Net-A-Porter: 15% Off Designer Shoes

This must be the week for nominal discounts on big designer brands. Yesterday, we unveiled a 15% off discount at Barneys and today we uncovered a designer shoe promotion at Net-A-Porter that can save you 15% off.

You can use the code SHOPSTYLE15 to engage the discount at checkout. Remember, it's only shoes and some brands like Louboutin, Gucci, Prada, Balenciaga, and Valentino are excluded but there are still lots of luxury items from which to apply the savings.

You can apply the promotion to Fendi. These Velvet slides are almost sold out and could be the perfect application for the discount. Saint Laurent is another brand included in the shoe promo and Opyum pumps aren't usually found on sale.

Other great shoe opportunities include Roger Vivier, Golden Goose, and Gianvitto Rossi. We suggest focusing on items that don't usually go on sale or shoes that you know you will need before markdown season in May. It's actually just a great excuse to browse, even if you don't end up with anything.

Bogner Winter Sample Sale

It's been a fantastic ski season, which means you've likely had a great time shredding the slopes. With memories not too far removed, it's easy to know what you need and what needs to be replaced. We highly suggest you take advantage of Bogner's Winter sample sale.

The brand is really one of the best resources for fashionable and functional ski-gear and cold weather accessories. We are told that merchandise will be reduced up to 70% off retail. The selection will include items from ski, golf, fashion, boots, shoes, helmets and fur trim. Most of the selection will be comprised from the recent Winter and past Spring collections.

You should take advantage of these discounts while the assortment is plentiful. You know if you don't, you will regret it next Winter.

Barneys: 15% Off New Fendi, Delvaux, Burberry & More

A loyal Barneys sales associate tipped us off to a secret code that can save you 15% off on almost everything at the store. Use the code FEB15 to engage the discount at checkout. Some brands like Chanel, Gucci and Celine are excluded but there are still lots of luxury items from which to apply the savings.

Riccardo Tisci's new Burberry collection just hit stores and we are considering this signature belt bag with the new logo, which is included in the promotion. These plaid slingbacks are also a big consideration but you might want to move fast because they are almost all sold out.

We were most surprised to find that Delvaux is also included in the promo. If you've been coveting a Tempete bag we suggest you bounce for it now. We've never seen a discount on any of these bags and 15% off an MM size can save you over $750.

The promotion also works with Fendi, which translates to a $200 savings on the limited edition Fendi x Fila sweatshirt or you might want to go for Fendi logo crossbody that's still on preorder. If you've been considering pair Balenciaga Triple S or Speedtrainers --now would be the time. Other brands you can use to apply the code include Saint Laurent, Balmain, and Loewe.

A 15% savings isn't usually earth shattering but some of these items really just arrived at the store and won't make it to sale season. We suggest you pick one or two pieces that you've been eyeing and enjoy the little bit of savings. The promotion sale ends on March 2.

The IT-it: Chanel Tweed Jackets

As far as I'm concerned Marie Kondo doesn't know anything about joy. Could you imagine if Iris Apfel colonized all her belongings and abandoned anything that wasn't necessary? Who would Anna Dello Russo be without her archives? The world would definitely be less fortunate if Peggy Guggenheim simply tossed her Man Ray dresses.

If you want to know the meaning of real joy, it's opening your closet and wearing an item you've had for over a decade. I will never give up my embroidered Future Ozbeck bellbottom jeans that I've had for over two decades but only worn three times. My ridiculous buffalo leather Tom Ford skirt with jeweled rings down the seams doesn't even fit but I don't care. These items are a part of who I am.

This season, I am most excited to dust off my old Chanel 90s jackets. The combination of Karl Largerfeld's passing and the resurrection of the 90s is the perfect recipe for the rebirth of the tweed jacket. The updated look is paired with rolled up boyfriend jeans. You can also go full-on Paris Hilton 90s and pair yours with a miniskirt.

Chanel vintage is much more alluring than anything new. If you don't already have a Chanel jacket on on hand, I suggest you begin stalking Ebay and TheRealReal. Just don't go too crazy and overspend. I would suggest keeping your purcahse between $300 and $800.

Once last piece of advice: be thoughtful about what you buy. I might not subscribe to the Marie Kondo mathod of abandoning your belongings but I do believe that you should really love everything you own. Luxury fashion is less about accumulation and more about life enhancment.

VIP Preview: Save Up to 25% on Shopbop

For a long time, department stores have been luring shoppers with gift card shopping incentives. We'd prefer a straight discount over a gift card any day. It's always more attractive to save money now than be offered the promise of a gift card in the future-- especially when it's likely to expire.

Good thinking: Shopbop is offering a shopping discount incentive that increases with the more you spend. The best part is that we just got early access. You can start shopping now and use the code GOBIG19 at checkout.

We wouldn't mind using the discount on for this Ulla Johnson white ruffled dress that can cost as little as $260. A long trench or duster is a must-have for spring we are in love with this trench from Monse. We haven't tried any jeans from Agolde but these jeans seem to be generating a cosmic pull. Beaded bags started to trend in the fall and they are coming back with a vengance for Spring. This Shrimps style is the trend leader.

15% off orders of $200+
20% off orders of $500+
25% off orders of $800+

You can also use the discount on sale items. This No. 21 sequin dress is 70% off even before the promotion, a Pascal black gingham trench is currently discounted 60% and these Golden Goose sneakers are already 30% off.  Not bad for a pre-promo discount.

The sale opens to the public on Tuesday and the promotion runs through Saturday, March 2. The next big Shopbop deal doesn't usually take place until early April.

Moda Operandi VIP 30% Off

Moda Operandi ended it's sale season a few weeks earlier than usual. We were a little sad to see some pieces go but we never have a problem finding something new. For this reason, we were very excited to be given a VIP link for 30% off some new collection items.

The best part of this sale is that there are lots of bags from Boyy,  Danse Lente, Marni, and Cult Gaia are included in the private sale. You can use this link to access the selection and then use the code PRIVATE30 to engage the discount at checkout.

Some of the best deals are the Boyy bags. This black version with a lizard buckle strap comes to $1250 from $1665. This brown-pink Danse Lenti combo bag is perfect for spring and is just $370 from $520 and this Cult Gaia classic in red is about $200 from $280.

Take note, many of these items are selling out as we are writing this post. We suggest you hop over asap and not spend too much time stalking.

Nordstrom Late Winter Sale (Including Moncler)

Nordstrom just kicked off a late winter sale where discounts run to 50% off. The big standout is the great selection of Moncler jackets. Unfortunately, the markdown on most Moncler items is just 25% off but even small discounts can add up to hefty savings on big-ticket purchases.

Some of the highlights include this metallic quilted puffer that's now $1200 from $1600. All sizes are still available. This Moncler Genious in red with velvet patches is $935 from $1250 and a black velvet style is $1725 from $2300.

Other outerwear standouts include this Ienki Ienki hooded down jacket for $734 from $2225 and this red style is reduced 50% off.  There is also a large selection of merchandise from the collaboration between Nordstrom and Something Navy's Ariel Charnas. This cropped jacket is just $112 from $190, white heels are $71 from $120 and mommy and daughter matching pajamas are $20 a set.

This Nordstrom sale runs through February 24. We are just waiting for the Louboutin discounts to hit the site but that might just be wishful thinking.

Bergdorf Goodman Extra 30% Off Sale (Moncler Too)

We initially thought there would be a few good President Day sales, but there is nothing. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. It appears as if the early sale season has translated to a holiday weekend with no good retail sale merchandise.

Fine, there's nothing to buy right now but just wait for Tuesday. Bergdorf Goodman will begin an online sale where all sale merchandise is an additional 30% off. The best part is that Bergdorf just added Moncler to its online sale section and we believe that the French brand will be included in the extra discount. The extra discount would bring most of the Moncler selection to 50% off retail.

We would definitely add this turquoise puffer to our cart as it will be just about $600 after the additional discount. This kid's hat will be $110 from $240 and this girl's hooded jacket will be about $330.

Some other sale items we've been watching include, this Prada bag that will be $900 from $2500,  Manolo booties that will be $300 from $875,  Manolo fur trimmed mules for $340 from $975. We also added this Prada puffer to our cart for $1200 and these See by Chloe cropped pants for $120 from $375.

We wouldn't suggest sale-ing through the store. All the discount merchandise has already been shipped out. We are just waiting for it to officially upload to Neiman Marcus Last Call.  This promotion will run through Saturday.

We are all just getting over the heartbreak and disappointment of Valentine's Day but there is a reason why retail therapy is a highly recommended component of psychotherapy. (It is? Right?) Missoni accessories and other Italian designer shoes and bags, which will be reduced 72% off. Clothing markdowns will range from 70% to 80% off retail.

We also saw limited sizes of Highlands, Tielands, and Midlands. You can click over this way to see pictures.

Shop375 Launches: Discounted Chanel, Dior, Fendi & More

The occupation of Fashion Spy has its perks. One of the highlights is getting discounts on even the newest and most wanted items of the season. For years, Shop375 has been my personal secret source on getting current season Chanel, Fendi, and Balenciaga.

You wouldn't believe the number of things I've amassed from the Shop375.  After years and years of requests, Shop375 is giving us the best Valentines day gift we can imagine and launching its online store to the public. Right now, you can save 20% on just-in-stores Chanel shoes. We already put dibs on these Chanel leather espidrilles that are $635 from a retail price of $795.

The discounts on Dior are even better. Classic Dior slingbacks are never found on sale but are discounted 20% here and you can also apply a 10% off code when you register with the site. This Dior leather mini shoulder bag is $1895 from $4525 and a gorgous matte studded Lady Dior bag is $3395 from $4900. The site also has a Fendi/Fila Kan I for $1995 from $2690 and 85mm classic Christian Louboutin pumps are $500 from $700.

You will also find a great assortment of streetwear for both men and woman. There are selections from Amiri, Stone Island, and Marcelo Burlon. Men will also be thrilled to score Canali suits for 60% off and Cucinelli for 70% off.

The site just publically launched today and is running a giveaway on a Goyard wallet. We would suggest entering to win and bookmarking the site for frequent stalking. I got a sneak peek of what's to come and think you will be just as excited as me. After all, it's hard to find discounts on authentic, in-season merchandise and now it's online and accessible.

Inside the Paul Andrew Sample Sale

The Paul Andrew sample sale doesn't officially kick off until tomorrow but we were able to snag a sneak peek at this traditional showroom sample sale. It's not so often that we find ourselves shopping in a showroom anymore.

Usually, sales are hosted at an off-site location by a third party. The highlight is that a classic sample sale offers tremendous value but the downside is that sample sizes are limiting. This Paul Andrew sale exemplifies that highs and lows.

Prices start at just $25 and top out at $250. Most of the selection falls into the category of $150 for samples and $250 for open stock and boots. The disappoint only sets in if you aren't a sample size 37. Those who fit into a lucky size 37 will be overwhelmed with a large variety of gorgeous shoes mostly from Spring seasons. Shoes used for photo shoots or runways usually come in a 39 and 40s with scored and scuffed bottoms fell into the $25 segment.

We have pictures from inside the sample sale right here. We were thrilled to spot Rhea Ankara slingbacks (the ones with the sphere heel), Banner ankle boots (short boots with a folded top), and lots more. You can click here to see a great assortment of discounted Paul Andrew shoes online and there are lots of size options too,.

The only replenishment will be from borrows and fashion week returns. We suggest you attend this sale early regardless of shoe size.

Moncler on Sale NOW

If I had a dollar for every time a salesperson told me that Moncler wasn't going on sale this season...well, I wouldn't be writing this post. (Okay. Yes, I would. It's a labor of love.)

As we always anticipated, Moncler will go on sale and it has. Today started a coordinated markdown on Moncler outerwear. That means that local retailers throughout the city all put the French puffer jackets on sale today. Online shoppers should focus on Saks Fifth Avenue.

In the woman's department, the chevron design puffer is now $862 from $1150, a velvet style is $1237 from $1650 and a utility style with a fur collar is $1725 from $2300. The selection is just as good for men. We suggest you grab any of the styles offered by Saks right now because a full range of sizes are still available. That won't be the case for very long.

Bergdorf Goodman carries many of the same styles but they weren't put on markdown last year. The men's department was the only sale destination for Moncler. Expect to find a rack right on the first floor of the men's store. Don't be surprised if you also find Canada Goose and Prada filling those men's racks too. Online we found a woman's Prada puffer with a drawstring that's $1812 from $3020 and a men's Stone Island jacket is 50% off or $614.

The Moncler edit is just as good at Neiman Marcus. Here is a men's logo Moncler jacket for $1785 from $2380, a woman's blue puffer with contrasting oversized logo is $937 from $1250, and a toned down version in red is $1200 from $1600. Our favorite is this chevron 80s throwback style for $860 from $1150 and here is a girl's (8-14yo) style for $690. This herringbone print with a fur collar is very tempting too at $1700 from $2300.

Don't feel overwhelmed. A big markdown like this can be a lot to digest. We created a link with all the sale options. Click here to review a full assortment of all the Moncler. We hope that seeing everything in one place will reduce shopping confusion.

Other brands to keep an eye out include winter items from Fendi, Henro and more. Online selections can be tricky. It's best to keep a browser handy.  It might also not be a bad idea to take a screen shot of this post to show the next sales person who tells you Moncler never goes on sale.

NYFW: Inside Sally LaPointe

Sally LaPointe is well known for catching the eye by sending monochrome ensembles down the runway with a wide array of texture and shine. It's the designer's keen use for color and tone that leads us to fall in love every season. It would be a huge incentive to attend the show already armed with a Pantone color wheel or even an oversized box of Crayola crayons.

This season, Sally LaPointe's color stories included, Matcha green, Irish buttery white, Garnet red, orchid, Dijon gold and, of course, blackest black. Each of these shades brings complexity to each outfit and enhances the layering of sequins, shine, fur, and satin. The only pitfall is that to achieve the same look you would need to purchase the entire head-to-toe ensemble. There is no way to look-for-less any of these outfits and that might be the genius of Sally LaPointe.

In the show notes, the designer says she drew references from Elvis' 1968 comeback special and applied the aesthetic to modern day dressing. The Fall 2019 variation included newsboy hats, relax-fit belted pants and faux wrap midi-skirts with a high slit. Click here to see pictures from inside the show.

As accessories go, we especially liked LaPoint's use of utility belts. It was an urban element with a high-end twist. That's not surprising there is nothing low-rent about any of the looks shown on Tuesday. We would be scared to ask for more details about those died-to-match Manolos.

Monday, February 11, 2019

NYFW: Inside Anna Sui

Anna Sui is always a little bit of sparkle, a dash of rock and roll and lots of texture. This season was not so different except for that the designer drew inspiration from what seems to be a combination of brightly colored pop-art and traditional Japanese anime with a twist of school girl.

Anna Sui's rich history was celebrated appropriately with rich hues in lush fabrics like jacquard, metallics, tweeds, shimmer, and sequins. There was also plenty of velvet, ruffles and faux fur. Prints and textures were piled on together, which resulted in a bright combination of tone-on-tone layering which can only be successfully executed by a skilled professional. Click here to see more pictures.

Playing to a packed audience, the collection was highlighted with appearances by Bella Hadid and Kaia Gerber. aSpanned full ensembles that prove that you can be from 9-to-5 without even making a stop before hitting the dance floor. After all, it takes true focus for a designer to understand the drama of fashion's past and how it relates to today's attention starved girls of social media.

Mining Through BarneysWarehouse 70% Off

Fashion week is turning out to be a bust. Sale merchandise has dried up, shriveled and disintegrated to dust. At this point in the season, discount stores are the best places to shop. You’ll find mega-reduced old merchandise and adequately discounted "new deliveries".

BarneysWarehouse seems to have some offer some good shopping options with reductions at 70% off. Over here is a denim frayed tote bag, which will serve you well in function and trend going into Summer and it's reduced to just $53. A Palm Angles track jacket is $195 from $650, a Zimmerman dress is $225 from $745 and this camel color Cordery trench from Vis å Vis is $435 from $1450.

It doesn't seem like this past Winter's merchandise has been transferred over to the site yet. When it does, expect discounts of just 50% to 60% off. It's a far cry from the markdowns of 82% off that we saw at Barneys later this season. As we know, what goes up, must come down.

Weekend Shopping: The OutNet Extra 50% Off

As we head through the weekend it's hard to pick just one place to focus your shopping attention. If limited to a single online destination, we would have to choose TheOutnet. Right now, the online discount site is offering an extra 50% off already reduced merchandise.

Take note, this promotion isn't the windfall of the twice-yearly clearance sale but we were able to spot some very good finds at 70% to 80% off retail. PVC is all the rage and we can't argue with Red Valentino at 80% off retail. This PVC jacket comes to only $200 from $1000. An L'Agence black leather mini skirt comes to $120 from $600, a Love Moschino coat with a fur collar is $165 from $800 and a Mother of Pearl sweater is $106 from $475.

TheOutnet's in-house line, Iris & Ink is also included in this markdown. Most of the collection is 50% off. The best deal is most deffinitly the assortmnt of Pucci merchandise, which is mostly 80% off retail. This silk print dress is $600 from $1280,  an adorbale bubblegum pink crossbody bag is $280 from $1075, and this sequined dress is just $500 from $3700.

The sale started a few days ago, so there are limited size options on some items. There are plenty of sizes left in these Bordeaux velvet Laurence Decade boots that are $190 from $840, Gianvitto Rossi platform sandals are $225 from $825 and Marco de Vincenzo heels are $180 from $760.

As merchanide dries up at at our local stores it's always good to find alterntiifve destinations point your browser.  Just remember to scroll responsibly. This OutNet sale runs through the weekend.

NYFW: Inside Tom Ford FW18

Each time Tom Ford shows a collection, fashion reporters say the designer is pulling reference from the glam-90s, the earlier era of Studio 54 and sexy times at Gucci. At some point, it's time for us all to agree that this is simply the Tom Ford aesthetic. Sexy enough to be worn on a reunion show of Real Housewives and rich enough to be chi-chi-chi Beverly Hills.

This season Tom Ford showed all his staples; sexy suiting for women, long slender gowns, unbuttoned blouses, luxe velvets, and opulent furs. Monochrome ensembles, street-wear inspired hoodies and puffers, and sparkle were among the independent variables for Fall '19.

The collection also incorporated several Instagram-ready hues, like rich red and blue jewel tones for day and softer lavender and silver for the night. Of course, there were plenty of black ensembles that can slink into the sexy shadows of a Tom Ford orchestrated evening. Our favorite pieces where the gowns that featured oversized chains draped around the shoulders and backs. A new handbag is also imminent utilizing the oversized chain accent. (Click for more pics.)

The designer omitted some of his staple animal prints, like zebra, leopard, and lizard which is an understandable method to avoid self-inflicted clichés. In a new season of Tom Ford, customers can seamlessly embrace their inner hypebeast and hold court in Andy's clubhouse.

Inside Manolo Blahnik's Final Markdown (Pics!)

The Manolo Blahnik boutique's final clearance sale started today and we couldn't wait to see the treasures with our own eyes. This sale is legendary for the plush discounts that top 75% off. This season, the markdown categories were simplified and start at a higher price point. Don't worry, it may work out in your favor. We found several shoe styles that price out at about the same as the notorious sample sale.

As usual, the shoes are marked by colored dots. This year, prices start at just $225 and go up to $450 for boots and exotic pumps. In past seasons, the prices started at $175 but locating that rock bottom style was nearly impossible. We welcome the more straight forward pricing.

This season, the $225 level encompasses most shoe styles, including flats, heels and even some embellished styles. The next category is $295, we only saw one or two pairs that were ornate evening shoes. The $350 category contains anything Hangisi, Hangisi-type, and assorted boots. The last category, $450 encompasses exotic skin shoes and ornate boots. (Click for pics.)

The sale has of fancy ankle boots. Most of the basic shoes we saw are in a variety of suede. Most styles at the sale are still full price at department stores. We spotted these scalloped flats in suede ($225), lace pumps in various colors ($225) and assorted colors of suede BB shoes ($225). You can click over this way to see lots of pictures.

There was a line all Monday morning, with waits spanning up to an hour. The atmosphere inside was pleasant despite some hoarding and overbuying. Most customers left with two or three pairs of shoes. There are also several extra salespeople were on hand to assist with the higher volume. We must say that even with the stressful crowds, the salespeople are wonderful, helpful and warm.

Before you go, be sure to be mindful of the hour. The store closes at 2pm to restock and reorganize the merchandise. It's always a bummer to forget and show up to find locked doors. The sale goes until Thursday.

Neiman Marcus: Extra Discount 85% Off

This Superbowl thing is even more boring than usual and you know you're in real trouble when the half-time show causes you to recoil. Scrolling designer deals seem to be a much better sport and we know exactly where you should play the field.

Starting Monday  NOW, Neiman Marcus is hosting a promotion where sale merchandise is an extra 30% off. In some instances, the most reduced items are already 75% off and the additional promotional discount brings the total markdown to 85% off. It's really almost hard to believe. It's part of the reason we are so picky about sample sales.

In the shoe department, the total discount is 80% off on a large variety of shoes. Glitter booties might not be your thing but it's hard to pass up this  Saint Laurent pair for $271 from $1300. They can look cute with a pair of jeans and a pink sweater. These Stuart Weitzman velvet low boots will come to just $120 from $575. Perfect to pair with cropped jeans or pants on a cold day. How can you deny yourself Balmain slides for $103 from $500, Aquazzura mules for $180 from $865 or Valentino hiking boots for $400 from $1600?

We admit, we have a little crush on Gabriela Hearst. The quality of the fabrics and the designs are both so amazing but the prices are insanity. Now is a great time to snag an item that might otherwise jeopardize a mortgage payment. Here is a croc embossed leather trench is $872 from $5000, a corduroy blazer will be $440 from $1300 and a houndstooth long sweater coat will be $440 from $2500. Some other high fashion considerations include a Red Valentino gown for $700 from $4200, Oscar de aa Renta tee dress for $500 from $2900 and a Marchesa lace dress for $530 from $3000.

Obviously, none of us need closet filler at any price but it's hard to say no an item you know will be useful. We suggest you begin browsing now. The promotion just went live and the best items are already selling out.  The sale will run through Tuesday and that will be the last of this season's big clearance sales.

Breaking: Manolo's Final Markdown

It's time to start planning your pregame strategy and we aren't talking about the Superbowl. We are referring to Manolo Blahnik's final price markdown!!

Starting Monday, Manolo will begin their last markdown of the season. This four-day sale is the perfect opportunity to stock up on classic and ornate shoes from the designer's winter collection at up to 75% off.

Sale styles are from the exclusive boutique collection and include a variety of Hangisi styles. Prices are always marked by sticker dots, which usually range from $175 and go up to $450. Last Winter, most shoes and low boots are priced at $250, Hangisi styles were $295 and low-boots and ankle boots were $350.

The boutique sale isn't quite as inexpensive as sample sale prices but the selection and convince are well worth the cost. We pulled some good Manolo deals you can find online but it's nearly impossible to find Hangisi styles at prices this low.

The markdown will run through Thursday, February 7. Once the sale ends the Blahnik boutique will close for a breather. The planned re-org will continue until Monday, February 11th, when the store will reopen with the new collection.

The boutique is often congested during this markdown but at least there aren't usually long lines to get in. The sale will only run for four days and styles and sizes run low quickly. If you're looking for a great deal we suggest you switch out of your heels and take a run over to the boutique asap.

For a full rundown of past final markdowns, you can check out our past story from last Winter here.
