Barney’s Second Markdowns

By: ManhattanMataHari

Barney's has started their second markdown and we couldn't wait to canvas the store to see what great merchandise is still available. Ready-to-wear is all marked down 60%. We were told that there are no further discounts planned but additional markdowns may be taken after an review inventory, during mid-July. (That means you can cound on one more price cut.)

Starting on the first floor we were disappointed by the sparse selection of designer accessories – although if you are a hat person you will have quite a variety from which to choose. There are a few nice Thakoon, Henry Cuir and Marc Jacobs handbags available, but we would suggest heading straight up to the second floor.

Isabel Toledo dresses have been marked down but are still hovering around $1500, and there were even a few Moncler spring jackets on sale from $699 to $899 from around $1700. There were a number of Fendi frocks and separates ranging from $389 to $1059 and a few Yves Saint Laurent dresses and separates. You will also find some nicely discounted Nina Ricci and Rochas. We were really excited to find a Lanvin trenchcoat that was $5330 marked down to $2129.
Raphael: 212-833-2088

Moving on up to the third floor we couldn’t help but notice the selection of exquisitely tailored Giorgio Armani slacks and work appropriate attire. While the slacks ranged from $319 to $509. In our opinion the highlight of this floor is definitely their formal dresswear, with a huge selection of elegant dresses and gowns marked down to get any gal ready for benefit season.
Deborah: 212-833-2098

Next stop was the shoe department and we were impressed by select shoes that were already marked down to 70%. Although Chanel and Christian Louboutin remain at a 40% were were able to find Chanel’s adorable camellia flower rainboots for $209.
Jennifer: 212-833-2141

Moving up to the fifth floor we were surprised to see how well stocked the sales sections were for Proenza Schouler and Dries Van Noten. There are many sizes and styles of separates and it shouldn’t be too difficult to find something to fall in love with. Anne Demeulemeester and some Rick Owens have also been marked down. We even found some nice leather jackets by Costume National and The Row for under $1000.

PhotoOp's 50% Off Sale

It's not secret that everyone looks better during the summer months. Bronzed skin and golden highlights are just a few of the natural beauty bonuses of warm weather. We couldn't think of a better time to strike a pose and capture the moment.

PhotoOp is just the place to go. The Upper West Side photo studio was voted the best in New York by New York Magazine and we would have to agree. We can't say enough about the stylish editorial-style photos and the kids can't stop talling about the "sample closet." It's filled with some of the cutest designer kid's clothing, which are all available for your photo shoot. There are sequined skirts, fresh starched blouses, floral bouquets, leather jackets, pink tutus, glitter shoes, rain boots and more. It's almost like a mini Vogue closet.

PhotoOp has an even better reason to make you smile. Through July 31, customers can save 50% on regular sitting fees plus 10% off all print orders. So don't delay. Grab the kids, your pets, grandparents and take advantage of this amazing offer. The warm weather won't last forever and neither will this great offer.

Imperio Sale

By: TJ Kennedy

Just because you haven’t nailed down a tropical summer vacation doesn’t mean you can’t reward yourself with a few exotic souvenirs. Luxury South American line, Imperio jp, is known for their fine Argentine leather products and eclectic home décor products and is hosting a massive showroom sale.

Many leather bags are over 50% off with cross body satchels down to $150 from $450 and several canvas totes that retail for $400 now only $60. Signature hobo style bags are marked down 25%, come in a variety of colors, and have interchangeable handle straps. The smaller, patent leather styles are only $50. Hamptons-worthy leather duffel bags are also 25% off and made to order.

All home décor items are half off with hand woven silk throw pillows in bold colors and prints are now $137 from $275. Larger floor pillows come in pairs and once retailed for $1,200 are marked down to $600. A great two-for-one deal-- if you’ve got the space in your apartment for floor pillows.

Clothing is 50% off but the selection was not our favorite part of the sale. Bright colored silk scarves, tops, skirts and jackets were plentiful, but not memorable. Button up blouses were $100 while Batik cotton dresses were $60 and one-of-a-kind silk jackets were marked down to $400. There was also swimwear and beaded jewelry included in the sale that are fun, affordable additions to any summer wardrobe. A $15 bikini? We’ll take two.

Word has certainly not gotten out yet about this sale and there is still plenty of merchandise; they are ready to get things moving so don’t be shy about making reasonable offers. We suggest sticking with the soft, durable leather bags, which seem to be their trademark. Save the rest for that exotic getaway you’ve been craving.

Muji Sale

If American Apparel and Bed, Bath, & Beyond had a baby, it would be Muji. The Japanese retail store has everything under the sun: from candles and containers to kitchenware and clothing. Right now, the entire spring/summer collection is 30% off and almost everything in the store is included. Tanks and tees are only $15, while jeans are $60 and lightweight knit sweaters are only $49. There is a ton of merchandise left in a variety of sizes and neutral hues. Essential sun hats in several styles are discounted to $45 while select canvas tote bags are $30 and small luggage pieces are marked down to $129.

Men’s clothing selections are also plentiful and both men and women’s spring trench coats are $150. Linen pants are $59 and button ups are $49. Not that we are suggesting an entire linen ensemble, but it’s nice to have options. Collared t-shirts are down to $28 and khaki shorts are $64. At prices like these, why not pick up a few staple pieces for him?

Some of the higher discounted items in the store include cotton bed sheets and soft duvet covers all in varying shades of beige, which are 50% off. A pair of sheets run for about $50 to $70 depending on size. With so little time in a day, Muji’s one-stop-shop style makes it easy to pick up all your wardrobe and household necessities in one place.

Second Markdown Time at Saks

Saks has started their second markdown on summer merchandise. Prices are now up to 75% off. Clothing, shoes and bags are included in the new markdown

We browsed the online store and found an Alexander Wang mini dress for $186 from $445, a Gucci trench for $1529 from $3400 and a Valentino blouse for $400 from $890.

Over in accessory and shoe land we found lots of great items. The discount at Saks greatly rivals that of Prada boutiques and there's also a great assortment, including those striped elastic sandals that are now $311 from $595. In addition, Alexander McQueen skull flat sandals are $311 from $395 and a Maison Martin Margiela bowler is $755 from $1440.

True bargain shoppers may want to hold out just a bit more. There's still the markdown that goes to 75% and then consolidation.

Alexis Bittar First Markdown

Alexis Bittar has started his first markdown on the summer jewelry collection. The discount is 30% off but there's usually a markdown of 50% later in the season. In addition to the Madison boutique, shoppers can browse the deals at the online store.

Right now you you can find a modernist gold link necklace for $276 from $395, A signature large hinge bracelet for $298 from $425 and small hoop earrings are $123 from $175.

Even if you live close to a boutique, we suggest familiarizing yourself with the collection online. The store's sales associates usually seem more concerned in organizing papers at the register than assisting customers in sorting through the vast amount of merchandise to find the most suitable style.

Alizé Mix Squad Launch Party

Beyoncé was certainly on to something when she said that girls run the world. The latest realm to be taken over by an all female force: DJs. Last night, Adrienne Bailon hosted a launch party at the Rivington Hotel for the Alizé Mix Squad, the first all female DJ crew headed by the notorious duo, Nina Sky. The party was glittered with socialites, musicians, and NBA players as the girls took turns spinning in the DJ booth.

Specialty cocktails were served blended with the liqueur of the night, Alizé, a premium passion fruit based drink from France that has deep roots in the music industry. The Mix Squad girls are brand ambassadors and consists of DJ Dimepiece, DJ Eque, DJ Kiss, DJ Niena Drake, DJ Rashida, and Jessica Who?. These DJs have come together from all over the country to form an empowered female music crew as well as, let’s face it, run the world.

Buccellati Sale

By ManhattanMataHari

While exhibiting at Madrid’s 1920 Exposition, it is said that Mario Buccellati hurled an expensive compact out a window when a woman asked for a discount, shouting, “I am not a tradesman!” We wonder how Mario would feel about this week's Buccellati sale being hosted by Soiffer Haskin at the jeweler's 57th Street boutique.

Generations of jewelry shoppers love Buccellati for their detailing and one-of-a-kind pieces. The company only produces about 3,000 pieces of jewelry per year, about 500 of which are one-of-a-kind pieces. As a fan we couldn't resist scounting the discounts, which are up to 50% off retail.

The sale started today and we couldn't resist taking a look. The handcrafted fine jewels and watches are all 40% off retail and silver servingware and home accents are 50% off. Despite the lofty prices, fans of the jeweler can appreciate how seldom this brand goes on sale. Even resale prices hold up wonderfully.

We found a sizable selection of jewelry, brooches, cuff links and jeweled watches. The pricing varies based upon the metal, but the majority of the sale jewelry is 18K yellow or white gold. There are a wide range of prices. We spotted a brooch retailing for $2500 and a lovely woven yellow gold necklace for $16,000 retail.

Shoppers will also find a wide selection of Buccellati's signature flower blossom necklaces. A version in sterling silver ranges from $1200 to $1900 and is significantly more affordable after the 40% markdown. If you are looking for a one-of-a-kind watch, we suggest checking out this sale before it ends on Friday. There are a number of lively colored crocodile strap watches with intricate faces. Prices start around $16,000 and go up to $80,000 for an engraved white gold pocket-watches.

Upstairs, you'll find finely crafted silver for the home. There are a variety of silver trays starting at $10,995. A large Torchon silver tray retails for $44,200. In addition, a selection of silver candlesticks ranges from $16,500 to $31,000 for singles and pairs.

Obaibi Summer Sale

There is no denying that shopping can be an addiction but shopping for a tot can cause you to really lose control. There’s something about miniature sized anything that is completely irresistible.

One Madison Avenue store that fuels our shopping obsession is
Obaibi. The fashion forward French children’s store specializes in clothing for babies and toddlers from newborn to five-years-old. What’s even better is that the boutique is having a super sale where their summer collection is discounted up to 50% off.

An adorable embroidered dress is $21 from $35 and a coordinating three-button cardigan is $14 from $28. A little boy’s zipped hoodie is $15.75 from $31.50 and the coordinating polo shirt is $13.50 from $22.50. See-- affordable and adorable!

Those with tots who aren’t so mini, can shop the big kid’s store
Okaidi, which specializes in sizes 3 to 14-years. The collection is available online but if you’re feeling more ambitious you can scope out one of the four US Okaidi stores. Click here to find the location closest to you.

Valentino on Sale

We are still making our way through the best sales on Madison Avenue. Today we stopped at Valentino to check out the markdown and selection.

The discount is a straight 40% off across all spring merchandise. That includes shoes and handbags too. If you're looking to be a step ahead of the trend, go for the studded ballet flats. These classic style shoes can easily be worn into fall and are $297 from $495. As for bags, we especially like this studded style, which is $1100 from $1845.

When it comes to clothing, we prefer to stay away from anything too trendy. Valentino always has the most beautifully detailed clothing. Take this white ruffled cocktail dress that's $1314 from $2190. It's perfect for a luncheon or an evening party.

Unfortunately, our favorite Valentino item is not being sold in the boutiques. A nude color ballet flat is perfect for a spring day and is so light that it feels as if you're walking barefoot. Right now, this shoe is 30% off at Chuckies and but we are going to wait for a second markdown before taking the plunge.

Massimo Dutti Comes to NYC

Zara's parent company, Inditex, will be opening the first Massimo Dutti concept store, in New York, later this year. We are told the new store will be taking the Zara location at Fifth Avenue and 54th Street.

Massimo Dutti is known for their high quality products and custom tailoring. Although the price point is considerably higher than Zara, it's still very reasonably priced. For example, a custom suit is about 450-euros, which is about $640. A men's shirt ranges in price from 50-to 60-euros ($71 to $85) and a woman's dress is about 99-euros or $141.

Fans of Masimo Dutti say to be on the look out for their leather jackets, bags and jeans. We even hear the store has a mega end-of-season sale where discounts range from 50% to 70% off. We think this is a store we can like, no, love.

Addicts of the the Fifth Avenue Zara should not shed any tears because it will be relocating a few blocks south at Fifth Avenue and 52nd Street. For now, you can look foward to Zara's spring sale, which will begin later this week.

Last Minute Father’s Days Gifts on Madison

By: ManhattanMataHari

For those of us procrastinators, it can be quite stressful figuring out what gifts to give. This year, why not give dear old dad something different – does he really need another animal print Hermes tie? We searched Madison Avenue boutiques and found some special shops where you can purchase your Father’s day gift on sale, naturally! We do suggest checking on their sales item return policy - just in case
Manrico Cashmere
Manrico Cashmere has marked down the majority of their menswear. Lightweight cashmere normally ranges from $540 to $700 is marked down anywhere from 30% to 50%. They also had some really nice cashmere peacoats. Even at 50% off a retail price of $3800 may still be expensive for a gift for dad.
Brigitte: 212-794-4200

Davide Cenci
The Davide Cenci boutique is known for their fine tailoring and collared shirts normally priced from $240 to $270. They are now 40% off. If you are pooling gift resources with your siblings, they have a great selection of unconstructed sports jackets as well racks of Loro Piana outerwear starting around $1400, included in the 40% markdown.
Giorgio: 212-628-5911

Giorgio’s of Palm Beach
A bit further downtown is the menswear staple Giorgio’s of Palm Beach. Don’t let the name fool you – they have plenty of custom Italian-made Manhattan-appropriate men’s couture. While no sales prices are posted they are more than willing to work within your budget. Through a bit of yapping, a cashmere sweater normally priced $795 was reduced to $495. Everyone seemed very willing to work on prices throughout the store, so why not stop by and try your luck?
Valario: 212-319-3108

Eredi Pisano
The Eredi Pisano boutique is encouraging last minute father’s day shopping with a weekend sale. Their collared shirts normally priced from $195 to $260 are 30% off. In addition, their seemingly endless selection of ties are marked down 40% off an origional price of $110 to $150. You will definitely be able to find a tie to suit your dad here, and at these prices you can get two for the price of one.
Irelis: 212-418-9630

Hickey Freeman
If you are looking for nice casual menswear at a more wallet-friendly price, we suggest popping over to Hickey Freeman. Nearly everything in the store is currently marked down 30%, and they have a large selection of items marked down 75% as well.

Bleecker Street Sale Briefing

By: TJ Kennedy
Sometimes getting out of your own neighborhood is enough of a scenary change to feel like a vacation. This week, we decieded to take a break from our Madison Avenue adventures and head down to browse the best of Bleecker Street.

We begin our West Village journey at the ever-edgy Zadig & Voltaire where almost every item in the store is 30% to 50% off. Cut out tees like the white skull piece Erin Wasson donned in the spring campaign, along with backless jersey tanks are 30% off. While this still leaves them going for around $100, these are the types of basics that are so much more than basic.

Denim jeans were 40% off a retail price of $250, while most spring dresses were 50% off and range in price from $500 to $600. Most of the leather bags with zipper detail were discounted 40%. Spring kids clothes fit for rock star babies are all marked down 30%.

We reported about the Mulberry presale but figured we would check out the official markdown. We found a plentiful assortment of merchandise, for now. The classic Tilly bag in a variety of spring colors and textures are 50% off, while most of the other bags are marked down 30% to 40%. Even year round, black leather goods are included in the sale. Wallets, key chains and jewelry are 30% off and the case was full of options. Be sure to grab an over sized pink beach bag while you're there-- at 50% off, it's a real steal.

Burberry has three racks full of sale items marked down 30%. There were several windbreaker style jackets down to $550 from $795 along with chunky sweaters and button ups. The few dresses were priced at $420 and spring jeans are at $179 from $250. Unfortunately, there is only one style brown leather jacket, one pair of buckled ankle boots and one over sized plaid bag offered on sale. But hey, the store next door has Burberry men's marked down and Father's Day is just around the corner.

The sale at Intermix ranges from 30 to 50% off. There were plenty of bright colored jeans and bohemian skirts along with nautical striped and crochet tops. Tanks that were $160 were down to $89 and most jeans ranged from $129 to $159.

Spring blazers in neutral colors were $300 to $400 depending on the designer. For those brave enough to don Herve Leger band aid dresses, there were a few styles discounted from $1,595 to $995.

Now if only they would hurry up and open the Jimmy Choo boutique on Bleeker! We've all been waiting patiently...

Herve Leger Spring Markdowns

By ManhattanMataHari

Many of us are familiar with Herve Leger’s signature bandage designs by the seemingly endless list of Hollywood starlets and Bat Mitzvah guests donning his form fitting dresses. While his high-end collection by Max Azria are normally priced at about $1300, we discovered that his Madison Avenue boutique is now having a 40% off sale.

This boutique has a wonderful range of colors and styles of dresses, skirts, tops, and bathing suits that are all marked down. While it can be difficult to find basic colors in department stores, there are a number of popular styles and colors on sale in the boutique, including black and beige as well as more spring and summer hues. There are also a handful of embellished evening gowns marked down 40% to 60%.

For a better selection of unique dresses you can browse the online store, although we suggest hitting up the boutique first.

Louboutin: Champagne, Macaroons and Markdown

Don't feel bad if you didn't snag an invite to the Louboutin because you now have an official invitation to the Christian Louboutin presale. The event starts Tuesday (but some friends reported shopping the sale today.) The markdown on shoes are 30% to 40% off. The real deal, however, are bags that are marked down to 50% off.

To mark the sale event, the Madison Avenue store will be serving champagne and macaroons. Now all you need are your dancing shoes and you'll be the toast of the town.

Philosophy Friends & Family

This time of year is so much about hospitality and the art of being a good guest should never be underestimated. Bring flowers to a dinner party and you might overwhelm your host. Cheap wine is definitely another big no-no.

That's why we like to bring something to indulge our host with a gift that's more personal and requires some pampering. Philosophy products are always well received and from now until June 16 you can save 25% off your order. Check out this perfumed hand wash and body lotion set that's normally $35 or this shower gel, which is appropriately named "gratitude" and doubles as a shampoo and bath wash for $22.

Mulberry Preview Sale

We just love the names brands call their unofficial first markdown. Most company's call it a presale, others call it a private sale, we've even heard the phrase "customer loyalty" but Mulberry has coined their unofficial first markdown a "preview sale." Persoanlly, we just call it a sale.

Now, Mulberry alerted customers about their unofficial sale today. Shoes, accessories and bags are 30% off. Clothing is up to 50% off. Mulberry fans will be very excited to know that even the iconic Alexa is included in the markdown.

An oversized Alexa is $1015 from $1450, a patant leather Bayswater is $690 from $1150, a D-Ring Wrap Wedge is $486 from $695 and a Twist Dress is $837 from $1675. You can use this link to view the sale online. The official markdown starts next week but we doubt there will be enough discount Alexas to go around.

Alexander McQueen 40% Off

One might argue that Alexander McQueen has never had such a successful season. First Kate Middleton wore an Alexander McQueen dress designed by Sarah Burton. Then the Metropolitan Museum's Savage Beauty McQueen exhibition was the biggest opening ever for the museum with over 150,000 visitors through the month of May.

Fortunately, the house's fashion has been a big hit too. What's even better is that the boutique has started their spring sale and all seasonal merchandise is discounted 40%. Inventory is running low quickly, so we suggest hopping downtown asap. An iconic knuckle box clutch is now $1539, skull ballerina flats are available in limited sizes for $329, a skull ring is $144 and skull mini dress is $839.

If you're having problems finding your size, you can also try the Vegas boutique, which tends to have more sale stock than NY. In addition, most department stores have reduced McQueen merchandise to 30% off. Even Zappos has a wide range of sale McQueen.

A Shoe-Addicts’ Guide to Spring Sales

By ManhattanMataHari

All of our major department stores--Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Barney’s--have started their semi-annual shoe sales. This presents savvy shoppers with the inevitable dilemma of where to go for the best deals on that pair of heels we have been pining over all season long. We’ve done all the legwork and formulated our first Shoe Addicts’ Shoppers Guide:

We would suggest starting any shoe shopping at Barney’s because their discount is at the most 40% off. Stock is going fast and quickly disappearing. Fan of Lanvin, Proenza Schouler, Fendi, Alaia and Jil Sander will also find the best selection at this Madison Avenue department store.

A shoe source tells us that Louboutin and Chanel shoes will be going on sale at 40% off on June 15th, but that presale orders can be placed this week. Eventually, Barney’s shoe discounts do go to 50% to 60% off, but sizes and styles may be limited. We suggest keeping a watch on, which sometimes has an even better selection than the flagship store.
Jennifer: 212-833-2141

Saks Fifth Avenue
The next obvious stop has to be Saks Fifth Avenue, where the designer shoe department is so big that it has its own zip code. As of now, the selection is still fantastic but the discount is just 30% off.

We especially appreciate Saks' wide selection of on-trend shoes. We found Yves Saint Laurent Tribtoo 105 pumps available in “Buffalo Iridescent” (a brown leather) and metallic gold and bronze for $557, as well as in a nude Python version for $906. There were also Brian Atwood Maniac pumps available in patent leather, although the color options are only lime green and bright orange.

Louboutin and Chanel will be included in the sale within a few weeks, and Presale will begin on June 17th at a 30% discount. The next markdown in Saks’ shoe department is usually 50% at the end of the month and then drops even lower during clearance season.
Francisco: 212-940-7241

Bergdorf Goodman
This year the Bergdorf Goodman shoe sale is so massive that sales racks have taken over almost the entire department. If you are looking for Roger Vivier, Alexander McQueen, Dior, or Givenchy, this is the best store for your shopping excursion.

One issue we have with Bergdorf is the size of the shoe department, which seems evens smaller when it’s taken over by grabby and pushy shoppers bargain shoppers. The discount is currently 30% off but will increase to 40% in few weeks. Chanel and Christian Louboutin, will be added to the markdown on June 15th but the discount will be just 30%.

While not a department store, Jeffrey does have quite an impressive shoe department. The discount is currently 30% off. Louboutin and Chanel are excluded from the sale but that may change in a few weeks.

If you are looking for real deals, why not wait until the end of summer when Jeffery begins their wonderful clearance sale. In the past, we've snagged Chloé's leather ballerina flats for 70% off.
Michelle: 212-206-1272

If you are looking for a specific item and already know sizing, it is good to note that Nordstrom has marked down designer shoes 40%. We are told that Chanel and Louboutin will be added to the sale on June 15th.

If you like avoiding the sales crowds and don’t mind paying extra for shipping, this may be a good alternative. Not all Nordstrom stores carry very high end designers. Locally, you can contact the Paramus store, but if you are feeling a bit more adventerous, try searching outside the NY-metro area by calling Boston, MA (listed below), Scottsdale, AZ or Houston, TX.

Upgrading Your Heels Louboutin Red

We all know about the fake Internet Louboutins and the Chinatown black market. We also heard about red stickers being used to color your soles red. Well, we found an even more interesting bag of tricks to pimp your shoes.

Our local shoe repair man says that customers are purchasing a variety of shoe brands and requesting he restyle the footwear with the red rubber he uses to resole his customer's Louboutins. The red vinyl, which is purchased in large rolls, was initially intended to help Louboutin owners to repair their shoes fashionably. The big business, however, has been red-soleing less expensive footwear.

The "red sole upgrade" at Andrade costs $22 to $32 , depending on the extent of the work needed. To say the least, this service has been hotter than Ugg reconditioning. We are told that many companies have started producing red rubber for shoe repair but Vibram's red is the closest match to Louboutin Red.

If your local cobbler doesn't stock the favored Vibrum red rubber, you can always turn to eBay. We found an eBay seller charging just $6 for a 5.5" x 4" piece of red rubber. The eBay ad reads, "Protect your investment!!! Perfectly desing to fit your shoe, so your COBBLER will cut and shape these rubber soles to the exact size needed. Great for weather prooffing...With this soles nobody will notice any sign that your shoe was repaired."

In other words, nobody will notice you've pimped your shoes. For the record, Payless is around the block from Andrade Shoe Repair. So who is in for an upgrade?

Lindsay Lohan's Famous Dress $200

By ManhattanMataHari

Many of us may know designer Kimberly Ovitz for her infamous white knit “Glavis” dress worn by Lindsay Lohan to her very public court date. The infamous dress was $575 and was completely sold out the following day.

Forget about the five finger discount, it's obviously way too much trouble especially when you can get the same dress on sale. This week, Kimberly's designs are available to the public at her New York showroom. The sale will include ready-to-wear from the current spring and summer collection as well as past collections. Prices will be up to 75% off.

The legendary “Glavis” dress will be available for just $200 and a white sleeveless version is just $100. Quantities of both these items are extremely limited, so we suggest you get to the sale early. Shoppers can also expect to find the “Hankock” dress that was featured in Marie Claire and the “Wesley” dress that was recently worn by Khloe Kardashian for $200. Most of the dresses included in the sale range from $100 to $200 and separates go for as low as $25.

To sweeten the deal the designer will be donating a portion of the proceeds to the ASPCA.

Markdown Roundup Soho

By ManhattanMataHari

After reporting on our favorite Madison Avenue markdowns we headed to Soho to which downtown designers were wooing customers with discounts. After surviving the disent below Houston Street, we found some great items already at attractive prices. Here's the full rundown:

Alexander Wang
Discuonts are coming but not for a few weeks. This is the first season that the designer has his own boutique but if his past online discounts are any indication the first markdown should be 30%. A few weeks later that should by a 50% cut.

Catherine Malandrino
If you missed their sample sale (or just prefer a more relaxed shopping experience) you can save 40% on a variety of items on the large center rack . Keep an eye out for their leather jackets which have been marked down to about $400.

Derek Lam
The Derek Lam boutique will be taking reductions of 40% off their resort, spring, and summer collections. Remember, the designer opened a Madison Avenue boutique. So our uptown girls don't even need to switch out of their heels to get Derick's Lam's seeth dresses.

IF has a number of hard-to-find international designers and high-end mainstays like Dries Van Noten, Ann Demeulemeester, Comme de Garcons and Rick Owens. While their markdowns are only 35%, this will likely go up to 50% next month and then up to 75% off during the second week of August during their much anticipated basement sale.

Jil Sander
Nearly everything on the showroom floor from their spring collection will be marked down 40% starting June 3. The discount will include ready-to-wear and accessories. Our favorite pick is the curved duffle bag in summer white ostrich leather, which originally retailed for $3645.

Milan Luxury
Strolling past this boutique we immediately noticed their marked down Missoni Home items on display. The savings are about 50%. We found beach towels marked to $149, signature design bath robes for $255 and the mini children's versins are $170. A few Missoni rugs are also available ranging in price from $1722 to $5541, originally $2049 to $9135. The real deals are on their ottomans for $250 as well as colorful throw pillows for $89 to $129. They also had some lovely gold and silver metallic signature tablecloths, but at $799 the price is still a bit steep.

Nannette Lepore
This designer’s flirty frocks and separates have been marked down 40% at the back of the store. Don’t let the rack’s “one of each” style fool you, there are more sales sizes available iin the back. Fun print swimsuits are included in the markdowns. Since their bikinis are sold as separates (about $75 each), it's almost like a BOGO!

Runway Couture
For truly one of a kind designs, Runway offers made to measure ready-to-wear and same day on-site alterations. They currently have their leatherwear marked down 50%. Discounted prices range from $250 for a basic short jackets a to $1450 for a long glazed snakeskin embossed lambskin number.
Lynn 212-925-9817

Vivienne Tam
Ready-to-wear from Vivienne's spring 2010 collection is currently marked down 50%. Considering the clothing is from last summer, we were surprised the the discount wasn't more. Nontheless we found a number of fashionable summer dresses that originally retailed for around $495. This years spring collection is only 30% off, so we suggest sticking to the 2010 rack to get the best prices.
