Bergdorf Goodman Black Friday Presale

The holiday windows at Bergdorf Goodman are buzzing with activity but inside everything is hush-hush. Many salespeople are unwilling to acknowledge that sale season is upon us but a keen eye can spot the markdown guns as they twinkle and beep across the store.

Lucky we know better and have insiders who are willing to share the truth. Presale will start Friday at the Fifth Avenue store. The sale will go public online and in stores this coming Monday. Parent company, Neiman Marcus will start sale season on the same day.

The discount at Bergdorf Goodman will be 30% off most shoes and bags. Many clothing brands are marked down 40% off. Chanel and Celine, Christian Louboutin, Dior, and a few other brands will not be included in the markdown--just yet.

We are still waiting for pictures of exactly what handbags will be included in the markdown but we have a full selection from the shoe level. You can click here to see some of the hundreds of shoes that will be included in the sale. Some highlights include Valentino VTLN pumps, which we have never seen on sale and those pretty pansy high boots will also be on sale. Another big surprise on the sale list is the BB Balenciaga booties. Among the Fendi selections are these booties and furry slippers. Unfortunately, the Fendi cowboy boots are not part of the markdown.

The sale list of shoes is really a mile long. You can click here to browse through pictures from the shoe floor. The sale racks will be set up on Friday for presale but we all know the best styles will be gone before then. Our personal contact is below. Knock your socks off!

It's still 60-degrees outside but Thanksgiving is just over a week away. That means that presales and first markdowns are imminent.

Barneys shoppers will be able to begin to pre-sale this week. The sale becomes official and opens to the public on November 21. The discount is 40% across on clothing and shoes. Designer bags are reduced by 30%. Besides the outstanding selection, the 40% discount on shoes makes Barneys the best department store to shop for holiday deals.

Among the reduced items is a large assortment of Valentino, Balenciaga, Manolo Blahnik, and Dries von Noten. There is also a variety of Saint Laurent, Givenchy, and Prada shoes. Christian Louboutin and Chanel always go on sale a few weeks later than the first batch. You can scroll above to see some of the styles included in the markdown.

Moving down to the handbags there is a large-ish variety of Saint Laurent bags, a healthy assortment of Valentino mini Rockstuds and, of course, lots of Balenciaga. Remember the discount on bags at Barneys is just 30%, which is just about the same as what other stores will be offering. Gift Guide: Singles Day

Singles Day is the Chinese version of an anti-Valentines day. Really, what's there not to love? Celebrating social freedom and shopping!

We.Are.In!

The shopping-focused day first started in 1993, by a group of Chinese college students, to celebrate the state of being single. The date November 11 (or 11/11) was chosen because of the ones-- obviously. Elevens, according to numerology, is a “master number” which signifies intuition, insight, and enlightenment. As a matter of fact, there is a great app called Breathe 11:11 that alerts you twice a day to take a deep breath to allow free-flow of energy.

We've started to think of Singles Day as 'Treat Yourself Day.' After all, we've never turned down an occasion to shop and buy something nice. So in light of this day of spiritual consumership, we've picked out a few key gifts that we wouldn't mind indulging.

Loewe mini Gate ($1200)
Prada City Camera bag ($1620)
Fendi Western Boots ($1190)
Prada Mary Janes ($750)
Dyson hair dryer ($399)
Christofle Egg ($1680)
Pat McGrath lipstick ($38)
Aviartor Nation sweathirt ($173)
Off White 'Little Black Dress' ($800)
Maison Margiela pleated skirt ($1265)

Global Fashions: Final Day Extra Markdowns

The Global Fashions sample sale ends Thursday. Now is the time to go if you've been procrastinating or if you are still lusting after an item you put down.

The final sale day features new arrivals from Stuart Weitzman and lots of extra discounts. Right now shoppers can save 75% off of all shoes, bags, and accessories. All Stuart Weitzman remains discounted at 70% off but there are lots of amazing classic boot styles. You can click here to see pictures we took at the sale this afternoon.

We spotted several size options for classic Stuart Weitzman boots. You can see pictures here. Rockstuds are mostly sold out but we found some other great options that you can look at here too. We loved a pair of classic loafers that had studs along the sole and there are so many tall boots it's hard to choose. There are only one or two sizes for each style, which makes finding the right shoe even luckier. You really can't go wrong with any of these options at a 75% off discount.

The sale ends at 6pm on Thursday. There will be no further markdowns or restocks. We suggest you go to the sale first thing in the morning for the best selection. Men who have been following along should stay tuned. Global Fashions has some big surprises for the guys coming next week.

Saks Kicks Off Sale Season 40% Off

We are barely done with the first week of November but Saks Fifth Avenue is starting off the holiday shopping season on the right note. Today, we stumbled upon the department store's 'Sneak Peek' sale, which offers customers up to 40% off many designer shoes, bags and clothing.

The main floor of Saks is undergoing a huge renovation and only the south entrance is open. The handbag 'boutiques,' normally found at the front of the store, have been moved to the back--where fine jewelry used to reside. Near Gucci you will see a table of JW Anderson bags discounted 40%. The online selection is even better. An Anya Hindmarch handbag is discounted to $837 from $1400, a Mark Cross box bag is reduced to $1317 from $2200 and a leather envelop bag from The Row is $1275 from $2550.

Our next stop was express to shoes. The markdown ranges from 25% to 40% off. We were most surprised to find a full range of beautiful Manolo Blahnik Hangisi shoes on the 40% off markdown table. Here are the tweed pumps we saw reduced to $730 from $1045 The online selection is reduced even more. This satin Hangis d'Orsay is $386 from nearly $1000. Other standouts were Off-White riding boots for $1100 from $1500, Saint Laurent pointy toe pumps, and Jimmy Choo sneakers for $486 from $700. Jump over to see pictures of what else we found on the shoe floor.

Most of the clothing that's on sale is 40% off. There are little racks of nearly every designer. Suede leggings from The Row are $1156 from $2890, a Rick Owens cape is $1400 from $2800 and a Roland Mouret peplum top is $477 from $800. The online selection is little different but there are more items and sizes from which to choose. This Ahluwalia bell-sleeve dress is $600 from $1500 and a Jonathan Simkhai dress is $318 from $800.

The discount signs get taken down on Thursday and everything goes back to full price. Presale for Black Friday should begin next week and the big sales should be starting the week of November 20. See ya then!

Met Exhibition: "Jewelry: The Body Transformed"

One might imagine that a jewelry exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art would consist of imagery of tools, materials and an in-depth look at the process of jewelry making. Jewelry: The Body Transformed, does none of that. Instead, the exhibit is focused on how jewelry cuts across time and space and how it truly makes us feel.

Necklace with diamonds and pearls, Dreicer & Co 1868

The fact is that jewelry has power and it has transformed its subjects for centuries. Today, at a press preview of the exhibit's opening, Melanie Holcomb, Curator, Department of Medieval Art and The Cloisters explained, "It does something for us and two us." Jewelry is transformative and tells the story of divine aspirations.

The exhibit is broken into five segments: The Divine Body examines one of the earliest conceptions of jewelry—its link to immortality, The Regal Body focuses on the use of jewelry throughout history to assert rank and status, The Transcendent Body explores how jewelry is used to traverse the temporal and spiritual realms, The Alluring Body looks at how jewelry engenders desire, and The Resplendent Body calls out the connection of material and technique for the purpose of ostentation.

“Jewelry is one of the oldest modes of creative expression—predating even cave painting by tens of thousands of years—and the urge to adorn ourselves is now nearly universal,” commented Max Hollein, Director of The Met. “This exhibition will examine the practice of creating and wearing jewelry through The Met’s global collection, revealing the many layers of significance imbued in this deeply meaningful form of art.”

Visitors will find some 230 objects drawn almost exclusively from The Met collection. A dazzling array of headdresses and ear ornaments, brooches and belts, necklaces and rings created between 2600 B.C.E. The exhibit opens to the public on November 12 and will run through February 24.

Click here to see some dazzling pictures from inside the exhibit and swipe along to shop what we think are some of the most impressive jewelry designs of our time.

Neiman Marcus Offers Extra 30% Off Clearance!!

It's almost time for the season's first round of markdowns. Before we get started, however, Neiman Marcus is hosting a clearance sale where discount merchandise is reduced an extra 30% off. That brings the total markdown near 85% off on some items. This is the highest reductions you will see before the merchandise is sent to the outlets.

This extra 30% off clearance sale only runs through Monday. The next big markdown will occur on Black Friday when designer merchandise takes gets its first price cut but the discounts are only up to 40% off. This is the perfect time to buy high-quality timeless items for a fraction of their retail prices.

Take these Manolo Blahnik sides that started at $675. You can walk out with them right now for under $240. If you've been following along closely you've seen us lusting after this Calvin Klein trench that was $2500. It's now just $472. This Cushnie Et Ochs one-shoulder gown is something else at $350 from $2000, this Naeem Khan beaded dress is $870 from $2500 and this Caroline Constas mohair sweater is perfect for Winter and is just $121 from $500.

Among the shoes, we found these Aquazzura velvet blue boots that are really quite perfect at $260 from $825, Saint Laurent pony hair cowboy boots are $500 from $1600 and ankle wrap velvet flats from The Row are $550 from $800. The extra discount doesn't apply to many styles of bags and we suggest skipping that section altogether.

Sizing is spotty on most clearance items. We would suggest sorting by size to avoid unnecessary disappointment. At this discount rate, it's tempting to fantasize that an item will fit when it's completely the wrong size. Don't do it!

Inside the Balenciaga Sample Sale

Today the Balenciaga sample sale kicked off for employees and press. The sale is invitation only and the door policy is much stricter than we anticipated. You need to give your name and show state-issued ID. Fear not, all FOMO is misguided.

Actually, we toyed with titling this post: 'Everything you won't find at the Balenciaga sample sale' but listing all the disappointments would be redundant. There are no Speedtrainers, no Triple Ss, no Logomania items and there aren't any City bags in any remotely nice colors. There was so much nothing that we actually left without purchasing a single item. The worst part is that prices are actually very good.

So, if you were to breach security what would you find? You would see wallets in an unidentifiable print for $150. There are market bags with a 'Puffer Print' in extra large ($449) and small. We spotted a few City bags in Pepto Bismol pink and periwinkle both colors were priced at $399. Another style bag with a chain, which we never saw before is $350 and croc bags with a wire handle are $2999. (We couldn't find links but you can see pictures over this way.)

The prices for shoes are amazing but there are no styles worth buying. All women's shoes, including boots, are $150 and men's shoes and sneakers are just $99. We found extra pointy toe pumps with that puffer print and then a variety of rounded toe style shoes, boots, and booties with a floral print. The men's sneaker options are the best of the bunch but we didn't even see the guys jumping at the opportunity.

The clothing is priced by category. Tops, knitwear, skirts, and pants are $99, blouses are $150, and jackets and dresses are $199. We saw some nice heavy tweed items, but most are impractical beyond the runway. There are stretch pants in purple, orange, green and black. Most other items are ill-fitting or strange prints.

We would call this sale a huge bust. We wouldn't be surprised if the entire inventory was outlet castoffs. The sale runs through Saturday. You're welcome to try your luck at the door. It doesn't look like any of this merchandise is going fast. Take a look at the pictures and let us know what do you think?

Through Saturday, November 2

Shopping for Novembrrrr at Bloomingdales

You might be able to wear white after Labor day but there is no way fur is acceptable before November. Guess what? It's November, which means it's time to get ready for Winter and revel in holiday season fashion.

Our first destination is Bloomingdales, of course. There is really no place that is more convenient and has everything we need to stay warm and feel stylish. That includes all of our core needs.

Have you checked out the great pieces from Karen Kane? Look at these faux leather leggings. They fit like a glove, feel great and are just $109. Mustard is the color of the season and this duster cardigan goes perfectly with those black leggings and it's just $119. Another option is to pair those leggings with this cropped red puffer that's only $168.

One of our favorite Bloomindales tricks to shop online and pick up at the store. When you arrive, all of your purchases are in one place. That give you extra time  to linger at 40 Carrots!

Get Ready: Global Fashions Pre-Holiday Sample Sale

You probably just started unwrapping your Halloween candy but those in the wholesale business are wrapping up the holiday business season. Global Fashions, which is the official luxury distributor for several Italian designer brands including couture items, will be opening its showroom to the public for a pre-holiday sample sale.

If you've been to a Global Fashions sale before you probably know the treasures that behold. We got a sneak peak while the sale was being set up and can honestly say that this is the most incredible Global Fashions sale ever. Discounts will range from 70% to 80% off. Shoes, bags, accessories, and jewelry will be reduced by 70% off retail, designer clothing will be discounted 75%, and Couture will be 80% off.

This is the first time Global Fashions has brought Stuart Weitzman to its sample sale customers and we have never seen such an amazing sale selection. The assortment includes all of the designer's famous classics and they are all 70% off retail. Midland suede over-the-knee boots are just $240 from $800, slouchy boots are about $270 from nearly $900, and mid-calf stretchy suede boots are about $170 from $575. There are lots of 5050 options, legend pumps, and bags too. Take note, each person will only be able to purchase a maximum of ten pairs of shoes. (Click over to see pictures of some of the samples we spotted.)

Another sale highlight is M.Missoni, which is discounted 75% off. We spotted a classic double-breasted wool coat reduced to $250 from nearly $1000 and a tweed jacket is $218 from $895. There are also lots of the designer's famous knit dresses, sweaters, and skirts.

Moving on to Global Fashions most popular feature, Rockstuds. Yes, there are a lot. We spotted all the classics heels and bags during set-up. There is black-on-black, bi-colored and even some tri-colored pumps and flats. There is also an entire section of red-box boots along the farthest back wall. You won't want to miss the studded loafers and sneakers too. Among the bags, the are top-handle Glamlocks and camo totes. (You can stalk pictures of some of our favorites over here.)

The couture is always what melts our hearts at these sales. We found a one-of-a-kind carwash style leather skirt with silver plates and there is even a matching bag. A coat that's hand embroidered with bird and flower motifs is like a fine work of art and is priced at $2000 from $10,000. A maxi-pleated leather skirt with flower details is $2200 from $11,500 and a classic black dress with illusion not even $1500 from $4500. The sale also includes a full rack of furs that are some of the most beautiful we've ever seen. (Click for pics.)

It's pretty apparent that Global Fashions has really brought out the best-of-the-best. There is a great designer find for most every budget. This is a sale you're not going to want to miss. Don't tell us we didn't warn you.

Inside the Nicholas Kirkwood Sample Sale

This morning, the Nicholas Kirkwood sample sale kicked off for VIPs and LVMH employees. The sale is taking place at the Warwick Hotel, just like Manolo Blahnik's sample sale and offers discounts almost as good.

Prices start at just $90 for flats and range up to $425 for shearling boots with a pearl heel. On most items, the markdown is between 50% to 80% off. In the early hours, there was an abundance of Kirkwood's classic pointy-toe flats and mules priced at $90 from a retail range from $425 to $540. Styles vary in color and come in assortments of suede, leather, and patent leather.

Mid-heel shoes are priced a little more expensively at $160 and high heels are $200. You can click over to see the full price list and pictures. All shoes are organized by size except for the most covetable Kirkwood styles, which are reserved near the entrance to the saleroom. That's where you will find a lot of the most classic pieces including these Derby shoes with a pearl heel come in both silver and black and are priced at $309 from $995. This tall style is priced at $800 from $2760, this biker boot is $450 from nearly $2000 and these sneakers in white are $350. You can click over to see some pictures we grabbed surreptitiously at the sale.

At noon, before the sale opened to the public, there was a line of about 50 people waiting. Take note, there will be no restocking and some of the best styles were disappearing fast. There is a hard limit of only 10 pairs per customer and only credit cards are accepted.

Those out of town shouldn't feel too disappointed, Nicholas Kirkwood often gets heavily discounted in department stores and boutiques. Keep an eye on sales at Fivestory and TheRealReal.

Chanel's Newest Price Hike

Since the beginning of Madison Avenue Spy, we have been tracking the prices of Chanel bags. In doing so, we have created a rich archive of pricing history. As Chanel shoppers brace for yet another price increase, which is slated to take place on November 1, we thought we would take a look back at the way things were.

The price of a Maxi Classic Chanel Jumbo bag will be $6700 on November 1, which is almost more than double the price it was in 2010. (You can see a chart of Chanel's price history dating back to 2004 over here.)

This season, most styles are increasing in price by about 6%. In the past, we've seen even steeper price jumps. Depending on the popularity of a particular style, bags have skyrocketed as much as 30% in a single year. Don't fear, we were able to find lots of Chanel bags priced under $2000 browse through our above scroll to see what we found.

Chanel generally evaluates prices in November and May. This year, we've seen upward price movement three times -- May, July and now November. This is a record number of price increases. In between 2010 and 2011, there were two price increases. During that year, the cost of many bags vaulted $1000.

In 2009, we proposed that Chanel was attempting to reach a similar price point of the coveted Hermes Birkin bag and it looks like they are making their way up there. Perhaps Chanel is simply staying ahead of other luxury brands? We have heard reports that handbags sales are starting to stagnate. This might not be the best time for a price jump. What do you think?

The sale is perfect timing for those take advantage of stocking up on denim and cozy sweats. Over this way we found this Monrow sweathsirt  with stars that's reduced to $121 from $162 and a sky blue sweathirt from PE Nation is $105 feom $140 We love the high rise black jeans from DL1961, which are $106 from $178 and  these AG bootcut jeans are $168 from $225.

While we were browsing we also found a few great jewelry pieces and home accessories. Kim Seybert napkin rings are $10 from $20, Vita Fede chain earrings are $132 from nearly $300 and the classic Titan bracelet is $200 from $445.

We all know this isn't the real deal. If you're waiting for the real designer deals, write down November 20th on your calender. That's when Bergdof will take it's frist designer markdowns. We will be sure to keep let you know when presale begins and what designers are included in the sale.

We know this is going to be a fun sale season!!

The OutNet: Extra 50% Off Sale

We take a break from sample sale mayhem to bring you a discount promotion this nearly as good and requires no waiting in line. The Outnet is hosting a sale where a large selection of discounted merchandise is reduced an additional 50% off.

The markdown on many items comes to nearly 90%. As you would imagine, the merchandise will start going very fast once word gets out. This Balmain studded cocktail dress comes to $1500 from nearly $12,000, Aerin flats are about $100 from $600, and this Roland Mouret lamé skirt is $250 from $1585. We are wild for this Jil Sander leather trench that's a bit over $1000 from $6700 and Belstaff leather ankle boots, which we happen to really, really like are $100 from $600.

As with those Balstaff boots, there aren't a lot of size options. We suggest you sort by size before falling for something you can't have. There are also some great less expensive items like this Clu sweatshirt that's about $75 from $338.

Just remember, all sales are final. Can you really blame them? Prices like this totally justify a no backsies policy.

Before You Go: The Row's Sample Sale

Everyone seems to be morning the loss of Phoebe Philo at Celine but you can still support female designers and bask in minimalist designed luxury fashion from The Row. You can also save a pretty penny while doing so at The Row's annual sample sale.

This evening, the sale was open for previews to VIPs, the press, celebrity types like Tracy Pollan and lots of Spence moms. This season's sneak peek was a lot more hectic than past years. There was a long line and, even a wait. (Quelle horreur!) There was nobody checking any list, which made matters worse. Could you imagine that the line for The Row was even longer than the Jimmy Choo sale, which happens to be taking place at the same venue?

Everything at The Row's sale is discounted 70% off-- and that includes bag and shoes. This season, there are no exotic items or furs. There are also very few coats, which were all gone within the first hour. There weren't even very many blazers. One style blazer with button details was still pricey at $900 from $3000. We also didn't see any sunglasses. On the bright side, the sale had lots of bags and shoes.

There are plenty of satin Ascot bags in various colors, which are priced under $300 from $990. Hunting bags come to $1080 from $3600, Market bags come to about $1275 from $4250 and this pouch-style bag comes in various colors in suede and is about $330 from $1150. Among the shoe selection, we spotted lots of loafers. This satin style loafer is about $300 from nearly $1000 and is on sale here for $480, these floral print canvas slippers are $360 from nearly $1200 and suede ankle booties are $765 from $1250.

The clothing selection isn't as plentiful as past years. There are some leather pants but mainly two styles of classic black pants, one of which has a boot cut leg. There are also lots of black jeans and a whole rack of long gowns, which are basically slips. There are some sweaters but we preferred the selection last Winter.

We suggest you head over to Bergdorf Goodman online if you can't make it to the sample sale, don't want to deal with lines or we haven't mentioned what you are looking for. There is a large selection of clothing, shoes, and bags that are discounted 50% to 70% off.

If you're a big fan of The Row, you know what to expect when it comes to prices and styling. We would suggest you go. Not every shopper loads up $3000 fashion items that don't have a single logo-- even when they are 70% off. For those types, we suggest taking a pass.

Inside: The Jimmy Choo Sample Sale Higher Prices

This morning, the Jimmy Choo sample sale kicked off for press and VIPs. By 10am the cue for general RSVP admission reached Sixth Avenue, nearly a full city avenue. An hour later, when we left the sale, the line was getting a little bit better. You can bet that it is still a substantial wait before any of those customers get their hands on any Choos. (While waiting in line, head over to can see Instagram Stories to see the extent of the wait.)

Inside, shoes are organized by color on racks and bags are on tables. (Jimmy Choo has come a far way from the days of throwing shoes on the floor and tables.) The best deals are the men's shoes, which are all $150. Women's shoes start at $250 but most styles fall into the $325 category. That's a significant increase from last season when women's shoes were priced at $200 and $250 respectively. Boots, this season, are priced at $375.

Handbags prices have held steady from last season except from evening bags that will cost you $100 more than last year at $350. Small handbags are still $250. Most of the most attractive styles are the larger category bags ($450) and then there is a $200 supplement for exotics, like pony hair. (If only there were a truffle supplement, too!) You can see the full pricing list and pictures of shoe and bags from the Jimmy Choo sample sale over here.

So, what will you find? There is a better selection than last season but really nothing worth waiting for hours-- especially at these prices. The best buys are the basic metallic Abel shoes that come in silver, gold, holographic and more. We find that a metallic Choo is a great investment because they are so wearable. Retail prices are normally about $700 from the Abel but they often come on TheRealReal for between $150 and $250. Many times they are even brand new.

Personally, we find the platform peep-toe sparkle shoe a little dated. Most of the styles found in the sale are recycled old style shoes. Jimmy Choo has a really great collection this season but we didn't spot anything that comes close to being remotely lustful. You can click this way to see pictures of what we think are the best styles from the Jimmy Choo sample sale.

The sale runs through Friday. Even though the weather is beautiful, we would avoid waiting in line for hours with the early rush. Prices are usually reduced on the last day. That's when the fun begins!

Shopbop's First Official Markdown

Online retailers don't quite run sale season the same way traditional store calendars negotiate markdowns. Shopbop, for example, just started its first full markdown on Fall clothing, shoes and accessories. Meanwhile, most retailers won't start markdowns for at least a few more weeks.

The discount seems to run from 30% to 40% off retail. A Red Valentino blouse in Grey with exaggerated shoulders is $276 from $395, a Paper London sweater with pink and white racing stripes down the arm is $174 from $290 and a Champion sweatshirt is $55 from $110. Heading to the designer options, we found a Kenzo sweatshirt for $200 from $300, a silver Ashish dress with a drop front is $315 from $450, and a mini Sonia Rykiel bag is $220 from $550.

Of course, there are items even reduced more from prior seasons. A Baja East silver mini-dress is $373 from $1500, Correges hooded coat is $561 from $1900 and a Jonathan Simkhai bustier dress is $900 from $3000.

If the item you're watching isn't included in this markdown it is likely to be added in the next sale drop. Usually, the site adds batches of merchandise every few weeks.

Inside the Oscar de la Renta Sample Sale

This afternoon, the Oscar de La Renta sample sale kicked off in Soho to VIPs and Gilt ticket holders. The sale includes a great assortment of almost all designer's categories including dresses, gowns, coats, day-wear, skirts, furs, jewelry, belts, bags, shoes, kids clothing, and bridal gowns.

Most items are priced between 70% and 90% off retail. Samples, which can be identified by an internal sample tag, are priced according to a master list. (You can see the price sample lists in the jump.) All other items are priced as marked. The best part of this sale is that a lot of the merchandise is current to this season-- Fall 2018.

Some of the standouts include this jacquard dress with a full skirt in a sleeveless version and it was priced at $575 from $2650.  A strapless gown with colorful splatter embroidery is $1650 from nearly $12,000 and we spotted a tulle dress like this one but with embroidery for $575 from over $7000. Clearly, the savings on dresses and gowns are substantial. (You can see pictures here.)

Over towards the checkout counter, you'll see an assortment of jewelry and belts. Most are priced at about 80% off retail. These flower drop earrings in assorted colors are $69 from $350, an oversized belt like this one was $120 from $650 and broaches were $50. (We have pictures and prices over here.) Downstairs, you'll find a great assortment of shoes, which we are sure won't last very long. All shoes are $89. These sparkling ruby heels are normally almost $900. They are just $89 at the sample sale but can also be found on TheOutNet for $330.

Downstairs there are also plenty of bridal gowns. We didn't catch the prices -- the gowns are too big and heavy to fish for price tags-- but one was more stunning than the next. Near those gowns, you'll also find children's shoes that are all just $20. Some have original price stickers of more than $250. You really can't beat that. The children's clothing assortment isn't very exciting. There is one style of a classic ODLR dress that is perfect for a little girl between age two and six. Beyond that, the classic style dresses don't always look right.

On your way out, you might notice a roped off section of ODLR furs. Don't worry, you're not missing too much. The markdown isn't very good at about 50% off and prices are still very high.  (Jump for pics.)

The ODLR sale is one of those popular events that tend to attract lots of shoppers, which tend to accumulate into a steady line throughout the days of the sale. It's not usually too bad of a wait but you should clock in some extra time if you're thinking of taking a quick pass through the sale.

Neiman Marcus Offers Extra 25% Off Fall Clearance

Just as the weather is taking a sharp turn towards Fall, we found a sale to motivate us into the new work week. Today, Neiman Marcus started a Fall clearance sale where discount merchandise is reduced an extra 25% off. That brings the total markdown to 80% off on some items. The sale even includes lots of items that can easily fit into your wear-now wardrobe.

These bi-color Calvin Klein wool pants are just $185 from $990, an Isabel Marant black mini-skirt is $125 from $670,  a pink Off White dress with drawstrings is $320 from $1700 and Armani wide-legged pants are $170 from $900. As you can see, there are some very good designer pieces in the mix. Just be careful sorting from most expensive, you'll find really great Valentino, Balmain, Bottega and more. Even at 80% off many of these pieces are still over $1000.

This extra 25% off clearance sale only runs through Monday. The next big clearance promotion will be in early November and then the current season begins the first markdown before Thanksgiving.

You should also take note that Neiman Marcus is also running a beauty promotion where fragrances, cosmetics, and other beautifying items are 20% off. This promo runs through Thursday. It's not so often that we see a straight beauty discount at a department store and even the high-end brands are included.

Obsessed: Carolina Bucci's Limited Edition Royal Oak

A friend and colleague from FrontRowEdit, recently posted about the most gorgeous limited edition, Audemars Puget, Frosted Gold Royal Oak. It was love at first sight and that love has evolved into an outright obsession.

The 37mm timepiece features a remarkable Frosted gold finish and a mirrored dial. The watch was conceived by Italian jewelry designer Carolina Bucci and limited to just 300. The retail price is $52,000. The designer explains that the focal point of the new design is the mirrored dial, which has been crafted with painstaking precision.

"The mirror is always interacting with its environment, ever-changing according to what clothes you're wearing, the décor of the room, the lighting, the time of day, the weather," she says. "I know women with a great eye for keynote accessories who are going to love this." Caroline must have been reading out mind.

The price tag might be a little bit much for a weekend shopping outing but while snooping around we felt satisfied settling for Caroline Bucci's other jewelry designs. We love this heart-shape ring ($3480) that utilizes the same Florentine-technique hammered gold finish as the Royal Oak. These hoop earrings are equally as beautiful and just $720. If you're still yearning for some arm adornments, go for this coil 'Caro' bracelet ($550).

If you're really looking for a great deal on something Caroline Cucci we suggest you click to TheRealReal,. We found the Italian jewelry designer's inventory heavily discounted. This version of the Caro bracelet can be found for as little as $144, chain hoop earrings are just $925, gold bangles with charms are $500 and a twisted colored rope bangle is $145.

The Caro bracelet is an okay temporary diversion for our Royal Oak obsession but it's not a cure. After all, the combination of a mirrored dial and a watch could make our iPhone obsolete, right?

Inside: Lanvin Private Sample Sale 90% Off

Lanvin certainly isn't the same without Albert Elbaz but that makes shopping past season's fashion a little more fun. The Lanvin sale is still technically private but the cat is out of the bag and nobody is technically watching the door.

We always love this sale because the discounts are great and there is always some prize to take home. Dresses are reduced 90% off retail and all other items are discounted 80%. The other reason we love this sale is for of the amazing staff. The sale is very well organized and the salespeople are among the sweetest we've ever encountered. Going to the Lanvin sale is like attending a private bi-annual reunion.

To be totally truthful, the merchandise selection isn't as amazing as some past sales. There are no bags, shoe sizes are limited and the jewelry selection is dwindling fast. That being said, we spotted %3500 gowns that are now just $350. We spotted an old Elbaz dress reduced to $240 from $2400. Ballet flats with jewels in smaller sizes are about $140 from $700. We agonized over one necklace that's $240 from $1200. (You can click here to see pictures of what we found inside the sale.)

There is also a great assortment of merchandise for men. We suggest that everyone grab a few bow-ties, cummerbunds and lapel flowers. You can't go wrong for $10 each.

The sale runs through Friday. We expect that some items will be marked down further on Thursday and Friday. As is, prices are pretty fantastic.

Nordstrom Sale Edit: Winter Style

It's that time of year where you have the bug to shop but everything you want is still full price. We started browsing Nordstrom's sale section and were very surprised by how many items provided serious shopping temptation.

We nearly fell on the floor when we scrolled past this lipstick pink wool coat with an oversized pink-grey fox collar. The current price is about $2000 from $3000. Not exactly a steal but it's a much better deal than the Dior version that's about $6500. This millennial yellow duster from Theory is $350 from $600 and is perfect to put over a chunky sweater. Speaking of dusters, here is a full length 100% cashmere style with a hood that's just $175 from $350. It would look perfect with these Stuart Weitzman slouched leather high boots that are 40% off.

The best part of scrolling a Nordstrom sale section is the denim selection. Over this way, we found classic Farrah AG jeans. They have been our go-to jeans all Fall. Here is the same style jean in a waxed Bordeaux color. This flared style jean from Paige is really great because it has slits at the ankle that allow you to show off your boots.

Leave it to us to make the non-sale season a time of temptation. Sooooorry. 😬

The It-It: Wild For Tiger Print

I love how every season animal prints are lauded as a new trend. Do animal prints ever go out of style? It doesn't seem so, however, sometimes they can come off as cheesy if when left untamed. This season, a tigers print specifically is catching the attention of top trend spotters.

Getting out of the basic leopard-cheetah-snakeskin routine might not be easy but it's worth the effort. We find the vertical stripes to be fresh and a little more restrained. My favorite tiger pieces are the long coats. This Giambattista Valli double-breasted long coat is as wild as it is refined. Here is another coat option from Dolce & Gabbana and a knee-length option from Simonetta Ravizza or Proenza Schouler.

If you're not willing to make a big coat commitment you can always opt for a dress or top. Here is an adorable mini-dress from Valentino Red or a silk blouse from Dolce.

I would never suggest going from top to toe in any animal print but you can always just adorn your feet for a more subtle take on this trend. Here are Aquazzura ballet flats, pony hair print work boots from Proenza Schouler and Attico flats with an ankle band.

My very favorite item might be these tiger print sunglasses from Chimi. Clearly, I have too many favorites.

You can style tiger print like most other animal prints. I like going with a traditional color-blocking philosophy. Some people like to go "wild" and clash different prints. It's not easy to do and easily becomes distracting to the eye. I especially love pairing the browns with jewel tones like, red and green. You can even add some flash with the sparkle of a sequin.
