Karl Lagerfeld 70% Off

Those who are plugged into Paris fashion week have been gushing over Karl's most recent runway collection for Chanel. The legendary designer staged a riot of feminist fashion on the runway yesterday with posters announcing "Make fashion not war" and "Boys should get pregnant too."

It's hard to resist falling for the Lagerfeld spirt. Right now, The Outnet is hosting a sale where the designer's collection is 70% off. You wouldn't believe these prices. This leather jacket is just $235 from $587, leather ankle boots are $192 from $550 and a mirrored emoji keychain with of the iconic designer is just $64 from $160. It's impossible to resist all of it.

The sale just launched today and items are selling out quickly. There's no wonder why.

Inside: Rent the Runway Sample Sale

Today we went early this morning to check out the Rent the Runway sample sale. Don't be mistaken, although this markdown event is being coined as a sample sale it much more resembles a designer garage sale. Samples are normally new or showroom used. The merchandise from RTR is very much well used and some if it is very expensive considering its condition.

When you are in the habit of shopping great markdowns it's hard to put a number value on pre-worn merchandise. Should it be priced at 70% off, 80% off, 90% off? You will have to be the judge.

Inside the sale you will find a huge variety of dresses and gowns. The best of the bunch was a shift from Yigal Azrouel marked $351 from $995. Priced better is a Preen dress for $281 from $2225 but it did seem to have a dusting of wear. An MSMG summer dress is $191 from $995 and a Clover Canyon classic print is $72 from $265. (Pics inside here.)

The most popular dresses are the Herve Leger dresses, which range  from $87 to $500. The red $87 variety has a neckline so plunging that it should come with a fake boob option and another blue ombre variety for $105 has an off-the-shoulder neckline that was stretched out on all of them. Other Herve options include a black classic with a racer back for $403, a blueberry stripy style for $196 and an aqua style with a deep scalloped plunging neckline for $225.

The sale also includes a small assortment of evening bags and jewelry. The discounts for these are about 70% off. Oscar de la Renta earrings were $83 from about $300 and a damaged Kate Spade Mr. & Mrs. clutch is $85 from about $400.

You can click on the jump to see picture from our shopping Rent the Runway sample sale shopping trip.

Bloomingdales Friends and Family Sale

The Bloomingdales friends and family sale begins Monday online. Shoppers can save 20% with the code FRIENDS. Those looking for an in-store Bloomingdales experience can begin shopping using the discount on Tuesday.

This season, the designer exclusion list doesn't seem overly extensive. The discounts can be applied to brands like, Ferragamo, Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Mochino and Rachel Roy.

Take note, that this discount can be stacked onto already reduced merchandise. For instance, this Helmut Lang Blazer with white piping is already 50% off or $310 from $620. After the friends and family discount, the jacket is $230. This Elizabeth and James midi skirt comes to under $200 from $325 and this Clover Canyon one shoulder flower print dress comes to about $200 from $360.

The friends and family sale ends online and in stores on Sunday, October 5th. There's also free shopping on all orders over $150, which shouldn't be hard to reach.

3.1 Phillip Lim Sample Sale

Starting tomorrow, Philip Lim is hosting a sample sale where past season's clothing, shoes and accessories are discounted up to 70% off. Today, we spied a sneak peak at the sale and were excited by the assortment of fashion opportunities.

The most popular items are the handbags, of course. Prices range from $200 for a small Pashli to $450 for a large Ryder satchel. We suggest grabbing one of the exotic clutches, which is an amazing deal at just $150. Shoes may even be more attractive, priced at just $100 a pair.

The clothing is mostly from last winter and not priced quite as attractively as the bags and shoes. Dresses are range from $150 to %400. The least expensive styles are just shirt dresses and the more pricey styles are  full sequin party dresses. Most coats and jackets are about $500.

The sale runs through Saturday but we suggest you attempt to shop before then. We have a feeling that most of the good stuff will not stick around for long.

Vince Camuto Friends & Family

Few companies can do Zara's "reinterpretation" of designer fashion as well as Zara. Of late, Vince Camuto has been doing a fine job competing with Zara's off-the-runway fashion for a fraction.

What's even better is the brand's mid-season discount promotions. Now through Friday, Vince Camuto boutiques are offering 25% off shoes and accessories as part of a friends and family event. Online shoppers can use the code FRIENDS at checkout. Check out these Jimmy Choo-like moto boots and these practically Gucci riding boots.

Take note, Vince Camuto clothing is not included in the friends and family sale.

The 5 Best Deals in Vintage

Shopping for vintage used to be a no brainer-- amazing designer pieces for a fraction of the retail price. Today, that great savings isn’t always a given. For instance, if you were to shop for a pre-owned Chanel bag, you might only save 10% off retail. Not really worth the hassle, in our opinion.

Although resale and vintage have skyrocketed in price, there are still some hidden gems that are insanely stylish and great values. We've put together a list of our favorite fashion items that can be had at a true discount. Click here to see our best kept secrets.

The IT-it: Frame Denim

Just when everyone is saying that the denim market is dead, there comes along a new brand to excite jean lovers. For the past several months we've been hearing about Frame Denim. It's the designer on everyone's lips (and hips). Miranda Kerr, Karlie Kloss, Heidi Klum are all Frame devotees and you know that if they look good in them-- so will you??!!

All kidding aside, Frame's Le Skinny de Jeanne holds your figure without losing shape, even after several days of wear. One friend speculated that the secret to their hold and flatter is that they are woven from unicorn hairs. So what do you think? Should we give them a shot?

Frame Denim Le Skinny de Jeanne ($199 but now 40% off)

Inside the Life of a Madison Avenue Spy

Ever wonder what it's like to be a Madison Avenue Spy? Elite Daily joined me for a regular day of spying for the "I Want Her Job" column.

  Can you have it all?

“I think I kind of have it,” she says. “My personal utopia is being able to work and still be able to be with my family and kids while still having my own time and not missing out on those special moments.” You can click here to see Kylie McConville's full article. I'm truly honored.

J. Crew Offers 25% Off

It's still early in the season to find great sales but that doesn't mean you can't take care of shopping promotions. After all, 25% off something you really want to own is better than 50% off what you don't need. Right?

Right now, J. Crew is hosting a sale where almost all full priced merchandise is 25% off.  (Just use the code SHOPFORFALL at checkout.)

Sometimes we find that J. Crew can be hard to shop but some items are absolute wardrobe staples. For example, Pixie pants are a must-have for a girl (or woman) of any age. They are universally flattering and are perfect to wear with everything from this season's oxfords to knee-high riding boots. A shiny puffer vest or jacket is perfect for pumpkin picking season. Suede ankle boots are perfect for the first day of fall and Elsie pumps are dead ringers for Manolos or Jimmy Choos but cost a lot less.

Madison Avenue J. Crew shoppers should be sure to "remind" their sales person about the discount when checking out. We find that J. Crew employees often "forget" to apply the discount.

No Hermès Sale This Season

You no longer need to worry if you haven't received your VIP invitation to the Hermès sample sale. It's not happening.

Sources close to the company tell us that Hermès prefers to liquidate past season merchandise within select boutiques. Since most of the past merchandise is gobbled up during the markdown, there isn't enough inventory to host a compelling sample sale.

Very few stores ever host sales. Annual markdowns can be found at the Wall Street Hermès and the Hermès in Bergen County, NJ. Take note, leather goods are never on sale and they couldn't have been found at the sample sale either.

Although, Hermès decided to abstain from a sample sale this season we wouldn't be surprised if one is scheduled before Spring. Those looking for their golden VIP invites should make a concerted effort to stay close to your Hermès sales person over the course of the year. (Read: buy more.)

Reed Krakoff 80% Off

Most people love Reed Krakoff for his bags. We agree, they are nice but it's always been the shoes that really cause a heart thump.

Reed Krakoff shoes are stylish, yet restrained. They have just the right amount of personality but maintain a strong sense of sophistication. The one problem is always the price tag.

Consider the following information the solution to all your Reed Krakoff worries. Online luxury discounter, Amuze, just posted a flash sale of amazing Krakoff shoes, bags and clothing. The discounts range from 60% to 80% off.

Altuzarra Hits Target

The Altuzarra's collection hit Target today and shoppers pounced. We knew that the designer collaboration would be a big hit among New Yorkers but we didn't think outer fashion sanctums would receive the luxury merchandise wholeheartedly. We were wrong.

Today we traveled to Target stores more than 50 miles outside of Manhattan and found the new collection to be almost sold out by the afternoon. In Marlboro, NJ all that was left were two crane sweaters, four python blouses, about 20 pairs of booties and individual pieces of this and that. The scene wasn't much better in Neptune, NJ were the only items left were some shoes, blouses and a lone pencil skirt. (See photos from our shopping trip after the jump.)

Store managers said that this collection didn't draw people at the crack of dawn but there was a steady stream of shoppers throughout the day. One store manager said that the inventory was a lot smaller for this collaboration than many past fashion promotions.

Target has also instituted a new 14 day return policy. This means that you can expect the merchandise to boomerang back much more quickly than usual. We found that many shoppers would hold on to the designer collab items waiting for a markdown. This time, that won't work.

Altuzarra shoppers will have the best luck shopping online, where most of the merchandise is still available. The kelly green trench is sold out and the faux fur jacket is no longer available online. (Word to the wise, cheap fake fur looks like a bid toupee, just bad.)

Finding Missoni in the Most Unexpected Place

Shopping is a lot like treasure hunting: You tend to find the most extraordinary items in the most unexpected places. Today we struck gold in an old side-street thrift shop.

The NCJW Council Thrift Shop, located on East 84th Street, is one of the last places you would expect to find brand new Missoni shoes and clothing. The inventory includes several pairs of shoes that were in the Madison Avenue boutique just last winter. (You can see that story right here.) There's also shoes for men and a very small selection of clothing.

A pair of architectural pumps is priced at $175 from a retail price of $600 and platform booties are $225 from $900. The men's shoe assortment includes moccasins, driving shoes and a few pieces of clothing. We are told that the Missoni merchandise was donated by the boutique and it isn't the first time that such a generous charitable contribution has come from the Italian company.

We applaud Missoni for their kind contribution that equates to two gifts: money for a worthy charity and a treasure for a keen shopper. Click here to see more pics.

Fashion Week Spring '15 Trends: Layered Skirts

Fashion week already starting to wind down. We serving up all that’s smoking hot while we get through the last shows of the week. These top trends are what you can expect to see on the street and in pages of your favorite fashion magazines, next spring.
A skirt is just a skirt unless it's two or more skirts at once. This season designers are layering skirts. We've seen layers of tulle over mini skirts, slips under high slits and short skirts over long dresses. Delpozo, Chadwick Bell and DKNY. Head this way to see the highs and lows of this layering trend.

Fashion Week Spring '15 Trends: Hemline Flourish

Fashion week has now half over. We serving up all that’s smoking hot while we chug over this hump day. These top trends are what you can expect to see on the street and in pages of your favorite fashion magazines, next spring.
Sometimes a new trend can look rather outlandish. Perhaps this peculiarity is due to the sheer newness of a trend or a sudden tide change. This season, we are noticing a curious pattern of vests and skirts worn over poplin shirt-dresses. MM6 Maison Martin Margiela, Peter Som and Ostwald Helgason are some of the trailblazers of this emerging style. You can click here to see more about what’s going on over the shirt.

Fashion Week Spring '15 Trends: Maxi Coat

Fashion week has officially taken over New York and if you haven't caught the fever, we are here to bring you everything that's hot. We are rounding out the top trends that you can expect to see on the street and in pages of your favorite fashion magazines next spring.

The maxi skirt and the maxi dress have been on the runway and hanging in your closet for several seasons. For Spring 2015 the maxi coat goes into full bloom. The ankle-sweeping coat hasn't been seen on the runway for nearly a decade but started to emerge on the runways last season. The long and lean coat makes for a dramatic and fresh silhouette. For spring, add blasts of bright colors and prints to make a top-to-bottom statement.

Above are examples from The Row, Creatures of Comfort and Libertine. You can read more details about the maxi coat craze, right this way.

Fox's Opens on East 86th Street

At a time when off-price stores have been deemed obsolete, Fox's discount department store is trying its hand on the Upper East Side. Fox's is known for their off-price designer and non-designer apparel. It's not exactly our demographic but it's new to the neighborhood-- so we explored.

Inside, you will find a wide range of apparel and accessories ranging from very bad to might-be-okay. Highlights include Lucky Jeans for $59, Nicole Miller dresses for $129 from $420, a Vince Camuto dress for $98 from $198, and a Catherine Malandrino coat for $150 from almost $300. The store also has an assortment of well priced Calvin Klein athletic clothing. If you're wondering, that's the "not so bad" category. (Pictures are over here.)

The most interesting merchandise is a few European brands that we've never seen. A small assortment of Salco coats didn't feel too off from a Moncler. They are made in Italy and seem to be a nice duck down for just $220. Another interesting brand was a French clothing company Eyedoll. Their merchandise. (The quality, although French, was still not so fine.) A Eyedoll tweed dress with orange fringe is $89, a metallic dress with a school girl collar is $98 and a printed sweatshirt with furry arms is $59.

We are sure that Fox's will get a lot of traffic considering it's located at the foot of the 4-5-6 train but we aren't so sure that it's going to become a regular destination for local designer shoppers. Perhaps, markdowns will change our opinion.

We are just a few days into fashion week and it doesn't take long for trends to emerge. We are rounding out the top trends. Expect to see these looks on the street and in pages of your favorite fashion magazines next spring.
Black and white is huge trend that will continue into next spring. Almost every designer devoted a segment of their collection to a yin-yang combo. 7 of the Most Tired Trends

Hot trends can become as easily tired as a song overplayed on the radio. At some point nobody is happy hearing Pharrell’s Happy. The same holds true with styles that bombard you in every store.

Right this way we've listed 7 trends that have exceeded their expiration date. Not all of these fashions are faux pas but the peplum tops and snarky designer sweatshirts should take a stroll to the bottom of the charts. Ahem, I mean, the back of the closet. Click here to see the entire list items that should be taken out of rotation.

Hervé Léger 70% off

The online discounter, The Outnet, just started an Hervé Léger where the discounts exceed 70%. The sale includes lots of iconic bondage dresses and variety of mini a-lines.

Check out this one shoulder ombre bondage mini-dress that's $636 from $1590. Even during the boutique's final markdown this dress didn't make it under $900. This color block mini-dress is quite affordable at $469 from $1340 and this sequined stunner is $805 from $2300.

Right now, full size ranges are still available. Can't say that will be the truth for long. Also, keep in mind, The Outnet offers same day delivery in Manhattan. That type of service can be quite valuable --especially during fashion week.

Cool Coats for Fall and Winter

Summer is unofficially over and Indian Summer is upon us. That means it's the perfect time to start plotting out what to wear when the weather becomes unmistakably cold. Every season, there are always so many options, styles and colors that it's almost impossible not to find several to love. This season is no different.

Nordstrom has a great variety of coats that can fit almost any fashion need. We love this reversible belted coat from Max Mara ($3250). The light weight felt and muted hue are a perfect combination. A coat in winter white, like this one Armani Collezioni ($2175) always brightens a gray winter days. Then there are the oversized coats that are topping every trend list, this season. The look starts with rounded shoulders and enough interior room to layer heavy knits and blazers. This Trina Turk wool and alpaca coat ($625) from Nordstrom is perfectly oversized or you can try a more feminine twist on the trend with this more traditional Akris wool coat ($1690).

Everyone this season is looking for the ideal blanket coat in a geometric print.  Be sure to avoid bulk underneath: go with bare legs or skinny jeans, and you can cinch it with a thick or skinny leather belt. Our favorite style is this Stella McCartney checkered version ($2410). It's so versatile and can be paired with everything from high boots to slippers or a men's style loafer. Nordstrom also has a great Burberry version here and this Etro number with a Navajo print ($2820).

When picking a perfect coat, remember that cool is the operative word. You can browse all of our favorite coats for fall in our curated boutique below.

The Most Ridiculous Fashions for Fall

Every season there is a fresh crop of fashion shapes, the-newest-shade-of-black and a fad-of-the-moment. The newness is always exciting but sometimes it seems as if designers are testing the limits of fashion insanity.

This season is no different. Chanel has created a frenzy over $1300 cross-trainers and magazines are urging women to lose an earring. Why do these Dior pumps remind us so much of dentures?  Click here to see 7 of this season’s most ridiculous fall fashion trends. Let us know if you agree.

Spanx 50% Off

Now that Summer is unofficially over, we can take advantage of the Spanx sale without any bikini guilt. The squeeze-me-till-I-bust shapewear company has a online discount section were many popular items are 50% off.

This high-waisted brief is $9 from $19, this convertible full slip is $44 from $80 and wax denim leggings are $54 from $105. The site even has squeezey choices for men. A boxer brief and trunks are both $19 from $35.

Lets face it, contouring undergarments aren't comfortable but it must be better than an old fashioned corset. Right?
