McQueen designer, Sarah Burton's corset dress give a great illusion and makes the waist look tiny-tiny. There are some great Balmain items too, like this strapless Bubble dress and a Corset Bodice dress.

We are quite excited to celebrate the voluptuous body. and all its curves After all, as the saying goes-- waist not, want not.

Norstrom Rack Discounts of 80%

Discount shopping isn't what it used to be. Most stores are filled with stock specifically made for the specific discounter. A small amount, usually around 20% of the merchandise, is bonafide designer merchandise.

To find the best true deals it's often best to look for the premier designer duds. Right now, Nordstrom Rack is hosting a clearance sale where plenty of Etro, Fendi, Valentino and, even, Vetements are reduced to about 80% off. No doubt that many of these items are real runway items that were shipped off from your local Nordstrom store.

Online we found this color block Altuzarra v-neck gown is $480 from almost $2000, a Valentino raffia fringe dress is $750 from $4000 and a Dolce & Gabbana cropped blouse is $660 from $2750. This printed Roksanda maxi-skirt, that's reduced to $430 from $1700, is versatile and stunning.

Unfortunatly, the handbag selection and shoes aren't nearly as good. We suggest you stick to the clothing when searching for the best deals at discount stores. This Nordstrom Rack clearance only runs through Monday but keep your eyes open. The store holds assorted limited promotions where the discounts are similar.

Hermes Sample Sale Alternatives

We hate to turn readers away but we highly suggest you click somewhere else if you don't want to hear the truth about the Hermes sample sale. So, here goes... The Hermes sample sale is a disaster that best be avoided.

The thought of even mentioning the sale at all makes us cringe but we prefer to set the story straight while others emit hype. Last year, many Hermes sample sale customers waited in line for 8.5 hours and were sent home at 5pm without gaining admittance. You can see the full story and video right here. At one point, the queue spanned the equivalent of six blocks-- 33rd Street West to 9th Avenue, across the span of the post office and back around around to 8th Avenue.

At past season's sales, where the chaos was minimal, shoppers found a nice assortment of silk scarves ($270) and ties ($75), twillies ($158) and enamel bracelets ($172-$320). The sample sale never carries leather goods or bags. Footwear is about the only option if you're looking for classic Harmes hides.

These days, there are so many other options if you want to purchase past season Hermes merchandise. One of our favorite online destinations is TheRealReal, where everything on the website is authenticated and guaranteed by their experts. Head this way for a Mini Etriviere 4 Tour wrap bracelet that's brand new with tags and priced at $275 from $435. This classic scarf with tags is only $45 LESS than it would be a the sample sale. Here is another a brand new scarf for just $71. Over here is a brand new Clic Clac H bracelet for $445 from $600 and this wide enamel bracelet is $375 from $550.

We find that TheRealReal grades its merchandise very harshly. So even if the description says light scratching or wear it's often pristine. The disclosure is just a way to indemnify the online store and throw off the speculative French company that frowns upon resellers.

Vestiaire Collective is another option that tends to carry plenty of Hermes items. The difference is that not every item is reviewed by the company on site, which makes the purchase a bit more risky. Also, sellers are from all over the world and the descriptions need to be translated to English. On the bright side, foreign buyers are able to procure merchandise without the added expenses of duty, which means you can save a lot of money.

Here is an orange knit sweater that's $781 from $939, thigh high riding boots for $950 and these never worn ankle boots are gorgeous and a great buy for just $500.

You can scroll through the product carosel above to see some of our other great Hermes finds. That being said, details for the samples are are below. Just don't blame us when the event is a big disappointment.

Yoox Hosts Major Clearance Sale -- 90% Off

Yoox may be the most frustrating website in the world to shop. Every search seems to yield 800 or more pages of search results. We all know that there is good stuff hidden among those 838-pages (to be exact) but who has the time?

Well. Today, the Italian-based luxury website started a major clearance sale where past season's merchandise is reduced up to 90% off of the original price. The sale runs through October 9 and new categories will continuously be added. Take note, all sales are final. That means no credits, refunds or exchanges. Saks Friends & Family Sale

The Saks Fifth Avenue Friends & Family sale started online today and will officially begin in stores on Thursday. Despite the attractive 25% off discount on clothing, shoes and accessories, customers are irritated by the changes to the standard promotion.

Instead of listing out hundreds of designer exclusions, Saks threw out the designer list and discount code. Instead the store has designated an opt-in selection of friends and family items. Some designs don't even have their entire collections participating. It's really an item-by-item situation.

Far gone are the days of a friendly Prada discount but there are still some designer-y items from which to choose. Among the handbags, shoppers can apply the discount to Edie Parker, Les Petits Joueurs, Nancy Gonzalez, some Anya Hindmarch and a few items from Tod's. Anya's Space Invasion tote is $1837 from $2450, a laser-cut leather satchel is $1818 from $2425 and an Edie Parker 'Gangster' clutch is $1121 from $1495.

The shoe selection is pretty bleak if you're looking for premium designer discounts. Your best options are some Charlotte Olympia shoes, including these rock embellished Dollys that are $957 from $1595. There are about two, yes, two styles of Lanvin styles, including these tall leather boots that are $778 from $1945. Then there is an assortment of Alica & Olivia shoes, Chiara Ferragni and See by Chloe. Remember, only certain items are qualified.

The clothing selection includes all the usual contemporary designer suspects but, interestingly enough, there are also lots of designer items included in the promotion. Upon further investigation, however, it seems as if the participating items are from last year. Take this Ann Demeulemeester">Ann Demeulemeester sweater, it's $448 from $1120. That's more like 60% off. This Givenchy cap jacket is $1260 from $3150 and a Roland Mouret dress is $988 from $2470.

We aren't too surprised by this sly Saks friends & family sale but think it would be more fitting to change the name to the Saks Trick or Treat sale. For what it's worth, the promotion runs through Sunday online and in stores but we wouldn't be surprised if there was an extension. Tick or treat...

Nordstrom's Incredible Designer Collections

It's hard to believe that we have two Saks stores, two Barneys, two Bloomingdales but still no Nordstrom. We hear that one is coming soon but it's been almost a decade of talks and there still isn't an accessible Nordies.

What's making Nordstrom's absence even harder to digest is the killer job Olivia Kim has done since taking over as creative director a few years ago. For now, we will have to settle with shopping the incredible selection online.

Check out the assortment of Vetements pieces. It's hard to endorse a $1500 Monster Mash-era hoodie  but the shape and lines of this high-neck Victorian dress is remarkable. Check out the lines on this military jacket-- it's surely not standard issue.

If you still haven't invested in a great moto jacket, there is an amazing selection including versions from Saint Laurent, a fox trim version from Marc Jacobs, a Loewe version that's so buttery soft and this classic from Rick Owens.

Nordstrom's is also dependable when every other store has sold out of your size Gucci shoe. They are one of the only stores that seems to remain fully stocked with popular styles like the mule loafer that can also be ordered with fur, the Marmot pump and double-G booties with the pearl heels.

The handbag selection is also tops. There is the best from this season's Fendi collection including the monster appliqué 2Jours and the classic Baguette with a monster theme. There is even a great Miu Miu selection, which many stores don't post online any more.

As always, online shoppers should take advantage of Nordstrom's great customer service, which features free shipping and free returns. If only all stores were as easy to shop as Nordstrom.

Bloomingdales Friends & Family Official Kick-Off

The Bloomingdales friends and family sale began online today. Shoppers can save 25% with the code FRIENDS. Those looking for an in-store experience can presale now or being shopping on Wednesday.

For this sale, the designer exclusion is extensive but there is still a great assortment -- especially if they are looking for early Winter sales. This season the discounts can be applied to brands like Maximilian according to that fine print.

Patches are super trendy this season and if you don't want to make a big investment you can go for this Sunset + Spring Faux Leather Patch Moto Jacket that's just $128 (before the friends and family discount!). These Alice & Olivia berry leather pants are more expensive but the fit and feel are outstanding. Don't miss Riri's exclusive collab with Puma. The promotion is also applicable to sale items, which makes sorting through the sale section worth the extra time.

The friends and family sale ends online and in stores on Monday, October 10. There's also free shipping on all orders over $150, which shouldn't be hard to reach.
