The It-it: Micro-Pleated Midi Skirts

Fashion week, or month, is in full motion. As we dive into one collection to another we have been struck by the abundance of micro pleated midi-skirts. As Fall approaches, the longer skirts seem almost irresistible.

Sally LaPointe, Gabriela Hearst, and Ulla Johnson are just a few designers that feel head-over-pleat for Summer '19. On the runway, we saw these tiny pleats shown as monochromatic ensembles. The long line of just one color appears is slimming, clean and classic. The impact is really felt when a bright color like fuschia or red is used. To add a more casual vibe, pair your midi-skirt with a logo tee or oversized sweatshirt and low cowboy boots.

Inside: 10 Corso Como NY

I was barely a teenager the first time I went to 10 Corso Como, in Milan. The out-of-the-way neighborhood even baffled the taxi driver. I remember driving around for some time until we realized it was better to find the store by foot.

It was cold and dark outside but the moment we walked in I knew I was somewhere special. It wasn’t a store layout I recognized. 10 Corso Como blended nature with fashion. Clothing and art were commingled. It was hard to know what was for sale and what was a retail prop.

After several years of anticipation, 10 Corso Como opened in New York and surprisingly maintained the same retail philosophy as its Milan predecessor in the 90s. The store is located at the South Street Seaport district, which is not usually frequented by indigenous New Yorkers. Just like in Milan, it took a moment to find the entrance. (I happened to enter from the back of this store.) The store also blends fashion, art, fragrance and home decor.

The clothing is generally what you would expect to find in an experimental retail environment. There are tiny bouti2ues to explore, like at Dover Street Market. There is a lot of Comme des Garçons, Maison Margiela, exclusive Gucci and Balenciaga pieces and a great Prada capsule collection.

In addition, there are some brands that I haven’t seen (or noticed) in ages. For example, I spotted an entire rack of Rudi Gurnreich and some incredible exclusive pieces from Alaia. Most of the fashion price points are on the expensive side but there were some surprises, like a baby soft coat in pink from Mansur Gavriel that's under $1000. You can see pictures of some of my favorite items in the jump.

The buyers, or should we call them curators, of 10 Corso Como know that most people aren’t in the market for a $3000 reflective skit and have created a large collection of Corso Como branded items for the souvenir shopper. There are store-branded phone cases for $50, Italian olive oil for $65, logo-ed Superga sneakers for $120 and branded Birkenstocks for $240. It would really be hard to walk out with absolutely nothing. I have pictures in the jump.

Like every great destination retailer, there is a chic restaurant attached that serves Milanese style Italian food. The gnocchi was perfectly soft and the cappuccino was perfection. The only disappointment was that there is no Splenda. That being my only complaint, I would call that a shopping success.

NYFW: Five Minutes with ... Rebecca Minkoff

Rebecca Minkoff began her eponymous label in 2001 with a five-piece capsule collection. She gained attention in 2005 after she designed the Morning After Bag – her bags are named after “the stages of love”. Minkoff relaunched womenswear in 2009, focusing on boho, feminine styles with a rock chick edge. Today the brand is known for its edgy accessories, and stud detailing is a signature aesthetic and is stocked by more than 900 retailers worldwide, among them Selfridges in the UK and US department stores like Bloomingdales and Nordstrom. I sat down with the designer at her New York Fashion Week launch of ‘I am Many’ to discuss the brand and the idea behind her newest campaign.

LD: For one who’s always put females first, how do you think that’s contributed to the brand’s success?

RM: It’s only natural that once I got moving that it was time to pay that forward. I know it’s been part of my success but I have no way to quantify it.

LD: Who are some of your female mentors or women that you admire?

RM: I want to get rid of the idea that we have to have mentors. A woman who inspires me is Jessica Alba as an entrepreneur and founder of a company. She has really put in the blood, sweat and tears into her company. She is a mom of three. She is someone that I’m always like, “Yeees.”

LD: What way has the Minkoff girl changed over the years and how?

RM: I think the Minkoff girl originally liked me for my bags. That’s what I started with and then we grew up together. I was the same age as my customer and then I know that I can’t forget who I was at 27 and who I was at 23. I want to make sure that the young people that are just about to buy their first bag that I am that person for them. So I really have taken it back and grown for those who are 45 and older.

LD: Do you think it’s hard to speak to the 27-year-old girl now and the 45-year-old woman?

RM: I think you have to offer different products. The messaging is very much the same because as woman, and as multi-faceted woman, we are all hitting these milestones. You know you’re about to hit it or you’re close and you’re seeing other people around you hit it. So I think it allows for more inclusivity.

LD: What’s your goal with the ‘I Am Many’ campaign?

RM: What I would really love is if more people would share the different sides of themselves. That they are emboldened and more confident because if you’re just by yourself doing one thing and you fail, you think, “I suck.” If today you think ‘I was a great mom but a shitty boss,’ ‘Yesterday I was a great athlete but a shitty mom,’ then you can take confidence in the things you are good at and lean on those.

LD: Since you’ve started, how as the culture of fashion changed for women?

RM: It’s more inclusive. Not inclusive enough when it comes to race, color, opportunities. I think that conversation is just starting and needs to get a lot stronger.

LD: So what’s next?

RM: I launch my podcast on September 18th. I thought you just had to flip a switch and say, ‘talk to me’ but it’s so much work. It’s more work than I ever imagined but it’s really fun. When you have been doing the same thing for 13-years, it’s really fun to do something new and learn something.

LD: Isn’t it hard to start a new project when you’re already stretched for time?

RM: I think that’s where the team comes in. I think not enough woman can admit that they have a whole team that helps them. I am very vocal that I am able to do so many things because I have a whole team. I am able to leave the office because someone says, “I got this, you go ahead.” You don’t have any more hours in the day than I do but I have more brick layers.

Barneys Gift Card Promotion

Not sure what to do this weekend? We suggest you head to Barneys.

Through Sunday, Barneys shoppers can earn a $25 gift card for every $250 you spend. Purchases over $500 will get you even more. Accrued gift cards are redeemable for merchandise from September 28 through October 21.

The only exclusions are Louboutin shoes (handbags are included in the promo), Chanel and Celine. That leaves lots of the prime fall fashion from which to choose (or shoes.) Gucci, Fendi, and Dior are included in the promotion. We would suggest going for a logo Fendi tote, a Dior visor (for ski season 😉), a Balenciaga logo cardigan, a Prada puffer or maybe a lipstick print skirt.

The 'Infinity' promotion is available at Barneys stores nationwide, on the website and at BarneysWarehouse. (Designer collections are an extra 30% off!)

Be warned, however, Barneys will most likely not extend the dates if the cards aren't used during the specified window of time. So be sure to enjoy your meal at Fred's and go back next week to use those gift cards!

NYFW: Five Minutes with Sally LaPointe

Interview by Cameron Towsen: FrontRowEdit

Sally, congratulations on another beautiful show. Can you tell me more about your collection and inspiration for this season?

SLP: Thank you very much! Yes, this season was inspired by the comic book East of West, a Science Fiction western set in a dystopian America. I wanted the collection to reflect the mood of the books, which was a mix of traditional and modern. It was an exploration of color and material.

How do you and the team forecast and plan for the season ahead?

SLP: We plan very far in advance. Being a small team, it is what we have found works for us. I’m not a last-minute kind of designer, I don’t operate on stress. We start each season about six months out. I am actually working on Fall 2019 right now so that should tell you something! I feel lucky for the team I have, they keep me on track.

How important is a show location/set design to tell your story?

SLP: I think it’s everything. I love the drama and the 360 experience you get with a show. I love scouting new places to show, and working with my production team Dizon Inc to bring the collection to life with the set.

In what way would you describe the SLP girl?

SLP: Cool, easy and luxe.

Where is the most offbeat place you have found inspiration?

SLP: Great question! I find inspiration in a lot of different places, I would say one of my favorites was about how Lillian Bassman discarded decades’ worth of unprocessed film only to be found years later and developed. I did a whole collection inspired by this.

How did you start in the fashion industry and where did you study?

SLP: I started in the fashion industry knowing nothing, and no-one. I graduated from RISD with my best friend Sarah Adelson and moved to NYC. We both got jobs working corporate for a few years before we decided to just go ahead and start our label. It was a lot of trial and error, but we feel proud that we are 100% self-taught and have built a company organically with a strong team around us.

Since you started out, how do you think the culture of fashion has changed?

SLP: The culture of fashion has changed so much since I started. If I’m honest, it feels a bit political at times, which distracts from the core of fashion which is a beautiful product, raw talent, and having something meaningful to say.

What is next for the brand?

SLP: We have so many new things happening with the brand. We have some great new partnerships coming soon, we have launched a capsule e-commerce collection on our website, so there are some major things shifting right now which are very exciting to me.

Neiman Marcus Extra 25% Off Clearance

Just when you thought all the sales were done, Neiman Marcus comes and proves us wrong. Clearance merchandise has already hit over 75% off and the additional 25% off promotion brings the total savings to nearly 85% off. The promotion is only available online but includes clothing, shoes, and bags.

The shoe assortment is especially interesting. We found these Manolo Blahnik slide sandals for $252 from $675, NO.21 sandal mules are $171 from $760 and Gianvito Rossi d'Orsay heels are $372 from nearly $1000.

The clothing selection is quite good too. This No. 21 silk floral print gown isn't given justice in the picture but it's a true stunner and a steal for $600 from $1600 and this lace top is also a classic for $162 from $865. Here is a very on-trend Tom Ford dress for $840 from $4500 and this white one is only $540. Some less expensive options include this metallic leather moto jacket for $234 from $700 (and yes, it's real leather) and a Rebecca Taylor linen jacket for $185 from $500. We also happened upon Kim Seybert napkin rings for $5 apiece, which is a true steal.

This sale runs through Wednesday (and then there will be an 'extra bonus day' on Thursday.) We don't expect prices to get any lower. There are so many great fashionable items that it's really worth taking the time to sort and scroll. Just take note, that shipping is free but returns are not.

Fashion Week Trends Spring '19: Marigold

We are just a few days into fashion week and it doesn't take long for trends to emerge. We are rounding out the top trends. Expect to see these looks on the street and in pages of your favorite fashion magazines next Spring.

Millennial pink, move over! A not so mellow yellow is taking the runway spotlight for Spring '19. The exact shade has been coined marigold but subtle variations include sunflower yellow and mustard. It's like the sun itself took a magic wand and added it' glow. Hugo Boss added his sunshine to a jumpsuit, Tory Burch used a marigold color crochet over a white shell, Neem Khan plans to brighten your evening with a marigold ball skirt topped with a silver halter top.

You don't need to wait until next Spring to get ahead of the trend. Scroll through above to see what we found available in stores now.

Nordstrom Summer Sale 70% Off

School has officially started but that doesn't change the fact that it is still technically Summer. Just step outside if you don't believe us. It feels like sticking your head in a 400-degree oven!

Well, if you don't mind, we are going to jump ahead and indulge in a few last end-of-season sales. Nordstrom is offering up to 60% off designer merchandise that's really ideal for Fall.

We found the $7000 Saint Laurent Yeti boots discounted 40%-- which still brings the total price to $4200. Not exactly a bargain but they are full price at every other retailer. Over this way, we found Balenciaga silver boots discounted 60% or $876 from $2200. This Canada Goose hooded parka is reduced to $630 from $850 and this Veronica Beard classic jacket duo is $475 from nearly $800.

The sale only runs through September 9. There seems to be a lot of great Fall options but if you're still in luck if you're still filling n your end-of-Summer wardrobe.

Barneys Warehouse Sale Summer '18

The thermometer certainly does not look like Fall but a nice discount can add a breath of fresh air to your day-- even in this heat. Right now, Barneys Warehouse is offering extra discounts up to an additional 60% off sale merchandise. The added savings brings the markdown to 85% on some items.

The online Barneys Warehouse sale has some of the top fashions from last seasons' collections. Patent leather Miu Miu boots are $240 from almost $1100, a very pretty Chloe crochet dress is $700 from nearly $4000 and Calvin Klein platform sandals are $160 from $900. The clearance sale may be even better for men. It's really worth sorting through.

The Labor Day promotion also includes non-clearance items. The discount is an addiitional 30% and includes a wide assortment of Miu Miu bags. Over here are Aquazzura fur sandals that are $420 from $1000. (You might just want to cuddle with them.) Gingham Paul Andrew heels are $250 from $675.

This promotion runs through September 5. Be sure to also check out the home items and kids' selections. Shopping online is so much better than the old conventional warehouse sale. The prices are just as good and there are no lines!

Pre-Labor Day Sales

There are only a few more rays of sunshine left until the unofficial end of Summer uses her claw-like fingers to throw us back into reality. Lucky for us, there are still a few days to catch up on those things we've been meaning to do and buy all Summer.

As a personal rule, I like to try and fill in the items that I'll need for next summer (or vacation) right now, while the prices are low and the discounts are high. The best part is that I am really in touch with what's missing from and needed for my wardrobe. By the time Summer '19 rolls around I will be secure in knowing that I have everything I need and won't feel guilty for indulging in a few new trends and impulse purchases.

Transitional Fashion: Summer to Fall

This post is in collaboration with Nordstrom. I may receive a commission or a percentage of sales from items purchased.

The thought of trading in our short-shorts and sunscreen for tights and hot coffee is almost unbearable. Transitioning is never easy for anyone and Summer is the only season that ends abruptly and absolutely. Fun, fun, fun. Labor Day. No more fun! Nothing about the change is easy.

At this point of the year, I like to shop for some smaller, less expensive items to usher in the new reality. Nordstrom is an ideal online destination to find everything you need for back to school and back to reality.

For back to school, my girls were immediately attracted to the State bags. The embroidered star, moon and rainbow style ($80) ended up as the big winner but a metallic style ($80) is eye-catching too. Another great thing about State bags is the give-back element for children in need-- this is the reason why these bags are at a higher price point. This Adidas backpack ($55) is also really popular among the kids and is a bit more reasonably priced.

I might not be technically going back to school but the thought of homework and school dropoffs make it feel as if I am. While shopping for backpacks and kids' essentials,  I picked up a few key pieces for myself too. This ruffled hem dress from Halogen comes in the perfect grassy green and transitions seamlessly from aprés beach to city streets. The best part is that it's only $69.

Over this way, I found a jumpsuit with a slight ruffle ($103). I plan on wearing to a beach-side dinner Saturday night and then with heels on a sunny September day. I can even pair it with a denim jacket as the air turns chilly. The item I'm most excited about is a little Calvin Klein Jeans cropped polo ($39). It looks amazing with white skinny jeans and when it gets a little cooler I'll swap the bottoms for black jeans. (You can click over this way to see how we styled all of our new transitional items.)

As you can clearly see, a few inexpensive fashion items can redefine the whole meaning of Labor Day and back to school. As always, online shoppers should take advantage of Nordstrom's great customer service, which features free shipping and free returns. If only all stores were as easy to shop as Nordstrom.

The IT-It: Paper Bag Pants

Pants are the most difficult item of clothing for which to shop. Practically speaking, they are even more difficult than swimsuits. We are all looking for that perfect pant that will show off our, ahem, best ass-et.

This season, paper bag style pants are making a huge rustling in the slacks department. The pants are absolutely not made of brown paper grocery bags. The style is the result of an oversized high-waisted pant that's belted tightly enough to cause a rippling paper bag–like effect. We especially love this style coming out of the Summer season. It's a casual look but still dressed up enough for urban life. Look for a pair in a light cotton or linen for warmer September days.

Our favorite paper bag pants are the Natalie from Milly, which are also very affordable at $395 and look great  in just about any environment.   There is also this light denim blue color that's on sale for under $200. We also like this style for Fall from Proenza Schouler ($990) and here are slacks from Sally LaPointe that are a wool winter white and look heavenly ($950). Here is a pant in red from Smarteez that's $395.

I like to pair mine with a loose fitting sleeveless blouse or a bodysuit. Rather than use a standard belt, try wrapping a long scarf around your natural waistline to add a bit of your unique style flare. We just warn you to be careful with three-quarter length styles, unless you're wearing them with heels or are exceedingly tall. Basically, the cropped styles only look good on models.

Opening Ceremony Goes 75% Off

Opening Ceremony just wrapped up a crazy sample sale. Prices were outrageously discounted but lines extended for hours. The scene inside was total mayhem. No matter the markdown, that's not how we would ever consider spending the last days of Summer.

Not all is lost if you're looking to snag some of Opening Ceremony's Downtown-cool style for deep discounts. Right now, you can head to the store's website and save up to 75% off. Over this way, we found this varsity style dress for $68 from $225, this babydoll cut bomber jacket is $238n from $600, and this Vivian Westwood top (or dress) is $300 from $740.

Most of the sale assortment consists of the house brand but we love that it's so reasonably priced. It's even more affordable when it's on sale (obviously). Opening Ceremony is also a great brand to buy for stylish teens because of the price points. Bonus points, you can share!

MatchesFashion: New Markdowns

A leading article from the Business of Fashion declared that consumers are "seeking out Instagrammable outfits for travelling," which presents a year-round opportunity for fashion brands and retailers.

We are completely on board with this all-year-round Summer shopping because we are always happy to add more Summer to our lives. It's a good thing that MatchesFashion just filled their sale section with an abundant assortment of wear-now or travel-with-later wardrobe options.

Some of our favorite sale picks include this dramatic beach robe that's $721 from $1358,  a Mara Hoffman dress is $270 from $550 and a bikini from Haight is $108 from $216. Here are shell earrings, which we love, for $136 from $272 and Le Specs metal frame glasses are $62 from $90.

An industry insider says that vacation packing isn't just about buying bikinis and coverups. She suggests that your vacation purchases should follow three underlining notions: "can it be worn from the beach to the bar to dinner; how easy is it to pack; and does this style transcend seasons and can the look be built into next season."

We agree with all these pointers. If only someone could make the 'real' Summer last another two weeks.

Bergdorf Goodman Pre-Fall Markdowns

We got an alert that Bergdorf Goodman was offering the first markdown on all new merchandise. It's hard to understand how to categorize this markdown. We think it's pre-Fall?😬 Truthfully, it's hard to know but we gave it a browse and were actually surprised by what we found.

We headed over to do some magic sorting. We found this Alice & Olivia midi dress that's just $117 from $395, a DVF wrap top in Fall 2018 shade of yellow is $150 from $300, an Off-White 'For Display Only' tote is half-off or $600 from $1200 and this Alexis dress with ruffles is $190 from $381.

You can also find a lot of bathing suits in the mix, which makes us think that this sale might just be late Summer deliverables. Who can tell any more? Bottom line, it's a markdown and there's some cute stuff. The end.

Farfetch Discounts Top 70% Off

This morning, Farfetch took the first steps towards IPO with the filing of an F-1 with the US Securities and Exchange Commision. The Italian e-commerce platform had been rumored to be taking steps to become a public company for over a year. As financial investments, we aren't too keen on luxury retail stocks. They tend to fluctuate vastly according to retail trends. Discarding a trendy shoe is one thing but nobody enjoys a stock that goes out of style.

While the broker-dealers grapple with the pricing of the Farfetch IPO, we figured we would dive into the site and see what deals could be found within the site. We were surprised to find a lot of Off-White discounted 70%. Here is a grey sweatshirt that's $213 from $720 or this floral one for $200, a bomber jacket is $431 from over $1400 and here is a white Binder bag reduced 30% off.

Other sale highlights include these Golden Goose jeans at 80% off or $90 from $445, an MSGM dress with ruffles is $159 from $516 and a Prada tiger print coat with PVC topping is $762 from over $2500. (I think I'm in love!)

Shoes and bags are on the pricey side and could be found for less in many other destinations. Another thing that we've noticed is that some sizes are priced higher than others. That's because the merchandise is coming from various boutiques and not all stores discount the same amount. We wonder if those types of disparities will make it harder for analysts to forecast stock prices. Wall Street isn't known for its tolerance of the unknown.

The IT-it: Cowboy Boots

As much as we hate to see Summer winding down, it's always smart to stay ahead of fashion's biggest trends. We are excited to bring on the browns, the layering sweaters, and slip on a pair of boots-- cowboy boots, that is. Nope, it's not just for South of Mississippi.

These boots will always be a signature style for country singers and ‘western’ style culture but they have also made a comeback for Fall 2018. The current rendition of this trend isn't necessarily a jeans and teeshirt look but they can be outfitted with a mini skirt and long trench or go a little rock n' roll and pair them with leather.

Raf Simon's regeneration of Calvin Klein includes one of the most popular cowboy-style boots of the season (($1995). If these are your jam, we suggest you act quickly because some retailers have already sold out and Barneys is running low in sizes too. Fendi also offers a great updated Western style boot with a wedge heel. You can opt for Zucca print ($1190) or go for the more basic style. We also like the heel on the Isabel Marent boot ($1350). These Golden Goose high boots are a surprise hit too ($1050).

For men, our favorite style is from Amiri ($1390). Here is one option in brown suede or basic black. This Calvin Klein men's boot  ($1122) is also attracting lots of attention. We just aren't sure how much we love the toe but you can decide for yourself.

Bergdorf Goodman: Inside Final Markdowns

Most department stores have removed their Summer merchandise and shipped it out to discount stores. Bergdorf Goodman is one remaining store that still has a scattering of top style summer merchandise. The current markdown is 75% off clothing and 50% off shoes. No sale handbags remain.

Reduced Summer clothing can currently be found on the 6th floor. Inside we found a Rosie Assoulin pleated top that we've been stalking all season. It's now about $400 from $1600 or it can also be found at Moda Operandi for $430. From Jacquemus, we found a La Bamba skirt reduced to $200 but there aren't enough closures to keep the slit closed and keep your 'a-hem' covered. We also found the skirt on Shopbop for $135 but, remember, it will need some tailoring for extra closures and it runs big. There was also the iconic Off-White Princess Di tee reduced all the way down to $50. The closest we can find it elsewhere is on Farfetch for $166. (You can click over this way for pictures.)

Shoes are only reduced 50% off, which isn't exactly what we call a bargain this late in the season. What remains are lots of Valentino styles with white Rockstuds, No. 21 style mules in various prints and numerous Gianvito Rossi styles. We have pictures over here.

There are no additional discount promotions scheduled through September and we don't think this merchandise will last in stores for much longer. We suggest you take a pass through the store/online or just take a pass.

Stylebop: 70% Off Delpozo, Versace & Balenciaga

On a whim, we went surfing through Stylebop's most reduced merchandise not expecting to find anything remotely current. We couldn't believe the how much great fashion could be still found and it's all reduced 70% off and even more.

Over this way, there's a Versace blouse with a classic print that's discounted to $340 from $1410. (There's an extra 10% off for the last size IT42/US6.) There is a great assortment of Delpozo, like this strapless dress that's $910 from over $3000 or this peplum top that's $315 from $1050. A less expensive option is this high-fashion looking Tibi skirt that's just $158 from $530 or Paul Andrew heels that are $275 from $919.

Browsing along we couldn't really find anything that would be a bad purchase. The selection is really progressive and most items look like they will seamlessly transition from Summer to Fall to next Summer, again. Just try to divert your eyes from the new fashion if you want to avoid full-price temptation. It can be hard to resist.

Saks Fifth Avenue: Save Now Gucci, Prada YSL

We have become all too familiar with department stores' gift card shopping incentives. You spend as much as you can for the opportunity to receive a gift card for a later purchase. More often than not, you get your gift card and think that you're going to save it to buy something special. By the time you commit to the purchase, the gift card is expired. It's all very disappointing.

Good thing, Saks Fifth Avenue is offering a promotion that doesn't require to use a gift card at a future date. Depending on how much money you spend, you can save money off your purchase right now. For instance, if you spend $400 you can save $100, spend $800 and save $200 or an expenditure of $1200 will earn you a savings of $300. The promotion is only available online. Use the code LOVE at checkout to engage the savings.

The best part of this promo is that it can be used for designer merchandise that just came into stores. There are also very few exclusions. You can even use the promotion towards Gucci shoes, Jimmy Choo, YSL shoes and bags, Manolo Blahnik and Prada.

Some items we've been eyeing and are currently considering include, Manolo gingham Hangisi heels,  a Saint Laurent envelope bag or the newest style Prada tote. These Off-White houndstooth pants are the item of the season and are almost sold out. How perfect are they for fashoin week? Take note, sale merchandise is eligible for the discount too.

Don't hesitate, the discount only runs through Wednesday. Next time Saks is offering a promotion it could be one of those tricky gift cards.

Effortless Summer Beauty

One of my favorite things about Summer is peeling off all the layers that tend to weigh you down all year long. Rings and jewelry feel cumbersome, my nails are short and haven't been polished in more than five weeks, I refuse to pick up a blowdryer and can't remember the last time I wore mascara.

My Summer beauty routine is very minimalistic but it works. I can assure you that this is the complete guide to everything I use to beautify during the Summer. After all, everyone naturally looks better with a little kiss from the sun.

Colleen Rothschild Face Oil ($85): During the year I was mixing a pump of this face oil with the Sheer Renewal Cream. A few weeks ago I cut out the cream and just started moisturizing with the face oil. It seems strange to put oil straight on your face but it adds a gorgeous glow at the end of the day. I especially like the effect because I'm not using any concealer, blush, foundations, bronzers or anything else. This oil is really all I've been using and it's quite perfect.

Fekkai Apres Soleil Creme ($12): Getting that perfect beach wave in your hair is almost as difficult as surfing. I've fallen in love with Fekkai's Soleil hair cream. I love the smell, texture and how it turns my straight hair into natural waves with minimal frizz. It's essentially a trifecta.

Charlotte Tilbury So Marilyn ($34): Bright red lips in the Summer really don't work. Neither does nude regardless of what's trending. We have found the perfect lip isn't a glossy lip shine or matte neutral. The best look comes from a lip "stain". We have found the ideal technique is swiping a finger over red lipstick and then blotting your finger on your lips. The transfer is light but adds the perfect amount of color to brighten your eyes.

L'Occitane Verveine Shower Gel ($20): After a long day at the beach the combination of salt, sun, sand, and sunscreen begins to make my skin crawl. I can't get into the shower fast enough to wash it all away. L'Occitane Verbena is cooling and invigorating. The fragrance and cooling action awakens your senses and leaves you feeling completely refreshed.

For the Love of Hair Caviar Shampoo & Conditioner ($10 each): I am basically a Pantene loyalist but sometimes even your favorite products start to feel heavy and drab. While browsing the shampoo aisle, I found this Caviar shampoo and conditioner set and have been thrilled. I love the scent, the texture, and the results-- especially for the price.

The Webster Discounts Hit 70% Off

The Webster is best known for reigning the fashion set in Miami (and more recently Soho) but it's also a great place to seek out exactly what you want for a deep discount. Right now, markdowns have topped 70% off and to end the Summer fashion season, the boutique is offering an additional discount of 20% off. Use the code EXTRA20 to engage the additional savings.

Our favorite tee of the Summer is this Brooke Shields classic from Calvin Klien that is discounted to $78 from $190. This satin bag from The Row is about $550 from $1700, this white Stelle McCartney mini-dress is about $300 from almost $1000 and a top from Sies Margan is about $210 from $590.

This extra 20% off sale only runs through Sunday. Most of the store's merchandise can be found online but the really expensive and higher-end designer items can be found at the Soho store location.

Saks Fifth Avenue: Additional 20% Off

We are really coming to the end of sale season. These last markdowns of the season usually contain questionable fashion designs and a variety of pieces that were initially priced way too high. But, there are also a few hidden gems if you look closely enough.

Right now, Saks Fifth Avenue has slashed prices 70% and is also offering an additional 20% off, which brings the total savings near 80% off. We went on a hunt for some of those aforementioned hidden gems and found a few surprises. Over this way, we found an adorable Valentino crossbody bag that comes to about $680 from nearly $2000 and this Fendi backpack is almost exactly the same price.

The sale doesn't include a large variety of shoe options but you're in luck if you're into a finding a deal on some new clothing. There is a large assortment of Vetements left over, which isn't such a surprise because of the wacky retail prices. At nearly 80% off, we can splurge. We are tempted to go for this Vetements puffer for $1100 from nearly $2800.  Seems like a fun way to get hyped for Winter.

Not ready for Winter? Us neither. Here is a Calvin Klein collection blouse that's $190 from $850, a Balenciaga blouse is $380 from almost $2000 and a Balmain mini-skirt is $270 from nearly $1400.

Remember, Saks has a no return policy on prices reduced this much. At this point, however, it's not too much of a risk. Resale prices tend to scale higher than these current markdowns.

Travel: August Vacation Packing List

There is nothing we don't love about Summer. Even 100-degree weather can't get us down. Our favorite part of Summer, obviously, is August vacations. Before checking out, it's always nice to pick up some fun pieces of fashion regardless of where you plan to unwind.

Something new is always fun regardless of if basking in the infinity pool of Hotel du Cap, dancing on tables at Scorpios, in Mykonos, or just slipping into flip-flops for long beach days. Right now there are some great sales on beachwear, which usually runs on a markdown schedule a little bit different than the rest of fashion. Over this way, we found  a Karla Colletto one-piece bathing suit that's $150 from $300,  the perfect Jonathan Simkhi coverup is $227 from $455 and this Pucci maxi dress is perfect for table dancing or yachting.

Not everything you pack needs to be haute. Asos is perfect for shopping for casual and inexpensive beach pieces. Here is a marble print maxi sarong for just $19, a beach dress with a playful pom-pom back for $32, and we love this animal print ensemble that's even great for after the beach or for a walk into town.

Don't forget about accessories and jewelry. Bauble Bar is our favorite secret for inexpensive look-great jewelry. We are in love with these rainbow drop earrings that are just $38 and rhis bracelet bundle is everything you need to get the party started right on your wrist. While everyone is making a spectacle wearing oversized floppy straw hats, go with something more tailored and demure. Here is an Eugenia Kim hat that's just about perfect.

An August vacation is a great excuse to take advantage of sale season. It's also fun to have a few new pieces for an upcoming trip plus you can "apply" them to your fall and winter Carribean vacations.

Manolo Blahnik Final Markdown

We have made it through two markdowns at the Manolo Blahnik boutique the final price cut is finally here. Starting today, Manolo will begin their final markdown of the season. This three-day sale is the perfect opportunity to stock up on classic and ornate shoes from the spring and summer collection at up to 75% off.

As usual, we are told that the savings are "not to be believed!" Styles are from the exclusive boutique collection and include some alligator. Prices are always marked by sticker dots, which usually range from $195 for a red dot up to $350 for a green dot. Most shoes and low boots-- even highly ornate styles-- are priced at $250.

The store might be crowded but at least there isn't usually a long line to get in. The sale will only run through Wednesday. Styles and sizes tend to run low quickly. If you're looking for a great deal we suggest you switch out of your heels and take a run over to the boutique asap.

For a full rundown of past final markdowns, you can check out past stories here and here. Feel free to share news of all your finds in the comment section below.

Net-a-Porter Clearance Extra 20% Off

The Net-a-Porter clearance sale is winding down and many items have been reduced to 80% off and the site is offering an additional 20% to close out the season. The final days of the sale are usually a shopping frenzy and the best items disappear rather quickly.

While a majority of the clearance merchandise is 70% off there are lots of great items that are discounted 80%. A few of our favorite items are a printed taffeta skirt from Co $200 from $995 and a Stella McCartney romper is just $80 from $400. We really couldn't resist these Vetements booties for $290 from $1450. (These highest discounts don't qualify for the extra 20% off.)

If you're shopping for an upcoming vacation you can really score. Check out this lace bodysuit from Ganni that's $80 from $145. A bright red swimsuit with a deep v-neck is also $80 from $205 and a Vix floral-print beach dress is just $90 from $230.

We sincerely suggest you hop on the site as soon as humanly possible. Even while creating this post, items were disappearing. Don't forget, we just mentioned merchandise at 80% off. There's a huge amount of product that is discounted 70%. Happy shopping!
