The IT-It: Tie Dye Beyond Baby Boomers

We've been watching the evolution of the tie-dye trend for the past year and have been curious as to how it's going to pan out. Just recently we've started to see a kaleidoscope of neon colors hitting the wardrobes of influencers and the trend is only gaining velocity.

It's likely that your Instagram feed has already been populated with tie-dye pieces from Prada, Proenza Schouler, Stella McCartney, and R13. This trend can quickly go from Coachella 2019 to Grateful Dead Baby Boomer.

The key to owning luxury designer tie-dye is to focus on special technique or unique pieces. For instance, we love this Rosie Assoulin halterneck ($995) that's tie-dyed by hand to resemble watercolor brushstrokes. This Raquel Allegra tank ($220) is a less formal option with a similar effect. We also love this Marques Almeida asymmetrical skirt ($620) that can be paired with a black tank top or blouse for a sophisticated tie-dye twist.  Shiloh tie dye sunhat ($128) is perfect for the beach and this Amen printed top ($182) is more than a rocker tee if only for the juxtaposition of a delicate lace sleeve.

Notice how we have avoided tcliché tees and sweatshirts. We suggest you go with budget options for these items. The choices are numerous. We really like this bright pink and yellow beach coverup from Asos that's only $45 and this Ramon's tee ($26) can be easily zhuzhed with a few scissor snips.

For the real thing, you can hit eBay. Here is a vintage Grateful Dead tee ($39) or a reissue of the 1975 Led Zeppelin tour tee ($19). If you really feel like going crazy you can opt for this Nirvana 1990s tie-dye long sleeve shirt ($1300). Before you go for the new season of Prada tie-dye, you can look for past collections. Here is a fit and flare dress ($425) or a classic skirt ($22).

We think this tie-dye fashion trend is just getting started and will spill over to the Fall and Winter. We can easily see a plethora of tie-dye puffers and cashmere sweaters. While you're building your wardrobe, try to think of what will look good in 2020 and not wonder into Strawberry Fields Forever.

Barneys Warehouse Sale 85% Off

The thermometer is just starting to act like Spring and a nice discount can only add the needed warmth to get you in the mood for the new season. Right now, Barneys Warehouse is offering extra discounts up to an additional 60% off sale merchandise. The added savings brings the markdown to 85% on some items.

Spotting this Valentino Rockstud classic black bag reduced to only $785 from $3560 really brightened our day. That's what we call a no-brainer. Seems like Spring boots have become an acceptable thing and this pair from Altuzarra is even white with printed flowers. At $200 from $900, it might even be worth buying to wear even a handful of times. These Paul Andrew sandals are $176 from $800 and you get two-Spring-trends-in-one-- PVC and neon.

Take note, there are very limited sizes left on these clearance items. We suggest you do a size sort before jumping in. Good thing that the Valentino bag is one size fits all!

Shopbop's First Big Markdown

Online retailers don't quite run sale season the same way traditional store calendars negotiate markdowns. Shopbop for example, just started what we would consider, the first big round of markdowns. Meanwhile, most products are still full price at nearly everywhere you shop.

Digging in, we went straight for Spring merchandise. Hayward is one of our favorite independent bag designers and the entire selection is still full price at Bergdorfs.  Here is a mini-patchwork Hayward bag that's $413 from $600. Cult Gaia bags are already reduced by about 30%. This acrylic lavender bag is $208 from $300 and the macrame variety is the same price.  There is also an assortment of Staud bags reduced 40%.

Among the more designer-ie items are Golden Goose sneakers that are reduced to $440 from $585. A Caroline Constas jumpsuit with this season's palms print is reduced to $430 from $720. A Kenzo bum bag is $150 from $225 and this Monse flared brushed cotton jacket that's $500 from $1700.

If the item you're watching isn't included in this markdown it is likely to be added in the next sale drop. Usually, the site adds another batch of merchandise to its sale during the first week of April.

Neiman Marcus Hits NYC (Online 20% Off Promo)

Neiman Marcus started an online promotion where you can save an additional 20% off sale items, which brings the discount near 80% off on a large assortment of merchandise. While shopping online we found some great buys, including this blazer from Gabriela Hearst, a Tom Ford metallic blouse, and a Summer romper from Shoshanna. (Take note, Bergdorfs is running a similar promotion but the extra discount is 30% off. You can see the full post over this way.) This online sale is nice but we thought it would be timelier to take this opportunity to actually explore the newly opened Hudson Yards Neiman Marcus.

New Yorkers are naturally a negative bunch. We are adverse to change, highly opinionated and love the nostalgia of "old" New York. While highly judgmental, we must admit that Neiman Marcus did an excellent job visualizing a retail environment for 2019 and staying true to its bloodlines. The store is spacious, bright and thoughtful.

The NYC Neiman Marcus is everything you could desire from a suburban department store-- and we aren't saying that as a slur. Frankly, we don't need another Barneys, Saks or Bergdorfs. What we did get is a space that carries lots of luxury fashion that feels welcoming and safe. There isn't much experimentation as far as designers. There is no Commes de Garcons, Del Pozo or Rossie Assoulin--but you can hop over to Forty-Five-Ten for all of that.  What you will find is a large offering of Etro, Dolce & Gabbana and The Row.

One criticism: In addition to the main floor Chanel boutique, would have liked to see a bit more top tier luxury clothing brands. A little Valentino, Gucci, Givenchy and Dior ready-to-wear would go a long way establishing this Neiman Marcus as an everything-you-need shopping destination.  Don't worry, there are designer handbags and shoes galore. (We posted a bunch of in-store fashion highlights to the jump.)

The Hudson Yards Neiman Marcus has artful installations, numerous engagement points and offers plentiful experiences. It's Instagram-able and fully shoppable. We love the personalizing station, where you can let your imagination go wild. Shoppers can choose from a large variety of patches, embroidery, studs and even collaborate with an artist to handpainted an item. Prices start at $35 to afix a set of initial patches and most customization takes about a week.

We also loved the humongous dressing rooms, especially in the personal shopping area. You might never want to leave. "Try-ing on" situation is so much less of a drag when the environment meets that of your own home. One observation, it would be nice if all the dressing rooms were stocked with bottled water. Part of the 2019 retain environment is anticipating the needs of your customer and who doesn't get thirsty while shopping?

We aren't sure if Neiman Marcus needs a beauty service section but customers can choose from blowouts, waxes manicures and more. We are also not sure that online shoppers need designated stylists, especially when they are allocated with more than 800 sq feet. Seems like the three online stylists would be better positioned at the personal shopping department, which was void of any sales associates.

The flower kiosk, on the main floor, is another cute in-store feature. It seems as if a $40 will buy you a very sweet boutique of high-quality flowers. In a pinch, it's more thoughtful than a candle or hand soap.

Nowadays, one of the biggest draws to any department store is its restaurant. The Neiman Marcus main floor contains a gourmet food department that is an upscale version of TJ Maxx's world food section. It also has a kitchen for food demonstrations and Irving Farm coffee. The Zodiac Room, on the seventh floor, offers an adequate option salad and a good looking burger. On our third visit to Hudson Yards, we found Blue Stone Lane to be the best option for a quick salad or sandwich.

The most exciting moment at Hudson Yards Neiman Marcus was when we surprisingly stumbled upon some of our favorite sales associates. (Their contact information is below along with a few pictures we shot while scouting the store.)

Despite the naysayers, Neiman Marcus offers New Yorkers a different experience. We can't say it will become a regular haunt, partly because of the $35 Uber fare from the Upper East Side, but we do welcome a luxury shopping alternative.  What do you think?

Save the Date: Jimmy Choo Sample Sale

The Jimmy Choo sample sale just slid into the sample sale calendar. If you want to get in on this shopping-trip you must have a confirmed ticket. No worries, we have all the details to get you in and out in no time.

The sale opens to the public on Wednesday, April 3 at the Metropolitan Pavilion. To attend the sale you must use this link to RSVP. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and enter the code SAMPLESALE19 to receive your email confirmation number.

You should take note, this sign-up system does nothing for crowd control. Last year, the line for admittance spanned down the block, around 6th Avenue, and up 19th Street. Unless you have a VIP confirmation, we suggest you refrain from attending this sale until the second day.

For the uninitiated, this sale is legendary for its discount prices. Basic pumps and sandals are usually $200, booties are $325 and boots are $375. Women's shoes run from size 35 to 42 and men's go from 43 to 46. At the last sale, men's shoes were priced at $250 or $375 and included loafers, Oxfords, driving shoe and ankle boots.

This sale is always one of the most popular sample sales of the year but I have never personally purchased anything even during the press preview.  Jimmy Choo has some great styles shoes but none of them ever seem to make it to the sale. The sale is usually overstocked with 2010-style glitter shoes. Woodbury Common Outlet usually offers similar pricing and a much newer style selection.

There are pictures and the price list from the VIP segment of last year's sale is in the jump. We think you'll do better shopping from the above assortment of shoes that we found priced near or below the sample sale prices.  We will also be sure to post a full report in real time on Instagram and follow up with a full blog post online.

It's also worth noting that prices get slashed drastically in the afternoon on the last day. (Don't be surprised if you spot people squatting with piles waiting for the price cut.) Last season, heels were reduced to $100, jeweled shoes & booties were $150, boots were $200, small leather goods were $30 and men’s shoes were $50. That's when it might be worth scavenging Choos. (No, probably not.)

Bergdorf Goodman Extra 30% Off Sale

We started to feel the Sunday night blues settling in but then we remembered about a great upcoming sale. Starting right now, you can save an extra 30% off sale items online at Bergdorf Goodman. There is a similar promotion running at the parent company Neiman Marcus but the additional discount is only 20%.

Once the additional 30% is accounted at Bergdorf Goodman, some items are reduced over 80% off. Here is a Chloe crepe top that comes to $300 from $1250, leather pants from Oliver Theyskens are $260 from $1850 and Valentino shoes with a bow are $313 from almost $900.

You can make this shopping event even more fun with Summer in mind. We are super into these high-waisted skinny jeans from Tre that are $75 from $535, Frame cut-off shorts are only $35, and an a-line raw hem denim skirt from Acynetic is $39 from $225. We also spotted Vince linen shorts with a rope tie for $33 and No 21 joggers are $82. Pair any of these options with low slides from No 21 that are $265 from nearly $700 or Aquzzura slides that are just $250. These Gianvito Rossi plexi slingbacks are also a great idea at $300 from $800.

Take note, the shoe section is very spotty on sizing. The best option is to sort by size before you being any serious browsing. Finding a shoe you love without any size options is an avoidable frustration.

The Bergdorf Goodman sale doesn't officially kick off to the public until Tuesday but it's already live as a quiet period. The promotion ends on Friday. So don't wait until the weekend to do a final checkout.

FWRD Markdowns: Discounts 75% Off

Mid-season discounts can be hard to find but it's always a good idea to scroll an aging sale section. Today we cruised through FWRD and were impressed by some of the items we found that were discounted 75% off.

We love these Jonathan Simkhai side-seam jeans that are nearly reasonable at $200 from $700. Here is a very versatile Chloe blouse for $220 from $1100 and cropped leather RtA pants are $373 from $1100.

This Saint Laurent backpack isn't discounted as much but it's perfect for Summer and it's currently reduced to $1160 from $1450. Speaking of Summer, these Ancient Greek sandals are reduced to $99 from $260 and these Alumnae silver sandals are $163 from $775.

Take note, this is a forever sale section and the most reduced items are only available in limited size ranges. To avoid too much frustration, we suggest you eliminate anything that's not in your size.  It also never hurts to check back periodically.

Designer Spring Clearance Blowout Sale

It's officially Spring, which means it's time to sweep those gray clouds away and get ready for a new season of warm sun and new collections. Before anyone starts grabbing the sunblock, it's a good idea to shed any extra winter bulk and that's exactly the plan at Global Fashions.

Starting Monday, the luxury discounter will open it's doors to the public for a major Spring clearance sale. This is the first time (and possibly the last time) Global Fashions is offering discounts this low. Get this: Any shoe with a red box is just $260 and boots will all be priced at only $395.

The selection includes a large variety of samples and last pieces. Lucky shoppers will be able to snag Rockstud sandals, pumps, flats, slingbacks and more. The shoe selection also includes a small variety of espadrilles, sandals, and sneakers. Boot styles include the iconic floral print high and low-style boots, the color block series, the stars collection, and the classic braided high boots. There are also great options for men too. (You can click here to see nearly 100 pictures.)

Most red box shoes retail for about $1000 and boots are normally about $2000, which translates to a savings of 75% to 80% off. You can take note that there will be no restocking and there will be a purchase limit of eight pairs of shoes.

The Global Fashions clearance sale also includes lots of other designer deals. All other brands of shoes, bags, and accessories, including Stuart Weitzman, will be reduced 70% off. All shoes, handbags, and accessories are 70% off.

Couture designers will be 80% off. All other designer clothing from the likes of, Pamela Roland, Marchesa, Genny, Alberta Ferretti, Dsquared, Catherine Malandrino, Philosophy,  and Ferre will be discounted 85%. Click here to see pictures.

As we noted, we have never seen discounts this low on red box shoes. There isn't a large size assortment. This is only a three-day sale and we expect many of the most popular styles will sell out fast.

Net-A-Porter Designer Discount Promotion

The trend of early designer discount promotions is expanding. Net-A-Porter first started offering a small discount exclusively on designer shoes but has now extended the promotion to a full assortment of product verticals. Now through the end of the month, you can save 15% off anything within this link with the use of the code NETAPORTER15.

You'll quickly notice that most of the merchandise within this promotion edit will be included in the first markdown. The fact of the matter is that the big first markdown won't happen until mid-May and some items might sell out before then.

This Saint Laurent medium Vicky bag is a consideration as it's is one of those items that might not make it to sale season. We wouldn't say that same advice about the Chloé C bag. It's hard to discern if it's Chloe, Celine or even Coach. (We all know it's not Chanel!) We have a feeling we will be linking to this bag at 60% off in no time.

This Petar Petrov leather button-down skirt caught us mid-scroll. At over $1100, we wouldn't normally suggest pouncing but there are only two sizes remaining. This isn't the type of skirt that is purchased in bulk by retailers but it's a gem. The same goes for these two-tone Jennifer Chamandi flats.

We were surprised to find an abundance of beauty products in the discount edit. We usually don't like buying cosmetics online but a 15% discount on a restock might not be a bad idea if you use especially pricey products. (Callout: Diptyque is included too.)

Most everything is included in this promotion besides for the biggest and most in-demand designers of the season. We suggest looking for what you want most and inquiring about inventory levels. Once you have all the information, you can decide if 15% off is a big enough discount now or you can wait for 30% off later.

Inside: Oscar de la Renta Sample Sale

This afternoon, the Oscar de la Renta sample sale kicked off in Soho to press and Gilt ticket holders. The sale includes a great assortment of almost all designer's categories including dresses, gowns, coats, day-wear, skirts, furs, jewelry, belts, bags, shoes, kids clothing, and bridal gowns.

ODLR is always a highlight of the season. It's the perfect sample sale to pick up something nice and new for the Spring fundraiser circuit or Wedding season. The press preview was wonderfully calm but the half-dozen professional line-waiters outside holding spots for those who purchased early entrance coupons from Gilt City. We all know what that means!

Once inside, we were first captured by the children's selection. Most dresses are priced at $65 and coats are $85. Most items aren't sized, which makes any purchase a roll of the dice. The most remarkable find was a pink long-goat-hair vest that was marked $40 from $2000. (We have pictures over here.)

Beyond the children's clothing, there is a large selection of evening gowns and day dresses. We recognized many of the dresses from the last sample sale but there were some additions from the most recent pre-fall collection. There are dresses, pants, and skirts in an eye-catching giant houndstooth tweed.

This red and black houndstooth style pant was $250 from $1990, a black-and-white style is $150 from $1790 and this trumpet cut dress is $250 from nearly $3000.  We also noticed numerous items in a check-tweed print. This dress was $250 from $2700. We also spotted several of these gold leaf embroidered dresses for $450 from nearly $3000. (See our pictures from the sale over here.)

Take note, the sale doesn't include a lot of size variation. It appears as if most items are samples from years past. You will have the most luck if you wear a size 4 to 8. Most evening gowns were priced in the  $600 to $1000 range.

The sale, this season, has less jewelry than the last go-round. Earrings are all still priced at $65. There were some of the floral and beaded tassel styles. We also spotted some new style bags with a large flower applique for $500 from $1790. (See our pictures.)

Downstairs, there are three large racks of bridal gowns and an assortment of shoes. Most shoes are priced at $89. Most gowns we saw are under $1300 from over $9000. (Click for pics.)

The ODLR sale is one of those popular events that tend to attract lots of shoppers. The sale usually has a healthy line throughout its entirety. It's not usually too bad of a wait but you should clock in some extra time if you're thinking of taking a quick pass through the sale.

The OutNet Sale Extra 25% Off Clearance

The Outnet started a clearance sale off about two weeks ago and we highlighted some of the standouts over this way. The discounts top out at 85% off.

Our informants tell us that the sale will be coming to an end on Wednesday. For the last day, the site will offer customers an additional 25% off. The promotion will begin on Tuesday at 9am. The private code is FINALS.

Some of the items we've been eyeing include, this Chloe celestial print mini-dress that will come to $350 from $2850 (once you include the extra 25-off). A sweater from The Row will be $150 from $1190, a classic Givenchy dress will be $380 from $2245 and a Missoni knit mini-dress is $220 from $1825.

Take note, we've noticed a lot of sizing disappearing since we started drafting this post. We would suggest you plan your shopping strategy accordingly. All sales are final.

Inside: The 260 Luxury Vintage Sale

Sample sale host, 260 Sample Sale, opened a luxury vintage sale in Soho on Tuesday. The sale includes bags, jewelry, and small leather goods from Louis Vuitton, Balenciaga, Hermès, MCM, Cartier, Gucci, Prada, and more.

Initial pictures showed several tables of Louis Vuitton monogram bags and it piqued my interest. My expectations were low but I was curious about what could be found at this sale. Usually, the merchandise at vintages sales is priced rediculously high and all too often the bags so damaged that they aren't very desirable.

So I went to inspect. Inside, bags are arranged by brand and color. It's only the second day of the sale and there was already a price reduction. Currently, all Louis Vuitton is 60% off the ticketed price and all other brands are 50% off. Most of the ticketed prices were on the high-side of the pre-owned mark but the additional discounts made greatly increased the purchasing possibilities. It seems as if current prices are about 10% to 20% below the average online price.

Unfortunately, all the Louis Vuitton monogram merchandise is completely sold out. I saw a handful of Epi leather bags. A Sac A Dos is reduced to $410, a Dhanura PM is $240, and a Masty GM is $260. Beyond Vuitton, I saw a Gucci heart print canvas tote that's $300, a Bottega Veneta Cabat tote is $1500 and a very proper Cartier shoulder bag is about $370 from an MSRP of $1350. We also spotted a few Loewe scarves that are about $120. They are normally priced at $375 when purchased new. A PM Hermes Garden Party in good condition is $610 and a Fourre Tout PM is $250. You can click here to see pictures.

Much of what remains resembles closet outcasts. Many of the items I saw were priced inexpensively enough to be a consideration but we all know that it will only be a few years of foster care before these orphan bags met the same fate.

I can't suggest taking a special trip to the sale in its current state. Going forward, I would suggest attending this sale on the opening day. Even without the additional discount, are a bit less than what we have seen online and in vintage stores throughout the world.

I posted pictures from in side the sale today. I also linked a scroll of assorted bags that I saw at the sale for nearly the same price.

Sale Season: Big Ski & Winter Sales

The ski season is drawing to a quick end and retailers are beginning to aggressively reduce winter outerwear and ski gear. Now is the perfect time to stock up and replace whatever you need with discounts exceeding 60% off.

Moda Operandi is reducing all things "ski" by 50% off with the code SKI150. Here is a Yves Salmon fur-trimmed puffer for $750 from $1490, a Fusalp jacket is $500 from$1000 and a Eugenia Kim hat with a pom-pom $113 from $225.

Perfect Moment has quickly captured our hearts and become one of our favorite brands. The quality is exceptional and styling is fun. It's really perfect for teens and young adults as an alternative to Moncler. MatchesFashion seems to have the best deals -- especially after you engage the additional 20% off code. This quilted bomber jacket comes to just $200 from $500 and here is another jacket that's a more typical ski style for $210 from $434. Matches also has a lot of Fendi jackets with a final discount of 60% off. This velvet down puffer is $1100 from $2900.

Over on Farfetch we found this Off-White bomber reduced 60% off. Here is an MSGM plaid print bomber that's reduced 70%, plus an additional 20% off. It comes to just about $300 from $1200. We also found this Balmain ski cap that's $120 from $307.

If you still have your heart set on Moncler,  Nordstrom has a few sale options left.  Here is a woman's style for 50% off and a men's style that's discounted 25% or $840 from $1125.

We suggest you take some time to browse the web. After all it's always a good idea to buy what you anticipate you will need while it's on sale.

LN-CC: New Season Gucci and Prada 20% Off

This season, we have noticed that lots of retailers have initiated very early discount promotions. The discounts might not be large but we don't ever recall such aggressive early season marketing. Even so,  most of these shopping incentives exclude major designers.

It only was a matter of time until we hit the designer jackpot. European luxury emporium, LN-CC is actually focusing on just the items we really want. Early season discounts are up to 20% off. You must use this link to view the promotion discounts. We were excited to find this Gucci crystal top for even $200 off and these Gucci logo high boots are a straight 20% off.

The best part of the promotion might be the bag options. Here is a classic Gucci Marmont for under $850, a Prada transparent tote for $700,  and the new Prada saddle bag is $1200. Other interesting items are Opyum YSL heels, Prada mesh sneakers, and this Prada logo necklace that seems like a great deal for $240.  (The 'should I buy/should I not buy' conflict is torture!)

Before you click off, be sure to check out the site's sale section. There are lots of interesting fashion finds for 60% off. Some items we never even saw on markdown, like this Gucci puffer and this Miu Miu belt bag.

The good thing is that LN-CC is not on the shopping radar of most luxury customers and you have a moment to digest your options before everything sells out. It also doesn't hurt that this sale is very private. This promotion runs through March 20.

Farfetch March Madness: 20% Off

March madness doesn't have to be limited to basketball. Actually, we prefer a month of discounts and that's exactly what's being offered on Farfetch. For the entire month, you can save 20% off sale and select full price merchandise. Use this link and the code X20FAR to engage the discount at checkout.

There are lots of full price exclusions, which are indicated by the 'New Season,' ‘Permanent Collection,’ and ‘Exclusive’ labels. It actually took some digging to find items not excluded from the promotion. We found this Danse Lente bucket bag that's about $400 from $500 and this Staud bag that's $170 from $210.

We happen to love these Tabitha Simmons white pumps but aren't quite sure about spending $640 on them-- that's after the discount. We're probably better off with this pair from Neous that come to $230. After lots of digging, we also found that many new-season Onia bathing suits that are included in the promotion.

The search for new season items that are eligible for the deal can be exhausting. Shopping the sale section is a lot more satisfying. Here is a Givenchy bag with fringe that's $800 from $2700. These blue Stuart Weitzman booties can be great for an outfit and come to only $2250 from $550 and kid's Golden Goose sneakers are hard to pass up for just $120. Adult sizes in the same style are $130.

This sale runs all month, which means you have some time to mull over your purchases. Just take note, there are some anomalies --like Boyy bags-- but they quickly sold out. If you see something that doesn't make sense, it probably is a mistake and will sell out quickly.

Saks Private Surprise Liquidation Sale

It's technically not a sale season but it appears as if retailers are quietly liquidating leftover merchandise online. Saks Fifth Avenue is running major markdowns and we anticipate that even more will be added over the weekend. You can click here to start browsing.

Among the bags, we found this Chloe saddle bag that that is the same 50% off as the current sample sale. Take note, there are several other designer bags that are discounted just $1, which is a reason for us to believe that something big is coming soon.

Most shoes are currently reduced 60% off but there are some random styles discounted even more. Saint Laurent teddy pumps are nearly 70% off or $360 from $900. These Philip Lim tweed hiking boots have a Chanel look and are reduced to $280 from $700. Alexander Berman kitten heel boots are $280 from $700.

Surprisingly, there is still a nice selection of Moncler hanging out. This chevron style is nearly 50% off and this velvet and shiny-combo is reduced 40% off. We are keeping an eye on this Gucci dress that's currently 60% off and this Prada belted jacket that's currently $880.

This sale will likely be the last of the season. Exactly year at this time, Saks a big clearance sale that just ran Sunday and Monday. Considering the inventory levels and the number of viable purchase options. We suggest you keep your eyes on the site and perhaps put snag a few things in the cart. We'll update the post and Instagram when the sale is officially live.

Bogner's (Madison Avenue) Sample Sale

Winter isn't quite over. Just when you think temperatures are warming, March roars its chilly growls. If you missed last weekend's Bogner sample sale you have one last chance to add to your cold weather and ski wardrobe.

Our favorite skiwear brand is hosting a sample sale right in the neighborhood. Merchandise will be reduced up to 70% off retail. The selection will include items from ski, golf, fashion, boots, shoes, helmets and fur trim. Most of the selection will be comprised of the recent Winter and past Spring collections.

This will be your last chance to score great ski, sport and winter fashion at amazing prices. No excuses, this sale is right in the neighborhood. You know if you don't do it now you will regret it next Winter.

Inside: The Chloe Sample Sale (Pics & Prices)

The Chloe sample sale opened this afternoon to invited press and brand VIPs. We were one of the lucky few to have the opportunity to shop the freshly presented merchandise. The line outside today was just a few minutes but we expect the wait to be much longer when the sale opens to the public tomorrow.

Discounts range from 50% off for bags all the way up to 80% off for Chloe ready-to-wear. The bag selection was the first stop for most shoppers. Most customers weren't thrilled by the markdown and we noticed more bag inspecting than buying.

We agree on taking a pass on the half-off bags. Shoppers are better off waiting until there is a good Bloomingdales markdown. If you catch it right, you can snag a Chloe bag for over 60% off. The sampel sale also has a two bag limit, which will reduce the hoarding even if there is a price cut. (You can click here to see a few of the bags that were available at the sale.)

The remainder of the upstairs portion of the sale is comprised of clothing from Chloe and See by Chloe--the lower end line. Chloe and See by Chloe clothing are reduced 80% off retail. We spotted some pretty See by Chloe ruffled dresses that come to $90 from $450. The price point is clearly fantastic but the fabric is the type of rayon that makes your skin crawl. Another See by Chloe standout was a silver leather and shearling jacket that came to $470 from $2350. The is a much better quality item, which is reflected in the higher price. We have more pics this way.

Chloe items are obviously more pricey. A rack of linen blouses is very pretty but not stand-out enough to justify the price at even 80% off. One style comes to $950 from $4750. A poplin cotton shirtdress is probably a better option at $400 from $2000. Pants are generally priced at about $1100 and come to $220. (Click for pics.)

We found the best options downstairs in the shoe section. Shoes are reduced by 70%. We spotted various scalloped Lauren heels and flats that range in price from $150 to $180 after the discount. There were also Laren shoes with the pointed toe, which look a bit more modern than the classic round flat. We also really like the Lauren flat sandals for Summer but think they are pricey at nearly $200 from $650. The sale also has lots of boots and shoes. You can click here to see a lot of what's available.

We expect that the first days of this sale will be very busy. Lines may even extend around the block. We would suggest restraining your shopping impulses until later in the sale run. The Neiman Marcus sale section has discounts very similar to the sample sale. We added some examples above.

We are pretty sure that there will also be price cuts. We will be sure to keep you posted on Instagram if we hear any changes.

The Outnet's Extra Discounts 85% Off

The Outnet is heavily discounting old merchandise in an online clearance sale. The markdowns extend to 85% off. The sale will run for about two weeks with increasing promotions. Right now, most items are running at full stock, which means you have your option os sizes and selection.

I did some early browsing and found a few items that you might want to watch, The bag selection always goes first. Here is an Anya Hindmarch cartoon-appliqued bag for 70% off and comes to $800 from $2700. I have the Fendi Dotcom bag and it has become one of my favorites. Right here it's $1380 from $3450. It's still a bit pricey but it's sure to get a lot of use.

The shoe selection is better but there isn't much "need to have" items. These Chloe boots are 80% off ($179) and are a much alternative to waiting in the cold to get into the sample sale. These Belstaff moto boots have a great look and are $179 from $850.

If you have some time to browse, I suggest you sort through the clothing because that's where you will find the best deals. A Missoni heavy-knit turtle neck is $184 from $1230, a Jil Sander grey cashmere sweater is $219 from $1460, and this classic Roksanda top with bell sleeves is $200 from $990. The sale has an abundance of Etro and Pucci options at 85% off. Rick Owens fans should not miss some of the top hits reduced 80%-85% off.

I also love to take advantage of these sales by picking up a few items from the in-house brand, Iris & Ink. I find the quality to be very good, especially at these discounted prices. Black suede pumps for $60 seem like a no-brainer. (Can I point out that they are all leather and made in Italy?) This grey sweatshirt with a ruffled sleeve for $38 is great for a casual weekend look and their cashmere sweaters for under $100 are always an unexpected luxury.

The Outnet clearance sale just kicked off today but there will be another markdown on March 8. Later, the clearance section will be restocked with fresh merchandise on March 13. The final push will begin on March 15, when there will be a code for an extra 20% to 25% off.

Take note, we've noticed a lot of sizing disappearing since we started drafting this post. We would suggest you plan your shopping strategy accordingly. All sales are final.

Snowy Shopping: Neiman Marcus Extra 20% Off Clearance

What was supposed to be a stuck-in-the-house snowday has turned into a bright sunny day of no school. Everyone seems to have had a late start but all engines are now blazing at full throttle. That just means you're even more deserving of a shopping break.

We suggest you point your attention to Neiman Marcus where there is a five-day promotion of 20% off clearance items. The extra percentage off brings the total discount to 85% off on many items.

We quickly browsed the shoe section and found that most of the best items are only available in one size. There are still a few of these Gianvito Rossi sandals in black or white for $250 from $815. We are currently very attracted to the color camel and wouldn't mind these Givenchy zip boots that are $625 from $1600.

Take note, there is also a straight 30% off shoe sale running too. The discount on some styles of shoes are better than just 30% off and the selection is stronger too. Here are one of our favorite Prada lipstick pumps for $480 from $690, Saint Laurant pumps with an extra high vamp for $625 from $895 and Alexander Wang cage booties are $525 from $750.

If you missed the Opening Ceremony sample sale you might be able to do just as well picking through the NM clearance department. Her is a puffer jacket with faux fur trim that's $188 from $525,  a track jacket is just $100 from $525,  and a mini-skirt is $82 from almost $300. Outside of Opening Ceremony,  we are digging this cropped tweed jacket from IRO that's $180 from $590 we also love this No. 21 hooded jacket that's $400 from $1270. We are also crazy for the shoulders on this Tom Ford blazer that's $800 from $2900.

This extra 20% off clearance sale runs through Sunday. The next big Neiman Marcus clearance promotion will be again towards the end of the month.

March Sample Sales 🐆🌬🐑 Update: Diptyque

The sample sale situation has been a little drab since the holiday season but that will change soon. March usually goes in like a lamb and out with several roaring sales. We are most excited about the possible finds from Chloe and Roxanne Assoulin.

Be sure to check Chicmi for complete sample sale listings. You will notice that the Space NK and Kevyn Aucoin sales aren't part of our recommendations. Lines are often unnecessarily long and the sales are filled with resellers. There are enough inexpensive drugstore brands that you don't need to stock up on 15 colors of eyeshadow just because it's a sample sale.

We will be sure to keep you updated in this space. Feel free to ask questions and leave intelligence in the comment section below.

Diptyque Sample Sale
A last-minute addition to the March sample sale calendar has beauty and fragrance lovers very excited. Diptyque's famous sale will begin on Monday at Century 21. Just take note, morning shopping is reserved for VIPs. This is when many of the most popular items and fragrances get scooped away. We anticipate that there will be crowds and limited options towards the later part of the day. At the last sale, most items were discounted 50% off. Large candles and room sprays were $35 and smaller sizes were $20. Perfumes and beauty items are always the most plentiful. Least year, those who hold out for the last day of the sale were rewarded with a 2-for-$30 markdown but the selection was mostly hoiday fragrances. Click here to read about the last Diptque sale.
