Kirna Zabete 80% Off

The sale at Kirna Zabete, Soho's swankiest multi-brand boutique, just got a whole lot better. The site says is offering an extra 20% off summer merchandise that's already been discounted 60% to 70% off. Use the code SODAMNHOT at checkout. Discounts aside, the best part is that KZ has a great assortment of inventory that may not be available at your local department store.

For the unfamiliar, a quick browse of the Kirna Zabete site will have you falling in love with this downtown gem. Take a look at these Gianvito Rossi leopard mules that are now under $200 from $835. This Dolce & Gabbanna dot dress is $530 from almost $2000 and a Roland Mouret gown is $1000 from over $3700. (The dress fits even better than it looks.)

There isn't a huge amount left in this sale section but at least it's all good. Take note, that all sales are final.

Rebecca Taylor Extra 40% Off

Rebecca Taylor is moving the last of summer merchandise by offering shoppers an additional 40% off already discounted merchandise. The final markdown on many items is 70% off. Just use the code SUMMER40 at checkout.

Although we aren't normally a big fan of contemporary brands, Rebecca Taylor always offers sophisticated pieces. This season they are a little slacking on the styling online. You might get a better sense of the collection by actually going to the store. Some standouts include this dip dye maxi dress $180 from $525, a star print dress is $130 from $375, and this floral print top is $70 from $275.

Last year, the prices dropped to 75% off as the sale ran through Labor Day. For now, there are still lots of size options available for most items. We anticipate this wont be the case for long.

Sophia Webster Final Sale Markdown 70% Off

Looking to feed your fancy for whimsical shoes at playful prices? Look no further than Sophia Webster's final markdown. Some styles from spring and summer are now reduced 70% off and there are still some great styles in a range of sizes.
This Brandy cage sandal is reduced to $240 from almost $800, suede ankle strap shoes are about $200 from $680 and these bright flamingo shoes are also $200 from $675. The best deal is this Riko mule that's white with neon red and mint green woven throughout for just $200 from $670.

We aren't surprised that the more popular style shoes are still only 50% to 60% off. Comparably speaking, the prices at Saks Fifth Avenue are a bit better but most all sizes are already gone. On the other hand, the Dionne vinyl and embroidered sandal is $70 more at Bergdorf Goodman and $125 more at Nordstrom.

The discounts are high but the sale is short. Sophia Webster's final markdown will end Friday.

Last Chance: Neimen Marcus 80% Off

We wouldn't have expected Bergdorf Goodman to be ahead of their parent company for markdown season but they were. Just for a short while, Neiman Marcus is offering an extra 25% off sale items for a discount that steps above 80%.

While you may have already sorted through the Bergdorf sale section frontward and backwards we were excited to see lots of different items from NM. Take a look at this Valentino painted feather jacket that was originally $5200. The price is now $1170 and is perfect for Fall. We love this python print Proenza dress with a drop waist that's just $312 from nearly $1200.

The shoes online are still a bit pricey. You can probably find more favorable discounts in the store. There is, however, a lot of Tom Ford shoes here. You might just want to take a look.

We think this really could be the end of the end. We suggest you sort and check out now-- or forever hold your peace.

Urban Zen in a Concrete Jungle

Donna Karan may have closed her doors on Madison Avenue but she will always remain one of the most respected women in fashion. It is absolutely an end of a Donna Karan era.

Even though Donna Karan won't be continuing her namesake collection, it doesn't mean she will be forsaking fashion. Karan is turning her attention toward her organization, Urban Zen. After all, it's only natural that one would want to follow up work this urban jungle with a bit of urban zen.

The boutique (and website) is a lifestyle brand that offers a curated collection of artisanal items. The products range from furniture from Bali to necklaces from Haiti. Some of our favorite Urban Zen products include, the slinky fitted dresses and the braided collar necklace. The light-weight cashmere scarves are just begging for a cuddle.

A percentage of the proceeds from Urban Zen profit the Urban Zen Foundation, which supports eduction, healthcare and culture in under-served corners of the world. What a nice way to bring some extra meaning to fashion after to a blazing hot career.

J. Crew 90% Off

There are sales and then there are the practically giveaways. J. Crew is essentially giving it away. Through Monday, you can save an extra 75% off final sale items. The final discounts ring in at about 90% off. Just use the code SUMMERSALE at checkout to activate the additional discounts.

When the promotion started-- before the weekend-- there was a lot more merchandise but there are still enough $9 tees. Here is a gold (or blue) metallic bathing suit that comes to $13 from $118, a $12 beaded tee from $65 and $19 white matchstick jeans. The sale also includes lots of bathing suits and shoes but sizing is patchy. Be sure to check out the kid's and men's clothing too.

If you're not seeing anything you like you can also look at the normal sale merchandise that's an extra 40% off. The only thing is that everything seems expensive even at 60% off after you look at the prices from the final sale section.

Last Chance: Bergdorf Goodman Discounts 80%

If you're a fan of Bergdorf Goodman then we suggest you head to 57th Street right away. Through Saturday, the Lavender Lady is offering customers an extra 20% off sale items for a total discount of 80% off.

Head this way to see a Cushnie et Ochs crepe top with side cutouts that comes to $138 from $695, a Helmut Lang fitted dress is just $84 and Gucci skinny pants are just $138 from almost $700. There is also a flared version of the Gucci pants that are about the same price and look amazing. Unfortunately, shoes are only about 60% off and the selection isn't great. The handbag selection isn't stellar either.

There are literally thousands of items discounted to mere pennies on the dollar. It's hard not to fill up a full cart of goodies. The best part is that all shipping and returns are free. Even ultra-discounted merchandise can be returned up to 30-days. Now, those are some policies we can get behind.

The IT-It: Elena Ghisellini

All roads leading to quality and couture start in Florence. After all, it is the birthplace of handmade everything and even today remains the gold standard of fashion. It's really no wonder why the Florence-born designer, Elena Ghisellini, has had such an amazing track record in accessories design.

You may have never heard her name but Elena Ghisellini is currently the head accessories designer for Pucci and is credited for the incredible success of Givenchy's and Ferragamo's leather goods. It's her own label-- which has already been available for a few seasons--that's really capturing our hearts.

The Felina collection is inspired by the face of a cat and is both playful but mysterious. The shape is immediately recognizable and the color combinations are enchanting. If you fell subject to Valentino's rainbow collection, than you will also love the rainbow Fatale clutch. This version with stars and strips is the chicest bit of patriotism we've ever seen. The more classic black-and-white Felina Mignon crossbody bag could be more versatile than the more whimsical styles but it's no less haute.

The bags range in price from $600 to $1300. Like Celine, we wouldn't be surprised if prices jumped as popularity gained momentum. We have a feeling that Elena won't be working under the Pucci label for many more years.

Amazon's $12,000 Dress and More Incredible Finds

There is a new Queen of Fashion.

Today we heard news that retail analysts expect that Amazon will exceed Macy's as the nation's largest apparel retailer in less than two years.

Amazon's gross merchandise value in apparel and accessories are expected to grow from an anticipated $16 billion in 2015 to more than $27 billion in 2017, according to financial analysts Cowen and Company. To compare, Macy's anticipated sales for 2017 are $24.69 billion in apparel alone.

Even if you haven't been to a Macy's in decades (present company included) you can assume the type of merchandise you would find. Think lots of MICHAEL by Michael Kors, Lauren Ralph Lauren, North Face and Calvin Klein. Even as a 'Prime' Amazon shopper we couldn't even guess the types of brands available on Amazon. So, we did a bit of digging.

Not surprising, there are a lot of familiar brands like Kate Spade, Marc by Marc Jacobs and Nine West. What was surprising, however, are the more expensive items. We found this Miranda Women's Sweetheart prom gown for almost $12,000! Sure we can imagine an Oscar de la Renta dress for that price but who has ever heard of Miranda? To add insult to injury, the dress is made of polyester.

There were more unexpected finds. We wouldn't even know how to categorize this $3800 getup from Matija Vuica . If you think that's strange, you haven't seen this sheer gown from Eleanor Fashion House for $3600 from $5800. (Hat not included.) What's even funnier is that these pricey dresses can't even be expedited through 'Prime'.

Perhaps, something for everyone is how Amazon is making it's mark. There is no doubt they are doing something right-- even if some of the style options are a bit off.

TheOutnet Clearance 80%

TheOutnet is hosting a huge sale on Tuesday morning where everything will be discounted 80%. In addition to clothing, the sale will include shoes, bags and jewelry.

We got a sneak peak into what will be in the sale and fell in love with these Alaia studded suede sandals, which will be $332 from $1500 and Maiyet flat sandals will be $130 from almost $600. Among the clothing is a Roland Mouret crepe dress for $707 and a Jil Sander cotton pleated dress for $210. There is a great Phillip Lim biker jacket reduced to just $339 from $1700. There are also lots of jeans for about $40.

If you don't see what you like on Tuesday, you can check back on Thursday when we are told even more merchandise will be added. We have a feeling that will have done enough damage by Thursday. Just be warned, all sales are final.

Fivestory Sample Sale

Madison Avenue boutique, Fivestory is hosting their semi-annual sample sale. This year, the sale has a change of venue. It's moving from the basement of the The Bowery Hotel to the official 151 Wooster Street sample sale storefront. We are happy that the tony boutique has opted for  a less dingy location but are worried that outsourcing the sample sale could result higher prices.

At the last sale, all of their merchandise was either 60% or 80% off, depending on the age of the collection. Naturally, we like to focus on the merchandise that is more highly reduced. We found a Preen sweater print dress that comes to about $100 from $495, a Veronique Leroy sweater jacket is about $600 from $2180 and a Versace dress is approximately $540 from $2725. Head this way to see all the highlights and lots of pictures from the last sale. We wouldn't be surprised if a lot of what we photographed made an encore appearance at this sale.

If you've never been to the Fivestory boutique we strongly suggest that you do. The brownstone space feels like the love child between the Mark Hotel and Henri Bendel--in the old days. The decor is luxurious and the fashion is haute. Think Balmain, Cushnie Et Ochs, Mary Katrantzou, Roland Mouret, Jason Wu, Carven and Giambattista Valli. And, of course, there is Rosie Assoulin.

Fivestory Sample Sale
Tuesday, July 21st though Sunday, July 26th
Tues-Sat 11am-7pm, Sun 11am-5pm

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Goes Public

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale opens to the public tomorrow. We like to think of the promotion as a Fall pre-presale and it's a great opportunity to stock up on items that you will need as soon as temperatures start heading south or even some fun items you can enjoy now.

This year prices on some items are especially attractive. We sorted through all 32-pages from the women's sale. Below are some of our favorites items:

Saks 5th Ave Cuts Prices 75%

What a difference a season makes. This past winter, Saks Fifth Avenue made a point of ending the consolidation sale and limited discounts to 70% off. Perhaps Hudson Bay-- the corporate owner of Saks-- didn't realize how competitive the luxury retail space can be.

Today, Saks started a "Surprise Sale" where discounts top 75% off. This MSGM white lace dress is mid-Summer perfection at $273 from $910, this Christopher Kane white eyelet skirt is $281 from $1135 and a Narciso Rodriguez shift dress is $519 from $2100. Take note that not all merchandise is 75% off. Most less expensive pieces and contemporary designers are between 60% and 70% off. Shoes are still reduced 60%.

This extra discount promotion is only available online and ends Thursday at midnight. We also noticed that there isn't a Final Sale policy on sale items. The small disclosure states that returns on sale items can be made within 30-days. Lets hope that this is a permeant policy change.

Shopbop: Designer Fashion Extra 25% Off

We all love a good friends and family sale but a friendly designer discount is just as good. Right now, Shopbop is offering customers an extra 25% off already discounted designer merchandise. The extra incentive brings the current discount to nearly 80% on some items. Use the code 25Extra at checkout.

We found a Narciso Rodriguez sleeveless knit dress that comes to $474 from $1600, a Preen By Thornton Bregazzi geometric dress is $437 from $1320 and Wes Gordon wide leg trousers come to just $267 from almost $1200. One of our favorite items are these Rodarte earrings that come to just $66 from $220.

The sale ends at midnight on Wednesday. Just beware that the most discounted merchandise is final sale. This is the best deal you can expect, outside of Shopbop's friends and family sale. Seems like a good enough opportunity to stock up for August vacation.

Intermix Now Offers 75% Off

The discounts at Intermix are climbing quickly. Right now, many clearance items are nicely discounted and then all sale items are reduced an additional 50%. The only downside is that all reduced items are final sale.

We found Frame bell bottom jeans for $75 from $220, Nicholas V Band dress comes to $230 from $575 and Marissa Webb drappy skirt is down to just $100 from $445. There's also Missoni turbans for $100 and a light weight ALC dot blouse for $85 from $345

The sale is online and in stores but the last time we checked the Madison Avenue store there wasn't a lot left in the clearance racks. You might have better luck Downtown but shopping online seems easier than either!

Manolo's Markdowns Begin

The Manolo Blahnik's boutique sale is happily on its way. The savings are currently 30% off but in just days the markdown will go to will be 50%.

As far as sales go, the department stores are serving up better discounts. Bergdorf Goodman has BBs for under $300 right here and mules start at just $315 from Saks.com

Towards the end of the month, Manlolo adds a third "sticker" markdown where prices start at just $250. You can see our past overage of Manolo's sticker sales here. We always prefer the boutique final markdown to the sample sale-- at least you get a box with your shoes.

Nordstrom Anniversary Presale

Nordstrom is known for having great sales. There are two in particular that can send a city girl shopping in the burbs: The "Half-Yearly Sale" and the "Anniversary Sale." The Half-Yearly sale is clearance, usually towards the end of the season. The Anniversary Sale is a pre-sale before the new collection hits the department store floor.

Nordstrom's Anniversary Sale starts today. The sale consists of a catalog of pre-Fall merchandise that is discounted 25% to 40% off. Each department has its own special items that are featured in the pre-Fall sale. You can sift through the catalog right here.

The presale sale runs from July 9th to July 16th but the sale is limited to customers who have a Nordstrom credit card until July 16th. Afterwards the sale opens to the general public. Prices return to normal once the sale ends in August.

Back-to-school items are especially attractive during this Nordies sale. For example, we wouldn't be caught dead wearing Uggs but they are a staple for school-age children. For example classic Uggs are $100 from $150,  Hudson jeans are $32 from $69 and Vans are just $30.

We are a bit choosier when picking pre-season items for ourselves but a DVF wrap dress caught our eye for $265 from  almost $400. A casual coat from Topshop is just $100 from $160 and classic Stuart Weitzman boots are $400 from $625.

There are also some great beauty packages with terrific brands like Kiehl's, Molton Brown and La Mer. Check out this Charlotte Tilbury package that comes with a cosmetic case and offers a $60 savings. This year there is also an extensive home section, which includes sheets and towels, kitchen accessories and decor accent pieces.

Clearly the savings are significant. Identifying what you want for Fall is a bit more difficult but surely worth the effort. Sometimes it pays to plan ahead.

Milly Dresses are $20 at Kolhs

Kolhs isn't exactly the most likely shopping destination for Madison Avenue shoppers but we heard about $20 Milly dresses and decided to take a look.

Today was our first entreé to the retailer and we were really quite surprised with what we found. There were lots of recognizable brand names and the prices were quite inexpensive. The only problem was that a lot of the merchandise is produced of that nail snagging polyester that makes our skin crawl. Very much akin to what you would find from Target's designer collaborations.

As with Target, there are many pieces that stand out for their great design, reasonable quality and amazing price. The Milly collection, which is now on clearance, includes crisp cotton dresses, light cotton peasant tops and soft sketchy jersey maxi-dresses. In the store, we found this stripped maxi-dress for $23 from $76, this organza top in black was $15 from $50 and this blue floral print dress was just $20 from $68. You can click here to see pictures of all the Milly dresses we found or you can click over to TheBudgetBabe to see the complete lookbook. (Unfortunately, will not cross-honor in-store pricing.)

Today's shopping trip just goes to show that you shouldn't drive by a store for 10 years without going in. You never know what you can find.

COS 50% and More

It's that time of summer again when you realize you have nothing to wear. There's nothing to wear to breakfast. Nothing to wear after the beach. Nothing to wear. Period.

To make matters worse, summer trends are already tired. We've had enough with the chevron rainbow. Ditch the Dolce florals. Simple. Simple. Simple. Finding something inexpensive isn't bad either.

If you're looking for quality minimalistic basics without the high prices, we suggest you explore COS. The retailer is the younger sister of H&M. Prices are higher but the quality is akin to most designer contemporary brands or better. The best part is that COS is hosting a summer clearance sale where most items are 50% off or more.

A loose fit jersey dress (perfect for after the beach) is now $39 from $79. Raw cut leather sandals are $37 from $125 and this version with a wood heel feels like Celine and is just $95. Here is your oversized cotton top for just $22 from $45. Oh, and here is your dress for your early Sunday morning coffee run for $44 from $90.

The online store also carries a nice selection for men and women, which are both on sale too. If you can't get to the store downtown, we seriously suggest you test shop online. Shipping is just $6 and returns are free.

Net-A-Porter and TheOutnet Extra Discounts

It's now or never if you want to grab what remains on Net-A-Porter. As an extra bonus, the site is offering an additional 20% off select remaining items.

So what's left? White Fendi track pants come to $200 after the extra 20% from $850, A Dolce & Gabbana blouse is discounted to $320 from over $1000 and a Rick Owens vest is $800 from $2600.

After tomorrow the sale section disappears and the next stop is TheOutnet. Speaking of which, the discount site is now offering an additional 40% off items that are are already heavily reduced. This Iris and Inc drawstring bag is an amazing deal at just $177. The same goes for this light weight cashmere sweater that comes to just $95. Here's a Valentino bag for just $600 from $2500. Here's a pretty Herve Leger dress for just $400 from an original price of $1640.

We love both these sales because there are plenty of inexpensive items that offer a cheap thrill and a variety of more haute merchandise that would otherwise be cost prohibitive. Just remember look at the small print. Sometimes the most discounted merchandise is final sale and it's no deal if you're not going to be able to enjoy your purchase.

Amuze July 4th Spectacular

July 4th is almost here and it's the perfect time to grab some great deals at our favorite online designer discount store, Amuze. The holiday sale boasts discounts up to 80% off of great designer merchandise from Tom Ford, Valentino, Saint Laurent, Prada, Gucci and more. The best part is that you can use the code JULY4 and save an additional 25%.

Check out these Manolo Blahnik Mary Janes that come to nearly $200 from $735, a Valentino pouchette is just $380 from almost $2000 or an Alexander McQueen dress comes to $280 from almost $1200 and a wine color Balenciaga moto jacket is just $725 from over $2700. (Now, that's a deal!) There is even a great selection of clothing for men and children.

We couldn't imagine anyone not loving all these discounts but it's also good to know that Amuze allows returns for either store credit or refund (minus shipping, of course). But shop fast, these deals will disappear as quickly as the fireworks.

Bergdorf Goodman & Barneys Slash Prices to 75% Off

We are coming into the home stretch of markdown season. In baseball they would call it the bottom of the ninth. (I think.) Both Barneys and Bergdorf Goodman have slashed prices to 75% off, which means all bets are off. It's time to throw down those white gloves and get shopping.

Below is a comparison chart of Barneys, Bergdorf Goodman and Saks Fifth Avenue. Take note that the shoe discount at Barneys ranges from 60% to 75% off. It's rare to see markdowns on footwear that top 75% off. We suggest snagging anything that looks vaguely like something you might wear.

Saks Starts Final Markdown-Consolidation

Saks Fifth Avenue started their final markdown today. The discount, which is being titled a 'Consolidation Sale,' is up to 80% off. The one problem is that all merchandise that's reduced 60% or more is final sale. That means you need to really consider your options before making a purchase.

You can click here to see all the great items we found in the store earlier this week or head online. Some of our favorite items include an Alexander McQueen red flared dress that's now $900 from $3000, Chloe scalloped flats for $200 and Manolo BBs are $280 from almost $700.

If you're holding out for an even better discount you might be disappointed. Since new management took over, the discounts stopped at 70%. Perhaps that means more of a bounty for the Off Fifth stores but we haven't confirmed that.
