Manolo's Biggest Markdown of the Year

Monday is the start of the Manolo Blahnik super semi-annual sale. This four day sale is the perfect opportunity to stock up on classic and ornate shoes from the spring and summer collection at up to 75% off.

Styles are from the exclusive boutique collection and include some alligator. Prices are always marked by sticker dots, which usually range from $195 for a red dot up to $375 for a green dot. Most shoes and low boots-- even highly ornate styles-- are priced at $250.

The selection of current season “it” shoes is much better at this boutique sale than the sample sale or the department stores. Then there's always the increased enjoyment of shopping in the beautiful and wonderfully civilized atmosphere. Last season we attended the sale in the late afternoon and there wasn't even a line at the door. You can click here to see all the details from last year's final markdown.

The store can get crowded but at least there isn't usually a long line to get in. Since the sale is only four days, we suggest trying to attend towards the beginning. We doubt there will be a lot of restocking. Styles and sizes always run low quickly.

Manolo Blahnik

Monday-Friday 10:30am to 6pm

The boutique will close from 2pm to 3pm to restock

Needless to say these types of discounts are irresistible. Below is a section of our top picks. Feel free to sort through the merchandise yourself but don't be surprised when you find your shopping cart maxing out your credit card.

Bottega Veneta Sample Sale

It's hard to think of a lot of benefits to being in the city during a Summer heatwave. As an external optimist we are always on the outlook for a silver lining. We suggest you grab an ice coffee and keep an eye on the annual Bottega Veneta sample sale, which kicks off Wednesday.

The sale starts early with a friends and family preview and then opens to the public at 10 am. At past sales, woven bags were snatched up quickly. Discounts were about 60% off. Shoes tend to also go very quickly, but that shouldn't be a surprise when prices range from just $100 for flats to $250 for boots.

The clothing selection is always a big draw too. Last year, tops were priced at $100, dresses were $200 and coats were $300. The problem is always that the early shoppers scoop up all the best items.

When we first started covering the BV sale, it was employees only and the merchandise assortment was epic. Now, shoppers can expect to find long lines and a questionable selection. Heading to this sale is somewhat of a crapshoot. If you do venture out, we suggest you apply extra sunscreen and abort the mission if the lines are too long.

Bottega Veneta Sample Sale
Wednesday, July 27 through Thursday, July 28
Wed 10am-7pm, Thurs 9am-7pm

Hunt & Gather: $200 Designer Shoes

The prices of designer shoes have skyrocketed over the past five years. It wasn't so long ago that standard designer pumps retailed for $600. Now it seems as if $900 is the designer benchmark. Analysts frequently debate if people are actually spending more or just waiting longer for deeper discounts.

After experiencing several seasons of sticker shock it's fun to hunt for shoes that are reduced under $300. Insiders tell us there is an deluge of designer merchandise still left in stores. Above is a great assortment of designer shoes that will cost you somewhere in the $200-range. It just proves that no matter your budget you should never settle.

Our lineup includes an impressive assortment from Francesco Russo, Charlotte Olympia, Jimmy Choo, Prada and Aquazzura. Sizes are limited in each style but if you hunt, we are sure everyone can find something to gather.

Bandier has hit the upscale athletic-wear market and has attracted the attention of everyone from Barry's Bootcamp warriors to the SLT contortionists. It's hard-core workout chic.

We recently hit the sale racks and found some really great finds that are reduced up to 60% off. We are in love with these print Ringer leggings that are reduced to $82 from $118. Over here is a Norma Kamali racker tank with pockets (genius!) for $44 from $144, gumball leggings from Terez are $30 from $72 and here is the matching sports bra for $40 from $72.

Buying new athletic wear is great motivation to keep your latest package from expiring. After all, how many pairs of $100 leggings does anyone need?

Neiman Marcus Discounts Hit 80% Off

The sale of all designer sales is here.

Neiman Marcus is now offering discounts up to 80% when you take an extra 40% off designer clothing. Other sale merchandise is reduced an extra 20% off bringing the total savings to 75% off. This promotion is available in stores and online.

Manolo Blahnik Rogustta Lace-up Pumps

The shoe sale is really quite stellar. Checking out the selection there are a lot of shoes we've been eyeing that are now reduced to irresistible prices. If you have a larger size foot, we suggest you grab these Aquazzura suede wedges asap. The price is just $166 from almost $700. These Tom Ford animal print calf-hair pumps are available in almost every size and are reduced to $400 from almost $1700. Jimmy Choo platform heels and Gianvito Rossi velvet pumps would cost even more than $200 at a sample sale.

The clothing selection is quite good too. Over here we found a Moschino 'Stop Sign' dress that's reduced all the way down to $250 from $1400,  a striking white jumpsuit from Angona is $360 from $2000 and a Givenchy draped one-shoulder fitted dress is $500 from $2300.

This sale runs through Tuesday but we don't expect prices to get any lower. We suggest you grab what you need now and wear it right away. After all, there is nothing better than wearing a great sale find while it's still in-season.

What's even better, is the site is hosting its twice-yearly sale were their finely crafted footwear is reduced 50%.

Manolo Blahnik Second Markdown 60% Off

The streets are steaming hot. What to do when you need to get out of your over air-conidtioned environment? Head over to Manolo Blahnik boutique's second markdown. The sale starts Monday and we've been told that the inventory is running practically at full stock.

This second markdown 60% off, which is much more than usual.  Surrounding department store competition must be putting pressure on the exclusive boutique. The prior markdown started after July 4th and was just a 30% discount.

We imagine that the next markdown will occur as usual in early August and will provide the best shopping opportunity of the season. The final markdown is always one of our favorite sales. Prices range from $195 to $350. Most shoes and low boots-- even highly ornate styles-- are priced at $250.

Expect to find a full assortment of shoes from the summer collection. Personally, we are waiting to make our major purchases in August. After all, everyone is out of the city. You can click here and here to see the reports from past final markdowns. (If you can't get to the boutique, you can scroll through the major Manolo markdowns we found elsewhere.)

Nordstrom Anniversary Presale

Nordstrom is known for having great sales. There are two in particular that can send a city girl shopping in the burbs: The "Half-Yearly Sale" and the "Anniversary Sale." The Half-Yearly sale is clearance, usually towards the end of the season. (Like, now.) The Anniversary Sale is a presale before the new collection hits the department store floor.

Nordstrom's Anniversary Sale starts today. The sale consists of a catalog of pre-Fall merchandise that is discounted 25% to 40% off. Each department has its own special items that are featured in the pre-Fall sale. You can sift through the catalog right here.

The presale runs from July 11th to July 21st but is limited to customers who have a Nordstrom credit card. Afterwards, on July 22, the sale opens to the general public. Prices return to normal once the sale ends in August.

Back-to-school items are especially attractive during this Nordies sale. For example, you know your kids want new Adidas sneakers for the start of school and they are right here for $35 from $55. (There is really no reason not to get them!) Over here are Hunter rain boots with buckles which are $70 from $115. There is even this Quicksilver backpack that's $45 from $60. We even spotted this Supa Monster stroller that's $260 from $350.

We are a bit choosier when picking pre-season items for ourselves but a DVF fit and flare dress caught our eye for $270 from almost $450. A casual camo jacket from Topshop is just $73 from $110 and there is an really amazing selection of workout wear with great discounts.

The selection this season is the best we can remember.  It's a novel idea to have the opportunity to buy new season merchandise at a significant savings. Identifying what you want for Fall is a bit more difficult but surely worth the effort. Sometimes it pays to plan ahead.

Amazon Prime Day... ShopBop Surprise Sale

Tuesday is sure to become the second annual (over-hyped) Amazon Prime Day. We are told that the sale will include 100,000 deals worldwide with a new 'deal' offering every five minutes.

We suggest keeping an eye on clothing and luxury beauty products, which will be an extra 30% off. The best deals, however, will come from Amazon-owned Shopbop where all designer sale merchandise will be reduced an extra 25% off starting on Wednesday. Just use the code DESIGNER25 at checkout.

None of these sales are live yet but we will be sure to update the post with our favorite picks. For now, you can browse these items that we've had our eye on since the last sale.

Intermix Deals hit 70% Off

The discounts at Intermix are climbing quickly. Right now, many clearance items are nicely discounted and then reduced an additional 30%. The discounts will soon dip more but then everything you buy will be final sale.

We found Derek Lam sailor-style bell bottoms for $260 from almost $800 and a David Coma asymmetrical dress is down to just about $500 from $2000. There's also Barbara Bui denim wedges for $200 from $585 and denim sneakers from Joshua Sanders are $200 from $425. We are really crazy about this Sara Battaglia rainbow clutch that's about $340 from $1225. (It's going to be hard to do much better than that.)

The sale is online and in stores but the last time we checked the Madison Avenue store there wasn't a lot left on the clearance racks. You might have better luck Downtown but shopping online seems easier than either!

Net-a-Porter Final Markdowns Plus 20% Off

It's now or never if you want to grab what remains on Net-A-Porter. As an extra bonus, the site is offering an additional 20% off select remaining items.

So what's left? A Frame St. Tropez tee is $52 after the extra 20% from $130, a Fendi sweatshirt with appliqués is discounted to $460 from $1800 and a Halston Heritage dress with a cape is $200 from $475.

After tomorrow the sale section disappears and the next stop is TheOutnet. Speaking of which, the discount site is now offering extra discounts on items that are already reduced. The 'spend-more-save-more' promo includes some very interesting items. This Gucci bag is an amazing deal at just $420 from almost $1200. The same goes for the assortment of Sandro clothing. Here's a Edie Parker clutch for just $425 from $1500. Here's a pretty Roksanda mini-dress for just $360 from an original price of $1710.

We love both these sales because there are plenty of inexpensive items that offer a cheap thrill and a variety of more haute merchandise that would otherwise be cost prohibitive. Just remember look at the small print. Sometimes the most discounted merchandise is final sale and it's no deal if you're not going to be able to enjoy your purchase.

Neiman Marcus Begins Final Markdown

Neiman Marcus is the latest department store to take their summer merchandise to the third markdown. We love keeping a close eye on these famous holdouts because it is an extra opportunity to grab popular merchandise that otherwise flew out of other stores the moment markdown started. We even found various items priced better than a sample sale.

The discount at Neiman Marcus is officially up to 70% off and that includes some great shoes styles too. These Saint Larurent crystal studded boots are even less expensive than Barneys and ring in at just $200 from $800. Here are dazzling Sophia Webster heels and Manolo Blahnik tweed slingbacks that are both $200 from $700. (Better than sample sale prices!) There is also a full assortment of Tom Ford shoes discounted 70% and there are full sizes runs available.

Moving onto handbags, the discount isn't as heavy handed as the shoes but there are still some great styles to browse at a 50% off discount. Here is a Saint Laurent bag with fringe bag reduced to $1300 from $2600, a Sophie Hulme tote is $425 from $850 and this insane (read: great) Stella McCartney bucket bag with hanging lipsticks and nail polish charms is $880 from $1800.

Even though this is the final markdown, that doesn't mean there won't be additional discount promotions. Neiman Marcus often surprises customers with an additional 25% off discount or buy-more-save-more incentives. No worries, we'll keep you posted.

Make Summer Hotter with These Glasses

Sunglasses, like lipstick, tends to change everything. Finding the right shade (punny right?) isn't as difficult as you may think. As a matter of fact, there are no wrong choices when it comes to picking cool sunnies. Big and strange are as much acceptable as flattering and classic.

The general idea is to find glasses that flatter your face, but true fashionistas tends to skew away from conventional wisdom. We prefer the esthetic of something that offers 'eye-popping' intrigue. Generally, we are suckers for anything a bit different-- from a cat-eye to a bright colored lenses.

Heading over to Neiman Marcus we found an entire assortment of glasses from cool indie brands like Kyme, Smoke x Mirrors and Prism.  Some of our favorites include, these Prism rimless rose gold frames for the seeing impaired or fashionable intellectuals, these Kyme flared-brow sunglasses have great lines and are also majorly on sale and these indigo lens sunglasses from Smoke x Mirrors are insanely beautiful.

Online shoppers should take advantage of the free shipping and free returns offered by Neiman Marcus. If only all stores had such a great selection and were as easy to shop as Neiman Marcus.

Pre-Fall Ahead: New Designer Arrivals

Even as we shop for the hottest discounts it's hard to ignore all the new arrivals coming into stores. We always like to take this opportunity to fall in love. After all, there's nothing like living happily ever after with your sweetest desires.

Heading to Nordstrom's newest additions, we started browsing and falling in love over and over again. We are especially taken buy JW Anderson's collection, which features orbiting layers of colors. We also can't get enough of Nordstrom's edgy selection of Rick Owens jackets. Everyone Uptown and Downtown must own a funnel collar biker jacket like this or this.

Moving on to accessories and shoes, check out MCM's new minimalistic shapes that add a bit of sophistication to the label that's better known for it's all-over logo. Alexander Wang is jumping on the guitar (bag) strap accessory trend. Check out this version with studs and grommets. Those attracted to Red Bull-like wings should direct their attention to Christian Louboutin's Samotresse sandals or the Victorina flames. Talk about hot!

As always, online shoppers should take advantage of Nordstrom's free shipping and free returns. If only all stores were as easy to shop as Nordstrom.
