Logomania Is Back: Dior, Fendi and Gucci

Is it the 80s or the 90s all over again? We can't quite figure it out. Regardless of the decade, we are sure that logomanie is back with a vengeance. As a matter of fact, just today, Dior announced it would re-release its iconic logo clad Saddle Bag. The Fendi Zucca print exploded all over influencers before its most recent runway collection. Then there's Gucci.

We urge you to think twice before  forking over several thousands for the new iterations of these logo prints. You may want to consider searching for the perfect vintage version. The result will surly be a more interesting item and for a lot less money. Over here is a Dior Saddle Bag that's just $375 and here is a Double Saddle Bag and it's just $325.

Moving onto Fendi, there is the standard Baguette that can be had for under $300. Then there are the more interesting items like this Zucca print robe that's about $500, rainboots are $273,  an oversized cardigan is $800 and a coat is $700.

At this point, everything Gucci is a logo. When looking for vintage Gucci try to be sure that the item looks fresh. For example, this 80s carry-on travel bag, a wallet on a belt and this 70s clutch are just perfect.

If anything, fashion loves extremes. So feel free to pile it on and mix it up. Just don't get too invested. Before long, we will all be anti-logo again.

VIP Preview: Save Up to 25% on Shopbop

For a long time, department stores have been luring shoppers with gift card shopping incentives. We'd prefer a straight discount over a gift card any day. It's always more attractive to save money now than be offered the promise of a gift card in the future-- especially when it's likely to expire.

Good thinking: Shopbop is offering a shopping discount incentive that increases with the more you spend. The best part is that we just got early access. You can start shopping now and use the code GOBIG18 at checkout.

We wouldn't mind using the discount on for this Leal Daccarett shirt with dramatic cuffs. Versace shield sunglasses are also perfect coming into spring. If don't have anything rainbow you can light-bright your wardrobe with these Spiritual Gangster rainbow stripe track pants. These red Proenza pointy-toe sling-back flats are perfect with jeans, a skirt or a dress.

15% off orders of $200+
20% off orders of $500+
25% off orders of $800+

You can also use the discount on sale items. This Self Portrait top is 50% off even before the promotion, a rainbow wrap top from Alice & Olivia is currently discounted 40% and this Milly jumpsuit is already 70% off. Not bad for a pre-promo discount.

The sale opens to the public on Tuesday and the promotion runs through Saturday, March 3. The next big Shopbop deal doesn't usually take place until early April.

The IT-it: Ugly Daddy Sneakers

It takes a real eye to appreciate the imperfect as much as beauty. It's for this reason fashion has always had an obsession with items that are wayward, or even, ugly. This especially goes for footwear. What else could explain Uggs, Crocs, Doc Martins, and yes, the newest trend, daddy sneakers?

They are chunky, grubby, heavy and unbelievably unflattering. They are the ultimate star of the 80s movie -- think Ferris Bueller's Day Off -- and every designer is now making them. Currently, the most popular variation is Balenciaga's Triple S. The $900 sneakers sell out as quickly as they become available. On the secondary market the Triple S goes for even twice as much.

Vetements offers a pair of norm-core daddy kicks through a collaboration with Reebok, which are arguably even more ugly than the Triple S and cost $950. There is the brightly colored Nike Lab x Comme des  Garçon for $250 but just a few sizes still remain.

This trend shows little sign of letting up. Gucci just showcased their own iteration of daddy sneakers. They are as big and bulky as this season's version but they have the added element of draped jewels. Do the gems make you want them even more?

Maybe ugly designer sneakers are just another way to entice customers with ugly designer socks. After all, it's the imperfect that makes beauty interesting.

Bogner Sample Sale Up to 75% Off

March is one of the most wonderful months to ski. It's warm, the sun shines on most days, and, in many cases in the western United States, it's the month that brings the most precipitation. It's also when ski crowds cool down and sales for skiwear begin to heat up.

As a matter of fact, our favorite skiwear brand, Bogner will begin a sample sale, on Friday, in their Soho store. Shoppers can expect to find savings of up to 75% off seasonal styles from recent collections. Plus, you can score deals on Bogner’s hood furs, helmets and boots.

During a sneak preview we spotted a black and white jacket that's now $825 from $1650, a fashion ski coat is $900 from $1800 and a silver jacket is just $300 from $750. A hat with a fur pom-pom is $110 from $220. You can click over this way to see pictures.

Supreme Becomes the Chanel of Streetwear

As the fashion glitterati tracks Italian trends from Milan, everyone from 13-year-old kids to their moms and even the Art Basel crowd will be stationed at their computers come 11am-sharp on Thursday. That's when Supreme is scheduled to 'drop' their spring collection online. Wait more than two minutes and it will all be gone.

Supreme isn't just about just skateboard decks anymore. Following its successful collaboration with LVMH, the streetwear brand has captured the attention of those normally clad with Chanel classics and Hermes Birkins. Establishing that you can spend between $5000 and $50,000 on a status bag isn't enough any more. Style arbiters are much more interested in procuring the hard-to-get.

This Spring Supreme release, is poised to be the biggest ever. The collection includes all of Supreme's famous basics from hoodies, hats and tees. The fastest selling items from the in-store release, last week, were a faux fur logo coat, the glow-in-the-dark Pile Skull pieces and the “Illegal Business Controls America” hoodie.

We have our eye on some other items--being as we are a little bit out of the Supreme demographic. Of course, there is the pinball machine, which is a great summer home decor accessory. The logo lighter is a great piece, whether you smoke or not. We love the duffle bag, which is perfect to use for airport travel because it's light and bright. It also feels so much more right-now than LV luggage. The best part is that it's just $150. You can click over this way to see all the pieces in Thursday's drop.

If you're shopping online from Supreme for the first time, don't be surprised if your credit card is flagged. The site, unsurprisingly, encounters lots of fraud. You may want to call your credit card company beforehand so that your purchase ability won't be compromised.

Luxury shoppers who feel too highbrow for this Supreme offering can hold out for the rumored Rolex collaboration. That's sure to catch just about everyone's attention.

Selling Out: Balenciaga Speed Trainers

It's not technically Spring but warmer temperatures have us thinking about the fashion season ahead. Trends usually come and go season-to-season but sometimes a hot item only picks up speed. That seems to be the case with 2017's hot Balenciaga Speed Trainers. This low key, high luxury item shows no sign of letting up on popularity.

Right now, many department stores just got new spring shipments on these knit upper 'sneakers' or have started taking pre-orders. We suggest you grab them while they are available-- especially if you wear a smaller size show and can't fit into a  men's version.

At Barneys you will find only two sizes left of the logomania version, there are still several sizes of the yellow "Power' version and the red 'Europe Collection'. Net-a-Porter only has one size of the metallic option and they are completely sold out of the basic style.

Bergdorf Goodman has a few size option in the basic style of Speed Trainers and is fully stocked in the black and yellow 'Power of Dreams'. We are sure they won't be available for very long.

Saks has a few larger women's sizes in the basic black style but is fully sold out in the white version. Matches Fashion still has a 'coming soon' notice on their Spring styles. It's probably a good idea to add them to your wishlist so that you're updated when they become available.

If this is a look you want to rock for Spring, we suggest you roll up your jeans and speed your clicker over to Bergdorfs now. It's your best bet for this hot kick.

Neiman Marcus Hits Last Call at 80% Off

If you've ever wondered what happens to all that wonderful merchandise at Neiman Marcus that goes un-purchased, we have the answer. In just a matter of weeks, it pops up at the brand's discount store, Last Call.

Neiman Marcus Last Call stores have received new arrivals direct from Neiman Marcus. The discount usually starts at about 65% off original retail but extra promotions often bring the total savings to over 80% off.

Keep your eyes open, we have heard recent reports of Moncler coats and in past years we've spotted Chanel clothing discounted almost 90% off retail. We've also heard that the discounter receives Chanel bags from time to time but doesn't display them. We suggest asking a sales manager if you're on the hunt.

Last Call online also has plenty of good finds. A Tom Ford dress is about $1000 from $5000, a Mary Katrantzou romper is $360 from $1700, a Milly off-the-shoulder blouse is $70 from over $300 and a Saint Laurent metallic minidress is $870 from $5000.

NYFW: Inside Rosie Assoulin

Rosie Assoulin has been showing at fashion week for five years and each of her collections has taken a different turn while still maintaining a focus on her unique aesthetic. As an art form, Rosie has mastered the skill of creating finally crafted clothing that is both playful and stylish.

For fall 2018, Rosie was able to find the perfect balance between her magical statement pieces and false offer a flattering options of silhouettes. In addition, the designer added outerwear and expanded her daywear options. Two of the major pattern themes were colorful patchwork marbling and Jackson Pollock-like splatter prints.

Some of our favorite pieces from this season was a sparkle wrap dress with pink piping, which was shown with a long pink duster. We also loved the 'tweed' ensemble with rainbow ribbon. The bustier was sculpted perfectly with a belt belted and shown with matching pants and jacket. For daytime, we love the simplicity of a zip-up hoodie layered under a bushy faux fur coat and we would be  remiss to ignore the high wasted ball-skirt and halter top that is layered with rainbow crystals. It's a Rosie classic. (See pictures in the jump.)

NYFW: Inside J. Mendel FW18

Breakfast tea, coffee, macaroons and treats were served in the Ladureé garden by Gilles Mendel with a side of Hollywood glamour. The collection, which showcased the designer's expert execution of fur craftsmanship, paced itself perfectly with the upcoming trends and today's elegant woman.

Gilles Mendel, adroitly pieced together patchwork coats that resulted in a lush effect. Less expert hands often turn out this type of design looking like incorrect puzzle pieces forced together. Coats were also shown with a corduroy effect and in another instance Mandel constructed the skins to look like tapestries. Our favorite piece was a heather grey, short haired mink coat that hit just above the ankle. (Seen on the model above. More pictures from the show are in the jump.)

Gowns and dressed-up pant separates played a worthy supporting roll. Mendel says he was inspired by the glamour of Katharine Hepburn and Louise Brooks. We loved how many pieces played well for day. After all, not all occasions are scheduled after dark and often times, wearing pants feels a lot more modern and chic.

The autumnal color palate played nicely into the winter collection with the rich crimsons, burnt oranges, dusty blues and elegant purples that were bright enough not to seem dismal and forbidding. We just know the two evening gowns made of tulle with layers of plates will be seen on the red carpet.

Overall, this collection felt modern and luxurious. It was wearable and elegant. We consider that a huge success, especially in the fur segment of the fashion industry that's has been caught in a decade-long downward spiral.

NYFW: Inside Anna Sui

Nostalgia played heavily into Anna Sui's most recent fall-winter 2018 collection. Bella & Gigi Hadid opened the show and channeled the days when collections were shown intimately in showrooms. In the early days of fashion, models brought attitude and lots of drama to the preview of each collection and that's what the long line-up of today's supermodels carried over to Monday's runway.

Anna Sui's rich history was celebrated appropriately with rich hues in lush fabrics like corduroy, brocades, sequins and embroidery. There was also plenty of Victorian lace, ruffles and mod denim. Prints and textures were piled on together, which resulted in a depth of layering which can only be successfully executed by a skilled professional. Click here to see more pictures.

Always keeping her main customer in mind, the collection spanned full ensembles that can glam-up a 9-to-5 cubicle or a dance floor. After all, it takes true focus for a designer to understand the drama of fashion's past and how it relates to today's attention starved girls of social media.

NYFW: Five Minutes With Dennis Basso

By Cameron Tewson of

Congratulations on the show you just previewed. Tell me more about your autumn- winter 2018 collection.

This collection’s inspiration was based on the Dennis Basso woman of the past 35 years translating some of the iconic looks for the modern woman of 2018.

Talk me through your design process and how do you source inspiration, particularly your autumn-winter 2018 collection?

Inspiration for me comes from everywhere I look, whether it's the beautiful city streets or architecture. Anywhere that there is something visual to take in. All of this slowly sends you in a direction and at that point you run with it.

Describe your autumn winter 2018 girl in three words?

Modern, International, Flirtatious

Why did you choose St. Bartholomew’s Church as your show venue?

The architecture is magnificent. It is just a beautiful way to see these gorgeous models go up and down the aisle. It’s really an iconic building in New York and I like the idea of being a piece of history.

With so many memories made, what would you say one of your career highlights has been to date?

My career highlight was when I first moved my show to be part of official NYFW.

What celebrity would you like to see if your collection and why?

I wouldn’t mind designing something for Sofía Vergara. I think she is exciting, gorgeous and embodies the feel of the Dennis Basso international woman.

You have been in the industry over 35 years, what do you think about American fashion?

American fashion is a very important part of fashion worldwide. Many years ago when I first started everyone looked to shows in Paris and Milan as setting the benchmark, but today all eyes are on American fashion. America has some of the most important designers in the world.

What do you think has happened to the design culture over the past 20 years?

More of the rules are being broken about what people wear, what time of day they are wearing and what season they are wearing. Everything has changed. It’s very modern and people are interpreting fashion in their own way.

How do you make your QVC line different to your main-line?

At QVC the price point is completely different ranging from $50-200, whereas my Madison Avenue store collection ranges from $5,000 to $300,000. I think that we’re making faux fur for television and popular place clothing which is great because it allows so many people access to the Dennis Basso look at a reasonable price point.

In 2011, you launched your first exclusive collection of bridal designs, what made you decide to enter the bridal

Bridal is a very fun area because you’re really dealing with probably a woman’s happiest moment. There are trends in bridal, but at the same time it gives you the liberty to design many different looks and for many different style brides from the princess bride – to the sexy bride – to the sophisticated bride. The list goes on and on, and what you’re really doing when a woman is getting married her wedding dress really is her red carpet.

NYFW: Inside Bottega Veneta FW18

By Cameron Tewson of

Bottega Veneta’s Tomas Maier took his show on the road this season, leaving the house’s Milan home and presenting in New York, at the American Stock Exchange – which, given the market’s current state, is pretty ironic. The reason behind the move? The brand’s impressive new Madison Avenue flagship, set in a sprawling townhouse on the Upper East Side.

Set designed by Broadway set-designer, Scott Pask mimicked the store somewhat—a modernist apartment setup with tables and a lounge area. With a superstar cast of models (Kaia Gerber, Adwoa Aboah, Gigi Hadid, Roberto Rossellini Jr.) lapped the space in Bottega’s ultra-lux and increasingly youthful wares before taking a seat at a table or on a sofa to chat with their peers. Maier offered everything from lush pajama-style ensembles and robes to bright, monochrome suits to tactile dresses, intarsia sweaters, and more whose patterns abstractly mimicked the New York skyline.

The men’s offering was infused with a streetwear sensibility, with hooded jackets and that tiger-slash-zebra print we’ve been seeing so much of this season. After the sumptuous, slightly Grecian velvet finale gowns walked, Azealia Banks’ “212” began to blare and one of the set’s monoliths rose to the sky, revealing a bar populated by models. Guests were invited to the stage to sip cocktails and mingle with Maier and the cast. It was a New York moment to be sure.

V-Day Global Fashions Sale

Do you know what always puts us in a good mood? Something Italian, that's very expensive but sourced at a phenomenal price. Next week, we plan on being in a very, very good mood as we kick-off this Valentine's season with a sample sale that we're sure you will love.

Starting Monday, Global Fashions will kick-off one of its famous sample. The headlining brands include M Missoni, Red Valentino/ Valentino, Marchesa, Moschino and Anya Hindmarch. Shoppers will be able to snag 80% off European designer clothing and real couture. Shoes, accessories and handbags will be reduced by 70%.

The selection will contain a great assortment for both mens and women with a full range of sizes. Expect to find plenty of Rockstud bags and shoes, designer jewelry and accessories. You can see a few pictures of what will be included in the sale over this way. Some great gift ideas include a silk and cashmere scarf that's reduced to $450 from $1500, a Rockstud bracelet that's $112 from $375 or a leather rocketed belt that's $210 from $745.

Sweetheart gifts are always nice but these sales are a great opportunity to fill your wardrobe with some serious fashion at killer prices. It's Fashion Week, after all. There is nothing quite like real European couture-- especially when it doesn't cost the same price of a small car.

In light of Valentine's Day, Global Fashions is showing Mad-Spy readers a little extra love. Mention Madison Avenue Spy and receive an additional 10% off your total purchase. Now that's what we call true love. Xoxo

Bergdorf Goodman: Prada, Canada Goose and Moncler Markdowns

The groundhog says that we have just six more weeks of Winter but we all know that we'll be bundled up even longer. Just before coat fatigue sets in, Bergdorf Goodman has started their winter coat markdown. Throughout the store puffers, parkas and coats are all reduced 40%.

The sad news is that there are no women's Moncler jackets included in sale. A sales person said that there were only a few very small sizes left over after our last big frost. If you go across the street to the men's store, however, you there are several styles of Monclers on markdown. This red and black style is $1046 from $1400, this navy jacket is just a few dollars more and a version with a shearling collar is about $1900 from $2500. You can see pictures of the men's Moncler jackets here.

Back at the woman's store, we found a few styles of Canada Goose Down reduced 40%. One style with a white fox trimmed hood is reduced to $600 from about $1000. You can see pictures of what other variations are available.

In the Prada department, we found our favorite variety of puffers also discounted 40%. A navy puffer with Burgundy accents with an oversized fox collar  is reduced to $1600 from $2700. There is another version that is burgundy with navy accents. If ordering online, know that this jacket ran very, very small. You should consider sizing up one (or even two) sizes.

Other brands included in the coat sale are Vetements, Fendi, Henro and more. The online selection is pretty close to what you will find in the store. We think there may even be more sizes available if you're shopping on the website.

NYFW: Inside Tom Ford FW18

Everything about Tom Ford is sexy. It's a particular flavor of sexy that draws the curious and causes a slight discomfort. After so many years of turning out sexy collections, we wondered if the designer could could still evoke the same reaction from customers.

We find that Tom Ford often leans on his glam-90s classics, which made an era of Gucci and himself famous. For this collection, there were lots of Tom Ford staples but the designer also added plenty of 2018 twists. Some of the show's highlights included, puffer jackets in a variety of textures and lengths. The outerwear was never exaggerated enough to be considered oversized but would nonetheless attract the eyes of streetwear hype-junkies. The overcoats, were classically rich and sexy. (Click here for more pictures from the fashion show.)

The collection also incorporated several Instagram-ready hues, like soft and bright yellows, pink, lavender, orange and aqua. The variety is sure to attract the look-at-me generation of Tom Ford fans-- millennials. As a matter of fact, we didn't see a lot of the dark and sexy suits that have always defined the Tom Ford brand. Instead we were served yellow, pink and blue zebra and python print pants and sports jackets with a scattering of classic patterns, like houndstooth. (More pictures are in the jump.)

Part of Ford's success has always been his unabashed nod to the commercial side of fashion. For the show's last segment, the music turned to Lana Del Rey's Young and Beautiful. Dozens of male models walked the runway in nothing but underwear. No doubt, this was a concession given to a highly lucrative licensee.

As Lana Del Ray sings we know that TF is quietly asking:
Will you still love me
When I'm no longer young and beautiful?

He already knows the answer:
I know you will, I know you will
I know that you will

And yes, we will.

Surprise: Neiman Marcus Discounts Hit 85%

We were very excited when Neiman Marcus started to offer an extra 20% off clearance. Then today,  the discounts went lower than we have ever seen. Right now, clearance shoppers can save an additional 30% off clearance merchandise. The big treat is that the online clearance section is scattered with great designer items and the total discount tops 85% on some pieces.

Upon browsing, we found a Victoria Beckham stripped dress is $500 from $2900 and a Brandon Maxwell mini-dress is $400 from $2400. The discount among the shoes isn't quite as high and sizes are scarce but it still makes sense to cherry pick. Balenciaga thigh-high boots are $500 from $1160, Rene Caovilla Butterfly Suede Strass sandals are $370 from about $1175 and Givenchy suede mules are $312 from $995.

The promotion started today and will run through Wednesday at 10am EST. Neiman Marcus doesn't do these extra 30% off sales too often (or ever). We suggest you take advantage while the opportunity presents itself. It might take some digging and sorting but there are some great treasures.

Intermix Winter Clearance Offers 80% Off

Just when you thought all the good markdowns were over, we found a sale to motivate us to work through Friday. Today, Intermix started a winter clearance sale where discount merchandise is reduced an extra 50% off. The sale includes lots of items that can easily fit into your wear-now wardrobe.

We found these RtA leather plants with gold stars that come to $400 from almost $1145, a Caroline Constas cable knit sweater is $200 from $500 and Aquazzura thigh-high velvet boots are $250 from $1000. (As a matter of fact, a lot of shoes is reduced 80%. Not bad!) A Cinq å Sept mini-dress ($190 from about $500) or a Caravan silver sequined dress ($185 from $490) are to spice up your Valentines evening wardrobe.

The sale is online and in stores through Saturday. The Madison Avenue boutique has some of the sale items listed on the site but we always find that we have better luck Downtown. Overall, shopping online is the easiest but, take note, all sale items aren't returnable.
