Thakoon Sample Sale

There are few people we trust when talking about worthy sample sales. It takes an experienced shopper and fashion insider to spot the sale and get access. Fashion writer and Twitter luminary, Jim Shi (jimshi809) is one of the few we fully trust.

Earlier today, he hit the Thakoon sample sale and seemed as excited as a 12-year-old girl buying her first Coach bag. "ALL Manolo Blahniks x Thakoon $50!!!! Sizes 38-41!!!! Dying!!!! Just bought 7 pairs!!!!", he wrote.

Jim even captured pictures, which include the mirrored heels Thakoon did for the runway with Giuseppe Zanotti and Manolo suede and snakeskin ankle stilettos. Yes, there's clothing too! Samples, which are generously cut, are priced up to $100.

All in all, Jim ended up spending $550 for three dresses and seven pairs of shoes. We just hope his girlfriends appreciate him because few men are willing to put out like that.

OK that's just annoying. It's hard enough keeping up with girls who actually KNOW they WANT the shoes they buy. Now we have to compete with some male who's just "hoping" some girl friend of his is going to like it. Some girl who didn't care enough to go to the sale on her own?

Not impressed by this guy. Just annoyed.

Went to the sale as soon as I received the email. I am sad to say that I was not impressed at all! They did have lovely flat weaved sandals by Zanotti for Thakoon - but alas, they were all size 37!!! The rest of the shoes seemed unwearable - really high, old-fashioned/too weird, and finally pretty worn out (likely on the runway). The clothing was ok - priced definitely way more than $100! Long maxi dresses were in the $300-400's. So, don't be too sad you missed it - I didn't get a thing. :)

Also hit the sale around 2:30 and left disappointed and empty handed. The few pairs of $50 shoes were in terrible condition. The better ones were priced at $300. Didn't see any clothing under $150, either. Perhaps Jim cleaned out all the good deals.

There weren't very many shoes left by the time I got there either. But at least Jim was able to buy 7 pairs of women's shoes to stare at in his closet.

I did pay $175 for a Resort 2010 dress! So I was happy. See below.

I dunno what you guys are talking about! I went over at 6pm, and saw the Armor dress (2010 collection), which is currently retails for $1450, for a cool $390. Sure its not a $100 bargain, but its a helluva discount. Thanks Lila you made my weekend!!
