Fivestory Mother's Day Trunk Show

Don't know what to buy the woman to whom you owe your life? Take a stroll over to our favorite Madison Avenue boutique-- Fivestory.

The luxury emporium is hosting a pre-Mother's Day shopping event, while launching its home collection and hosting an assortment of designer trunk shows. Designers include, jewelry from Khai Khai, customizable clutches from Edie Parker and treats from Magnifique Macaron. The best pert is that a portion of all proceeds will benefit the KJ Sisterhood.

Please join me, as I'll be there too. I always love to meet like-minded shoppers and we can strategize a plan to shop the Christian Louboutin sample sale.

Norma Kamali Vintage Sale

Norma Kamali is bringing back her famous basement sale. Customers can shop and browse the designer's vintage archives for deep discounts for just three hours, Thursday evening. What's even better is that you don't have to go to the store to shop the sale.

In a time when most designers like to shroud their sales in secrecy, Norma Kamali is letting it all out and allowing customers to virtually shop the sale with a stylist. You can browse the sale selection here and here. After (or while) you're browse, email or to place your order.

After reviewing the stock list, it appears as if the best selection and deals may be the denim items. A denim moto high-lo jacket is priced at $100 from $750 and black and nude mesh Tara gown is $175 from $1100. There are also dozens of vintage parachute items, although they seem a bit pricey.

Take note:  phone  orders and in-store purchases are final sale. For this reason, we always prefer to shop in the store whenever possible. Sample sales can result in questionable purchases even when the shopping conditions are ideal. We would hate to imagine the potential damage that can be made while shopping over the phone.

Coming Soon: Louboutin Sample Sale

The Christian Louboutin sample sale is legend among shoe lovers. It's closed to the public and invitations are as coveted as the China edition Porsche 911. We are not sure where the security is tougher but you can always count on a flurry of excitement when we get word of the Louboutin sample sale.

A source that's close to the company has given us word that the sample sale will begin Monday, May 12th and run all week. Press invitations are scheduled to begin Wednesday, May 14th. Each press invitation no longer includes a guest.

Prices at the "secret" sample sale are highly discounted but generally start at $225 and go up to $550 for boots. Espadrille wedges may be found for $150 but that would be the bottom of the barrel. We often find that the best deals are the handbags but those have gone up in price over the past several sales too. We have also found an increasing selection of men's shoes and sneakers.

For more detailed shopping information you can check out our sale review from last season here. Over here we have lots of pictures from the sample sale last Spring. Ohhh, and don't get thrown off by the decoy sign in the lobby saying that there is no sale. It appears every season and is as authentic as a Rolex on Canal Street.

For the record, this Spy is likely to have her shopping privileges revoked. Nonetheless, we will bring you Louboutin sample sale coverage throughout the sale. Please feel free to email and tweet us info and pictures.

Monday, May 12 through Friday, May 16

Coming Soon: Manolo Blahnik Sample Sale

Once upon a time the Manolo Blahnik sample sale was a no-brainer. There was a great assortment of shoes and the prices were absolutely amazing. As time has gone on, the assortment has become smaller and the crowds have become insane.

One way Manolo & Co. has dealt with the crowds is to reduce public shopping hours customers. This season, the sale officially begins on Wednesday for invitees and press. Shoppers like, you and me, aren't welcome to shop until noon on Thursday. By the time we get in, you can expect that the inventory will be reduced to least desirable shoes in the most extreme of sizes.

The one shimmer of hope is that prices still start at just $100. Personally, we prefer shopping the sales in the boutique. Trying on shoes while sitting on leather banquettes and taking our purchases home in boxes is always worth the extra money. You can read our Manolo Blahnik sample sale survivor's guide here or hop over here to understand the experience of the boutique's final markdown.

Manolo Blahnik Sample Sale
Public shopping: Thursday, May 1
12pm to 4pm

The History of Chanel Bag Prices

Since the beginning of Madison Avenue Spy we have been tracking the prices of Chanel bags. In doing so, we have created a rich archive of pricing history. As Chanel shoppers brace for yet another price increase, we thought we would take a look back at the way things were.

As you can see by clicking on the chart below, the price of a Classic Chanel Jumbo bag will be $6000, as of May 1. That's almost 100% more than it was in 2009. This season, most styles are increasing in price by about 12%. In the past, we've seen even steeper price jumps. Depending on the popularity of a particular style, bags have skyrocketed as much as 30% in a single year.

Click on the image to expand
Chanel generally evaluates prices in November and May. In some years, we've seen upward movement twice in a single year. For example, between 2010 and 2011 there were two price increases. During that year, the cost of many bags vaulted $1000.

In 2009, we proposed that Chanel was attempting to reach a similar price point of the coveted Hermes Birkin bag. Perhaps Chanel is simply staying in step with other luxury brands? After all, the price of a Celine Luggage tote is $3600. We would love to hear your thoughts. Please feel free to share in the comment section below.

4 Friday Friends & Family Sales

We have officially hit the peak of friends and family season. This weekend there are four Madison Avenue brands offering discounts. Yesterday, we covered the Theory sale and today we are adding four more and a Saks Fifth Avenue reminder. See below for more details:

Alice & Olivia
Stacey Bendet's Alice & Olivia is offering customers 25% off everything in the store and online. The sale runs though Sunday and also includes sale items. This skirt dress is on sale for under $100 with the promotional discount from about $200. This Stace Face Tank is perfectly adorable for summer as is this puff mini-dress, which reminds us of an Oscar de la Renta.

Helmut Lang
Online shoppers can use this link and add the code HLSS14FF to save 25% off all items. The sale runs through Monday, April 28. The designer's newest collection seems to resemble MoMa-type patterns. While you're shopping, don't forget to check out the label's take on the Birkenstock-- they are almost all sold out.

Tory Burch
Though Monday, shoppers can save 25% off Tory Buch in stores and online with the code FRIENDLY. Exclusions include fragrance and home items. This satin tunic with jewels is currently on sale for $212 from $445 but come to just $160 with the discount. Searching the designer's newest collection is inspiring us to host a green themed pool party this summer. Better stock up now, while it's on sale.

Saks Fifth Avenue
The department store's friends and family sale has been running for about a week but ends this Monday. Shoppers can save 25% on an assortment of items in stores and online using the code FRNFAM. You can click here to read though all the exclusions. Take note, there are now a lot more items in the sale section. For instance, this Ostwald Helgason sweatshirt that's inspired by Jeff Koons comes to about $150 with the discount from $260 and this Clover Canyon patterned draped blouse comes to $120 from $200.

Theory Friends & Family 30%

Theory is hosting a friends and family sale where shoppers can save 30% off at boutiques. The promotion is also available online using the code TSPRINGFF but the discount is 25%.

Theory isn't known for the most exciting pieces of fashion but they may provide the most wearable items. This Slicker Makintosh coat is already on sale and is quite versatile. It comes to about $350 from $645. This jumpsuit is the perfect blank canvas to a super accessorized summer outfit and is about $310 from $445. A sleeveless silk blouse isn't exactly cheap for $130 from $190 but it pairs effortlessly with almost anything-- pants, blazers, skirts, etc.

The Theory friends and family sale runs for a full week and ends Wednesday, April 30. The only excisions are third party denim and Mansur Gavriel bags-- but we're pretty over them anyway.

Mother's Day Gift Collection

Mother's Day is celebrating its 100th anniversary on Sunday, May 11 and we couldn't be more excited to be the beneficiary of pampering and praise. The first thing you have to know about Mother's Day is that moms don't want you breaking the bank to say, "I love you." They also don't want a thoughtless card with a scribbled signature.

Finding the perfect gift can take a bit of determination and thought. Over here we put together a few collections of gift ideas. The first collection is for the Domestic Goddess and contains an assortment of beautiful and functional items, like a Pucci cosmetic case and a gift set of hand-made soaps. The other collection, The Matriarch, is focused on the women who rules. Gift ideas include, Tom Ford sunglasses, a Cuisinart juice extractor and a Dolce & Gabbana studded clutch. You can also click here to see eBay's guide for Mother’s Day.

Ebay collections are a great way to inspire and be inspired. Create your own Mother's Day collection using the tag #eBayMom and you'll automatically be entered for a chance to win $500 to shop on eBay. (Sweeps ends May 11, 2014.)

My blog post was written as part of my collaboration with eBay.

Inside the Yigal Azrouel Sale

Yigal Azrouel has become one of our favorite designers. His clothing is edgy and youthful without looking overdone or overly-hootchie. This season's sample sale started today and our devoted enthusiast, Paige Turner, couldn't wait to dig in.

As was the case last season, the sample sale is in the designer's showroom. Those looking for major discounts will be especially happy because the samples section is much larger than past years. The only drawback is that a lot of the samples look like they are very old. They could have possibly come from the back of a warehouse. Prices for samples are the same as prior season's-- all Yigal Azrouel samples are $60 (leather $125) and Cut25 samples are $40 (leather $90). Within the sample rack we found this current season draped top and this maxi-dress.

The open stock items are priced almost exactly the same as prior season's too. Cut25 jersey dresses are $125, tops are $100 and jackets are $175. The high-end collection, is understandably more pricey. Dresses are $250, tops are $120 and blazers are $225. We found lots of current season merchandise like this front-zip Yigal dress ($1050), this modern one that's normally $1090 and this red skinny skirt ($520). There was also this jacket ($890) and this hot pink drapy top ($590). From the current Cut25 we found this sweatshirt ($265), an open shoulder blouse $275 and this stripped techno dress (currently reduced to $250 from $500).

In addition to all the women's finds, there are also a few racks of men's clothing. As usual, there were hardly any men shopping. Women should take note that there is no dressing room. We suggest wearing sample sale attire -- leggings and a tank for optimal modesty. Take note, that more samples are expect to arrive daily.

Through Friday, April 25

Baccarat Annual Sample Sale

When it comes to buying crystal almost all the brands seem as if they are too fussy and dated. Baccarat has invested in taking their brand to a modern level by partnering with some of the most talented designers of our time.

Philippe Starck, Nicolas Triboulot and Eriko Horiki are just some of the design geniuses that have made Baccarat one of the most desirable brands in home goods. We can expect even more buzz as the brand opens a branded hotel with condos in midtown.

For two days, you can dig into the home goods luxury world as Baccarat discounts their delectable items up to 80% off. The only catch is that you have to drive to the warehouse, in New Jersey. But think of how wonderful items you could bring home without paying the amount of a home.  The sale will include barware, vases, decorative pieces and a large selection of Baccarat jewelry. Remember, Mother's Day is only a few weeks away!

Worthy Sample Sales: Bulgari, Yigal and More

It's been a few weeks since there's been a sample sale worth mentioning. Lucky for us, spring break is over and sample sale shopping can resume. Below is a carefully curated selection of our favorite upcoming sample sales.

Bulgari is opening the vault and offering their treasured jewelry at significant discounts. The sale will include jewelry, watches, accessories, handbags, sunglasses, fragrances and beauty items. Beware, this sale attracts lots of shoppers and lines can span over three hours on the first day. Shoppers can expect to find leather goods discounted about 70% off, which comes to about $500 to $700. The markdowns on jewelry and watches range from 50% to 60% off. During past sales, we noticed that much of the jewels and timepieces were discontinued designs. We would be rather surprised if you were able to snag a current Serpenti watch. During the last sale sunglasses ranged in price from $150 to $200 and wallets were about $100.

Tuesday, April 22 through Friday, April 25
Tues to Thurs 9am—6:30pm, Fri 9am—5pm
Soiffer Haskin, 317 W. 33rd St (btwn 8th & 9th)

Yigal Azrouël & Cut25
This is always one of our favorite sample sales of the season. We love the wearable and sexy clothing that is stylish but still classic. At the last sample sale all Yigal samples were priced at $60 and Cut25 samples were $40. Leather Cut25 samples were $90 and Yigal leather samples were $125. You can click here to see full pricing and inventory details from last season's sale.

Scotch & Soda
We aren't big fans of Scotch & Soda for ourselves but it's great for men. The sample sale will provide discounts up to 70% off. At the last sale shoppers snagged tanks for $15, jeans for $50, and blazers for $100. Prices for clothing start at $15 for a tank and go up to $150 for leather goods.

Sweaty Betty 20% Off

We will always have an affinity for Lululemon but their sketchy sale practices and strange color combinations have us looking for athletic alternatives. If you're in the same boat, this would be the perfect time to give the Sweaty Betty a run around the block.

The UK-based company, which has stores in Soho and CT, is offering customers 20% off from now until April 21. The promotion is also available online. Prices  for Sweaty Betty fall between Lululemon and Michi NY, with workout capris ranging from $60–$110 and tanks $30–$88. The focus is on gearing up for all types of sweat-- ranging from yoga to running, ski to beach, gym wear to tennis.

Despite cool cloths and interesting style we still think it's best to keep your athletic clothing for Soul Cycle and Core Fusion. After all, you have a closet full of clothing dying for attention.

Soigne K 75% Off

Soigne K opened on Madison Avenue about four years ago and has remained devoted to designers from India and modern takes on the traditional sari. While shopping the specialized boutique, we always find unique and colorful fashion that is wonderful for adding an authentic jolt of unique to your wardrobe.

Of course, we also love the store's markdowns. Right now, the boutique is offering shoppers up to 75% off retail prices. All of the sale items are located in the upstairs level of the boutique. There you will find an assortment of fabulous clothing, outerwear, bags and jewelry. There is even a rack of items that are perfect as Monaco-fabulous coverups.

Some of our favorite pieces include a white coat with black brocade that's priced at $2000 from $4000 and a classic silk white blouse that's $90 from $250. A jacket by Rohit Gandhi + Rahul Khanna is perfect for transitional weather and is a great fashion item for $325 from $850.

If you head over the the boutique's online store you will find some of the same items and a few extras too. Check out this Rinku Dalamal printed hi-lo dress that's $75 from $275 and these red onyx earrings that are $100 from $250.

Our philosophy on Indian-inspired clothing is: when in doubt, wear it to the beach!

Saks Friends and Family

The Saks Fifth Avenue Friends & Family sale is scheduled to start on Saturday, April 19 and run until April 28. We hear that sales associates have already started preselling merchandise in the store. Online shoppers can use the code FRNFAM at checkout.

The very loosely defined friends and family sale will be 25% off clothing, shoes and accessories. The discount on jewelry is 20% off. Every season this promotion becomes more popular and the list of brand exclusions get longer. We will post the list of exclusions when it becomes available.

We usually like to use the discount to shop for items already on sale.  This Sachin + Babi dress will come to about $140 from $450 and this colorful DVF snakeskin print top will come to about $60 from almost $200. That's really not too far off from a sample sale price.

Tuesday, April 15, 2014

Shopbop Friends & Family Now

The Shopbop friends and family is scheduled to begin at 7:30am, on Tuesday. The discount is 25% off  site-wide. We suggest you log on early. The site actually crashed during the last friends and family because of all the traffic.

As with most of these types of promotional sales, some of the most upscale designer brands are excluded.  You can click on the jump to see a full list of exclusions.

In the meantime, we suggest you start your shopping in the 60% off department and work your way back. (Merchandise discounted 70% is final sale, and we tend to avoid online shopping if backsies are not allowed.) Don't forget, summer is around the corner and are plotting to stack dozens of colorful bracelets up the arm all season long.

Hervé Léger 80% Off

The cherry blossoms in Central Park are starting to bloom, which means it's officially spring. Time to shed the bulk and slink into something a bit, ahem, more body conscious. How about a classic Hervé Léger for a great price?
Designer discounter, Amuze just launched their Hervé Léger sale where the designer's feminine and glamours dresses are reduced up to 70% off. We suggest you jump on this sale right away because inventory is very slim. While you're shopping, be sure to check out the site's other great designer sales. The site has some gorgeous Oscar de la Renta and Marni clothing, shoes, bags and accessories reduced 80%.

The site also has daily designer deals where one item is reduced a ridiculous amount. Past daily deals have ranged from Tom Ford shoes to YSL bags and Alexander Mcqueen clutches. Many times, items are reduced 90% off the retail price.

The best part is that all the items on the site are always authentic and brand new. Use the code madavespy for free shipping. It's addictive, don't say we didn't warn you!

Chanel Shoes 50% Off at Bloomingdales

Although it's a bit late in the season to be shopping for cold weather fashion, we will always welcome Chanel when it's on sale. Right now, the Bloomingdales on 59th Street has a small assortment of Chanel shoes reduced 50% off.

Among the sale items are thigh-high boots (no chains) reduced to about $1600 from $3275 and low boots with blue died pony hair are $1175 from $2350. There is also gray lace-up booties that are now $750 from $1500 and basic flats for $400 from $795. We suggest trying to snag some of these sale items with other timely promotions, which can bring down the price to create a significant deal.

Outside the Chanel selection these are lots of other past season shoes with significant markdowns. Black Fendi booties are $450 from $900, Prada flats fare $350 from $690 and Gucci pumps are $200 from $540. You can click on the jump page to see a pictures of our shoe scout.

Rebecca Taylor Friends & Family Sale

Rebecca Taylor is hosting a friends and family sale where all merchandise is 25% off. The sale runs through Monday and can be used online with the code RTSPRINGFF14.

One of our favorite pieces in the summer collection is a cap sleeve dress with lace incerts and nail heads. The weekend promotion will save you about $150 off the $600 price tag. If you're looking for something more affordable, check out the sale section. A leather tee with grommets comes to $292 from $650, a piped cap-sleeve dress is $178 from almost $400 and a blouse with floral sheer inverts is $125 from $275.

It's always great to use these friends and family sales to snag an item you've been eyeing. Just remember that this is hardly a first markdown. The promotion is much better used on items already on sale.

Fabergé's Million Dollar Easter Egg Hunt

New York is a one-of-a-kind type of place. It's no wonder that us city dwellers are so drawn towards the unique and the rare. Who can forget the colorful Cows that decorated our city in 2000 or The Gates by Christo and Jeanne-Claude, in Central Park, in 2005?

This year, we have been graced with Fabergé's Big Egg Hunt, which consists of hundreds of individually created eggs by the world's leading artists, designers and creatives. Participating egg artists include Jeff Koons, Tracey Emin, Zaha Hadid, Marc Quinn, Bruce Weber and Peter Beard. There are also eggs by style icons such as Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Carolina Herrera, Marchesa, Oscar de la Renta and Diane von Furstenberg.

New Yorkers (and visitors) are encouraged to track down the decorative eggs using The Big Egg Hunt app. Participants will all be eligible to win one of three specially designed Fabergé egg pendants, which consist of gold. diamonds and colored stones. Each necklace has a value of more than $46,000. (You can also purchase these pendants at the Fabergé Madison Avenue boutique.)

The best part of this event, however, is that all the artistically designed eggs are being auctioned off through Southeby's and a corresponding online auction on Paddle8. All proceeds from the egg sales will benefit Elephant Family and Studio in a School.

Right now, the online egg auction is already attracting substantial bids. The Jeff Koons egg is up to $360,000, the Zaha Hadid egg is up to $31,000 and the last Ralph Lauren egg bid was $5000. Do you think the Koons egg will hit $1 million? The artist's orange balloon dog sold for $58.4 million last year. Considering, $1 million for the egg could be a steal.

We encourage you to watch the auction as many eggs haven't been big on at all. Starting bids are just $500. This can be a great opportunity to purchase a truly one-of-a-kind New York experience and help others. The auction closes on April 22.

Take note, that all of the eggs will be brought together to display at Rockefeller Center (The Nest) from April 22 to April 25. We are sure that it will be quite a unique experience to see all of the eggs together in once place before they go to their respective homes. (Click on the jump link to see 15 of our favorite egg photos, with NY as the backdrop, of course. Which is your favorite?)

Designer Slipper Chairs at MSK Boutique

Slipper chairs were once used by Victorian ladies while “slipping” on their shoes. Today, these versatile little chairs can be found by fireside, next to a cocktail table, tucked into boudoirs or dressing rooms.
If you're looking to find that special one-of-a-kind chair or pair-of-chairs for a great price, we suggest you shop the Society Boutique--formerly The Society of Memorial Sloan Kettering Thrift Shop. Inside, you will find a variety of designer chairs for great prices and, of course, all proceeds benefit a wonderful organization.

This afternoon, we peaked into the Third Avenue "Society Boutique" to see what styles remained. We found a satin tufted chair with jeweled insets designed by Guy Clark for $1300 from a suggested retail price of $2600, a pair of tweed chairs with a tufted back by Stephen Sills Associates is $1625 for the pair from $3600and an armed chair with a wood frame, designed by Thom Filicia for Sedgwick & Brattle is $1300 from $2600.

We suggest that you stop by this sale soon. The slipper chairs are scheduled skip town on Thursday but we have a hunch that the seats will be there until they are all sold. That means there may be price "flexibility" once the sale formally ends. You can click on the jump to see more of what's available from the slipper chair sale.

Through Thursday, April 10
10am to 6pm

Rag & Bone Half-Off

Rag & Bone is hosting an online sale were an assortment of merchandise is half-off. It's hard to tell from what season the sale section is from but there seems to be a deal fitting for almost anyone. There's even a full range of sale items for men.

Over here, we found a classic Rag & Bone black leather moto jacket that's now $850 from $1695. These printed silk pants are season-perfect for right now and are priced at $175 from $350 and the coordinating, sheer chiffon, shirt is $145 from $290. Get this, we just styled an awesome new outfit for less than the retail price of the leather jacket. You can consider that, three for less than the price of one!

While browsing the sale collection, take note of the denim section. There is a nice assortment of jeans priced at about $100, which seems rather reasonable these days. Take note, that these sale items are final sale. It's probably best if you are certain of your Rag & Bone size before ordering.

The IT-it: Nike's, Not Just for Kicks

We are the last people to put comfort before fashion but-- these days-- it's hard to ignore the huge push for designer sneakers. Fancy, designer kicks started reaching to the $1000 mark with versions in the most expensive section of shoe departments.  Styles include studs, blinded, prints, paints and wedges.

Rather than outline the Louboutin, Zanotti and Givenchy versions of fashionable sneakers, we thought we would focus on the design elevation of the classic Nike. After all, if you're going to be wearing it-sneakers, you're going to have to know a little bit about the scene.

Most recently, the popular sneaker brand did a collaboration with Riccardo Tisci (creative director of Givenchy). Prices for the designer soles ranged from $240 for basic Air Force 1s to $340 for knee-high versions. A small amount of these must-have sneakers were sold last month and the next release will be available on April 11 on

Perhaps you're interested in something a bit more feminine? Nike's latest collab is with Liberty London. The floral print sneakers launched today exclusively on UK company's website but they do ship to the US. Prices range from 75-pounds for Internationlist Trainers 120-pounds high wedges. Select state-side Nike stores will release the floral print sneakers on May 7. (Just in time for Mother's Day!)

Those watching the news last week, might remember hearing about the Supreme x Nike Air Foamposite One. The Versace-esque printed sneakers drove a crowed so large that the NYPD needed to cancel the launch on April 3, in Soho. The $240 sneakers were untimely only available online from Supreme but still can be found on eBay for about $1000.

Later this week, sneaker-heads are anticipating the launch of Nike Air Pythons ($160). The all slate-gray sneaker has patches of python, which make it a bit more luxe. This sneaker will be officially available Thursday, April 12. We hear the Dover Street Market (Lexington and 30th Street) is the best place to score is never-before-seen color. They will also be available online here, starting Thursday.

If these Nike's aren't good enough for you, you can always wait for Kanye's next Yeezy/ Adidas launch, in June. Before you even click on the link, let it be known that these sneakers are $5000. If you're looking to make a fashion statement we can give you at least 5000 alternatives than these sneakers. Pictures of all the aforementioned Nikes can be found after the jump.

At the last sale, prices for open stock items ranged from $65 to $150. Sample prices start as low as $5 for a separates and ran up to $50 for dresses and $75 for coats.

Proenza Schouler Boutique 50% Off

Update: Dispite information from the corporate office, the Madsion Avenue boutique does not have any sale information.

Proenza Schouler's gorgeous Madison Avenue boutique still has some great winter accessories and they are now all reduced to 50% off. Online shoppers can consume the sale merchandise too.

The discount includes several of the brand's iconic styles, including a PS1 tote that's priced under $1000 from $2000. Our favorite tiny camo PS11 is $822 from $1644 and several PS13 handbags are $1125 from $2250.

If there's an item you like, we suggest snagging it quickly because hot items are selling out fast. How hot is this PS11 Classic Uguana in lipstick red?

"P.S." The spring collection was just uploaded to the online store.

MoMa x Uniqlo is Fine Art

Why don't we all agree that the best part of going to a museum is hitting the gift shop afterwards. It's not that we don't love art but how many people are lucky enough to go home with a Pollock or Weiner?  Despite our love of artful gift shops, we were dubious of Japenese retail giant, Uniqlo's capsule collection with the Museum of Modern Art.

The collections is appropriately dubbed SPRZ NY (for Surprise NY) and we sure were. The limited-time collection consists of about 200 pieces highlighting some of the greatest modern artists. What's even better is that the fashion and displays are almost as good as the famous images.

The second floor of the Fifth Avenue Uniqlo flagship features a variety of merchandise with iconic designs from the likes of Andy Warhol, Jackson Pollock, Keith Haring, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Jack Pierson. The collection is also being sold online here.

Some of the collection highlights are the $20 tote bags. It's hard to choose which one to get. We personally love both Warhol's Campbell soup cans and Basquiat's contemporary symbols. The $20 men's polos featuring Keith Haring's little dog are equally as attractive. The large assortment of $6 bandannas are also a great choice.

One of best parts about this collection is the Starbucks that's nestled into the middle of the gallery-like set up. Although it feels a bit like an airport, it's quite relaxing to sit with a Macchiato and contemplate the fine (retail) art. Now, if only more stores would consider doing the same, we might never go home.

Looking for Fashion Inspiration, Finding Love

Fashion magazines were always the traditional place to find fashion inspiration. Today, images of great style surround us almost everywhere we go. Shopping can be done from blogs, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and, the newest trend, e-railers' online fashion magazines.

Fashion inspiration seems to be everywhere. The only kink is that most of them don't offer great value. We have found one exception, eBay. We can lose ourselves on the site for hours--browsing and shopping for items that are both hard-to-find and hardly on sale.

Before Christmas, eBay launched an amazing platform, allowing users to create their own collections for inspiration. Ebay Collections have become our favorite online destination for curating and searching for interesting items. For example, it wasn't until we started searching for a hard-to-find Mansur Gavriel bucket bag that we found ourselves falling in love for the classic Louis Vuitton Epi leather Noe. The best part is that the vintage LV ended up costing much less than the trendy Mansur Gavriel.

We've created more than 40 eBay Collections. Subjects range from our favorite trends for spring to the best varsity jackets. We also have a collection of the most classic handbags and our favorite beauty products.

Go ahead, check out our eBay Collections and we challenge you to also create your own. You will be surpassed how inspired you become and all the great items you can find.

My eBay Collections were curated as part of my collaboration with eBay.

YSL, Fendi, Valentino and PSII at TJ Maxx

It's conventional wisdom that New York has the best shopping in the world. We have the best sample sales and end-of-season consolidation always calls the Big Apple home. When it comes to deals at discount stores, however, the good stuff is sometimes sent far away.
Last week, we got an email from a reader in Illinois alerting us to all the great bags that she found at her local TJ Maxx store. There are Saint Laurent's Ligne Y Satchels, Fendi 2Jours, Valentino Rockstuds and Proenza Schuler PSIIs. The large Y bag from Saint Laurent is priced at $1000 from $1795 and the large 2Jours are $1699 from $2350.

We couldn't help ourselves from investigating our closest TJ Maxx, on 100th and Columbus. We are so sad that report that the store had virtually no desirable designer items. After combing the store we could only report find a pair of embellished B Brian Atwood booties for $117, Dior peep-toe pumps in patent royal blue for $379 from $750 and Roberto Cavalli jeans with gems along the seams for $250 from $625.

There are more pictures from our Illionis tipster after the jump. Please feel free to share great find from your local discount store in the comments section below.
