Saks Fifth Avenue Friends & Family Sale

Sponsored by Saks Fifth Avenue & Shopstyle

The Saks Friends & Family sale starts today. Online and in-store shoppers can save 25% off select apparel, shoes, handbags, jewelry, and accessories. The best part is that there are lots of very transitional items that can be incorporated from at-home casual to going out fabulous.

All items included in the promotion are indicated. I suggest you browse through the options from Cinq å Sept. I immediately fell in love with this wool cape that comes to $521 from $675. I love how it can add drama to a fairly basic jeans and sweater combination and it's also perfect for more dressed up encounters too. You can see more pictures here.  I am also crazy about this Alice & Olivia blouson-sleeve sweater that comes to $330 from $440.

In the shoe selection, you can focus your attention on the great options from See By Chloe and Nicholas Kirkwood. These See by Chloe shearling boots come to $318 from $475 and classic Kirkwood boots with a pearl heel are about $750 from $995.

The Saks Friends & Family sale is a great opportunity to stock up on some fresh denim and sweaters. I love the relaxed nature of these Ksubi Playback jeans and this Design History cardigan comes in three colors and is only $90 from $120.

The friends & family promotion runs through October 4 online and in stores. This is a great opportunity for big savings on what you need now the next markdown won't be for some time.

Shopbop Expands Markdowns to 70% Off

Update: Shopbop started a new tiered promotion where you can save a total of 25% off your order. You can click here for VIP access and use the code FALL20 to engage the extra savings. The discount tiers are listed below:

15% off orders of $200+
20% off orders of $500+
25% off orders of $800+

I've been looking forward to a good Shopbop markdown to ready my wardrobe for a transitional seasonality period. Right now you can save 40% to 70% off 1000s of new markdowns.

Here is a shearling teddy bear coat from Coach that's $1060 from $2660, Isabel Marant boots that are $387 from $1290, and an Off-White bag that's reduced to $544 from $1089. I'm also really into this Sandy Liang ruffled jacket that's $475 from $950.

Hopefully, life won't leave us in a confined habitat this Winter. I'm looking forward to a more dressed season. I suggest scrolling through the options from MarniAcne, and Ulla Johnson for a little whimsical positivity.

If the item you're watching isn't included in this markdown Shopbop is likely to add it in the next sale drop. Usually, the site adds batches of merchandise every few weeks.

INTERMIX: Flash Sale 40% Off

                                            Sponsored by INTERMIX and ShopStyle

Intermix started a flash sale that will save you a selection of priced merchandise. The sale isn't slated to start until Tuesday but you can use this "VIP link" to access the savings now.

Jumping right in, this Veronica Beard blazer is $360 from nearly $600, an IRO leather biker jacket is $780 from $1300, and this drape neck Ronny Kobo tank is incredible and reduced to $210 from $348. There are also a lot of great denim options like this SLVRLAKE cropped high rise jean that's $168 from $280 and L'Agence cropped cuffed jeans are $159 from $265.

The flash sale applies to some sale items too like this Acler lace blouse that comes to $119 from $330, an ALC puffed sleeve tee is $60 from $150, L'agance skinny jeans are $90 from $250, and this Racil tuxedo blazer is $222 from $1240.

Moving on to full price merchandise, these gorgeous high-waisted leather pants from INTERMIX are a clear Fall fashion hero. A trendy pair of leather pants might not seem like a basic wardrobe hero but when styled the right way you can achieve a variety of different looks with just a swap of a basic top. The best part is that regardless of the combination, you'll never look basic or boring.

Some of the options I pulled include this white knit tank ($158), which is perfect for late Summer transitional days. I paired this army green sleeveless top with shoulder button details ($188) with the pants for an additional look that seamlessly transitions from office to nighttime. A black tank ($158) is obviously evening ready and can be paired under a blazer as a chill hits the air.  Finally, a  relaxed black cashmere sweater ($248) will carry these pants through the deep cold of Winter.

As an added bonus, I paired the pants with an exaggerated shoulder cashmere tank from Ronny Kobo ($378). The sweater is a hero piece of its own and also pairs with jeans for a more relaxed look or slacks for a more dressed up work-appropriate ensemble.

One pair of pants can really carry you to almost any occasion from September to April. INTERMIX has a wonderful selection of exclusive pieces and private collection pieces that can be your personal hero. Click here to see exactly how I styled all these ensembles and scroll through the product images above to see exactly what I'm wearing.

Weekend Shopping: Obsessions & Impulses

DSW continues to drop assorted past season Gucci shoes for 40% to 60% off. If you've been following along, you'll notice that a new selection and restocks happen every morning. You might have also noticed that prices have inched up. When we first reported about the sale Jordaan loafers were $349 and now they are priced at $499.

To sweeten the deal, DSW just started offering a promo code that will afford you an extra 5% off the entire Gucci selection. Just register your email address as an insider to engage the additional savings at checkout.

As I scrolled through Vogue.com looking for inspiring fashion week pictures, I started to wonder; Can fashion week really exist if there aren't any selfies? Beyond Corona, this year was just too heavy to endure the look-at-me-sitting-front-row brag. Could anyone really stomach the 'I think you're sitting in my seat' or the 'I don't see your name on the list' confrontation?

As much as I love fashion and fashion shows, I must say, good riddance! I'm very happy to not know what Bella Hadid ate backstage or Nikki McGuire's fashion week survival tips. It was never very interesting and this year proves how little it's always mattered.

The online venue was a disaster for most designers looking to attract eyeballs and create buzz. As I predicted, however, the most thoughtful and creative minds in fashion emerged as delicate leaders.  The debut of the Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons duo collection might not have been earth-shattering but I did love that they took to the stage for a public conversation.

The most creative fashion week presentation was by Jeremy Scott for Moschino. The designer staged a full puppet show that was filled with imagination. The concept celebrated the whimsy that has always been part of the Moschino DNA. Marionettes of famous models showcased 40 couture-level looks. The front row was also reenacted by scaled-down futures representing the likeness of fashion's most known figures such as Anna Wintour and Edward Enninful.

Let's step off off the runway conveyor belt and move on to shopping sales.  Friday night, Nordstrom started a private designer markdown where reductions are up to 70% off. You must use this link to view the discounts. Some of the highlights include Roger Vivier shoes with a classic buckle for $262 from $875 and here is a Prada floral print pump for $225 from $750. Sizes are limited for all styles.

Moda Operandi started another round of markdowns. This Brandon Maxwell dress worn by Jill Biden at to the DNC is reduced to $658 from $1200, Roxanne Assouline bracelets are $72 from $240,  and a Prada scarf is $160 from $400.

Macy's is hosting a beauty promotion with discounts of 15% off.  Dior beauty and  Gucci fragrances are included. It might be worth checking out if you are starting to scoop at the bottom of your favorite moisturizer.

Looking back on the week, Net-A-Porter started an early Fall shoe promotion, where many styles are discounted 15% off with the code SHOPSTYLE15. Some of the most tempting purchases include the great assortment of Golden Goose sneakers I also love these Fendi boots that come to $892 from $1050, Nicholas Kirkwood boots with a pearl heel are $833 from $980. You can click here to see what brands are excluded and to see my other finds.

The Italian boutique, Tessabit is hosting a 30% off sale that is only open to Mad-Spy readers can access the sale selection early through this link with the code: S30MADISONSome of the highlights include a wide selection of options from Fendi, Balenciaga, Balmain and YSL, and more. This Balenciaga logo all-over sweater is $833 from $1190 and a Balmain tee for $226 from nearly $400 in the US. Tap here to see more

Saks Off 5th started a friends and family sale. Many items on the site are an additional 25% off with the code FRIENDS. A Nicole Benisi puffer that's lined with shearling for about $1300 from $2900 and an Off-White puffer is $630 from $1890. Click over this way to see more of what we dug up on the site.

This week, I also had so much fun working with Intermix to style the ultimate Fall essential pair of high-waisted leather pants.  Check out how I incorporated the pants into a half-dozen outfits that are neither basic nor boring.

That's it for now folks...Weekend Shopping will be off until October 17. See ya then!

The best discounts are among the clothing. Here is a Nicole Benisi puffer that's lined with shearling for about $1300 from $2900 and this down bomber wth a fox trimmed hood is $675 from $1200. This Miu Miu leather studded jacket is $1155 from nearly $4700. Don't miss the Marni selection, which is already near 75% off the additional promotional discount is like very good sample sale pricing.

Most designer shoes are reduced by about 20% and the F&F discount brings the savings to approximately 40% off. Some designers are reduced a little more. Roger Vivier pool slides are $412 from $1250 and these embellished buckle loafers are $350 from over $1000.

The same discount formula can be applied to the handbag selection. This Alexander McQueen crossbody bag seems like a good buy for $750 from $1775. This Off-White convertible belt bag is $490 from $915 and this classic Miu Miu bag is $1200 from nearly $2000.

Giglio Discounts on Fall Collections

It's always fun to explore a distant store's fashion online and then have the opportunity to physically visit. The experience is usually a lot different than you imagine but there are always nice surprises.

Giglio, has stores in Milano and Palermo and is deliciously Italian. The boutique carries local contemporary brands like Pinko and Twin Set in addition to all the luxury brands you would expect to find in an upscale multi-brand store.

To encourage international exploration through the ease of your fingertips Giglio is offering 15% off Fall merchandise with the code MID15. The discount isn't huge but the bright side is that you can find a lot of items that are difficult to source or are already sold out at other retailers.

Over this way, we found a Bottega Veneta Airpod case that comes to $382 from $450 and this is the first time we spotted a Bottega Veneta Cassette belt bag. It rings out at $1020 from $1200. Here is a mini woven Jodie for $1462 from $1720.

This Prada Spectrum bag is new this season and this new little Prada Matinee has a retail price less than it would be in the US and comes to $1800 from $2450. The same goes for these Golden Goose sneakers that come to just $213 from over $500 usually. The code doesn't work for Gucci but if you're looking for Lamé Princetown slides, they have them here.

All shipping is free for purchases over $150 and all duties are already included in the price shown. That means there is no tax and no surprises.

Weekend Shopping: Obsessions & Impulses

After years of discontinuing designer discounts, DSW served up some major discounts on Gucci shoes. Prices are discounted up to 70% off. Styles have been selling out fast but the website seems to be restocking daily. We suggest you continue to check back even if what you want has sold out.

Once upon a time, New York discount shoppers had numerous options. There was Loehmann's, Daffy's, Filene's, Syms, and Century 21. Now there will be none. On Thursday, Centruy 21 announced that it filed for bankruptcy and will be closing all 13 stores leaving behind an era of shopping legends.

The stories that would emerge if those racks could talk. The life lessons learned from the "Back Room" to the home of "Clothing Bargains for Millionaires" educated generations of deal hunters. They were shopping destinations where even a little bit of money could take you far.

Everyone has a story. I still remember the way my hand was shaking 20-years ago when handed over my credit card to be swiped to charge a $900 for a $2500 Prada coat at Century 21. So much lust. So much adrenaline. So much doubt.

There were real bargains on real designer labels. All New Yorkers quickly learn that nothing lasts forever. and this chapter of shopping has unequivocally come to an end. TJ Maxx and Nordstrom Rack will never offer the thrills that were provided by the traditional and independently owned discount store. How can they? Without falling too far down the path of nostolgia we will persevere.

Those looking to spruce up their wardrobes for Fall can find good discounts on MatchesFashion. The code EXTRA20 will save you an additional 20% off. Highlights include a Fendi dress for $1300 from nearly $4000, a Marine Surre dress for $370 from $1120, and a Balenciaga shirt for $340 from $825. Lots more on the full post over here

In an absence of Fashion Week, we started diving into the chunky sole boot trend. There are numerous options to stomp your way into tough-luxe, including options from Stella McCartney Bottega Veneta' and lots more. Check out the more over here.

With international shopping on my mind, I clicked over to the UK version of Net-A-Porter and was amazed by the deals and that's even after the currency was exchanged to US dollars. There is a Gucci apple tee that's $442 from $690 US retail and a small Gucci belt is $325 from $360. Read up on how to sort for the most savings here.

Lastly, if you're in New York and want some old-world discount shopping feel you can head to 375Showroom's clearance sale. Designer merchandise from Off-White, Palm Angels, Amiri, and more are up to 85% off. You can find all the details here.

That's it for now folks. Until next time... same time, same place?

Net-A-Porter UK: Lots for Less

How much fun is it to travel and shop? It's one of the things I'm personally missing most this year. I can't tell you how many times I have made my way through London and ignored the fact that the British pound isn't equivalent to the US dollar.

It makes it feel like everything is on sale. That is-- until you get your credit card bill. But by then, you're already home and it's too late to do anything about it. With international shopping on my mind, I clicked over to the UK version of Net-A-Porter and was amazed by the deals even after the currency was exchanged to US dollars.

Some of my most exciting finds were among the Gucci items. This Gucci apple tee that's $442 from $690 US retail, a small Gucci belt is $325 from $360, Jordaan loafers are $700 from $790, a jacquard hat is $450 from $590, tights are $110 from $120 (if you can find them), and a metallic double-G sweater is $806 compared to $980 in the US.

Be careful, not all items are less expensive and some pieces will cost you even more money. The key to finding good deals from abroad is to stay under the $800 price point, which is when duties kick in.  Another key point is that all shipping is free over $200 pounds or $257.

The IT-It: Chunky Soles

In times like these, some tough-luxe might be in order. No matter how you stomp it, the thick-soled boot is one of the biggest standout trends of the season. The first steps towards this trend started in Fall 2019 with the advent of lug boots from The Row, Bottega Veneta, and Prada

Those styles are just as hot as last season but there are many more options. This season there is the advent of the tire sole, which is heavily treaded. Bottega Veneta's "Tire" version is offered in a variety of colored soles. Stella McCartney's ($975) iteration has heavy treading topped by a contrasting sole and stitching. Alexander McQueen ($850) stepped up its game with this short version, which is a dead ringer for the Prada short Lug boot ($890). Gucci's version ($1100) is crowned with jewels along the ankle and the Fendi's ($890) are surprisingly nondescript.

There are so many options that you can easily opt for a less expensive chunky sole. After all,  a Chelsea boot with a thick bottom is not entirely unique. Here is a rainboot from Ganni that's just $245 and the classic Dr. Martens thick bottom boot with a faux fur lining will only set you back $190.

Whatever iteration you choose, it's how you style them that will ultimately warrant their appeal. Remember, there is a fine line between a posing street-style-attention-seeker and the instinctively stylish mortal.

Just when you thought all of the fun of Summer is over, Mansur Gavriel dropped a major sale. Head over to the site right now to save up to 70% off a fantastic assortment of bags, shoes, clothing, and accessories.

Intermix Labor Day Sale

Labor Day isn't always the best time to shop for super discounts. The new collections are still very, um new, and retailers aren't quite ready to start discounting. This year, with delayed shipments, retailers are even more discount avoidant.

If you're looking to get a jump on the holiday weekend with very attractive discounts, we suggest you browse over to Intermix. Right now you will find a varied assortment discounted up to 75% off. The best part is that not all the options are strictly based on the Summer wardrobe.

Check out this Philosophy blazer that's only $379 from $1580 or this Blaze Milano gold lamé style that's $300 from $1440. This checked blazer bodysuit is an interesting piece for  $270 from $1150, an Ulla Johnson dress is $179 from $550, and this Adam Lippes dress is $290 from $1290.

These promotional sales are also really great for basics even if they aren't drastically reduced. Here is a bubblegum pink cashmere cardigan for $170 from $280, this ribbed sleeveless tank is $119 from $178 and Frame flared jeans are $99 from $235.

It's also a wise time to anticipate your needs for travel-- if that's even a thing this season. It never hurts to have a fresh bikini and pair of shorts when the time comes to jet out of town.

Selfridges: Prada Recycled Nylon Collection for Less

Last year, Prada announced an initiative to create a sustainable product offering. The first collection consisted of just six bags that were constructed from plastic waste collected from oceans, fishing nets, and textile fiber waste. This season, Prada has extended measure to a full line of merchandise that's exclusively available at Selfridges.

The most exciting part about the eco-collaboration is that many pieces are priced much less than they would be found locally. The key to finding the best values is picking items under $799, which don't incur any duties or taxes.

Some of our top picks include the classic Prada Re-Edition bag that's $645 from $775. This small pouch is perfect a perfect weatherproof grab-and-go bag that's $380 from $440. I'm especially taken by this adorable nylon miniskirt that's $700 from $1100. This bucket hat is classic and perfect for preserving a blowout. This nylon tote is $745 from $1290 and sneakers are $670 from $720.

If you so spot an item above the $799 tax threshold, you still might be able to save a tiny bit. After taxes, these popular short boots with a pouch come to $1350 from $1470. It's a $70 savings in total, which isn't nothing. You certainly can't complain about a bit of savings especially when certain popular styles are selling above retail.
