Savings on Hot Designer Trends

Fall is one best time of year for fashion. It's when all of the new trends emerge and that must-have feeling is the strongest. Pulling the full-price trigger on a new season item is a commitment but it can also be incredibly rewarding.

The Australian-based Cettire has emerged as a prime destination for new season savings. The appears to work like a market place, like Farfetch or Italist and is able to offer a currency advantage in addition to great markdowns.

Full disclosure:  I've personally placed two orders with  Cettire and both have been canceled. Numerous shoppers reported satisfying experiences.

If there were a big showing for fashion week we would be sure to see lots of capes. If you're going with a high-end version, you should consider the Saint Laurent cape that's $1133 from $2900 US. Trendsetters will also need a coat with a super long hemline. This Loewe style is gorgeous for $2000 from $2900 US.

Some other items we spotted include Moncler hats with fur poms for $250 from $400 US (lots of color options) and Bottega Tire boots are $900 from $1150.  We also spotted these new-style Prada rain/snow/winter boots with a little pouch for $980 from $1500-ish. We like the non-lace up new style but there are also short ones available.

We suggest that you search Cettire tire for any trend that is tempting your desire to see if it's priced any less than it would be locally. We suggest you don't wait on super hot items. You can already see that they won't be available for much longer.

MatchesFashion 80% Off Finds

It's perplexing how a seemingly innocent scroll through an 80% off discount can lead to a not so benign checkout page. That is exactly how the trouble recently started Thursday night on MatchesFashion.

Editorial worthy shoes for $200? Why not! An archival Balmain dress for about $500? I'm sure I will find someplace to wear it. Oh, a new Maison Michel (Chanel) hat for $200 can't be bad. Right?

You see, it's a slippery slope. Here are Balenciaga knife boots for $330 from $1650, a Valentino pouch for $268 from $645, and a Jil Sander Sombrero bag for $800 from nearly $2000.

Go ahead. Take a scroll through the MatchesFashion sale section and feel secure knowing you're not the only person wondering 'how did this happen'.

Weekend Shopping: Obsessions & Impulses

There are only a few more beach weekends left before the unofficial end of Summer. It's time to put down the White Claw and it's not a moment too soon because that stuff is actually disgusting-- but in the best type of way.

I would love to say that I'm still hunting for ultra reduced bikinis and sandals but it's not as interesting as it was a few weeks ago. I'm now turning our attention towards transitional items that get me excited for a new fashion season while remembering that it isn't very likely that we will return to a  going-out lifestyle any time soon.

Shoes seem to have taken the place of the new season IT-bag. Some new seasons standouts include the "Tire Boot" from Bottega Veneta and the oversized chain slide from JW Anderson. Pre-pandemic, Gucci tried relaunching the 1961 Jackie bag but then pulled it back. This season we are looking forward to the re-relaunch. I think the overall trends this season will be skewed towards wild eye-catching items and very classic pieces.

Some notable markdowns of the season include a host of Missoni wraps, ponchos, and pillows. Prices are already reduced to 80% on some items and if you use the code GOCRAZY to save an additional 25% on purchases over $150. These Missoni pillows come to $112 from a retail price of usually $300 and this classic knit poncho is $52 from $350. It's impossible to say no.

Looking back on the past week, 24S has a tiered promotion that will save you up to 25% off when you spend $500 or more. The details and codes can be found in the original post. We were excited to apply the savings to lots of Moncler and Givenchy items.

This week, the Nordstrom Anniversary sale went public. The designer options aren't plentiful but we did a great edit or the best pieces over here. Some standouts include Hunter Boots for $99 from $150 and a Tom Ford beauty set for $88.

Remember, even if an item is full price, you'll save by not paying sales tax or duties. It's hard to compete with that.

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Goes Public

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale opens to the public on Wednesday at 9:30am, which is just the excuse we needed to ignore our long list of responsibilities. We like to think of the promotion as a Fall pre-presale. It's always a great opportunity to stock up on items that you will need as soon as temperatures start heading south or even some fun items you can enjoy now.

We noticed that some of our favorite items sold out right away when the sale opened to cardmembers. These ON sneakers and this Sulwhasoo beauty set were gone in a day. We strongly suggest you make a list of what you want and get ahead of the sale going live.

We sorted and browsed through the entire inventory from the women's, kid's, beauty, and home sale sections. Below are some of our favorites items:

The sale selections at our local haunts are getting pretty dismal but overseas stores are much better stocked and the discounts are starting to get competitive. Farfetch started a promotion today where sale merchandise is discounted an extra 20%. Use the code 20FAR to engage the additional discount.

The situation is such that many designer items are not included in the sale. Another blip we've noticed is that some of the stores that sell on  Farfetch are inflating retail prices. To top it all off, prices seem to switch way too frequently to confidently post prices.

Among the bags, we found this Fendi Kan I  and a silver Bottega pouch. It's available in black too. A nano-size Eden bag and this YSL quilted camera bag is $960 from $1850-- if you can get the code to work. Among the shoes, there are these Fendi slingbacks,  Fendi ankle boots and Saint Laurent Tribute platforms. Golden Goose sneakers are $240 from $450.

Frankly, the Farfetch experience isn't supporting a lot of confidence. It's absolutely worth checking but maybe for items that you have previously been stalking.

Coltorti: Big End-Of-Season Discounts

A lot of our local stores are completing sale season but that the world is big. Sale season ain't over just yet! Coltorti is a multi-brand store with several boutiques along the Eastern coast of Italy and they are offering an extra 25% off Spring and Summer merchandise with the code DEALMOON25.

Some of the more interesting purchases include items from this past winter season. This woman's Moose Knuckles puffer comes to $233 from about $600, a Mr. & Mrs. Italy parka is $670 from  $1040 and this Woolrich parka with a fur hood is $486 from $1100. Okay, maybe we are getting ahead of ourselves-- it's still August.

It's hard to believe it we are already in the depths of mid-August. Sale season has never gone this long and it's really beginning to come to an end. On the bright side, that will give us some time to point our attention focused on soaking in the last days of Summer. I really try to use this time to direct my attention towards the kids and create memories that will withstand a decade of time.

In shopping news, the end-of-season sales are nearly all over. Net-A-Porter will close out their sale section on Monday. There won't be any additional markdowns or promotions. If there is anything you've been stalking, now would be the time to pull the trigger.

Some of the available highlights include this Tom Ford tote that's $1200 from $2400. These Givenchy knee-high boots are perfect for fall and ring in at $718 from $1800 and Balenciaga slingbacks are $475 from $950. The best deals are among the clothing.

It's also worth noting that the Saks sale is nearing its end. It's been hard to keep up as new merchandise is constantly being added. Some new finds include this Zimmerman silk blouse for $470 from $900 and these Midnight 00 tulle heels are $333 from $1110. I added some new markdowns to the post here.

Intermix: VIP Link to 30% Off

Intermix started a flash sale that will save you a selection of priced merchandise. The sale isn't slated to start until Thursday but you can use this "VIP link" to access the savings now.

Some of the notable items are this LoveShackFancy eyelet minidress that comes to $262 from $375, a SEA sweatshirt is $105 from $150, and this Grlfrnd strapless denim dress is $187 from $268.  This Dion Lee corset is insanity but selling out in many sizes. We love the rose quartz on these Lizzie Fortunato earrings that are now $205 from $295.

This sale will open to the public on Thursday and be done after one day. The discounts aren't as good as the sale-on-sale promotions but, at this point, the assortment of good options is plentiful.

Sephora Sale: 50% Off

A sample sale consisting of discounted beauty products might not yield enough savings to justify a journey. Give us beauty discounts just a few clicks away and we are on it. Right now you can save up to 50% off a great assortment of luxury beauty items from Sephora.

Some of the highlights include a great selection of Tom Ford lipsticks that are just $18 from $38 and lip lacquer is $27 from $55.  We also suggest snagging a Marc Jacobs foundation for $28 from $55 and here are Marc Jacobs lipsticks for $16 from $32.

If you've been curious about the Amika hairdryer, this would be a good time to give it a "spin." It's currently reduced to $180 from $300. Some people say it's better than the Dyson. Here is the curl set for $150 from $250.

The sale section is pretty well-stocked at the moment and there are no lines to check out. (Ha-ha) It's no doubt that this is an ideal way to shop at Sephora (even if it's not on sale).

Saks End-of-Season Markdowns

At this late date, it's possible that current markdowns are orthogonal to COVID. After all, it's August and retailers must wave their Summer merchandise good-bye. The end-of-season discounts at Saks Fifth Avenue are rather good shouldn't go overlooked.

We were surprised to see any discounted designer handbags but there are some notable finds. This Givenchy top-handle bag is now $1075 from $1250 and this Valentino belt bag is $838 from $2100. Among the shoes are these Balenciaga glitter Knife shoes for $278 from $600, Valentino boots are $660 from $1650 and Gucci slides are $475 from $950.

Shoes and handbags are always nice but the clothing options are even better. Here is a an Alaia dress for $850 from $3500, The Row skinny pants are $228 from $950, and a Saint Laurent satin blazer is $860 from $3600.

We are at the end of the season. Prices are unlikely to go any lower. We suggest you take a final scroll before we begin back-to-school talks.

The novelty of discount stores and flash sales has waned over the course of Corona. It's a new era in shopping and the newly launched concept of HauteFind is ushering in a new concept that's both exciting and deal worthy.

Weekend Shopping: The Hermes Sale Debacle & More

The Hermes sale at Americana Manhasset took a turn worthy of thespian honors. There was bribery, line cutting, cursing, screaming thievery, fraud, acts of nature, threats, and ultimately a blackout. The sale only lasted one day (thankfully) as the power went out in the entire neighborhood, on Friday.

The situation begs the question: At what extent will you go for discounts? I have always been known to circumvent the compromise. An undesirable designer item purchased, even on sale, is typically no value to me. I rather not have a bag even at half-price if it's the wrong color. My closet isn't forever expanding and I choose to reserve the valuable real estate for items I truly desire.

This guidance is, even more, the case when it comes to Hermes. On sale or full price, Hermes is expensive. Oran sandals in Rouge Garance? No thank you. I rather spend $300 and have a more natural and wearable color. A Clic-Clac in Vert Anis? I rather save my money for something else.

This guidance isn't only true of expensive brands. The same methodology can be applied to sales that carry inexpensive items. I often avoid sample sales of beauty products. One needs to calculate the cost of time and travel, the element of crowds, and remorseful purchases against the potential savings. Usually, a trip to Sephora will save you money and you'll ultimately have less clutter.

A good shopper buys things on sale to have them. A stylish shopper buys beautiful things to own them.

Moving on to sales of worthy items. TheOutnet is offering an extra 30% off a preselected assortment of merchandise, which brings the total savings to 75% off on some items. This Alexander McQueen dress comes to only $360 from $2000, a classic Ellery dress with fluted sleeves is $150 from $705, and a Saint Laurent velvet blazer is $690 from $3300.

Moda Operandi Extra Discounts

Moda Operandi is starting to come to the end of its sale season cycle. To amp up the excitement, the site is now offering an extra 20% off sale merchandise, which brings the discount to 75% off on some items.  Use the code SALE20 at checkout.

The most reduced items include an assortment of buy-and-hold pieces. These are the types of sales that are perfect for gowns or occasionwear. Ssense has been leading the charge through sale season. The site's official designer sale started last month but there have been amazing discounts since the start of COVID. What's most surprising is that there are continually new finds.

We found this Dolce & Gabbana bustier top for $255 from $945, Nicholas Kirkwood flats for $262 from $795, and a Loewe tote for $635 from $2350. This YSL Nolita bag is a classic and a great buy at $1735 from $2600.

Don't forget to take a peek at full price items. Sometimes you'll find that the retail prices are more attractive than at other stores. Here is a Bottega Veneta puffy cassette bag that's $2590 from $2800 US retail and this Pouch with a heavy chain is $3335 from $2800.

The thing with Ssense is that you have to spend time and explore continuously. We will be sure to add more finds to the post if we over the next few days.

Hermes Sale Details Revealed

Following Tropical Storm Isaias, Manhasset, LI is bracing itself for a thunderous Hermes sale. The sale is set to begin Thursday but Madison Avenue Spy has come to learn that priority entrance tickets will be distributed starting on Wednesday at 6am at the Manhasset Mall security entrance.

Once a shopper receives a ticket, they are invited to return at any time during the duration of the sale. Only one ticket will be given to each person. Those who do not receive a ticket can still shop the sale but will need to register at the store once the sale opens. Ticket holders and registered shoppers will be called 30 minutes prior to admission.

This season, in order to accommodate social distancing guidelines, each shopper will be limited to 30-minutes of shopping. Each customer will be required to wear a mask. Masks will be provided for those who don't have any. (Do you think it will be a special Hermes mask or standard-issue medical grade?)

American Express and cash will not be accepted. All shoppers much have an ID that matches the name on the credit card being used.

Our source was not able to outline what items will be available at the sale. There are rumors that there will not be any silks addition to the standard omission of leather goods. That means no ties or scarves. Most shoppers will gravitate to the shoes, jewelry, and ready-to-wear. Clic-Clac bracelets and enamels tend to go fast-- especially when there are no buying limits.

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

Nordstrom is known for having great sales. There are two in particular that can send a city girl shopping in the burbs: The "Half-Yearly Sale" and the "Anniversary Sale." The Half-Yearly sale is clearance, usually towards the end of the season. (Like, now.) The Anniversary Sale is a presale before the new collection hits the department store floor.

Nordstrom's Anniversary Sale begins Tuesday. The sale consists of a catalog of pre-Fall merchandise that is discounted 25% to 40% off. Each department has its own special items that are featured in the pre-Fall sale. You can sift through the catalog options right here.

The presale runs to August 19 but is limited to customers who have a Nordstrom credit card. Afterward, on July 20, the sale opens to the general public. Prices return to normal once the sale ends near the end of the Month.

"Back-to-school" items and baby gear are especially attractive during this Nordies sale. For example, you know your kids want new Adidas sneakers for the start of school and they are right here for $35 from $55. Nike kicks are $53 from $70. (There is really no reason not to get them!) Over here is a Herschel Supply backpack for $50, which is normally $75. There is also a large amount of cute shorts in case you need to do a mid-season refresh. We even spotted UppaBaby stroller that's discounted to $727.

We are a bit choosier when picking pre-season items for ourselves but a Nili Lotan cashmere sweater is $475 from $800. We really like this L'Alegance herringbone blazer that's $375 from $800 and this Veronica Beard dress is $224 from $450. We even found On sneakers for $84 from $140.

It's interesting that more upscale designers have realized that pre-gaming sale season is better than post-season markdowns. Don't forget to also check out the beauty deals. We are always a sucker for a new shade of lipstick or an updated nail polish

Italist: Pre-Sale-ing the New Season

There is a thrill to finding exactly what you want during a third markdown but those finds are becoming less frequent. The more rewarding prospect is savings on the newest season's trends.

Italist has started uploading Winter 2021 merchandise and sold out items can be procured for a bit of saving. Looking for a Prada Reissue 2005? Here it is for $1550 from $1750. Bottega Veneta Lido sandals are $980 from $1200 and a Gucci bodysuit is $733 from $980. We also found deals for Moncler and Fendi's newest collaboration with Joshua Vides.

There isn't a lot of inventory on any of these items. We suggest you spring into action now or find contentment in paying full retail.

Of course, the site also has a lot of end of season markdowns too. Here is a Bottega Veneta woven pouch for $1915 from $3100 and a Gucci small GG ring bag for $1590 from $2600. We added a lot of great finds to the images above.

Weekend Shopping: Hermes Sale Coming Soon

News of a Hermes sale would normally send pulses of excitement but in today's world, the proposition reveals more sentiments of gaucherie. Sure the prospect of half-off Hermes is always appealing but long lines, crowded spaces, and past season's castoffs make it a trifecta of defeat.

The sale is set to take place Thursday, August 6 through Saturday, August 8 from 10am to 6pm, at the Americana Manhasset shopping center in Long Island, New York. Social distancing protocol will be followed, so it's possible that the standard wait time to enter the sale will even be longer than in prior years.

We are told that this season's sale will not include any silks in addition to the standard omission of leather goods. That means no ties or scarves. Most shoppers will gravitate to the shoes, jewelry, and ready-to-wear. Clic-Clac bracelets and enamels tend to go fast-- especially when there are no buying limits. We will be sure to add insights and guidance as the sale date approaches.

Moving on to current sales... MatchesFashion is offering an extra 20% off sale items with the code EXTRA20. Here are Balenciaga mules that come to about $300 from $950, a Jil Sander market bag is $530 from $1310 and Valentino rope sandals are $400 from nearly $1000.

The Parisian-based, 24S is offering discounts that can save 20% off on sale merchandise. You can use the code EXTRA20 to engage the discount that brings the savings to 75% on some items. Saks Fifth Avenue has been thoughtfully reducing bundles of merchandise throughout the season. Most recently we noticed a new crop of luxury staples hit the site at extreme discounts. The designer merchandise tends to disappear quickly with discounts ranging from 75% to 80% off. You have to be quick to catch it. You can click here to see what's become available.
