Gucci Sale Arrives Fashionably Late

We know you've been waiting patiently ( or impatiently) for the Gucci online sale-- and it is on! The presale like is right this way GUCCI PRESALE GUCCI PRESALE GUCCI PRESALE. The seasonal markdown officially goes public June 7th but with our little secret link you can start shopping right now.

Once you check into the site you won't want to miss the wide assortment of shoes and bags discounted 30% to 40% off. Clothing is 50% off. What's best about Gucci's summer 2013 collection is that it will transition wonderfully into Fall. Second markdown usually takes place in July and clothing may get discounted up to 70% off while shoes and bags can go as high as 50% off.

Shopping the Meatpacking Markdowns

By ManhattanMataHari

Many of the downtown -- Meatpacking-- boutiques just started markdowns. We went to check out what is available and what discounts are still coming.

We always start our downtown shopping trip with a stop at Jeffery. Passing through the left side of the shoe area are the freshly marked down shoes. We spotted some $695 Nicholas Kirkwood suede smoking slippers for $487, $1295 Charlotte Olympia crystal-embellished platform heels for $907, and $675 Balenciaga wedges for $473. You will also find Proenza Schouler sandals, Prada pumps and Miu Miu suede peep toes all 30% off retail. Don’t expect to find the Louboutin, Chanel or Alaia heels on markdown for another two weeks. Also not on sale: Saint Laurent shoes, and we were also informed the Tributes are going to be discontinued and may not go on sale. On the ready-to-wear sales racks you also won’t find any Chanel or Alaia yet, but there are some nice dresses 30% off retail by Erdem, Proenza, JW Anderson, and Marni. Our favorite picks were a $1450 Missoni signature print dress for $1015 and Thakoon print dresses. There are also some nice fall-ready Altuzarra separates.
Matthew (Shoes) & Kendra (RTW): (212) 206-1272

Alexander McQueen
There are lots of majorly coveted Alexander McQueen accessories and ready-to-wear marked down 30% to 40%. There are two display cases replete with their signature skull clutches for a 30% cut, while day bags are discounted 40%. Scarves and flat shoes are also 30% off, with some cute $645 skull thongs for $464. High heels have a better reduction at 40%. While they seem to have very few small and larger sizes, the store is well stocked in most styles in sizes 37 through 38.5. There is also larger selection of sale racks of ready-to-wear marked down 40%.
Max: (212) 645-1797

Catherine Malandrino
While there is no presale, this weekend on Saturday they will be marking down yellow label spring designs in lots of bright colors and flowy fabrics 40% off retail. There are lots of sizes in the back.  There are  none of the black label items like the standout laser cut leather dresses included in this markdown.
Jose: (212) 929-8710

Jay Godfrey
Get Hamptons ready with fun printed silk dresses for 30% to 40% off. Their maxi dresses should be a staple in every summer wardrobe; our favorite print version was $266 from $380.
Siguel: (212) 706-8342

Marni Edition
Marni’s casual offshoot Edition label is priced about 25% less than the collection label and is now marked down 30%. Most of the women’s clothing is included in the sale. We couldn’t help but notice the great summer abstract prints and a fab $2420 short cream leather trench for $1694.
Kenny: (646) 442-6015

Nicholas Kirkwood
If you’re looking for an utterly unique pair of heels, head to the designer’s salon for the most eccentric and avant-garde styles the department store buyers tend to avoid. Presale will begin after the first week in June and will start with a 30% cut.
Marell: (646) 559-5239

Ports 1961

Ports 1961
Get haute Canadian couture at a 40% discount on lots of great ready-to-wear in their pre-spring collection. Many of the black and yellow palette items will transition nicely into fall, especially their black leather separates. There are also lots of brightly hued silk dresses and separates that are perfect for a chic summer look. Our favorite $1995 bright silk crepe dress is now $1197, and there are plenty of sizes out back.
Maggie: (917) 475-1022

Rebecca Taylor
Head to the back of the store to find the sales racks where flirty summery dresses and separates are now 30% to 70% off. We fell for a pair of $225 pleated silk shorts in a brilliant tangerine reduced to $135 and a $225 white silk peplum top for just $90. If you are looking for summer whites, you will find them here like an elegant $295 sheath dress down to $177. There is also a rack of black clothing in more classic styles as well. We suggest stopping by soon since all sizes are out.

Nordstrom Half-Yearly Sale

Nordstrom may not reside on Madison Avenue and not even in Manhattan but that won't be the case for long. The national department store, which is coming to NY in just a few short years, is renowned for their wonderful customer service but we know them better for their wonderful markdowns. Right now designer clearance is priced up to 40% off retail. This includes bags, shoes and accessories but not Chanel and Louboutin-- yet!

We clickety clicked over to Nordstrom to see what's available online as part of their big markdown. We love these Jimmy Choo Willow ballerina flats ($330 from $550) because they are a great transition piece into summer and again into fall. At Saks, the same shoes are $385.

There is no shortage of Herve Leger dresses marked 40% off but we prefer Yigal Azrouël's body con dresses if you're looking for form fitting with more urban style. We've also been eyeing this Mary Katrantzou print dress ($695 from $1160) since the beginning of the season and Nordstrom currently has the best price. Net-A-Porter has the dress marked $731.

Although these items were all less expensive at Nordstrom you still have to shop around because the pendulum tends to swing in all directions. We'll be sure to watch which way it swings all season long.

No DVF Sample Sale this Season

The Diane von Furstenberg sample sale is normally a favorite among sale shoppers but this season it seems as if it just ain't happening. That means no $50 sample sale rack, no $150 dresses and no additional markdowns. Organizers of the sale say that a date was never set and a press representative for DVF told us that there is nothing in the planning stages.

Those of you have stashed away for the DVF sale should not fret Racked NY has a list of almost 30 sales for the month of June. Just remember,  not sample sales offer great deals. Below is a short list of upcoming sales that we would consider worthy of our time and (some) money.

Saturday, June 1
By appointment:
Ace Hotel 38 West 39th Street (b/w 5th & 6th Ave)
Commentary: Expect to find the obvious dress that's $4800 reduced to $1200 but there is also usually a selection of clothing in those with a more temperate budget. Last season we found clothing was priced between $200 and $500, shoes ranged from $150 to $350 and bags were about $200ish.

Helmut Lang
Sunday, June 2 through Wednesday, June 5
Sun 10am— 6pm, Mon 11am—8pm, Tues—Wed 11am—7pm
Clothingline, 261 W. 36th St between 7th & 8th Aves, 2nd fl
Commentary: Prices are marked up to 60% off, which isn't necessarily epic. The biggest draw is always the leather jackets, which were priced at $475 from about $1000. Basic tops and dresses, which are always a great staple were priced at $95. Tees were $55, but we prefer the Gap for $10. Helmut Lang fans could also check out Net-a-Porter, where a great variety of merchandise is discounted 50%.

La Perla
Sunday, June 9 through Thursday, June 13
Sun 1pm—5pm, Mon—Thurs 11am—7pm
225 Fifth Avenue between 26th & 27th St
Commentary: The sale will include nightwear, swimwear and clothing that will be discounted up to 80% off. At the last sale La Perla & Black Label collections were priced $80 for bras, $50 for undies, $110 for babydolls and $130 for gowns and silk robes. One piece bathing suits were $110 and bikini's were 90%.

Celine Markdown 40% Off

Presale at Celine boutiques will start this Thursday and the sale will officially go public on June 4. The markdown will be 40% on clothing and select shoes. The brand's popular bags and leather goods are usually not included in any discount or sale promotion.

Celine normally represents an ideal where women don't make fashion errors. This collection had many customers scratching their heads as it was filled with questionable fashion statements. We don't see this collection flying off the racks even at a 50% cut. You can pretty much bet that the sale will include those furry stilettos that come in blue, red, lilac and yellow. And those Phoebe Philo fur lined versions of Birkenstocks are more fitting for the eccentric billionaire.

Tom Ford Pre-Sale

The presale at Tom Ford started today. Men's and women's clothing, shoes and accessories are now 50% off. The sale officially opens to the public Tuesday but it's never too early to get the ultimate in hot-sexy-luxury for half-off.

One of the helpful sales associates hooked us up with a virtual catalogue of the bags on sale. You can click here to start browsing. They stock lists just came in so it may take a bit if time until a sales associates can add photos of clothing and shoes that are included in the markdown.

Rachel: 212-359-0300

Roger Vivier Boutique Sale

Roger Vivier will start their private sale on Wednesday, May 29th. Discounts will range from 30% to 40% off but we suggest that you shop early because the best styles and popular sizes tend to run out very quickly. The sale will fun for 10 days, ending June 7th.

This private sale was historically only open to prior shoppers of Vivier but rules have changed and the discount will be extended to anyone with enough knowledge to ask about the markdown. For many seasons we have been drawn to the little girl shoes, which sometimes even hit 50%. (If only those little feet didn't grow so quickly!) For full sized feet there is usually a very good selection of classic buckle shoes, however sometimes the basic black and other staples are excluded.

Get Clicking: Net-a-Porter Summer Sale

Online shoppers get clicking! We hear that Net-a-Porter's summer sale will begin Tuesday, May 28th. First markdown on NaP usually ranges from 30% to 50% off.

We suggest that you start browsing this weekend and check out quickly on Tuesday because NaP's sale merchandise usually flies off the virtual shelves. Last year, we found a dozen or so Christian Louboutin shoes and YSL totem wedges for 50% off.

Usually the discount on bags isn't as impressive as the shoes or clothing. This year we have our eyes on several Chalayan pieces along with this Prabal Gurung girly dress. As far as we're concerned this Pierre Hardy bag is a must have! We are just waiting to see if the prices here are better than Barneys.

Sale goes live Tuesday. Let us know what you think!

Madison Pre-Sale Part Deux

By ManhattanMataHari

Get together your wishlist for the summer because markdowns on Madison are burning up. Today we continue dishing out markdown intelligence from some of our favorite Madison Avenue stores. Your best bet for scoring highly covetable accessories and ready-to-wear are to pre-sale with a sales associate before the masses come out for the start of the boutique sales and scoop up all the goodies. Enjoy!

Derek Lam
Starting next week you can presale the designer’s Spring/Summer Collection. There are many styles which can carryover well into fall, and their 40% initial cut will give you the best selection. They will take additional cuts up to 60% by the end of the sale but don’t expect to find many sizes and styles by then.
Rob 212-493-4454

Last Friday marked the start of their seasonal sale where clothing is 20% to 50% off retail. There are still lots of sizes left but since they do a 1,2,3 system we suggest shopping early. Small sizes tend to sell out fast.
Arienne 212-288-2550

The Italian label’s sale begins in June, but presale starts at the end of this month. Expect to find the spring/summer collection marked down 30%. While their discounts top out around 50% by the end of the sale, last season we found most of the clothing and accessories to be gone by then.
Fernando 212-879-6100

Proenza Schouler
Looking for a haute PS1 satchel? We can't promise to find discounts on the classics, but our intel suggests some of the double leather two-tone versions may be available during their seasonal markdown. Other bags, accessories and clothing will be cut by 30%. The boutique is still going through their list to determine what to mark down for their sale starting on the 30th, but we suggest you drop by early to presale a PS1.
Lisa: 212-585-3200

Ralph Lauren Collection
Ralph Lauren Collection blue label is currently 30% to 50% off retail with an additional 25% off for pre-spring. Unfortunately, their blue label swimwear is not included in the markdown. The exclusive black label collection sale will begin on May 29th, with summer styles marked down 40%.
Jessie 212-606-2100

Reed Krakoff
Presale has started at Reed Krakoff.  Clothing and shoes are 40% off retail while seasonal colored handbags are at a 30% discount. There are not a lot of exotics in the markdown and the ones that are included are still quite pricey. A second cut will be taken in July. Keep your fingers crossed that those wild-things are still around then.
Jarvis 212-988-0560

This past Friday nearly all the merchandise in the store went on sale for a generous 30% to 50% cut. Shoes, accessories and clothing are all included. Our favorite piece from the collection is a tie-dyed dripped black and white dress.
Mandy 212-772-8500

Yigal Azrouel
If you missed their amazing sample sale you will get a chance to shop their body-con designs during their private sale, which will take place the first week of June. Yigal's spring/summer collection forwill be 30% off with the manager’s approval. We hear that some popular runway pieces are already limited in some sizes.

Madison Avenue Privately on Sale: Intel from Chanel to Valentino

Temperatures are rising and so are markdown. Today we collected markdown intelligence from some of our favorite Madison Avenue stores. As you can expect, we are just calling this our seasonal amuse bouche. Enjoy!

Chanel sales always take place during the second week of June. Prices on clothing, shoes and accessories will be discounted 40%. Leather bags are almost never marked down, but keep your eyes open for seasonal styles, which are occasionally discounted.
Amy: 212-535-5505

Presale starts today and customers can shop the markdown by appointment and take their selections home on Thursday. The markdown is 40% on ready-to-wear and shoes and select bags are 30%. The sale goes public after Memorial Day.
Tara: 212-717-8220

Dolce & Gabbana
Presale will start on May 23 on Madison and in the new super Fifth Avenue location. We expect that the boutique's merchandise will be discounted 40%. Usually shoes and handbags follow the same discount.
Balinda: 212-249-4100

Giuseppe Zanotti
The sale officially starts Friday but you can make an appointment to start shopping the discounts now. Most summer styles are 30% off. There are lots of similar styles discounted at DSW. Just take note that the retail prices on their site are inflated, so the actually discount might be less than it seems.
George: 212-650-0455

The presale has not yet officially started but if you work with a sales person you can likely have them set your wish list aside. We expect that the company will begin their private presale this week and will send an update as soon as it occurs. Gucci's first markdown is usually 50% on clothing and shoes and 30% off handbags.

The Private Sale is currently under way and spring and summer merchandise has been marked down 40%. Shoes, including some ballerina flats and sneakers are 30% off. Accessories and handbags are 30% off too. We hear there is a great variety of sizes and styles. The sale officially opens to the public on Friday, so it would be best to shop before the crowds.
Hector: 646-439-0381

The sale starts VERY soon, right after Memorial Day. It hasn't officially begun BUT the main collection is (oops, will be) 40% off and the Addition Collection and Resort are 30%.
Dana: 212-257-6907

The Missoni isn't a big player in the presale/private sale game. They just go on sale. Right now the discount ranges from 40% to 50% on clothing, shoes and handbags. No scarves or swimwear are included in the markdown. Additional discounts are taken in June.
Connie 212-517-9339

Presale usually begins right about now with the sale officially starting the first week of June. Last year, however, Prada cut out their presales and became a lot less generous with their markdowns. Last season the brand started with a 50% cut on clothing and shoes and 40% off bags. We are hoping that the numbers will be the same this season.
Betty: 212-327-4200

The Valentino boutique has started their presale. The discount on shoes, handbags and clothing is 40% off. Most of the Rockstud collection is not included in the markdown but you can use the seasonal discount towards a host of other items. Online shoppers can expect an code to access the sale shortly. For now you can shop the website for deals on Valentino RED.

Pre-Sale Barney's, Bergdorf & Saks

Memorial Day is traditionally known as the first day of the summer season but it's also the start of sale season. As always, we will be starting our markdown roundups. Department stores usually kick-off the retail sale season with boutiques following closely behind. It's generally taboo for a brand-owned store to begin a sale before the department stores. After all, a department store has to buy their inventory for a wholesale markup while a brand-owned boutique keeps the extra profit from a straight-to-retail model.

This week, is a big week for presales. Presale season akin to the "quiet period" before a company goes public. You can't actually buy the merchandise but you can have your broker, oh sorry-- sales person, hold your preferred items until the sale officially begins. Most stores take your credit card information and charge your account when the items ship or you pick them up.

In all instances, Chanel and Louboutin will not be marked down at any department store or boutique until the beginning of June. Nonetheless, it's never too early to plot your purchases and share your acquisition wishes with a good sales person. Second markdown usually begins at the end of June and discounts usually range from 50% to 70% off.

For now, we have a roundup of first markdowns at our favorite department stores:

Pre-sale at Barneys starts Tuesday. Most designer collections and shoes will be discounted 35% off. The official sale starts May 28th. We are happy that the store was a bit restrained with the uber-print trend. We suggest you do the same. Most designers won't be making such bold statements next season.
Contact: Kyri 212-833-2088

Bergdorf Goodman
Wednesday will be the first day of pre-sale at Bergdorf. The discount is 30% off shoes and 40% off clothing. Purchases will be shipped or available in the store on Sunday, May 26. We are fully committed to purchasing an Alaia dress this summer but we still might have to wait until the next markdown.
Contact: Allison: 212-872-8732

Saks Fifth Avenue
Pre-sale orders will begin Wednesday and merchandise will be available to be picked up or shipped after the holiday weekend. Shoes will start at a 30% discount while clothing will be discounted 40%. Most designer merchandise is included. We always appreciate the Vionnet collation at Saks, although we believe it could be a bit larger.

Lisa Perry Groovy Sample Sale

Lisa Perry is hosting a sample sale in the back of her Madison Avenue boutique where her mod and pop designs are between 70% and 90% off. The sale started yesterday and you can be sure that these great looking pieces not hang around for long.

With discounts so high we couldn't resist checking out the sale ourselves and we are so happy that we did. The back of the store is filled with mostly spring and summer samples with a scattering of heavier wool pieces. Sample size four and six dresses, range from $200 to $300 and most skirts and tops are $200. A black long sleeved wool dress with turquoise circles is $300 as is a gray, black and chartreuse dress. A black and white vinyl and wool raincoat is $200 and a red and blue cotton sleeveless shift with circle pockets is $200.

In addition to the four racks of samples there are two racks of overstock, which contain items in larger size runs that are priced about 70% off. For example, we found purple leather bomber jacket for $418 from $1395.

Our favorite section is always the little girl's dresses. Kid's samples are $50 and the open stock is under $70. The children's sample size is a 4/5 but there are some summer sleeveless dresses and size two dresses in larger size runs. Our favorite items are a baby black dress with silver circle pockets for $50 and a black shift with multi colored circles for $500 too.

Before heading out don't miss the  home accessories table at the far right of the room. We couldn't resist the vinyl cupcake pillowcases priced at $10 from $125 and a logo messenger bag for $30. The accessories table also included the famous gumball necklace and pear change purses for $5. Under the accessories table there is an assortment of designer bedding where a queen set with shams was priced at $225.

You can check out more pictures from our groovy shopping trip, right this way.

Christian Louboutin Sample Sale Hauls

The Christian Louboutin sample sale has been running since Monday and insiders, press and friends and family have been shopping away in the designer's showroom. Those who didn't receive invites or don't have three hours to spend waiting in line can only imagine what's on the other side of those elevator doors.

Good thing for social media because you don't have to imagine. Today we curated a showcase of shoppers' hauls. It's virtual eye candy. Enjoy!

Silver and Gold at the Buccellati Sale

By ManhattanMataHari

If are in need of some ultra luxurious giftware or jewelry that will impress even the most refined taste, the Buccellati sample sale should be on your radar. The famed Italian jewelry designer makes approximately 3,000 pieces of jewelry per year, 500 or so of which are one-of-a-kind pieces. Their exclusivity and quality workmanship contributes to their hefty retail prices.

Buccellati rarely goes on sale and holds its value extremely well; we couldn’t resist the opportunity to scoop up sterling tablewear, hollowware, flatware and gifts for around a 50% cut. Inside the sale we found lovely sterling candlesticks mostly priced between $6,000 and $12,000. The most impressive piece, however, was a huge sterling serving tray discounted just over 50% to $20,000 from $44,200. A large silver ice bucket is now $4,200 from $9,000. The sale also includes some more wallet-friendly gift ideas. Small grape dishes are on sale for $425 from $850.

If you're interested in gifts for yourself you will be happy to find jewelry discounted about 40% off retail. Their impressive selection of signature flower blossom necklaces in silver are priced from $575 to around $1000. Most of the 14K yellow gold collection and watches are still pricey, ranging from $15,000 to $80,000. Who can honestly pass up a yellow gold flower blossom necklace at the relative bargain price of $21,000 from $35,000?

The sale also includes a good selection of brooches and a small selection of rings, earrings and bracelets. As you can see, Buccellati is big pucks but these items really hold their value when you're making purchases at these sort of discounts.

Inside the Louboutin Sample Sale

Louboutin may have posted a notice on the door of their office building stating that there is no sale but the story upstairs reads: Sale Sale Sale! The invite-only sample sale started today by appointment. Most of the invitees include a close clique of fashion journalists and bloggers with a sprinkle of celebrity.

Our spies reported from the inside and say that the selection is much better than prior seasons. There are lots of classic style shoes as opposed to the "cray-cray" versions that usually dominate the sale. Also take note that everyone we spoke to came out with some sort of animal print and noted the great array of flats. For the first time, there is also a scattering of men's shoes and a section of Strass sparklers. From the limited numbers we can assume that they are true samples. Prices range from $250 to $500.

If you're considering door-busting this sale, we suggest that you use your best technique starting Wednesday. The invite says that the three day sale is for press but it's really friends and family. (All the press are scheduled to shop Monday and Tuesday.) Be forewarned there are also three layers of clip-boards: one in the lobby, another at the elevator and a third in the showroom. Also, take note the +1 has been eliminated. So, be sure to have a good story and prey for good weather. We have a feeling the line will be very, very long.

Stay tuned we will be posting more intel and photos as the week progresses!

Buccellatti Sample Sale

Mari Buccellati wasn't known for giving discounts to customers but modern times call for drastic markdowns. This week Soiffer Haskin will be hosting a Buccellati sale that will include gift items, holloware, tableware, flatware. and one-of-a-kind items. The sale starts Tuesday and runs through Thursday.

We attended the Buccellati sale two years ago when it was hosted in the boutique. Handcrafted fine jewels and watches were all 40% off retail and silver servingware and home accents were 50% off. The pricing varied based upon the metal, but the majority of the sale jewelry was 18K yellow or white gold. Buccellati's signature flower blossom necklace in normally $1200 but was significantly more affordable after the 40% markdown. A variety of silver trays started at $10,995. You can click here for more details from the last sale.

Amazing Comme des Garçon Sample Sale

The Comme des Garcon archival sample sale starts Friday and experts say this is a sale you won't want to miss. Racked previewed the sale today and can't say enough good things about the inventory and prices.

The sale includes a plethora of the company's brands including Comme des Garçons, Junya Watanabe for CdG, eYE, CdG Black, and Tao and more. Racked's keen eye spotted several pieces that are currently on display at the Chaos to Couture exhibit at the Met. These museum quality pieces are $700 but it doesn't take a Decades expert to tell you they are worth every penny.

Shoppers will find a variety of scarves, bags, and hats, as well as CdG dolls and snow globes. Prices generally range from 50% to 70% off depending on the collection. Prices will likely be reduced as the final day approaches. But don't wait too long, we have a feeling that this may be a contender for the year's best sample sale.

Inside Manolo's Sample Sale

Reader update: You should let everyone know that they stopped letting in people by 9:30 am stating that the sale is closed due to overcrowding. I have never seen anything like this before.

Today the Manolo Blahnik sample sale kicked off without a hitch. The sale was officially open to big foot press and insiders, and well, of course. Thursday morning everyone is welcome to come and shop and, of course, we have your game plan.

Normally, we are not big fans of waiting in lines or waking up with those in a European timezone but this sample sale may be worth the aggravation. (It might even be fun if you plan with a friend.) Doors officially open at 9am but those looking for first crack will start cueing up at about 6am or earlier. Shoppers will each get a ticked with a letter and then the wait begins. The best part is that once you get your ticket you can leave and come back.

Most of the best inventory is from this past winter's collection but there are lots of sandals and summery styles from prior years. Prices start at $96 for styles that are plain, suede, leather or satin. Add some ornamentation and you'll pay $125. Styles with large large rhinestones are $150. Prices are even great when you get into the exotics. Snake skins are $125, ostrich is $250 and you can go crazy with a alligator pair and that will still only cost you $300 from a retail price of $4300. (That's less than the tax would cost.)

Boots cost a bit more but are priced equally as attractive. Shoe booties, styles below the ankle are $200 and those above the ankle are $250. Styles from mid-calf to the knee are priced at $300 and OTKs $400. Prices on boots top out at $500 for OTK styles in astrakhan, sequins or shearling.

Don't count on finding classic BBs. We found a few styles of the famous shoe but they were either in patterned in plaid or lace. We found these bright pink chaos sandals that are currently $695 at Saks. We also saw this cream and white style from this past winter. There is an overwhelming assortment of satin styles in addition to many statement pieces.

Even though $96 Manolos are quite a rush, we prefer the boutique's end of season sale. In August shoppers can score shoes at 75% off and not have to sift through plastic bags and search for missing mates. Did we mention that there is never a wait at the boutique!

Jimmy Choo: How to Get the Best Deals

By ManhattanMataHari

If you have any time tomorrow, be sure to head to the Jimmy Choo sample sale where you will earn even better discounts than those offered at the sale today. Those who attended the Jimmy Choo event early this morning we plagued by a line that lasted several hours. We postponed attending the sale until late afternoon to and avoided all lines and were greeted by a very pleasant shopping experience.

To begin, there is a huge assortment of inventory from which to choose. Tables are arranged by size from 35 to 42.5, with 38 and 38.5 having the least selection. We were delighted to find lots of wedges, pumps, peep toes and evening strappy sandals, with glitter, crystals, feathers, exotic skins and metallic and patent leathers. Heels with red marker through the label are worn or damaged and just $90. The inventory is dominated by full priced overstock, which is available for $250.

Flats and boots are also on the tables, but are less plentiful. Boots will run you $375, while damaged boots are $275. Be sure to check your shoes carefully since some are gently worn pairs and styles with slight color tone mismatches.

The sale also includes lots of handbags: hobos, pochettes, clutches, totes and a significant amount of shoulder bags. Small handbags are $250, medium sizes and clutches $350 and large bags were $450. We found some fun glitter clutches that especially caught our attention. There are also lots of exotic leathers as well, which are $200 on top of the base price. Lots of small leather goods like iPad cases, wallets, and pouches are $75, while smaller change purses and key chains are $25. There are tons of belts, especially wider styles, which are $50. While we were shopping the received more scarves and the price was dropped to $50 from $75.

We are told that further discounts will be taken tomorrow. Insiders say that the price cuts will range from 25% to 50% off the current sale prices. Additionally, they will be receiving more stock from outlet stores. We bet than in the hour just before the sale ends there will be ever further reductions. That’s even more reason to employ patience.

The Met Gala Inspires Punk

This year's Met Gala took an unexpected turn highlighting the history of Punk: Chaos to Couture. As the gala becomes increasingly like a circus so do the commercial opporunities. This year, the online boutique Moda Operandi live streamed the red carpet arrivals in addition to hosting a curated sale of "punk" clothing and accessories.

Couture punk has always been a bit of an oxymoron but we thought it would be fun to identify great looking punk for less than Moda Operandi's museum prices. After all, our modus operandi has always been to find the best for less:

Moda Operandi Zana Bayne Harness ($275)

Online variety shop ShopJeen hosts an entire section of harnesses. Our favorite is the Vaulter Cage Bustier for ($106) but if you're looking for wearability opt for the  Trinity Swim Suit ($157).

Moda Operandi Genevieve Safety Pin Earrings ($700)

For the most part, costume jewelry is just costume jewelry. It's hard to understand the difference between $700 of junk and $26 of junk. Both are good for a cheap thrill but one is actually cheap. These Rachel Roy safety pin earrings at Macy's fit the bill and only cost $26. We also like these spike earrings work into the theme at just $24. Isn't part of the punk ideal living for cheap thrills?

Ashish Sequin Union Jack Tank ($735)

If you're looking for casual way to show off a sequin Union Jack, we suggest this cropped tee that's reduced to just $9. Alternativly, you can opt for this full sequin tank but then other's could mistaken you for a pole dancer in place of punk rocker.

Rebecca Taylor Private Online Sale

Memorial Day isn't too far and getting wardrobe ready for long summer weekends should not be done on a moment's notice. Rebecca Taylor is currently hosting a private sale on her website. The sale contains sophisticated weekend looks and many are just about $100. The sale runs through March 9th.

You can use this link to access the Rebecca Taylor site but you will need to fill out a long form, which requires a laundry list of personal information, to access the private sale. Once inside, you'll find this white strapless dress for $88 from almost $300, a versitile pencile skirt with zippers for $105 from $350 and a very Kate Middleton lace shift for $195 from $325.

Nancy Gonzalez Sale with Early Access

Just in time for Mother's Day, Nancy Gonzalez is hosting her sample sale where her famous exotic skin bags will be significantly reduced. The sale doesn't open to the public until Monday, May 6 but Madison Avenue Spy readers have been invited a day early to shop the Sunday VIP pre-sale.

Shoppers can attend the pre-sale by giving a $36 donation (or more), which will go to New York Cancer Center. All contributions are matched by Shelly & Renee. Please email us here if you would like to attend. Space is limited. There will be a guest list at the door on Sunday but the remaining dates are open to the general public sans a donation.

This season, we hear that the sale will include more stock than ever, which is the main reason for the venue change. (This popular sale is historically hosted at the Flatotel.) You can see pricing from the last sale right here.

The public days of this sale are always very popular and can be quite chaotic. We suggest that serious Nancy Gonzalez shoppers should take advantage of this pre-shopping opportunity. With prices like these you can get a bag for mom and yourself and still have money for lunch.

Spring Shoe Sale at Bloomingdales

By ManhattanMataHari

If you’re in need of some spring and summer updates for your shoe closet, Bloomingdales has freshly marked down some of their contemporary and designer shoes 25% to 30%. On the second floor, there are plenty of Tory Burch sandals, Frye boots, and Coach wedges to look forward to. We were especially disappointed Bloomie’s newest addition and Kate Middleton’s favorite, L.K. Bennett, are excluded from the sale. However, head upstairs to the high end designer shoe salon and you will not be disappointed.

While we were told that the high-end designers like Prada, Chanel, Dior, Miu Miu and Fendi were excluded from the sale, there are certain styles we found on the sales racks. Prada Fume platform maryjanes are now $712 from $950, while Fendi red patent pointy pumps are $513 from $685.

Embellished smoking slippers dominate the racks, with great blue velvet options from Jil Sander for $431 (originally $575) and embroidered Marc Jacobs for $371 (originally $495). Ferragamo fans will find loads of t-strap sandals with signature hardware for $371 from $495. We were most tempted by Stuart Weitzman’s cult favorite “Alex” espadrille wedges, which are now a cool $206 from $365.

Dior addicts will also make out well; we spotted lots of different styles on the sales racks including black patent wedges for $525 (originally $700), patent platform sandals with metallic signature patterned heels for $712 (originally $950) and some fancy glitter peep toe pumps with sequin heels for $607 ($810 originally).

Since the sale just started, there should be plenty of sizes. But we still suggest you stop by 59th street early to beat the weekend shoppers. If you're looking for even more incentive you can save an additional 20% when you purchase two pair of shoes and use the code SHOE online. When shopping in stores you can use the above bar code.

Yigal Azrouel's Amazing Sample Sale

If you were considering going to the Yigal Azrouel we suggest you stop thinking and start moving. Today we headed downtown to preview the sale and were so successful that we canceled our trainer and substituted bag carrying as a full body workout.

For starters, the sale takes over the Yigal's entire retail space on Grand Street. Insiders told us that the sale space expanded because the designer wanted room to release his archive pieces, which he has never done before. To say there is a lot to choose from is an understatement and the prices are even better than the selection.

Open stock prices for Yigal's contemporary line, Cut25 by Yigal Azrouel start at $75 for skirts and $100 for dresses and run up to $300 for leather jackets. The best part is that much of the selection is from this season, which is currently in stores. For example, a non-leather jacket very similar to this awesome motorcycle jacket is at Saks for $895 but is just $175 at the sale. A knit dress is $125 from $375 and this skirt is $75 from $250.

Moving over to the designer's namesake collection, there was a large selection of open stock items with this floral print. Dresses like this great silk print, this knit number and this blue eyelit style that are all $250 from a retail price of about $900 and can be found in a range of sizes. Leather jackets, like this $1800 version , are $500 and a perfectly assembled white leather dress is %500 from a retail price of almost $2500.

If you're on the hunt for the real killer deals then you need to head straight to the back. There are samples and archive items galore and everything is priced to move. Yigal samples are $60 and leather items are $125. Cut25 samples are just $30 and leather items are $100.

Sample racks can be hit or miss but almost every item we found was a hit. We found this classic Yigal tuxedo jacket from resort 2013 ($60). A cropped version like this was also $60. This stretchy print dress, this white and chartreuse number and this sexy body-con style were also all $60. There were also a smattering of leather jackets but blew out faster than a vintage Ducati on the Autobahn.

In addition to all the women's finds there is also a few racks of men's clothing. The guys shopping didn't even seem to notice the mostly nude women trying on clothing in every which corner of the room. Yup, you read correctly, there's no dressing room and a few guys wondering around. On the bright side, we couldn't imagine a more unsexy atmosphere and that's including the completely bare models.

You can see a full range of pictures and price sheets right here. On and on your way out, don't miss the python belts that are just $20!
