Ralph Lauren Clearance 75% Off

Ralph Lauren has started another markdown on some of their summer clearance today and most merchandise is now reduced 75%. Although this isn't the biggest sale of the season, you can still find some great items.

In most cases, the Ralph Lauren boutique will match the online prices but you will need to wait for a manager's authorization. In this instance it might just be easier to shop online. This leather-trim short trench comes to just $341 from $1900, this men's officer pea coat is $350 from $1300 and a RXL polo is $45 from $125.

You should take note that only a small selection of merchandise has been discounted the additional 50% off. You shouldn't procrastinate if there's something you like within this promotion. And it's always ironic how much more you "need" an item once you can't have it.

DSW $199 Shoe Sale

DSW has clearly shifted away from carrying a large inventory of designer shoes but there are still some great items on which to feast. Right now company's site has a couple of dozen designer shoes that are all marked $150 and below.

The famous shoe retailer has an assortment of deeply discounted shoes from Giuseppe Zanotti, Sergio Rossi and Ralph Lauren. Check out these Zanotti nailed flats that are now $199 from over $500 and these suede booties are just $150 from about $700. Outside the rock bottom clearance section, there are other attractively priced shoes. These Sergio Rossi nude pumps are $200 from $570 and these Ralph Lauren collection sky-high sandals are $200 from almost $1000.

Although this sale doesn't include the depth and range of inventory and designers, there are still a few good pieces. Unfortunately, the day of finding great deals in at big discounters is getting increasingly more difficult.

Ralph Lauren Now 70% Off

Ralph Lauren  started their summer clearance today and most merchandise is now reduced 70%. Although this isn't the biggest discount for the Americana-designer, this is the time of year where you can find the best sale selection.

In most cases, the Ralph Lauren boutique will match the online prices but you will need to wait for a manager's authorization. In this instance it might just be easier to shop online.

After sorting through all of Ralph Lauren's difference collections and price points we have grown rather fond of the Black Label Denim line. Check out this waxed denim and leather dress that's now $413 from $1300 and this scoop neck sweater that's $440 from $1100. Of course, the sale includes a lot of polos. We happen to prefer the boys sizes for ourselves and grabbed this white and neon green big pony polo for $20 from $45 and these 11 big polo color combinations are just $15 from $45.

In the "grown-up" men's section, there is a white Black Label Denim paratrooper jacket for $720 from $2000, custom fit polos starting at $35 from $85 and these colorful swim trunks for $35 from $85.

You should take note that the new markdown just started today and merchandise is selling rather quickly. We suggest not procrastinating on checkout. We had items sell out as they were in our shopping cart. And it's always ironic how much more you "need" an item once you can't have it.

Ralph Lauren Olympic Fever Nearly Sold Out

While we've been joking over the "vibrantly" designed "Christmas Sweaters" that the olympians wore to the opening ceremony, Ralph Lauren has been laughing all the way to the bank. Those patch work sweaters that were the focus of many fashion jokes, are completely sold out along with most of the collection.

If you're considering grabbing bit of Sochi sports memorabilia, we suggest you do so soon. Team USA Ralph Lauren bear is already sold out and so is our favorite pea coat. So what can you buy if you're in need of some Olympics nostalgia? There's the Team USA zip-up jacket for $195, the opening ceremony hat for $95 and team USA crewneck flag sweater for $295. There's also an assortment of tees for both men and women.

After shopping the olympic gear, you should also check out the designer's final sale. All clearance merchandise is an extra 20% off with the code LASTCHANCE20. Most of the best final markdown merchandise is already gone but you might get lucky. Afterwards you can head over to JC Penny and pick up GO USA mittens for $10 from $14. Just be careful when tweeting.

Ralph Lauren Clearance 80% Off

Ralph Lauren has started their winter clearance where most merchandise is reduced 70%. Online shoppers can use the code WARMUP20 and save an additional 20%, which brings the total savings to just about 80%.

In most cases, the Ralph Lauren boutique will match the online prices but they may give you a problem trying to get the additional 20% off. In this instance it might just be easier to shop online.

We have been crushing for this black and white leather jacket all season and it's a relative bargain for $860 from the starting price of $3000. It shouldn't be hard channeling the bygone years of Downton Abbey with this beaded v-front gown for $1440 from $5000. These cashmere fingerless gloves are a great find priced at  $71 from $400.

On a more practical note, there's this men's large pony polo is $26 from $110. A cashmere cable knit sweater from the Purple Label is great for both him or her when priced at $287 from $1000. Men's work/all-weater boots (perfect and not too ugly for the snow) are $57 from $179.

The sale also includes kid's clothing and home accessories. Just note, that home goods are only reduced 30%. You should take note that merchandise is selling rather quickly. We suggest not procrastinating on checkout. We had items sell out as they were in our shopping cart. And it's always ironic how much more you "need" an item once you can't have it.

Ralph Lauren Pre-Sale

Online shoppers can begin shopping the Ralph Lauren presale and save up to 40% on select styles and then an extra 15% off. The final discount is just about 50%. You can click here to start loading up your shopping cart. If you have a problem applying the discount you can use the code MPRE13 at checkout.

The presale includes a wide selection of merchandise for men, women, children, babies and the home. While the best items are reduced 30% we were still able to find some notable items discounted even more. For example, the Arctic Down anorak is $303 from almost $600, the Equestrian Vachetta Saddle Bag is $about $590 from $1150 and there are rare markdowns within the children's Create Your Own Polo section.

The presale ends October 30. Going forward we assume the discount will be available to the general public.

Ralph Lauren Extra 40% Off

Ralph Lauren has started their final summer clearance and all sale merchandise is an extra 40% off. The additional discount is available in stores and online using the code RLSUM40. The final discount is approximately 70% off.

While browsing we found a white wrap blouse from the runway collection that is $300 from $1000, this cable knit cashmere sweater is $209 from $755 and this python fringe hobo bag is $1780 from almost $5000. There is even a good selection of men's polo shirts that are now $35 from $98.

Beware, sometimes the boutique markdowns are not as steep as the prices online. It's usually best to track items online while you shop.

Second Markdowns at Saks, Bergdorf & Barneys

By ManhattanMataHari

New York’s big three department stores– Bergdorfs, Saks, and Barneys – started taking their second markdowns and added sale merchandise from Chanel, Christian Louboutin and Alaia. We scoured the stores and compared prices on our favorite designer items. We found that Barney’s has the best prices on accessories and clothing but the selection is more limited than their competition. Saks generally has the best pricing on shoes but their ready-to-wear discounts are currently tied with Bergdorf Goodman. You can click here to see dozens of pictures from our shopping trip.

Barneys
The first floor of Barneys, which is essentially a handbag gallery, has discounts that range from 30% to 40% off. We found a surprisingly large selection of Proenza Schouler handbags on sale, including a great lime PS1 satchel for $1119 from $1695. Balenciaga has two seasonal non-leather bags on sale, a small olive First for $959 and large cherry red work bag for $999. If you head to the second floor you will find the best selection of Giambattista Valli and Lanvin clothing, which takes the cake at 60% off. On the third floor we were impressed by the selection of Jil Sander and The Row for 60% off. Unfortunatly, the Missoni selection was rather thin. There are loads of Celine ready-to-wear but the discount is just 40% off. On the fourth floor we were sad to not find any discounted Saint Laurent or Proenza Schouler but were buoyed by the huge selection of Balenciaga, Marni and Givenchy at a 60% cut. As for shoes, Chanel will go on sale Friday at 40% discount and Louboutin, Alaia and Celine are all currently 40%. Most other designer shoes are currently 60% off retail. Barneys shoe department is a clear winner for the best selection of Saint Laurent, Lanvin, Miu Miu and Maison Martin Margiela. We spotted some funky Bottega Veneta platform pumps for $349 from $880. We don’t anticipate further discounts on shoes but there will be one more markdown on clothing, which usually goes to 75% off. More pictures are right this way.
Jamise (accessories): 833-2031
Olga (2nd floor): (212) 833-2522
Alicia (3rd floor): (212) 833-2088
Kareem (shoes): (212) 833-2141

Bergdorf Goodman
If you’re looking for Tom Ford purses then you should head to Bergdorf Goodman. There are two red Jennifer bags for $1829 from $2750 and a small cross body version in blue suede for $1129. We also found print Proenza Schouler and Givenchy satchels in the sale mix. Our favorite discount bags are the selections of Valentino and Nancy Gonzalez, which are marked down 40%. Heading up to shoes, there are many misleading signs that will tell you the shoes are 40% off, however you will be hard pressed to find any styles discounted more than 30%. The good news is the shoe selection here is definitely the best of all the department stores and includes high end brands like Roger Vivier, Alaia, Lanvin, Tom Ford, Saint Laurent, Charlotte Olympia and Christian Louboutin. In the mix are gold and silver metallic YSL Tribute sandals and a great selection of boots. Heading into the boutiques, Tom Ford and Fendi are nearly full of 40% off ready-to-wear. The Gucci selection is also still very plentiful. The third floor of Bergdorfs has loads of mixed designer sales racks. We were smitten with the great selection of Roland Mouret dresses and discounted Prada and Balenciaga. The fourth floor selection of Akris, Oscar de la Renta, Lanvin and Valentino is far more extensive than Saks. How can you say no to one of those clear rockstud trench coats? Since the selection is so extensive, you may want to hold off until July when shoes typically go to a 50% cut and clothing is discounted up to 75%. Click click for photos.
Carlos (Chanel accessories): (212) 872-2858
Scott (shoes): (212) 872-8940
Trayvion (Chanel clothing): (212) 872-8689
Rachel (3rd floor): (347) 986-9629

Saks Fifth Avenue
When you go to Saks Fifth Avenue prepared to take an additional 25% off sales prices (plus an extra 10% with your Saks card), which puts prices in Barney’s markdown territory. We are not usually impressed with the handbag selection at Saks but we did spot some discounted Stella McCartney faux animal fur Falabella totes and Marc Jacobs shoulder bags for 40% off. We also found an orange Chloe Paraty and snakeskin embossed micro Marcies discounted 30%. There are a few Alexander McQueen day bags for 40% off. On the second floor you will find loads of discounted Michael Kors. We saw tons of Piazza Sempione, Escada and Brunello Cucinelli, Yigal Azrouel, MaxMar and Moschino. Checking out the Burberry selection we were please to see several coats and trenches, including a nice basic short black trench for $717 from $1195. There are also great sale options at Etro, Missoni and Ralph Lauren Black Label. Up on the third floor we were disappointed there weren’t many signature Emilio Pucci prints on sale but nearly everything in the extensive Dolce & Gabbana section is 40% off. The Jason Wu, Herve Leger and Proenza Schouler sales racks are becoming sparse but we were thrilled to find lots of awesome Peter Pilotto print dresses. Heading to the shoe salon everything is currently 30% off plus the extra 25%. Chanel, Dior and Louboutin shoes are all segregated on the right side and are elageable for the additional 25%. We found our favorite Chanel velvet smoking slippers for $595 from $850 but were not impressed by the Louboutin selection. Of all the department stores, Saks has the best selection of YSL Tribute and Tribtoo pumps. Same goes for Brian Atwood’s Maniac pumps, Nicholas Kirkwood, Giuseppe Zanotti crystal-embellished everything and Alexander McQueen. Peek at our pictures for more in store details.

Sarah (Chanel accessories): (212) 940-4347
Steven (2nd floor): (212) 940-2713

Ralph Lauren Home Sale

If you feel at home surrounded by the lush surroundings of Ralph Lauren design, here's your chance to decorate for less. Ralph Lauren Home is hosting a sale where furniture, lighting, home accessories, decorative pillows, gifts, vintage items and antiques will be significantly discounted.

The sale runs from Friday through Monday. In prior years, this promotion was only open to Ralph Lauren employees but the discount was great with markdowns up to 75% off. During past sales picture fames were $35, cashmere throws were $75, table lamps were about $200 and bed frames were in the $5000=range from nearly four time that amount.

Beware, the first day of the sale brings some huge lines but if you wait too long the merchandise gets thin. And this is one instance where thin is not a good thing. On the bright side, shippers will be on premises to assist you with your purchases but costs and arrangements are the responsibility of the customer.

Ralph Lauren Home Sale
Friday, February 22 to Monday, February 25th
Fri 12pm-7pm, Sat & Sun 9am-6pm, Mon 9am-5pm

Ralph Lauren Final Prices

By ManhattanMataHari

One of our favorite January sales is always Ralph Lauren. Right now, the Madison Avenue flagship is hosting a sale where prices that are already discounted 40% to 50% are an additional 30% off. The final discount on some items are as high as 80% off!

We found $7500 Beverly crocodile booties for $2100 and a $3200 crocodile clutch for $1200. Winter white Gatsby-themed items are still plentiful as well as a fierce. A $4498 black leather sleeved dress is now just $1098. We suggest heading to the store rather than shopping online because that same leather sleeved Collection dress is $500 more on the brand's website.

Our favorite items in the boutique are always the cashmere sweaters-- both men's and women's. A Collection women's black cashmere crewneck is $250 from almost $1000 and a men's classic cashmere cable sweater that comes in 13 different colors is under $200 from a starting price of almost $400.

We suggest you call or shop the store immediately if there's a particular item that's peeked your interest. We were told that the merchandise will not be around for very long but we hope that shoppers will seize opportunity while it lasts.

5 Great After Holiday Sales

We apologize in advance but we are going to take off for the rest of the year. We wouldn't want to leave you hanging so we put together a list of sales you're not going to want to miss.

In the meantime, you can always email us with your inside shopping tips. If we can find a reliable network we'll be sure to pass on the information along with your unique spy name. Happy Holidays, Healthy New Year!

1. Saks Fifth Avenue
Starting Wednesday morning, Saks will be enticing shoppers with an additional 50% off from 8am until noon for a total savings of up to 70% off. After the clock strikes noon the additional savings drops to just 40% off sale items. So set your alarm clocks or presale tomorrow.

2. Net-a-Porter
Right after the first of the year, luxury e-tailer, Net-a-Porter has starts a second markdown where many reduced items are an additional 25% off for a total savings of almost 70%. Of course you can wait for this merchandise to hit TheOutNet but why wait?

3. Manolo Blahnik
The Manolo Blahnik usually starts their first markdown immediately after New Years. The discount is normally 33% off but if you can wait three weeks prices are slashed to 50%. Then right when you think your winter blues can't get any worse, Manolo starts their February clearance sale where shoes are discounted up to 75% off.

4. Ralph Lauren
When Ralph Lauren slashes up to 70% off we've been known to raid the Rhinelander Mansion for cashmere sweaters for ourselves. The best part is that most of the stock that's left is a size xs, which is just perfect for us. Just be careful, prices in the store don't always match up online. So bring your iPad so that you can price compare.

5. Barneys Electric Holiday
The Barneys Lady Gaga Workshop might have been genius but the Disney holiday theme is a bit too Times Square for most of us north of 57th Street. Following the New Year, expect to find Mini Ears and Goofy towels for 40% to 70% off.

Ralph Lauren 25% Off

We had a hunch that Ralph Lauren was tres cool in Paris but we had no idea just how much the brand had blown up internationally. Who would have known that a grand pony polo was hotter than anything Lanvin?

We are told that those big pony polos on Boulevard St Germain are 150-euro, which is about $200. On Madison Avenue those same polos are "just" $98 and through April 6th you can save 25% on your polo and most everything else at Ralph Lauren.

The "Shop in Style" discount benefits cancer prevention and research through the Pink Pony Fund. The discount is available in stores and online with the code RLGIVE2012. Now you can look as as hot as the coolest Parisian and have money left over to put towards your flight.

We hope that the sale this year offers the same pricing but we have our doubts.

Beware, organizers don't want your kids and their sticky fingers. So no children under 12 will be admitted. On the plus side, there will be shippers on the premises to assist you with your purchases but costs and arrangements are the responsibility of the customer.

Ralph Lauren Sale

Ralph Lauren has taken an additional markdown on select fall and winter merchandise. The total discount is currently about 60% off. The sale is also online but instore prices don't always match up. We suggest taking your iPhone to the store or calling before you click.

There should be another markdown on the way but by then the merchandise will be very thin. We always like to use this time to stock up on polos and ski-wear. Don't be too shy to shop the men's store. In past years, we have found the most amazing cashmere sweaters sizes reduced to tiny fractions of their retail price. And really, is there anything much better than men's oversized cashmere to keep you warm?

Ralph Lauren's 4D Explosion

Wednesday night, Ralph Lauren fans were treated to a wonderful 4-D light show presentation in honor of the tenth anniversary of RalphLauren.com and the launch of the UK version. Using architectural video mapping technology, the façade of the new woman's store was illuminated with larger-than-life models, polo players four stories tall, and iconic accessories.

(The video kicks off at about 56 seconds)

Ralph Lauren has a long history of integrating technology into its brand. When Polo.com was launched, it uniquely included magazine-type editorial and pictures along with e-commerce. It was the architecture of the site and the multiple listing categories, like resort or purple label, that made the site truly groundbreaking in 2000. (These were the days of 56K modems, my dears.)

More recently, Ralph Lauren added touch-display technology to his store's windows. Customers who arrived at the boutique could literally window shop through an interactive display that lets passersby browse and order outfits by tapping on the storefront glass.

We don't know how this 4-D technology can be applied to future business applications but for now, we are simply happy being wowed!

Pink Pony Celebration Discount

In celebration of the 10th of the Pink Pony Fund, Ralph Lauren boutiques are offering customers a 25% discount on their purchases. In addition, 10% purchases will be donated to the Pink Pony Fund, which is a foundation with the worldwide mission to help fight cancer.

The promotion runs until October 11 and can be used at RRL & Rugby stores, RalphLauren.com (code: RLGIVE2010) and Rugby.com. Unfortunately, the small print excludes Made to Measure or women's Collection apparel and men's Purple Label.

Simotanously, Ralph Lauren is running one of the most extravegant online charity auctions we've ever seen. Up for auction are meetings with Lebron James, Jerry Seinfeld, Anna Wintour, Martha Stewart and Diane von Furstenberg. You can shop with Simon Doonan, escape to Donna Karan's house in Turks and Caicos or have your child's birthday at the Ralph Lauren kid's store in London.

Just browsing the auction is fun. I know what I'm bidding for, how abut you?

Ralph Lauren Discount

Ralph Lauren usually throws a friends and family sale right about now but the company is hosting a cause related marketing promotion instead. From Tuesday, April 6th to Monday, April 12th you can get 25% off your Ralph Lauren purchase and the company will donate 10% of your bill to the United Way Worldwide Disaster Fund.

We don't know if this incentive is taking the place of friend's and family, which is usually a 30% discount. Unless you're buying a croc Ricky bag the price difference is negligible.

Unfortunately, there isn't much left from the Olympic collection but you can customize this USA track jacket with your own name. We also love the men's big pony polos for Spring/Summer. It's a Hampton necessity.

Retail Therapy: Kiran Rai

Kiran Rai founded the popular fashion brand, Sir Alistair Rai with a line of t-shirts that had slogans such as, “Adopt Me Angelina” and a portrait T-shirt of Mahatma Gandhi. The Kitson buyers saw these t-shirts and the brand has been in rocket mode ever since.

Angelina Jolie, Julia Roberts, Halle Berry and Jessica Alba are fans of Kiran’s designs, which has expanded into ready-to-wear and accessories. Today, her collections can be found in over 500 retailers including, Nordstroms, Intermix, Henri Bendels, Selfridges and Harvey Nichols.

This week, we caught up with Kiran to talk a bit about our favorite pastime-- shopping. After speaking for a short while it became evident that Kiran's style has two very distinct tracks, one that’s easy going and relaxed and another that’s completely polished and sophisticated. Kiran’s split life between Arizona and NYC is literally, poolside to Upper East Side. She has a weak spot for Chanel but is lusting after a classic pair of denim overalls. If these two items aren’t diametrically opposed, what is?

Read for yourself and let us know what you think.

What's your most prized "deal?”
Around Halloween time I went to Screaming Mimi’s (a downtown vintage shop) looking for a costume. I ended up getting a fox hair coat for $120. It’s really beautiful.

The best deal was a YSL jacket I found at a thrift store in San Francisco for $60. I wear it all the time. Since the recession I find that vintage and consignment shops are booming with more product then ever before.

Biggest regret that you didn't purchase?
It’s almost ridiculous, but I wanted these Chanel flip-flops made of cheesy PVC. I think about them all the time. They are a plain black flip-flop, the bottom of the sole is gray and there is a small logo on the side. They almost look like Havaianas --but Chanel Havainas. I thought they were just too ridiculous but I would have worn them all the time.

This season you are looking for...
This season I am looking for denim accents. A really good denim shirt or Ralph Lauren overalls. The look takes me back to 1984. There is something about it that just feels right.

What's your number one shopping tip?
If you cant get it out of your mind go back and buy it. I used to just buy, but then I realized that I just ended up with lots of things that I don’t even wear. I have become more frugal. If I think about it for a week, it’s mine.

What's your biggest weakness?
Chanel! I am a huge fan. I think it’s timeless. The pearls, the bags, cloths, shoes—I have tons. I have enough ballet flats to open a dance studio.

Is there an item for which a shopper should never mind paying full price?
I say Chanel. It’s timeless. I don’t feel like this about any other designer besides the House of Chanel. It’s worth the money. You only need one timeless bag in black. You will remember more about buying your fist Chanel than you will about your first boyfriend. It’s the truth!

Kors Takes Ungaro

We hear that Michael Kors just inked a deal to take over the Emanuel Ungaro space on Madison at 67th Street. The Ungaro store quietly closed earlier this month after reducing prices 75% off.

The Northern Kors boutique, at Madison and 77th Street will remain open according, to our source. Michael Kors also has another boutique at Madison and 60th Street, which just opened 16-months ago and carries his jet-set Michael Kors line in addition to his lower lines, Kors by Michael Kors and Michael by Michael Kors. We don't know if the former Ungaro location, which is just 1,600-square-feet, will carry all three lines. Calls to the Michael Kors press office were not returned.

We can't help but wonder if this expansion into a Madison Avenue location is a way to take on Ralph Lauren, who has cemented a deep footprint into Madison. If so, Michael has his work cut out for him. Ralph is currently building a new 27,500-square-foot store to accent the 22,000-square-foot Rhinelander Mansion, which will be dedicated entirely to men's wear.

Should we stir the pot and title this the Americana wars? Jet-set-vs-preppy!
