Hunt & Gather: 25 Shoes Designer Shoes for $200

The prices of designer shoes have skyrocketed even more quickly than the Dow Jones. It wasn't so long ago that standard designer pumps retailed for $600. Now $900 is the benchmark designer pumps. Analysts frequently debate if people are actually spending more money or just waiting longer for deeper discounts.

After experiencing a season of sticker shock it's fun to hunt for shoes that are reduced under $300. We like to think of it as three for the price of one. Above is an assortment of shoes that will cost you somewhere in the $200-range. It just proves that no matter your budget you should never settle.

Our lineup includes an impressive assortment from Gucci, Manolo BlahnikGivenchy, Valentino, Prada, YSL, and Burberry. Sizes are limited in each style but if you hunt, we are sure everyone can find something to gather.

The Men's Edit: Great Buys for Guys

Every day we rummage through racks of dresses, heels, and bins of bags. We are so focused on getting our next fashion fix that we often overlook the men's fashion. Today we are completely focusing our attention on great buys for guys.

Remember, men's sales usually start a little later than women's markdowns. That means options for our male counterparts are still plentiful even as sale merchandise for women is drying up. Over at Bergdorf's, we found Givenchy swim trunks for $218 from $485, Gucci lace-up shoes for $436 from $900, and a Balenciaga techno rainbow shirt for $535 from $1090.

Over on Mr. Porter there is a very large selection of sale merchandise reduced 70% off. A Palm Angles track jacket is $236 from $600, an Amiri sweatshirt is $240 from $600, Common Projects sneakers are $240 from $475,  and an Ev Bravado tee is $88 from $220.

Over at MatchesFashion, the men's selection is a little larger but the prices are a bit high. As women, we've really been spoiled during the last round of discounts. Some standouts include Amiri sneakers are $400 from $800, a Givenchy polo is $390 from $780 and a Greg Lauren work jacket is $1250 from $2500.

It will take some time to scroll through the entire men's sale section on Farfetch but it's worth the time. If you use the code JAN20, you'll save an extra 20%. Here is a Parajumpers puffer jacket is $410 from $760, an Off-White industrial belt is reduced to $150 from $300, an Aspesi puffer jacket is  $300 from $940 and Versace sweatpants are $290 from $900.

Frankly, most of these items translate well into a woman's wardrobe too. There goes an altruistic post. Can you blame us?

The It-IT: Versace

The most talked-about moment of the entire SS2020 fashion month was when JLo emerged in an updated rendition of her iconic Versace tropical jungle print Grammy's dress. The fashion world went wild as the 50-year-old proved that everything gets better with time.

The heat hasn't died. Last week, Versace released its Spring-Summer ad campaign showcasing JLo as the star. Sunday's Superbowl will fuel the flames fashion as the half-time will star JLo and you can bet she will be wearing, you guessed it, Versace.

Retailers are also taking big bets that Versace will be a fashion star this Summer. Moda Operandi is already almost sold out of the offering the $7000 jungle dress worn by JLo on the Milan runway. A  less revealing and less expensive $1700 version is also running low in sizes.

We are officially calling Versace this Summer's biggest trend. We don't forecast that medusa prints will be worn head-to-toe a la Kris Jenner but there are a few key iconic Versace pieces that can enhance your Summer wardrobe. A silk blouse, bathing suit, a headband or a bustier top are a good start.

Versace mania hasn't quite lit up yet and you can still find some pieces on sale. Here is a Versace tee for $250 from $500, printed leggings are $252 from $512, shorts are $318 from $800 and a bucket hat is $200 from $800.

The Versace hit is just another reason to hold on to what's good. The iconic vintage styles have surpassed new season retail prices. Sometimes old is better than new, just ask JLo.

Weekend Shopping: Chinese New Year Edition

Happy Chinese New Year and Gong Xi Fa Cai! We couldn't think of a better way to ensure good luck and prosperity all year than shopping for great weekend sales. We found some good ones.

Tessabit, in Italy,  is offering 20% off new season merchandise with the code DEALMOON20T. Not every designer is included but the code TSB10XT will save you 10% on most everything else. These YSL Casandra sandals come to $800 from $1000 and the Jacquemus Le Chiquito is $400 from $500. (This style sells out fast at full price.)

Taking a step into 24S, in France, you can save an additional 20% off sale items when you spend $200+ with the code EXTRA20. These Bottega Veneta mules come to $525 from $805, Thom Brown derby shoes are $310 from $1200 and a Balenciaga glitter bag is $790 from $1350. Remember, there is no sales tax, duties or shipping.

Over on Jomashop, everything Celine is 50% off. That includes bags. A big bucket bag is $994 from $1990. It's even available in red, which is especially apropos. A Trio is $494 from $1990 and a quilted shoulder bag is $1200 from $2800. The site also has lots of Gucci discounted 40% to 50% off.

Opening Ceremony is closing, which is another huge retailer loss to NYC. For now, you can win an extra 40% off reduced prices with the code YOTR40. This Chloe Sevigny polo immediately caught our eye as it comes to $60 from $140 and the flounce denim skirt is awfully cute too for $160 from $300.

Celebrate the Lunar year with the added bonus of shopping with a bottle of champagne and sweets within arms reach. Wishing all my readers and followers fortune and luck in all your endeavors in the Year of the Rat.

Nordstrom: Inside Remaining Sale (Pics)

Usually, New York is a hub for sale merchandise. Most stores ship merchandise from their satellite stores into NYC flagships. The opposite is the case with the newly opened NYC Nordstrom store.

Today we crossed Fifth Avenue to see what could be found for at Nordstrom at steller prices and the sad truth there is almost nothing. There are no bags left on sale and we are told the one rack of remaining shoes went to the Rosevelt Field Nordstrom store.

There is some clothing still left at the flagship store but most of it is only reduced by 33% to 60% off. You can click here to see pictures. Online shopping might provide to be a bit more fruitful. We spotted this strong shoulder Veronica Beard blazer for $278 from $700 but it's only available in a size 8. A Tibi faux snakeskin skirt is $170 from $475 and Nili Lotan camo hoodie is $195 from $325.

If none of the designer items are winning your heart, we suggest you explore the inhouse collaboration with fashion mega influencer, Atlantic Pacific. There are several good pieces available for amazing prices like this faux leather pleated skirt that's $80 from $140. (I get compliments on mine wherever I go.) This striped sweater is $41 from $70 and a plaid blazer is $100 from $170.

Nordstrom NYC doesn't seem to be a prime destination for deals but we hear that some local Nordstrom Rack stores have good merchandise. See, we can always find a spot of sunshine when it comes to shopping.

MyTheresa Private Link Extra 20% Off

MyTheresa is always a little slower on markdowns than many other luxury retailers but its sale is about to get interesting. Starting Friday, MyTheresa will begin offering an extra 20% off a selection of sale items but we were given the thumbs up to share the link with MadSpy readers for early access now.

You can click here to access the sale selection now and use the code EXTRA20 at checkout to engage the additional savings.

MyTheresa is a popular European online luxury store based in Munich, Germany. The site was acquired by Neiman Marcus in 2014.  Most recently, Neiman Marcus was accused by its creditors of attempting to secretly transfer the lucrative MyTheresa asset into the hands of its private equity group. The transfer to new ownership would effectively block creditors from making claims on the asset in the event of a bankruptcy.

But enough about retailer gossip, back to our private promo link!

Some of the better finds include a large variety of Valentino bags that come out to about 50% off. This beach bag is available in every combination but my favorite is the canvas and leather that comes to $780 from $1400. This Shift Balenciaga bag comes to $667 from about $1400. A drawstring bag from TheRow is $480 from $1200 and the satin Ascot bag is $400 from $990.

Going for shoes, you'll find Paris Texas high boots for $500 from $1040, Nicholas Kirkwood Beya loafers come to $260 from $540 and Givenchy slides are $385 from $690. The best part is many shoe styles are still available in a full assortment of sizes.

Over among the clothing, you'll find this Balmain blazer that's about $1000 from $2300 US retail and a tank with buttons along the shoulders is $140 from $395 US retail. A Versace silk skirt comes to $400 from $1250 and those hugely popular Khaite jeans are $200 from $400.

After all the extreme markdowns we've seen, not all of the merchandise on MyTheresa might seem so inexpensive. Sometimes that's the tradeoff you get for finding full-size ranges this late in the season. On the bright side, some items are priced lower than in the US. (Balmain is a clear example.) Also, there is no sales tax, duties or shipping charges. Maybe that's why Neiman's is trying to stash the site.

Net-a-Porter's Final Sale, Extra Discounts

As the winter blues set in we have been awaiting Net-a-Porter's explosive final markdown as a ray of sunshine. This end-of-season event usually only lasts a few weeks and is delivered with an extra 20% off.

This season's big event started today. Look for items marked 'Sale Must Haves' to see what's included in the extra discount promotion. Usually, the merchandise that's already the most discounted and various designers aren't applicable.

Take note, when this sale strikes, merchandise tends to go very quickly. The shoes and bags are always the first to fly off the site. This PVC Valentino beach bag is $725 from $1300 and a studded belt bag is $525 from $1300. These Isabel Marant shoes are about $280 from $875 and Gianvitto Rossi pumps are the same price.

Everything gets a little more interesting when you start shopping for clothing. There is still a large assortment of clothing and the sizing variety is quite large. Check out this Ulla Johnson floral print silk blouse for $180 from $450 and this Dolce & Gabbana floral print skirt is $510 from $1145.

The NAP final sale usually lasts just a couple of weeks. Then the section completely disappears. TheOut is the next stop-- as it becomes past season fashion.

Farfetch Extra 20% Off Sale

The sale selections at our local haunts are getting pretty dismal but overseas stores are much better stocked and the discounts are starting to get competitive. Farfetch started a promotion today where sale merchandise is discounted an extra 20%. Use the code JAN20 to engage the additional discount.

📸 @giulialoschi
Among the bags, we found this Givenchy clutch that's about $540 from $830. This minimal Bottega Veneta bag is $1500 from $3200, a Saint Laurant Catherine crossbody is $1230 from $2550 and this Givenchy Eden is $1410 from $2850.

These Paris Texas low boots are a great find at $200 from $613. Saint Laurent kiki metallic heels are $310 from $800 and Givenchy slides are $320 from $575. These Rosetta Getty sandals are $120 from nearly $500 and available in nearly every size.  We also spotted this pretty Ganni sweater that's $250 from $450.

Balmain tee without gold buttons is $180 from $350 and a blue tank with gold buttons is available in a small and extra small for $160. A white version is $140 and is available in a size 44, which is a large. Balmain tanks are normally $395, which makes both these options a great deal.

A lot of the best sale merchandise is already gone and prices seem a little high on much of what remains. Some good digging can uncover some finds but it will take some commitment and time.  Only items marked "Extra20" are eligible for the additional savings. There is no official promo end date but we summarize that it will run through the end of the month.

Where to Shop this Weekend

This week has been very exciting for end-of-season discount shoppers. Ironically, it kicked off with a Neiman Marcus extra 20% off sale and ending with a big Neiman Marcus consolidation that just went live with an added 20% off. (You can read more about Consolidation here.)

Thursday evening, LuisaViaRoma started offering an extra 30% off sale merchandise with the code FR30 and earlier this week Net-A-Porter's sale hit 80% off on some merchandise. Intermix started offering an additional 50% off sales items. MatchesFashion and Tessabit have promotions of an extra 20% off sale.

If you're tired of this past season, you can get a jump start on new collection savings. 24S has a special where new collection items are 25% off. (There are full details here.) There are still some good in-season items left on sale at Ssense but the markdown section will be removed Friday morning.

Below are some of our favorite sale items. We will refresh the selection throughout the weekend and try to remove any merchandise that's sold out. We know too well of the disappointment that comes with an unavailable item you want.

Neiman Marcus Consolidation Sale: Extra 20% Off (Pics)

Over the course of this past week, Neiman Marcus hubs have been accepting deliveries from satellite stores all over the country. The annual ritual, which is referred to as the consolidation sale event kicks off on Thursday morning at stores and will come with the added bonus of an additional 20% off. The extra 20% off will be available online officially on Friday but we have a feeling it will go live sooner.

I took the journey to Hudson Yards Neiman Marcus, which is essentially a day trip from the Upper East Side. There is no fast way to go get there and back. It's a horror. I digress.

All shoes are reduced up to 70% off. The promotional discount will bring some shoe styles to close to 80% off. The sale selection is organized on racks, in their boxes, with their mates. The display has a feel of Marshalls or DSW but, on the bright side, you don't need to ask anyone for assistance. From a retail standpoint, it's probably a missed opportunity for both the store and the customer to create relationships. This layout, however, is probably just easier for everyone. Here are some pictures.

Among the sale styles, there are plentiful options from Manolo Blahnik, Tom Ford, YSL, Givenchy Christian Louboutin and a scattering of Gucci. You can click here to see pictures. Remember all prices will be an additional 20% off starting Thursday. Some of the online standouts include YSL Opyum boots that will be about $600 from $1700 once the additional discount kicks in. Manolo sandals will be $240 from $700, and Givenchy boots will $450 from $1300.

The bag selection at the store is dismal. There are a few Loewe sacs and various Louboutin options, which aren't very desirable even after the additional discount. You can see pictures here. The online selection isn't any better.

The racks of sale clothing are not plentiful at Hudson Yards. We wouldn't suggest taking the trip if you're seriously shopping for sale clothing.  Some current options that remain are this Missoni sweater that comes to $450 from $1450, a classic Alaia dress will come to about $1200 from $4000 and this Balmain classic mini dress will be $640 from $2000.

There are a lot of Moncler options online. This Moncler short jacket is available in all sizes and will come to $600 from $950 and fans of yellow can snatch up this Rhin style for $800 from nearly $1400. I'm personally a bigger fan of this reversible floral print style when the pattern is worn on the inside. This plaid version is nice too and still full price at Moncler boutiques.

Remember, the consolidation sale and added promotion will happen at stores on Thursday but the extra discount won't be available online until Friday. (Or so, they say.) We suggest you take this extra time to leisurely scroll through all the sale options and then edit down your picks to what you really want.

Net-A-Porter Clearance 80% Off

We were under the impression that Net-a-Porter was closing down its sale section as it usually does at this time of year. Instead, we were thrown a curveball and surprised with an additional clearance markdown.

Various items are now reduced to 80% off. This clearance sale is usually a shopping frenzy and attracts a large amount of shopping traffic.

Usually, the most discounted clothing is from prior seasons but we spotted some good finds at 80% off that are for Winter. This Re/Done puffer jacket is $270 from $1350 and still available in all sizes. This maxi skirt from AWAKE is $186 from $620, an Isabel Marant leather minidress is $960 from $3300, and this Zimmerman dress is $325 from $650. Be sure to check out the denim options. A second pair of these Grlfrnd jeans were just purchased for "backup."

The shoe selection doesn't really hit 80% off but some styles did take another markdown. Here is a pair of Golden Goose sneakers for $318 from $530 and Bottega Veneta two-tone slingbacks are $290 from $730. These Nicholas Kirwood sandals are really nice for about $200 from $725 and Beya loafers are under $200. Don't miss the Amina Muaddi "glass slippers" that are $300 from $600.

Most of the sale options for bags have been more reduced at other retailers but there is still a decent selection. There is this Givenchy GV3 handbag and a Balenciaga tote that are possible considerations.

We sincerely suggest you hop on the site with a critical eye. Lots of items were much more reduced at other locations. We surmise that this clearance sale will last another week and then for a final push, the site will offer an additional 20% off. Afterward, NAP will close the curtain on the sale season. Better late than never.

Lake Como's Tessabit Extra 20% Off Sale

Tessabit is a multi-brand luxury boutique based in Lake Como, Italy. It was the first store to carry Georgio Armani's collection in the 70s and has remained on the cutting edge of trend and fashion ever since. More recently, Tessabit has their goals set on capturing the eyes of a New York shopper.

Starting today, you can save an extra 20% off sale merchandise with the code EXTRA20. Markdowns already scale 70% and the extra discount brings the total savings to near 80% off on some items.

The best part is that Tessabit's merchandise is coming from Italy and already at a discount when compared to our retail prices. There is also no city or state sales tax. Some standouts include Saint Laurent sandals that come to about $300 from $645 and this Saint Laurant leather shopper is $800 from nearly $2000. This McQueen Knuckle clutch never goes out of style and now $960 from $1990. A Dolce & Gabbana dress is $725 from $2263, Bottega Veneta shoes are $210 from $719 and a Fendi top handle bag is $1472 from $4600.

Be sure to check out the men's selection too. It's very good. Also, be sure to keep your eyes focused on European designers. That's where you will find the best values.

The IT-it: The Teardrop Shaped Bag

The new season is upon us and there are new trends to explore. This Spring we will be introduced to the teardrop shape bag. The new silhouette features a rounded sack-type base that culminates with a short middle handle that can be worn as a wristlet.

This trend has a casual feel of a bucket bag with the elegance of a clutch. Unlike a clutch, there is the added hands-free bonus.

Some standout styles for Spring include a Bottega Veneta style, called The Twist,  that is offered in a traditional woven style ($2200) or in flat leather ($1900). S. Joon ($400) is a newcomer to the handbag tab and offers a contemporary priced option of the teardrop shape.  Alaia ($1490) offers its own version ranging from pony hair to its signature laser cut ($2560). Jimmy Choo ($1550) has an evening version with crystals.

If you're interested in the Bottega Twist, finding a deal isn't always so simple. We found this orange woven version for $1692 and the flat style for $1616.

The new shape is a welcomed change. It's a nice excuse to add something new to the collection without feeling it's a redundant purchase. What do you think of the teardrop shape?

Net-A-Porter & Saks Add Extra Discounts

The Winter sale season is coming to a close and retailers are eager to move any remaining sale merchandise. Today, Net-A-Porter started a one-day extra 15% off promotion and Saks Fifth Avenue will begin a flash sale on Tuesday with discounts topping 75% off.

Only the items indicated are included in the NAP extra discount promotion but there were extra reductions too. Some highlights include this Valentino beach bag that's now $558 from $1395, Nicholas Kirkwood ankle boots are $625 from $1250, Isabel Marant ankle boots are $444 from $1110, an AWAKE pleated skirt is $250 from $620, and a Dolce & Gabbana sunflower print dress is $770 from $1700.

Take note, the Net-A-Poter sale won't linger forever and these might be the lowest prices of the season. We are told that the sale section will be removed from the site on January 13. That only gives you one more week of sale-ing.

Heading off the computer and down Fifth Avenue, Saks has started consolidation and gathered nearly all of the store's sale clothing to the ninth floor. Be sure to check out the full rack of Prada and Miu Miu that's all reduced 70% off. A blue floral skirt is $318 from about $1030 and a Miu Miu print cardigan is $550 from $1130. We have pictures from the store over here. Online you can snag this blue ruffled skirt for $480 from $1200.

Among the other designer merchandise, we spotted an Henro puffer jacket that comes to $381 from $635 and a Dolce & Gabbana floral print skirt that's $378 from $945. Online there is a lot of The Row items that are reduced 70%, which is sample sale comparable.  This cashmere and wool sweater is $300 from $990. A Zimmerman sweater is $300 from $800 and this Fendi coat with fur cuffs is $1200 from nearly $4000.

You can click here to see more pictures of what we found at the store. The Saks online flash sale is slated to begin Tuesday morning. We will sure to update prices and merchandise as the promotion goes live.

Weekend Shopping: Scrolling at 70% Off

The weekend is nearly over but there are still so many sales to discuss. Many of the boutiques listed on the Farfetch platform took an extra discount over the weekend resulting a bounty of buys.

Among the noteworthy bags are Fendi's Upsidedown bag that's $1700 from $3400, a Givenchy Eden bag for $1425 from $2850, a Tom Ford tote for $996 from $2490 and a Valentino Rockstud bag with a heart for $1650 from $3300. (Is it too early to start thinking of Valentine's Day?) The shoe selection is pretty good too but it's safer to sort by your individual size because there are only one or two sizes remaining in each style,

Some other weekend standouts include the Prada & Miu Miu sale at Neiman Marcus. Speaking of shoes, Net-A-Porter added another discount on designer footwear.  Again, you're going to want to sort by size to eliminate disappointment.

If you're looking for great "fash-fun," head to Moda Operandi. Discounts hit 80% off. Daisy earrings from Rebecca de Ravenel are $90 from $300, a set of Roxanne Assoulin bracelets are $132 from $330, a Nanushka vinyl puffer is $200 from $700, and Zimmerman leather pants are about $780 from nearly $2000.

We all know the Golden Globes aren't that interesting. Happy Scrolling!

Inside Bergdorf Goodman: 75% Off Designer Sale (50+pics)

Bergdorf Goodman started sale earlier and more aggressively than most of our neighborhood stores. Right now, you can save up to 75% off lots of clothing options. Most remaining shoes and handbags are 60% off. You can also save an additional 15% off many items  but only until Friday morning.

There aren't a lot of great items to be found online but the chances of finding a worthwhile purchase are much greater if you go to the store. Among the handbags, there are a few velvet Givenchy Eden bags that are reduced to $1695 from $3200. You can see the bag in the pictures section.

Upstairs, in the designer clothing sale section, you will find an enormous selection of Dior clothing. The entire selection is 60% off, plus a temporary 15%. A colorful wool robe-style cardigan is $1190 from $3500, brick red slacks are $663 from $2950 and a silk blouse is $833 from $2450. You can click here to see pictures of some of the Dior highlights and other items we found on the designer floor.

The more moderately priced designer items on the 4th floor seem to be better.  A long Khaite coat with white stitching trim is $612 from $2550, a Marni digitized blouse is $382 from $1790 and a Coperni blazer is $274 from $1295. You may not be familiar with the Coperni brand but retailers are investing heavily in inventory for Spring. It's probably a name you want to watch. The quality is really nice but it tends to run small. A size 40 is more like a US 4 than a US 8. You can see pictures over this way.

The sale shoe selection is now consolidated to one side of the shoe floor. Most styles are 60% off and no extra discounts are applicable. Ankle-high Dior boots are so tempting at $600 from $1490. We also spotted a pair of Dior embroidered mules for $340 from $850. You can see pictures of these and more in the jump.

Online the shoe options are spotty.  There are these Manolo pumps in a 39.5 for $390 from $725. The Row loafers are $318 from $800. That's about the same as the sample sale. Alexander Birman grey suede boots are $380 from $950 and Chloe wedges are $260 from $650.

Remember, the extra 15% off discount will only last through Friday morning. The next promotion will an extra 20% off and begin on January 10.

Extra Discounts: MatchesFashion & MyTheresa

Online luxury retailers are feeling the pressure to close out anything left from the prior season and MatchesFashion and MyTheresa are the most recent sites to add a little promotion to their sale selection. You can now save an additional 10% off past sale merchandise at MatchesFashion with the code EXTRA10. You can save an additional 20% off all purchases over $600 at MyTheresa with the code SALE4.

We found this new style Balenciaga bag that comes to $750 from $1400 and this Shift style rings up at $750 from $1400. We spotted this very classic Valentino Rockstud tote that comes to $1755 from $3245 and this cute canvas pouch that's $340 from $625.

The shoe options are vast and there are some extra great deals if you are shopping for sandals and warm weather options. Check out these Nicholas Kirkwood sandals with pearl heels for $270 from $745,  Balenciaga knife velvet pumps are $340 from $950, and Prada sandals are $350 from $990.

On MyTheresa, this Ascot bag from The Row will come to $480 from $990, this Fendi bucket bag is $1000 from $1200 and this Givenchy GV3 is about $1200 from $2200. Among the shoes are Valentino wedges that will come to $380 from $800,  Saint Laurent tribute sandals are $360 from $840, and Amina Muaddi glitter boots are $560 from $990.

The MyTheresa sale is very late in the season, which is ideal for grabbing something you missed at another retailer. Most sizes are fully stocked currently but that won't last long. An added bonus is that there is no sales tax and no duties. This extra 20% off promotion will only run through Friday. We suggest you move fast.

The most reduced items on MatchesFashion are from prior seasons but classics stand the test of time. There is really a good selection from which to shop. If you have a vacation planned to someplace warm you will even be more pleased. The promotion Matches promotion ends Thursday, Jan 2.
