Shhhh: The Manolo Blahnik Sample Sale Starts Thursday

We love Spring in New York-- the cherry blossoms, the Park Avenue tulips, and yes, the Manolo Blahnik sample sale. Our sources tell us that this year's Spring sample sale will open to the public on Thursday, April 27th. As is tradition, the second floor salon of the Warwick Hotel will be the site of the event.

This sample sale is a bi-annual highlight for shoe lovers. As you can imagine, the wait time can be worse than a passport agency. We usually prefer the boutique sales even if prices are a bit more expensive. (Those who can't make it to the sale can shop an assortment of brand new Manolos starting at just $75 from the scroll above.)

Those who are up for the Manolo sample sale challenge, should expect to take a number and wait, and wait, and wait. The really nice thing about this sale is that you can leave and come back once you get your lucky numbered ticket. Take note, that the sale opens at 11am and will close when inventory begins to run low. In past years, that was at about 3pm to 4pm.

We expect that prices will run along the same lines as last season. Plain shoes, including leather, suede satin, and printed fabric start at $125 and go up to $150. Shoes with embellishments like glitter and studs were priced $175. Boots started at $200 for basic versions and went up to $400 for over-the-knee styles.

Over the past few seasons the assortment has been dwindling. Manolo Blahnik & Co. recently added a fundraising component to their overstock strategy. A sale to benefit Arethusa Farm Scholarship Fund for University of Connecticut Agricultural Studies. A good amount of stock that would show up at the bi-annual sample sale has gone to the, so called, farm.

Remember, the sale is open to the public for only one day. That's a good indication that there will not be much merchandise. If you attend the sale, please keep us all posted in the comment section below.

Sample Sale Alert: Baccarat, Eddie Parker, Ippolita

The month is almost over but there are three more worthy sample sales that were just added to our calendar. Baccarat, Ippolita and Eddie Parker will be hosting shopping events that will offer great assortments and attractive discounts.

You can see our full sample sale calendar over here. On the product scroll bar, below, is an assortment of items that can be found online for a similar discount as the mentioned sample sales mentioned.

Edie Parker's sample sale will take place on Thursday, in midtown, at the Bryant Park Hotel. The sale will consist of samples, past season's stock and vintage pieces. Bags will be priced from $400 to $500. At the November sample sale, prices started at just $200 and charms were $50. We suspect there will be discounts the second day if these higher prices mean less sales. During past sales, shoppers were also given a bit of an extra discount when buying multiple bags.

A few blocks South, the Ippolita sale will start at Soiffer Haskin. Just in time for Mother's Day, expect to find most items discounted 65% off retail and a few, less desirable pieces, reduced 75% to 90% off. Last season, there was a markdown after the first day and then another reduction for the last day. We suggest waiting for the last day of the sale unless you're looking for a particular item.

If you're looking to get out of the city this weekend you can head towards Edison, NJ for the Baccarat sample sale. We know Edison isn't an exotic location but the trip can yield quite an amount of luxurious items. Expect to find stemware, barware, vases, decorative pieces, gifts and a large selection of jewelry all priced up to 80% off. Once you're done shopping head back home and use your new barware to pour a very exotic drink. Pure vacation luxury.

FarFetch Offers 90-Min Delivery

It's no secret that the retail environment is quickly changing. Storefronts on every avenue are slowly going dark and department stores are suffering horribly. Meanwhile, online shopping is exceeding forecasters expectations and has grown by more than 20% for each of the past three years.

The growth and innovation of internet stores is showing no sign of slowing down. Just today, Farfetch announced a collaboration with Gucci where they will deliver your merchandise from 'store to door' in less than 90-minutes. The service is available in 10 cities worldwide: London, Paris, Madrid, Milan, New York City, Los Angeles, Miami, Dubai, Tokyo and São Paulo.

While living in New York, it might not be very novel to have a gift messengered. In the case of Gucci, they have a policy that insists you make a purchases in-store before it would be messengered. This FarFetch services alleviates even the need to even go to the store.

The assortment though FarFetch is comprised of bags and a smaller variety of clothing for men and women. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like there are any shoes in the delivery line-up.

We easily see this as the next front in online shopping. We expect to see many more stores joining this path. Now, more than ever, you can get a great last minute gift and nobody will ever know.

Barneys Purple Card Promotion

Barneys offered customers a gift card promotion last month but they are at it again and upping the ante for big spenders.

Starting Thursday, Barneys shoppers can earn a $25 gift card for every $250 spent but if you spend over $1000 you will be rewarded with even more gift card goodies. The exact breakdowns are below.

For every $250 you spend, receive a $25 Purple Card

For purchases over $1000:
Spend $1000 get $150 ($50 extra)
$2000 get $300 ($100 extra)
$3000 get $500 ($200 extra)
$5000 get $1000 ($500 extra)

Take note, Purple Cards are available when you purchase Chanel, Brunello Cucinelli and Ermenegildo Zegna, but can't be used for redemption on those brands. Celine and Christian Louboutin are excluded on purchases and redemptions. On the bright side, the store still has plenty of sale merchandise that is eligible for the gift card promo.

Accrued gift cards are redeemable for merchandise from April 28 to May 21. The Purple Card promotion runs through Sunday and is available at Barneys stores nationwide, on the website and at BarneysWarehouse.

Be warned, Barneys will most likely not extend the expiration dates of your gift cards. So be sure to enjoy your meal at Freds and go back next week to use those credits!

International Spy: A Trip to Florence

As a New Yorker, it's fairly easy to navigate most any other city to which you travel. London, Rome and Paris are on most travelers must-go lists but I personally prefer the scale and intimacy of smaller cities like Florence.

Part of my affection for Florence may stem from the fact that the city is built on an ideology of great design and creativity. Florence is the founding city of couture. It has wonderful food and walking the streets never gets boring.

I was fortunate to be able to travel to Florence, this year, for the third year in a row. After several requests, I am now listing my favorite places to stay, eat and shop while visiting Firenze. I've also added an assortment of personal pictures in the jump. I hope to continue sharing travel experiences and recommendations. Feel free to add your personal favorites in the comment section. XXoo-- Lila

Ponte Vecchio

Where to STAY:
I have found that my fashion style translates to many other aspects of life, including travel. Certain hotels resonate the same way a great pair of shoes knaws at the soul. JK Place and Portrait Firenze are two properties that are different in texture but the experiences are similar. Staying at both hotels I as exciting as  buying your first Chanel bag. The resemblance may lie in the fact that the famous Italian architect and interior designer, Michele Bönan, was the mastermind behind both properties.

Both hotels are rather small and the lobbies are quite untraditional. In place of a step-up registration counter, the hotel staff greets you at the door and essentially welcomes you into a lounge area that's set up like a chicly designed living room.

Portrait Firenze is owned by the Ferragamo family and *I think* it's safe to assume the the family was very involved with every detail of this property. You can easily imagine Massimo Ferragamo rolling up to the hotel and his family comfortably spreading out across the rooms and public spaces. The rooms are spacious and the finishings perfectly balance tradition and modernity.

The JK Place is equally as wonderful but has a more feminine touch. There are lots of light white interiors and common spaces to amplify your hotel room accommodations. Breakfast is served daily in a large dining room setting with fresh juices and delicious fresh fruits. The cappuccino is particularly outstanding.

You can't go wrong with either of these hotels. We suggest going with whichever has space. Both hotels are on the small side and they tend to fill up quickly with stylish travelers.

Where to EAT:
I never go to Florence and miss a meal at Trattoria 4 Leoni. My favorite dish is the Fioccetti de Pera in salsa di taleggio e asparagi. It's essentially a dumpling filled with pear and parmesan cream joined by a bit of assparigus. It melts in your mouth. Make sure to order your own. You're not going to want to give up even one bite.

I  usually make an effort to avoid tourists-- even in New York. There is seldom an occasion where I would purposely subject myself to crowds and subpar service. Trattoria Za Za is the unicorn of touristy restaurants. It is smack in the middle of the busy Piazza del Mercato and draws crowds from all over the world. The thing is that Za Za is so good that even locals will tolerate the fannie-pack crowds.

After four days in Florence, you can easily tire of the traditional pasta and trattoria fare. Il Santo Bevitore takes a traditional Florintian food and adds a modern twist. The space is simple but elegant and is buzzing seven nights a week. Reservations are a must (unless your hotel concierge has major pull). All the produce is sourced from local green markets and the menu changes seasonally. Save room for dessert, because you would be horribly remiss to pass on the cinnamon crème brûlée. It's one of those dishes you will dream about far after you leave Italy.

Where to SHOP:
For fabulous room fragrances, head to the Antica Officina del Farmacista where Dr. Paolo Vranjes works his magic producing perfume essences inspired by Florence’s long, rich history. We fell in love with these fragrances after a stay at JK Place where the room defusers are strategically placed to surprise you fragrant pleasure.

Officina Profumo Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella is the world's oldest pharmacy and it's hidden in a rather unassuming entrance but it is a treasure. Once inside you will feel like you're in a palace surrounded by the world's most wonderful elixiors and fragrances. The prices are moderate and the experience is priceless.

Museum gift shops are always the best part of looking at great art. All the more so at the Gucci Museo, in Florence. Put aside 30 to 40 minutes to appreciate the archives from one of fashion's most illustrious brands. Afterwards you can sit in the fabulously chic cafe and shop limited edition items and rare fashion books.

It would be painful to go to Florence and not take an afternoon to go to the Prada Outlet. The trip is a 40-minute train ride from the center of Florence and then a 10 euro cab ride to the designer's factory and outlet. (Make sure to get your taxi driver's card so that you can call him to pick you up once your done shopping.) Inside you will find past season merchandise and samples reduced 30% to 90% off retail. The bags and leather goods are usually the least discounted. Shoes can be found for as little as $100 and if you're lucky you can find a few skirts for about $50. You can click here to read a full report from one of my past trips to the Prada outlet.

The IT-It: Can Prada Become Cool Again?

It's no secret that Prada has fallen off it's perch as a ruling house of fashion. After several years of falling stock prices and loss of market share Prada seems to be taking a step in the right direction. The Italian luxury band has recently stepped up it's social media game and is making doubling down on Internet sales.

Most recently, Prada started selling clothing and bags on Net-A-Porter. Insiders say sales have been terrific. Part of what makes Prada great is that it never really goes out of style. You can wear a 13-year-old Prada pint blouse and skirt and it will look as stylish as the day you bought it.

For better or worse, Prada isn't all over social media. It becomes tiresome to see the same bag, shoes, coat or earrings on every major Instagram style star. (We are looking at you, Gucci.) Sometimes we are bored of a great new style before we can even get to the store to make the purchase.

Our favorite thing about Prada-- and it might be it's wrecking ball-- is that the brand isn't just about an It-bag or an It-shoe. Prada is a lifestyle brand of functional and wearable quality products. Prada's down ski coats are the warmest, the print Summer sundresses are the sunniest, the house's classic prints are the boldest.

For all these reasons we are hot for Prada. We always have been and we don't expect the love affair to end any time soon. We highly suggest you take a look at this season's collection if you haven't done so lately. We are confident that Prada will be the next big luxury brand comeback. (Not that it ever really went away, in our minds.)

Pottery Barn Brands: Friends and Family Sale

The best part of Spring cleaning is taking the opportunity to freshen up items around the house. The Pottery Barn suite of companies-- West Elm, Pottery Barn Kids, Pottery Barn Teen and Pottery Barn -- is hosting a friends and family sale where you can save on most any item.

You can use the code FRIENDS at checkout to engage the additional 25% off discount. The best part is that the sale include furniture and clearance items. There is also free shipping-- we all know how much that can save, especially when you're talking about furniture.

It's hard to say that any one of these stores offer the answer to easy decorating but I have some favorites. For instance, the lighting from West Elm is aways a 'bright spot.' Over here is a very sophisticated desk lamp that's just $75 and here is another one that would look great on a bed stand. A small pendant light always looks great in a long hallway.

The bedding from Pottery Barn Kids and Teen make a room look great and the quality is excellent. This rose gold Flamingo is destined to be the Instagram accessory of the summer. The beach bags and towels make a great gift for birthdays or hostess gifts. I especially love the duffle with a palm print.

When children are in the picture, every decorator I've worked with always suggests Pottery Barn sofas. The Townsend is a safe choice as it walks the line of staying traditional but also feels modern. Pottery Barn also has a decent housewares department. You can never go wrong with white dishes or some fresh linen napkins.

This friends and family promotion runs through Sunday. Pottery Barn may not be the sexiest brand when it comes to decorating but their customer service is always great.

Sample Sale Alert: Marc Jacobs & Oscar de la Renta

We were attempting to keep one running sample sale list but we couldn't resist calling out two very exciting sample sales that are scheduled for later this month. Both Marc Jacobs and Oscar de la Renta will be hosting shopping events that will offer great fashions, large discounts and big crowds.

The Marc Jacobs sale will start first on Greene Street in Soho. Discounts will range up to 90% off retail and include a variety of merchandise, including men's and women's clothing and accessories from both the Marc Jacobs collection and the Marc by Marc Jacobs line. There will also be items for children from the Little Marc line.

Last season the sale also included items from the designer's beauty line and was quite the hit. That's not a surprise considering blushes were $9 and foundations were $17. Among the Marc Jacobs clothing, all coats were $250, dresses were $100, blouses were $50 and tees were $20. Dresses from the Marc by Marc Jacobs line were $60 and tees were $10.

Just a few blocks away the Oscar sale is scheduled to start a few days later. We suspect that there may be a few items from the house's new designers -- Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia. We are told that there will be a variety of stock and sample clothing, shoes, bags, jewelry, childrenswear, bridal and home collection. This season there will also be merchandise for men.

At last year's sale the bridal gowns from size 2 to 10 were the biggest hit with shoppers and ranged in price from $1300 to $4000. Gowns were either $800 or $1500 depending on the intricacy. Most of the ready-to-wear was about 70% off retail. Handbags were about $600 and shoes started at just $60.

These two sales are sure to draw big crowds. Stay posted for updates and full reports on both sales.

ShopBop 'Event of the Season' Sale

We have been patiently waiting for the ShopBop friends and family sale that usually starts the first week of April. Instead, Shopbop is mixing things up a bit.

Starting today you can use this presale link to save 20% on purchases under $500 and 25% off if you spend more. You can use the code EVENT17 at checkout to engage the discount. The promotion officially opens to the public tomorrow.

Some items we have been eyeing include this 'millennial pink' ruffle top (yes, it's a color). We are also heavy into these Pedro Garcia slides and embellished sandals from Elina Linardaki. These two-tone jeans from Citizens are one of the hottest styles of the season.

The best part of this sale is that you can apply the discount to previously reduced merchandise. The blazer is becoming one of the hottest wardrobe pieces and this style form Helmut Lang has a gorgeous cut. This embroidered top from One by Lanzuli is already reduced 70% and could check out for close to $100 from $473 and this blue and white peplum top will ring in at $40 from $155.

The sale ends Friday at midnight (PT) but continues through the weekend on East Dane (the men's site). This is the best deal you can expect for some time. If you ask us, it seems like a good opportunity to celebrate Spring.

Victoria Beckham x Target Launched Today

It was this time last year that Marimekko launched at Target. Shoppers were not particularly enthusiastic and much of the kitchy merchandise languished at stores through much of the Summer. This year, Target teamed up with the Spice Girl, Victoria Beckham for what seems to have been a successful collaboration.

The capsule collection launched today and even far out of the city Target stores were sold out of certain items and running low on others. The most popular pieces of the collection were items with a calla lily motif. This button down top is sold out within 100 miles of New York and online, same goes for the matching pants but the dress was still available stores. The black and white scalloped skirt was also a big hit and good luck finding one of these bomber jackets.

Were were surprised that this solid scalloped skirt, which comes in orange or black, was plentiful at our local beach-side Target store and also still available online. The lace collection, which includes dresses, shorts, and jackets were also plentiful. (It seems that everyone agrees that the color palate was off.) The collared dresses are also in full stock. It's never a good sign when a dress can have you easily confused with a nun or party waitstaff.

As always, the best items were the little girl's and baby's collections. Much of the baby items are completely sold out online and in stores. We loved the floral two-piece set but only found two left when shopping. This body suit is sold out online but we spotted several while shopping. The cotton quality is very nice but $13 is no steal.

The girls selection was the best but the sizing difference from medium to large was very vast. The mediums were okay to wear right now but won't fit through the Summer. The larges are so big that they wouldn't fit for two years. For $28 a dress we bounced for a few key styles like this lovely white shift dress and a pink drip waist dress with flower pockets.

That is good news is that the return policy is just 14-days for these types of limited edition collaborations. So you're likely to see a lot of Beckham come back to stores. We suggest talking local Target customer service department in about a week.

Coming Soon: David Yurman Sample Sale

The sample sale that you have been waiting for is for is finally here. David Yurman will be hosting his semi-annual sample sale starting April 27.

This sale event usually takes place in March and many fans of the brand were afraid that the sale would not happen this season. Better late than never, right? Discounts normally range from 30% to 60% off retail and 10% of all proceeds on the first day of the sale will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

At David Yurman's last sale, attendees reported a line of over 150 shoppers waiting to get in. Many people waited more than an hour before gaining entrance. Inside shoppers said to have found cable bracelets reduced 30% off and other styles were discounted 50%. Rings and necklaces were 50% off and watches and pendants were reduced by 60%.

Prices at this sale aren't precisely a steal. This is a good option for discount shoppers considering how David Yurman jewelry retains it's value and how it's become increasingly difficult to find the designer's jewelry at outlets or discount stores.

There are additional markdowns taken throughout the sale. If you don't mind a wait, we suggest attending the sale early to get the best selection. Alternatively, we found some discount Yurman you can start shopping now.

David Yurman Sample Sale
Thursday, April 27 through Sunday, April 30
Thurs 3pm-8pm, Fri & Sat 10am-7pm, Sun 11am-5pm
The Altman Building, 135 West 18th Street

Intermix Private Sale 15% to 25% Off

We aren't usually big Intermix shoppers but this season's selection seems especially attractive. We love all the ruffles, the color schemes and broad price ranges. The under-the-radar sale even makes Intermix shopping even more desirable.

Through April 17 you can save between 15% and 25% depending on how much you buy. The breakdown is below:

$400 to $999, save 15%
$1000 to $2500, save 20%
$2500+, save 25%

The one problem with this sale is the extensive exclusions. It's not just top designers like Fendi and Valentin,o but Monrow and Self-Portite are also excluded. Among the items that are included in the sale are this Sea eyelet ruffled blouse, a Caroline Constas off-the-shoulder gingham top and Pam & Gela sport pants with stripes.

If you're looking for even better savings, head to the sale section. We found these Helmut Lang leather pants reduced to $279 from nearly $1000, lace-up sweatpants are $90 from $200 and a Tabula Rasa stripped dress is $160 from $500.

Inside the Loro Piana Sample Sale

The Loro Piana sale started at Soiffer Haskin on Sunday. This sale is notoriously on the pricey side, so we held off attending until additional discounts were announced. Today the prices dropped and now the current discounts range from 50% to 70% off retail.

Loro Piana's luxurious cashmere tops, sweaters and scarves are placed on isles of huge tables. From the softest knitwears to light–as–a–feather scarves, there were tons of Piana's classic items in a plethora of gorgeous hues. The discount on sweaters is now 60% off and scarves have been reduced 50%. Many of the silk and cashmere scarves retailed at about $1100 and are now $550. Most sweaters range from about $600 to about $800 and now ring in at about $240 to $320. (Click over this way to see pictures.)

The inventory is really wonderful at this sale and it's not often that you can find such a selections with discounts this low. If you can't make it to the sale we found some similar items reduced at Neiman Marcus. For example this cashmere sweater is discounted 70% off online and on another site we spotted this print scarf that's priced similarly here.

Women's clothing hanging on racks are discounted 50%. Among the 'racked' clothing you'll find various slacks, shirts and skirts. Coats and outerwear, many with fur accents, are discounted 50%. Considering that we are going into Spring, it's a bit hard to fork over these larger sums of money. For example, a double faced cashmere jacket is still over $3000 after the discount.

The most discounted items are 70% off and include bags, shoes and fabric bolts. Booties are about $400 from $1350 and men's 'roadsters' are $270 from $950. Suede cross-body bags are $330 from $1150 and a medium size reversible bag is about $1000 from over $3000.

The sale was extremely quite. There were more employees on the floor than shoppers. We aren't sure if there will be more discounts before the sale wraps up on Thursday. Cashmere lovers who don't mind making a fashion investment will be provided with enough options to warm your heart through next Winter.

Inside the Bandier Sample Sale

Everyone on the SLT-AKT-FLY circuit needs to listen up because styling for your favorite cross-fit class or pilates burn takes a lot more than showing up. A great workout outfit is the best accessory to your toned muscles. Scoring a great look for a discount is even a bigger triumph.

Tonight the Bandier sample sale opened to press and other insiders. The selection includes a large verity of athleisure clothing, workout wear, outerwear, sportswear, sneakers and accessories. The selection is as amazing as you would expect from Bandier but the prices are still a bit of a stretch.

Bottoms, which consist mostly of leggings, are priced in tiers. Most of the most covetable leggings are either $69 or $99, which doesn't really seem like a great bargain. Ultracore Miami print leggings are $99 from $185. That's less than 50% off. They are currently only $39 more on the Bandier website and an additional promotion would make the price equal. We also spotted these Koral high rise leggings that are $99 from $158. They are currently only $20 more on the website. This palm print sports bra from Ultracore is $69 from $97, or the same exact price as it is online. (You can see lots of pictures in the jump.)

Moving on to the sneaker selection there is a large selection from Nike, Adidas and APL. The prices are a straight 60% off, which seems even better than the clothing. We spotted black and silver Stella McCartney sneakers for about $75 from $122, APL sneakers with silver and blue are $60 from $150 and Les (Art)ists slip-on sneakers are $112 from $278.

In the back there is a quiet area with a few racks of outerwear. Everything there is a straight 50% off. Among the selection is an bomber jacket from Upside that's $125 from $256. It's still full price here. A long cardigan from Monrow is $185 from $370 and a Prabal Gurung moto jacket in a scuba fabric is $150 from $295.

The sale preview drew a nice crowed and we are pretty sure there will be a wait to get into the sale tomorrow. Most shoppers didn't leave with large hauls but there was still a line that wrapped around the store to check out. We expect that it could be worse tomorrow. We suggest waiting this sale out or just shopping around online. We have lots of pictures of what we found in the jump and have also linked to items priced similarly at other retailers (like Bloomingdales😬).

Friendly Days Are Here Again: Milly, Theory, A&O, Bobbi Brown

This week is turning out to be very friendly. We've already detailed the friends and family goings on at Bloomingdales and DVF but there are lots of other sales to shop with friends.

Theory, Milly, Helmut Lang, Alice & Olivia and Bobbi Brown are all hosting friends and family sales this weekend. Details for each brand are below:

Alice & Olivia
Starting today you can save 25% off everything from Alice & Olivia-- including sale items. The discount is applied at checkout and no code is necessary. Check out with this leather cropped moto jacket, a rainbow tiered gown and embroidered bell bottoms. The sale ends Sunday, April 2.

Theory
You can save 25% off Theory by using the code FRIENDS. The sale runs through April 2. Some of our favorite items include this mini-utility skirt, high waisted wide-leg pants , and the newly launched Whitney Bag with a hoop focal point.

Milly
Use the code MILLYSQUAD to save 20% off your purchase. The best part of the sale is that Milly just got in their newest collection that includes some great items for summer. We love this linen jumpsuit, these denim print crepe pants with a self-tie waist and this abstract print dress.

Helmut Lang
The promotional discount at Helmut Lang is 25% off. The sale runs through Monday. Use the code FAMILY at checkout. Some highlights of the season include this 90s-style leather jacket, minimalist ostrich slides and relaxed pleated pants.

Bobbi Brown
You can save 20% off when you shop Bobbi Brown's friends and family sale online. N The sale starts on Sunday, April 2 and runs through Saturday, April 8th. No code is necessary. Some of the most popular products are the long-wear gel eyeliner, Foundation Stick and the Luxe Lip Color in mauve. After your done shopping, click this way to read a great Q&A in Cosmo with the brand's namesake. She openly talks about why she left the brand, her future plans and her affection for makeup artists. It's a great read.

DVF Friends & Family Sale

Diane von Furstenberg's friends & family sale is here. You can save 25% off almost all items by using the code “FRIENDS25”.

The promotion runs online and in stores through Monday, April 3. This season, sale merchandise isn't included in the promotion. It appears as if this sale is becoming increasingly unfriendly to sale shoppers. 😩

DVF has had difficult times the past few seasons and this include these white pants with colorful ribbon trim, a multi-print wrap top and a flattering fitted dress. If you're the type that values sample sale prices over the newest styles, we suggest you use the discount opportunity on sale merchandise.

Bloomingdales Friends & Family Presale

Pre-sale for the upcoming Bloomingdales friends and family has started. The sale officially begins Friday --March 31-- but those in the know can start pre-saling their purchases in the store now. The discount is 25% off fashion and home and 20% off jewelry. Online shoppers will be able to use the code FRIENDS once the sale goes live, next week.

In the past, the exclusions haven't been too extensive. Designer collections, beauty and fragrance are never included in the promotion. Although the discount can't be applied to beauty purchases there is usually a gift with purchase incentive.

Bloomingdales can be frustrating to shop. There is never anyone at a register when you need to get out fast. We have really started to love the option of shopping online and using in-store pickup. On product pages you can sort according to "In-Store Pickup" and all your purchases will be pulled and waiting for you at the customer service department on the 3rd floor. Once you get there, you can try everything on and just take the items you like. This service has become so popular that the Lexington Avenue store has extended pickup hours from 6am to midnight.

The friends and family promotion runs through Sunday, April 9 and the discount can also be applied to sale items. This classic Theory dress will come to $370 from $1200, a leather jacket from Maje will also be about $370 from $945 and a very pretty mixed media lace blouse from Elie Tahari is $325 from $620.

Vestiaire's Ultimate Spring Closet Detox

We can't complain too much about the weather this past Winter but we are very excited that it's officially Spring. Warm weather, open-toe shoes and getting rid of a heavy overcoat is all we need to be happy. (Well, almost.)

As we prepare for the bi-annual wardrobe shift, it's become apparent that adding a single item to our closets will be nearly impossible. This is the perfect time of year for a Spring closet detox. The experts at the international luxury marketplace, Vestiaire Collective, have everything you need to make this vernal shift.  (You can click here to see the detailed Vestiaire closet detox guide.) It all starts with sorting your closet into three categories:

Sell:
This category consists of the coveted pieces that doesn’t fit your style, the sky-high heels that are painful to walk in, the impulse buy that really triggered instant buyer’s remorse. These are some of the items you’ve been meaning to get rid of but just haven’t gotten around to yet.

Keep:
Gather the items that fit and you’re excited to wear again. Organize this pile in your closet so you can see and easily retrieve all key pieces clearly.

Maybe:
The maxi dress everyone has already seen you wear, the designer jeans that don’t exactly fit, do you know why you’re keeping these pieces? This is the hardest category to mitigate but there is a handy checklist will help you decide if its worth keeping or time to let go. Some questions you can ask yourself include: Having I worn this item in the past 6 months? Does it fit? Would I buy it again?

Once you have that pile together, you can easily download the Vestiaire app and start selling away that pile. It's really as easy as snapping a picture. The App even has a price resale calculator to help guide your pricing. Our favorite part is that Vestiaire accepts vintage items and a larger variety of brands than other luxury resale sites. Even better, when there is an online promotion, Vestiaire will absorb the discount and your commissions won't be effected.

Once you have all that extra room in your closet and some extra cash, you can shop guilt free. Some items we are hunting for include, a denim trench, a new moto jacket from either Balenciaga or Off-White and something fantastically Dior to toast my inner princess.

The IT-it: The Manicure 💅 That Will Make You Happy

A great fashion purchase can be uplifting but the right manicure can have similar powers. LeChat's Perfect Match Mood Gel Polish is quite literally is a mood changer.

This high-tech thermo sensitive polish transforms color according to temperature. One moment your nails can be teal blue and the next, a light lavender. The transition from one color to the other is the most intriguing. The ombre effect during the color change is as delightful. It's hard to keep yourself from checking and the activity is quite amusing.

LeChat's Perfect Match Mood Polish comes in 60 colors, including Crimson Nightfall that changes from red to black, Sunset Beach that changes from orange to a misty-rose and, our favorite, Trissie that goes from a deep violet to a light lavender. The gel polishes can be found on Amazon and ranges in price from $13 to $15 a bottle, depending on the seller.

If you're not someone who likes to commit to a gels, LeChat also offers standard color changing polish ($10). The colors are nearly identical to the gel options.

Its hard to understate how much we've loved wearing this polish. You can bet it's going to be a major part of our Summer rotation. A special shout-out to Elvira for sharing your secret manicure 💅.

Presale: Saks Friends & Family Sale

The Saks Fifth Avenue friends and family sale doesn't start for about a week but all good customers know that the best merchandise is snatched up during the presale period. The sale officially runs from Wednesday, March 21 through Sunday, April 2.

This season, the discount will be 25% off a selection of clothing, shoes and accessories. Jewelry will be discounted 20%. Instead of listing hundreds of designer exclusions and creating a special code, Saks essentially created a friends and family sale section on the website.

Some of the designer-y brands we expect to be included are Edie Parker, Les Petits Joueurs, Nancy Gonzalez and Anya Hindmarc. Among the shoes, we suggest going for Charlotte Olympia, Chiara Ferragni or something quirky from Alice & Olivia.

It's much harder to speculate about what designer fashions might be included in the sale. It's safe to suspect that most contemporary brands will be participating. We are hoping that some of the new emerging street wear brands, like Off-White, will be included in the promotion.

If you're a point collector, you should take note that designers not included in the sale will be eligible for triple points. Let's keep our fingers crossed that the friends and family inclusions are plentiful. For now, stay tuned for this evolving story.

Tibi's Online Sample Sale

Happy first day of Spring!

What better way to tick off the new season than to take advantage of sample sale that doesn't require you to move an inch. Tibi is hosting its first online sample sale where prices are discounted up to 80% off.

Some of our favorite items include an Italian shearling aviator jacket that's reduced to $1128 from $2800, wide legged leather pants are $239 from almost $1200 and a Pantone green knit sweatshirtt is $98 from $400.

More suited for Spring, is this off-the-shoulder blouse that's $100 from $345. There is also a pair of smoking slippers from Tibi's collaboration with Del Toro that's $200 from $365.

This sale is for only a few days and ends Thursday at midnight. We are a little disappointed there aren't more of Tibi's signature dresses but at least there aren't any traditional sample sale lines.

Barneys Sale: We Cracked the Code

Barneys removed the link to their seasonal markdown several weeks ago but some sly searching proves that the sale merchandise is still available for purchase online. Some items are discounted as much as 75% off. You can use this link to see for yourself.

The best markdowns are the clothing, of course. This Sies Marjan pencil skirt is $250 from $990 and a Saint Laurent floral print dress is $600 from $2450. Among the shoes we found these Aquazzura flats for $260 from $700 and Marséll wedge ankle boots for $400 from $990.

This gold garland that's just $38 from $128 is perfect for festival season or August in Greece. Two of the most unexpected finds are this men's Moncler jacket for $790 from $1300 and a fringed Saint Laurent bucket bag for $859 from $2150.

You'll see that the selection isn't vast but it might be worth your while to bookmark the page. It's always nice to have back door VIP access.
