Once the Tryptophan sets in, it's time to get comfortable and start shopping. There's so many stores and so little patience. For the beast designer deals head this way to Amuze where you will find the most exclusive fashion designers-- Louboutin, Chanel, Valentino-- and prices up to 90% off retail. The inventory includes items for men, women and children.

Lets take a look at some of the highlights: Right now, the entire Christian Louboutin and Chanel collections are discounted an extra 15%. These Chanel heels come to about $425 from $875. Louboutin Follies Cabo pumps are about $660 from $1395.

Among the bags, which are an additional 30% off, we found this Valentino studded bag is about $1300 from $4745, a Saint Laurent Lutetia Flap clutch is $350 from $995 and this Gucci tote for $700 from $1930. So, gobble ... gobble... gobble and rest assured that this type of of consumption will not add a millimeter to your waiste line.

Where to Shop on Black Friday

This week, the biggest friends and family event is Thanksgiving. The difference between Black Friday and Cyber Monday are almost indistinguishable. There are great deals whether you're looking for the excitement of crowds or prefer to shop solo from your computer. Below are our top picks for Black Friday but rest assured that the deals are almost identical if you are shopping online.

Saks Fifth Avenue
Prices for the shopping extravaganza will be reduced up to 60% off if you can get to the store before noon. (The discount is available online now.) An Alice & Olivia print skirt is $120 from almost $300 and Alexander Wang wedges are $260 from $650. Just a warning, the early Saks crowd can be overwhelming. This is a great time to shop for beauty items. Right now you can get a $25 gift card for every $100 you spend. Just remember to use the code BEAUTY at checkout.

Gap/Banana Republic/Athleta
Stock up on all your basics and hats, gloves and pajamas for the kids. Everything is 50% off in honor of Black Friday. Women's denim jacket is $35 from $90 and girl's pom-pom hat is $10 from $20. Banana is offering 50% off sweaters and an extra 40% off already reduced items. Athleta is offering 20% off through Monday.
It's hard to list out which items are the best deals because there are so many. Here is a laundry list of our favorites: Ultra Light Down jackets for your entire family (women's now $50 from $80). The Carine [Roitfeld) blazer is very nicely constructed and is reduced to $120 from $150 and cashmere sweaters are reduced to $50 from $80. Shipping is free and online shoppers save $15 for every $100 they spend.

Designer discounts are up to 40% off and there is an extra 25% off sale items. Take note that the Nordstrom collaboration pop-up with Opening Ceremony is now live/open. There are no discounts but the collection is stocked with great gift items. Lots are bound to go on sale but it's always nice to start stalking what you want early.

Saks Pre-Sale Begins With Crazy Bag Discounts

The Saks Fifth Avenue pre-sale for Black Friday is officially underway. The big news is that a huge assortment of bags are included in the sale. Saint Laurent bags are reduced 30%, Valentino and Gucci bags are discounted 40% and Prada bags are 50% off this season.

Don't miss a sale or a markdown. Be sure to follow along on Instagram and Twitter

Among the discounted Valentino bags included in the sale is the Rocklock Micro Multicolor Camouflage that's $1257 from almost $2100, a clutch in the same pattern comes to $387 from $645 and the My Rockstud Single-Handle Satchel is $1827 from $3045.

Among the Prada sale bags are the Saffiano Double-Zip in Navy for $1215 from $2430, the Daino tote in cream, blue, grey, red and navy is $800 from $1600 and the City Sport Shopper in red, white or blue is $925 from $1650.

Heading over to the houses of Gucci and Saint Laurent the stock lists are extensive. A black or red Gucci Interlocking shoulder bag is $925 from $1550 in the small version or $1350 from $2100 in the larger size. The Gucci Soho Shoulder Bag is on sale in almost every color variation and is $990 from $1625.

There aren't any Saint Laurent Sac du Jours included in the Saks sale but there are lots of other good options. The Universite Medium Patchwork Reptile-Embossed Leather Crossbody is $1400 from almost $2000 and a Y Chain leather wallet is $945 from $1350.

Take note that the Gucci bags are final sale. Most shoes in the shoe department are discounted 30% but the Valentino sale assortment is 40% off. Designer clothing is on sale for 40% off. Customers can begin taking home their pre-sales Wednesday.

Net-a-Porter Sale Begins Up to 50% Off

Net-a-Porter just set live their first holiday season promotion. Even though this isn't the 'real' markdown there are some really interesting finds.

Head this way to see the bags on sale. This Tony the Tiger Anya Hindmarch is half-off and comes to just $600, an uncharacteristically classic Charlotte Olympia leather tote is $1800 from almost $3000, a Chloe Faye in python for $2660 and a Nancy Gonzalez red croc tote is $1895.

Among the clothing is a large assortment discounted 50%. Here's a Tod's black-and-white sweater for $650, a Marcus Lupfer sweater is $205 and a Peter Pilot coat for $300. This Simone Rocha embroidered dress is really quite striking.

Head this way for your Aquazzara lace-ups for 50% off or Gianvito Rossi shoes shoes in a similar style. Nude Lanvin wedges are over here for $345.

Last season, the real sale went live December 1. We would suggest snatching up anything you see now that's 50% off and then continuing to stalk the items you covet from this season.

Barneys Pre-sale Begins

Barneys shoppers can begin to pre-sale for the first markdown starting Monday. The discount is 40% across the board-- clothing, shoes and bags for men, women and children. Besides the outstanding selection, 40% discounts make Barneys the best department store to shop for holiday deals.

Among the reduced items are Saint Laurent Sac du Jours in several shades, like red, purple and embossed croc black. Among the Fendi sale bags is the 2Jours in wine. There is also a large assortment of Givenchy bags included in the markdown like the Antigona, the Pandora and a variety of shoppers. In the shoe department, you can count on lots of Manolo Blahnik and Valentino, Gianvito Rossi, Aquazzara and yes, select styles of Christian Louboutin.

The sale goes public on December 1. Barneys' sales associates aren't always forthcoming with pre-sales. If there is an item you want to secure, we suggest that you give your name and number to the respective brand associate and have them call you when the discount becomes available. You can usually expect a call within hours of leaving the store.

Gift Alert: Mansur Gavriel Available Now

In a sea of bags priced over $2,000, Mansur Gavriel has become one of the most talked about brands in fashion. The Italian-crafted minimalistic bags have dominated the market partly because of their moderate prices, which range from about $500 to $700.

Like good wine or great coffee, the bags are produced in small batches. That means that there is always more demand than supply. We wouldn't categorize the MG shopping experience as difficult but we loath the waitlist experience. What's why we are giving you a heads up that Net-A-Porter has a selection of MG bags available now.

The inventory includes an assortment of styles including the popular tote and bucket bag in a variety of colors. Head this way to snag the popular black tote with the red interior ($585). Here's a bucket bag style in Black/Ballerina inside combo ($595) or a Camel/ Rose combination. Other available colors include Sand and Emerald.

If you're in the market, we suggest you snag one of these styles now. It will become increasingly more difficult to track down these MG bags as the holidays draw closer.

Gucci Private Sale Live Online

Gucci has stated their online fall/winter presale, or private sale--as they like to say. The markdown is about 50% on clothing and shoes. Bags are reduced about 30%. You can use this link to access the sale merchandise.

The bucket bag with a bamboo handle is now $1500 from $2500 and the larger interlocking Gs pocketbook is $1260 from $2100. (We happen to really like this style.) The sale selection of clothing isn't stelar but this wool a-line is $2000 from $4000 and some strange style of loafer is $290 from $675.

It seems as if Alessandro Michele has been able to kick it up a notch but we don't see people welcoming Gucci back into their homes. What do you think?

Moda Operandi: 50% Off Private Sale

Moda Operandi is hosting a private sale where a large assortment of designer bags, clothing and shoes are discounted 50% off. To access the sale you must use this link and enter the code HALFOFF at checkout. The promotion ends Saturday, November 22.

According to the sort mechanism there are more than 4000 items included in the sale. Some highlights include a JW Anderson sweater that comes to $400, an embellished No. 21 skirt is about $500 and an embroidered Delpozo top is $1300.

Some merchandise are leftovers from prior seasons but there are some great items if you take the time to sort through it all. Take note, the stewed Moda Operandi sale usually starts Black Friday and markdowns are 30% to 50% off.

Adam Lippes x Target 80% Off

Target chose Adam Lippes to follow up the blockbuster Lilly Pulitzer collaboration. We were very dubious about how the New York-based designer would be received nationwide. To find the answer one only need to check the Target website. Right now, a large assortment of the collaboration merchandise is discounted 80% off.

The collection launched on September 28 and the most talked about items included the plaid bucket bag, which is now reduced 30% to $28. If you're looking for better deals direct your attention towards this throw blanket that's $9 from $29, a shearing backpack thats $20 from $40 and appetizer plates that are $7 from $30.

There is a great deal of Lippes merchandise still in stores. We usually find the prices on clothing and accessories  are less expensive on the sales racks than on the website.

Presale Roundup: Lanvin, Proenza & Tom Ford 50% Off

Temperatures are dropping and so are prices. Today, we collected markdown intelligence from Madison Avenue boutiques that are beginning pre-sale and discounts. Take note, some stores can be a bit cagey about their pre-sales. It's best to ask for a particular sales associate or call ahead to see if an appointment is necessary. It's still early in the season for great boutique discounts, so we'll just call this our shopping amuse bouche. Enjoy!

Be sure to follow along on Instagram and Twitter for pictures and real-time updates.

Pre-sale will begin by appointment on Monday, November 23 and the sale officially begins on December 1. Clothing will be discounted 40% and shoes and a few select handbags will be discounted 30%.
Stephanie 212-717-8220

Dolce & Gabbana
The pre-sale starts on November 19th but you can begin shopping now. Most of the fall and winter collection of clothing and shoes are discounted 40% off. Not many bags are included in the markdown. The sale officially begins November 27.
Stephanie text 201-951-2597

It's hard to know if you should boycott Lanvin or buy everything left that was designed by Albert Elbaz. We would suggest going with the latter considering that the markdown will be 50% off most everything in the store. The official "private pre-sale event" will be on Thursday from 3pm to 7pm. Frankly, earnest shoppers can pre-sale at any time. Merchandise can be taken home as early as Monday, November 23. The sale officially begins Black Friday.
Devon 646-439-0381

Proenza Schouler
Pre-sale started at Proenza Schouler for VIP clients (i.e. editors, VIPs and those who have shopped at the store previously). The markdown is 50% off clothing AND seasonal color bags. Those who want to take advantage of the pre-sale should take note that merchandise can't be taken home until the sale is public on November 27. Also take note that there is currently a Proenza sample sale. You can see details about that sale right here.
Susan 212-585-3200

Tom Ford
If anyone asks if you got 'The Email', say "Yes!" Pre-sale for Tom Ford begins Friday and the store is extending hours for their best shoppers. Clothing and shoes are 50% off and select bags are discounted 40%. The sale officially starts December 1 but Friday pre-salers can take home their merchandise immediately.

5 Ways Host Overnight Holiday Guests

The holidays are usually a great time of year for friends and family to spend extra quality time. That usually means pulling out extra blankets and pillows for overnight guests. Our usual rule is three nights max but not all guests subscribe to our rules.

Regardless of how long your guests are staying you always want to make them feel welcome and comfortable in your home. Even though your home isn't a five star hotel, there are a few ways you can go the extra mile to make your guests feel extra special.

Fresh Crisp Linens
There are few things more enjoyable than getting into a bed with crisp clean linens. If you feel like the linens you already have are getting tired, this is the opportune time to freshen things up. Don't worry too much about thread count just make sure that whatever you buy is 100% cotton. Bloomingdales carries top luxury brands, including Frette, Sferra and Yves Delorme. If you're looking for less expensive options, you can check out Bed, Bath & Beyond or Amazon if you prefer something delivered to your door. For discount luxury bedding, keep an eye on Gilt.

Fresh Flowers
When guests are coming I like to scatter several bud vases around the house with light color roses. You can surprise your guests and put them in the bathrooms, on a dresser or besides the bed. CB2 has a variety of inexpensive bud vases or you can grab this beautiful Alessi Vase almost half price on Gilt. My favorite vases right now are the colorful acrylic assortment from Alexandra Von Furstenberg.

Scented Candles
Creating a nice atmosphere means warming all the senses. When the kitchen isn't overflowing with food, I like to light up scented candles around the house. One note, try to keep the smells similar if you are lighting more than one candle. Fragrance can easily become overwhelming too. You don't want to have a cinnamon sent mixing with a light floral smell. Some of my favorite candles are Diptyque, Jo Malone and Missoni.

Morning Barista
Most people wake up and want a warm delicious cup of coffee. There is no reason why your guests should have to open their eyes and roll into a Starbucks. Start the day off with an easy fresh cappuccino. I especially like the Nespresso machines, which are very affordable. If you're more of a coffee gourmand, try starting the day with a french press and your favorite brew.

Apple TV
The best guests know how to retreat at the right time. I like to furnish all my guest bedrooms with Apple TV and Netflix so that my company can relax and watch a movie alone in their room. This also gives me time to recharge and watch my favorite shows alone.

Charlotte Olympia Sample Sale: Not So Kitty, Kitty

The Charlotte Olympia sample sale started early this morning. The sale includes a variety of the designer's quirky heels and a scattering of kitty flats. Prices are indicated by sticker and start at $150 and go up to $400 for an elaborate bag.

Many shoe styles, including flats, are $250. Most of the selection are summer styles but there is a scattering of in-season and holiday inspired theme shoes. Sizes run from 34 to 42 but the best selection goes to those who wear a size 36. You can click here to see a range of pictures of shoes and bags that we found at the sale.

Considering the limited inventory, we might suggest you head to the Madison Avenue boutique where they started their pre-sale. Prices are 50% off. You can head here and here to see picture books of all items included in the sale at the boutique. The best part is that if you don't live in New York they will ship to you and most destinations don't need to pay sales tax.

Sample Sale
Through Thursday, November 19th
Wed 11am—7pm, Thu 9am—7pm
Roosevelt Hotel, 45 E 45th St (btwn Vanderbilt & Madison Ave) Vanderbilt Suite

T'is the Season of Pre-Sales

While most Americans are planning their Thanksgiving meals, we are stalking our favorite boutiques for the first opportunities to shop markdowns. We uncovered some early hits of sale season. We will continue to update the site as we uncover more sale intel.

Be sure to follow along on Instagramand Twitterfor pictures and real-time updates. We have pics and info from the Carlotte Olympia sample sale. A full post is coming soon.

Bottega Veneta
This year the Italian lifestyle brand officially started their sale a bit earlier than usual. Right now, you can save 30% off on handbags and 50% off on most other items in the boutique. Bottega's colors this season were really beautiful, which makes this a great opportunity to grab a classic style bag in a fabulous color. Included in the markdown is the large hobo in pink, wine and tourmaline. While in the boutique, we also spotted this Karung & Ayers Snakeskin bag and Double Handle Leather Totes in lots of pretty pastel colors. The discount isn't yet available online but bags are never discounted on the website.

Pre-sale will begin on Friday. The discounts will range from 40% to 50% off but the final determination on discounts has not been made. The sale selection will include seasonal items from the pre-fall and fall collections. That means you can snag savings on lots of prints from the latest collections. This season the shoe collection was a snooze. It's been quite some time since Prada has had a blockbuster collection but our love remains unconditional.
Zohair 212-664-0010

Saint Laurent
If you're looking to snag a nice saving on YSL we suggest you head there fast as the boutique's sales people are currently calling dibs on the best items. We hear that the sale will officially begin on November 30. Finding a transparent sales person isn't always easy but persistence will payoff if there's an item that's specifically interesting. Be on the lookout for a 30% discount on bags including patent and studded Sac De Jour bags, lipstick print bags and fringed styles. In the shoe section, select Tributes will be discounted 20% and other shoes will be 30% to 40% off.
Kiara 212-980-2970

The pre-sale at Valentino officially begins on Friday, November 20. Again, be sure to let a sales person know now if there's something specific that catches your eye. The discount is 40%. The black and white combo Rockstuds are included in the markdown along with yellow, pink, wine, brown and animal prints.

5 Gifts To Bring Your Thanksgiving Host

One major reason to be thankful this Thanksgiving is not hosting the main event. That doesn't mean, however, that you're completely off the hook.

Finding the right way to thank your host --who has sweat over every detail from the Turkey roaster to the table napkins --isn't always an easy proposition. The key is finding a gift that is both thoughtful and appropriately rewards your host for all her work.

Below are a few suggestions that are sure to put a smile on the face of your host and insure you get invited again next year.

Presenting your hostess with fresh flowers is one of the most popular ways to thank her for the effort. One mistake that many guests make is to buy flowers from a generic florist Locally, Ovando is the go-to florist of the style set. Her designs are both architecturally interesting and sexy. Depending on my mood, I will sometimes arrange the flowers myself and and present them in a beautiful vase. After all, what's a Baccarat vase without flowers?

Delicacies & Cookbook
Every neighborhood has their local delicacies. If you are traveling to your host, bring something yummy from home along with a cookbook. This way your ambitious hostess can attempt to reproduce the delicacy. Some of our local favorites include Payard pastries and cookbook, most anything from Dean & Deluca or Eli Zabar. Head this way for a beautiful box set from Vosage Chocolate, an assortment of pasta sauces or a box of fresh truffles and accessories.

A bottle of wine is likely the most popular hostess gift. Wine is always a perfect gift because there is such a broad range of budgets available. Personally, I like to bring a bottle of chilled champagne because it's festive and goes with almost all foods. There are also some great subscription packages. I personally love the idea of Tasting Room where you can provide your host with a box of mini-wines and he can pick his favorite and receive the full size. Wine memberships are another way to impress your host.

Monogramed Home Items
It's hard to turn up your nose at a gift with your name on it. To get extra personal it's nice to monogram a gift item from cocktail napkins to bathrobes. J. Crew and Neiman Marcus have entire monogram shops, which includes a variety of merchandise. Henri Bendel, particularly, is able to monogram and emboss a variety of items from bags to toiletry items.

A scented candle is both understated and memorable. Try a 3-wick candle, which will add a glorious glow to their living room and fill the house with a wonderful scent. Trying to score major points? I love most scents from Fornasetti, Diptyque and DL&co .

Gucci Presale Begins

The Gucci pre-sale is now underway in boutiques. Bags, clothing and shoes are discounted 40% off. The pre-sale link will go live online on Friday.

Last season, Gucci did a style purge and discounted almost the entire collection 50% off. This time around we aren't so lucky. Some key items included in the markdown are the Disco bag in orange, the Jackie Bucket bag in a variety of colors and the Interlocking Leather Shoulder bag in assorted colors including black. Take note, that a lot of the sale items have already been removed from the website in preparation for the sale.

The sale isn't just occurring at Gucci stores but also includes Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdales and Nordstrom. Take note, as with many private sales, stores and sales people tend to be cagey. It is part of the culture that we really dislike.

Those shopping in Europe can enjoy discounts in about two weeks. One point that you should remember is that all Gucci sale items are final and cannot be returned.

Inside: Proenza Schouler and Sergio Rossi

The Proenza Schouler and Sergio Rossi sample sales open to the public on Tuesday. Today we were granted early access to both sales and were eager to take advantage of the opportunity.

We started our day downtown at Century 21, which is hosting the Proenza sale. The most popular section, obviously, is the bags. The selection included a big assortment of  Proenza's greatest hits: PS1, PS11, Lunch Bags, Bucket Bags, Buckle Bags, satchels among others. Prices range from $299 for mini-size bags to $1100 for a python PS11.

This Mini PS11 in assorted metallic colors is priced at $499. These medium PS1's in a variety of colors are also $499 and the smaller size is $450.  (You can see pictures and prices over here.)

There are also lots of small leather goods: wallets, pouches and iPad cases, among others. There is a limit of three bags and four small items but we saw lots of people hoarding bags and taking two trips to the cashier. We wouldn't be surprised if the sale was wiped clean of bags by Tuesday afternoon.

The shoe section is upstairs but the assortment is small. We found ankle booties with a wood-esqu heel for $125, pumps with a round heel for $199 and slide sandals for $99. (Head this way to see pictures.)

There is a wide selection of clothing for men and women upstairs and downstairs. If you're looking for the best deals, we suggest you head upstairs. There you will find racks that were separated by price. The most discounted was the $29 and $49 rack, where we found a aqua leather top for $49 and several sample size skirts for the same price. There are racks of plants on the $69 rack and some dresses and leather skirts on the $99 rack. Just be careful some times are samples and unfinished and other items are damaged. You can head this way to shop the pictures and see pricing.

Heading over the the Sergio Rossi sale later this afternoon we found a very calm shopping atmosphere. Most shoes are priced between $125 and $400. Fancier shoes will set you back $500 to $550. The selection is not very good in the smaller sizes but is ample for those size 37 and above. The sale includes a handful of bags but none were worth lusting for. Unfortunately, were not permitted to take any pictures and security was very tight.

All the shoes are sold in the original box with the dustbags. Most of the selection is in pristine condition. We are told that there will be restocking throughout the sale and we wouldn't be surprised if there were price cuts. For this one, we would suggest waiting until Thursday morning before you pounce.

Yoox: Prada, Marni & Lanvin 50% Off

It's going to be a week or so until our favorite Madison Avenue boutiques start their pre-sale. Until then, you can direct your attention towards Yoox, which is offering deep discounts on many designer merchandise. What's even better, is that through the weekend you can save an extra 25% at checkout for a total savings of 60% and sometimes even more.

Among the Prada items we found this red and black sweater that was shown on the runway (winter '14-'15) that comes to $330 from $722. These tall boots with a wedge heel are $567 from almost $1100 and a classic wool coat with red piping comes to $826 from almost $1600. Moving over to Marni there's an orange-red coat for $512 from $1000 and a current season pull-over is $470 from $900.

Some other interesting finds is this Balmain dress (not H&M) that's $755 from $1438, a knit Lanvin dress in emerald green for $350 from $930 and Alexander McQueen platform pumps with skulls on the front are $453 from $840.

We usually find Yoox overwhelming but these discounts are worth the investment of time. Take note, that inventory is running low for a lot of the best items. Other items are several seasons old. The sale ends November 16 but by then we should be able to start designer pre-saleing.

Ralph Lauren started a pre-holiday sale promotion where you can save an extra 30% off already reduced merchandise. Right now you can find select merchandise reduced to over 60% off.

The sale started today and runs through Sunday, November 16. The sale inventory for woman is predominately from Polo Ralph Lauren and Lauren. For men, there is a nice amount of Black Label and RLX. The sale also includes a smattering of home goods, which range from a wool throw for $350 from $750 to towels that are discounted about 60%.

The sale includes lots of cold weather items. Take this RXL women's puffer that comes to $165 from $500, a Navajo patchwork cardigan is $735 from $1500. There are also lots of Ralph Lauren classics, like this big pony polo for $28 from almost $100, a chunky cabled wool turtleneck is $70 from $165 and wonderfully distressed jeans are about $125 from almost $300.

Keep your eyes open if you're looking to snag some deals on Ralph Lauren's higher-end brands. By early December, the sale usually includes the luxury collections which you could find discounted up to 60% off.

The IT-it: Going For Gold

One could rationalize that getting dressed during the holidays is just like any other time of year. The only problem is that the generalization is very wrong. Besides the cooler temperatures (in many places), getting dressed during the holiday season always calls for more glitter and sparkle.

Over the span of late-November to early-January, you can get away with almost anything that has glimmer and shine. Hey, is there really anything wrong with stringing yourself with holiday lights? Well, yes. LED is just a little bit over the top but there is nothing wrong with reaching for gold.

Ever since the Met Ball, this past Spring, we have noticed how 'Oscar' gold has become a winning color. When paired with muted tones like army green or khaki, gold offers a relaxed brilliance. Have you noticed how nicely gold jumps off the red carpet. No further commentary necessary!

Below are some of our favorite ways to wear gold this upcoming holiday season:

Equipment black & gold top ($228)
Herve Leger gown ($2390)
Alice & Olivia minidress ($1200)
Jenny Packham gown ($5275)
Gold Converse Chuck Taylor ($95)
Loren Steward 14k gold safety pin earrings ($275)
Stella McCartney gold knit turtleneck ($820)
Prabal Gurung gold sequined tee ($1095)

Andrew Marc Sample Sale

With temperatures as warm as they have been it's hard to believe it's November. Intellectually, we all know that this temporary warm spell won't last. Before you know it, Thanksgiving Day floats will sweep their way up the Upper West Side and temperatures will slide South.

Now is the perfect time to prepare for the inevitable. This week, Andrew Marc is hosting its annual sample sale. The sale features deep discounts on men's, women's and girl's, leather, fur, wool, down and rain outerwear and apparel. (Girl's sizes range from 7/8 to 16.)

The sale started Saturday and features savings up to 80% off retail prices. We spotted an Andrew Marc Italian wool coat with removable rabbit fur vest for $299 from $1,195, an asymmetrical leather moto crop jacket with diamond quilted sleeves is $349 from $995, a down jacket with detachable coyote fur trimmed hood is $199 from $410, and a wide selection of dresses are priced at $39 from up to $288.

The sale runs through Sunday but we suggest attending soon. Like the Thanksgiving parade, this annual sample sale is a tradition in New York and the best merchandise tends to go quickly.

Christian Louboutin Coming Soon

Update: We are told that the sample sale is not this week. Dates have not been confirmed but we anticipate sometime in December. We apologize for any inconvenience.

When is Monday not a bummer? When you have an invite to the Christian Louboutin sample sale!! That's right, the sale that everyone loves to hate starts this week. The security is tight and there's a clear mean-girls hierarchy to who gets invited to shop first.

The most important Louboutin insiders, glossy magazine editors and celebrities, are known to be invited to begin shopping on the first day. The sale extends all week as the invited guest list expands to allow general press and "friends and family."

Most shoe styles range in price from $300 to $500. There is always a very limited assortment of men's sneakers and shoes, which range $300 to $400 depending on the detail. During the last sale our VIP snoops reported that most shoppers were buying in bulk -- meaning that most shoppers ended up with at least ten pairs of shoes each. You can click here to see the inside scoop from last year's sample sale.

If you're considering door-busting this sale, we suggest that you use your best technique starting Wednesday. Be forewarned, at the last sale, there were several layers of security and we received many reports of people getting turned away after waiting on line for a ridiculous amount of time.

Follow along on Instagram and Twitter to get up-to-the minute updates.

Your Weekend Shopping: Gap, Lam, Margiela, Sephora

It's Friday again! Don't be sad if you missed Manolo Blahnik's surprise sample sale or didn't find anything left from H&M x Balmain. There are lots of other great places to shop and things to buy. Below is a small list of our weekend shopping picks:

Derek Lam Sample Sale
We hear there is still a great selection of merchandise at the Derek Lam sample sale. You can head this way to read about what we found when the sale opened. As predicted, there was a huge price cut. Right now, everything at the sale is an extra 40% off!
Until Sunday, November 8
Fri & Sat 10am—8pm, Sun 10am—4pm
151 Wooster Street

Gap Friends & Family
There is hardly a time when you don't need to stock up on inexpensive basics. Now would be especially opportune considering that the Gap is hosting a friends and family sale where all merchandise is discounted 40% off. The promotion runs through Sunday. Use the code WOW at checkout. Black Friday is usually a few hours of 50% off but shopping now is much more civilized.

You have through Saturday to snag this season's fashion from Maison Margiela, MM6 Maison Margiela and Dsquared2. An MM6 Maison Margiela red coat is $402 from $965 and a men's Maison Margiela black and white sleeveless sweater is $317 from $795. Prices aren't as discounted as we usually  like but styles are current. It also never hurts to kindly ask if there is incentive for "bulk purchases."
Through Saturday, November 7th
Fri 10am—7pm, Sat 12pm—5pm
220 W 19th St btwn 7th & 8th, 10th floor

Sephora Friends & Family
Sephora's "VIB shoppers" (read: big spenders) can save 20% off at Sephora from Friday through Monday using the code ROUGE20 at checkout. Who can't use a new BeautyBlender? Just for kicks try one of those ridiculously priced Christian Louboutin lipsticks or something more reasonable in a matte. Makeup Forever for sensitive eyes is really the best way to remove mascara. If you're not a Sephora VIB just go into the store and ask a sales person for "assistance." Otherwise you can wait until next week when the discount becomes available to more shoppers.

The Best Winter Shades

Just because temperatures have dipped, it doesn't mean that the sun has completely disappeared. Wearing sunglasses throughout Fall and Winter not only protect your peepers from the sun's bright rays but they also look hot.

We can always depend on Dior sunglasses to keep us looking stylish 365-days a year. This year the Dior So Real was the style of the season. The geometric browline and mirrored frames have become a street-style sensation. It's believed that the craze started with RiRi and quickly spread to fashion editors and style influencers. A season later, the So Real is just as covetable as when it debuted.

Another Dior frame that we love is the Metal Butterfly, which has a colored browline that resembles a butterfly. The Dior Mohotani is perhaps the perfect exagerated cat-eye and the Chicago 2 Strass is the quintessential aviator.

What's best is that Nordstrom always offers free shipping and free returns. We only wish that navigating all the other aspects of Winter were so easy.

Derek Lam Sample Sale: Go Now, Go Again

The Derek Lam sample sale started Tuesday morning and it's a rare pleasure to  enjoy true sample sale pricing and a civilized shopping atmosphere. Perhaps we are still scared by the Hermes/ Gucci experience but we promise-- this one is safe.

Inside the the sale, at 151 Wooser, you will find lots of great luxury merchandise priced 50% to 90% off retail. The inventory spans from luxe suede coats, vests and leather pants to the designer's more classic dresses and tops. Prices range from $75 for 10 Crosby shoes to $395 for the designer's high end luxe coats, jackets, leather/suede items and formal gowns. (See collection pictures and images from the sale right here.)

Derek Lam booties for $175 are an amazing deal as is a belted suede coat --similar to this one-- that's now $395 but currently in stores for almost $5500. The the sale included an assortment of dresses and sweaters that seemed to be pulled from several different seasons. All Derek Lam dresses are $325 and knits are $125. Don't leave the sale with at least one blazer, for $350 --it's a staple that could last you a decade.

The sale also included an small assortment of bags all priced at $250 regardless of shape, style or construction. Unfortunately, none were too desirable even despite the hugely discounted price.

If you're looking for less expensive alternatives, this sample sale also includes an variety of merchandise from  Derek Lam 10 Crosby. When given the option, however, we will almost always choose the high quality and styling of the designer's nameplate.

At the last Derek Lam sample sale, about two years ago, merchandise was continually discounted throughout the sale.  Prices became very, very good. This time around, we suggest hitting up the sale now and going back again over the weekend. It's amazing how an additional price cut can make even the most basic item seems profoundly more attractive.

Keep an eye on Instagram for continued sale updates (over the weekend).
